Babylon Ballad

Gorgeous, glowing, softly spiced, floral-woody lavender incense, accented by sweet orange and caraway & anchored by vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss and amber. Jasmine imparts volume and a slightly creamy depth, while geranium, beautifully captured, complements with minty, rosy, peppery, herbal and citric nuances. The blend opens up wonderfully in the early heart, becoming more resinous as it dries down but remaining plush. Vanilla aspects of the amber also come through, making it into a fascinating hybrid somewhere between gourmand, incense and fougère. Definitely unique. Slightly feminine. Excellent longevity and moderate projection. Cap is incredibly cool and high quality, heavy as heck, however I did find that when allowed to sink down all the way the atomizer would be pressed a little, releasing a small amount of fragrance... so I simply store it with the atomizer removed and pop it on when need be. Am simply noting it here as I feel it’d be disingenuous not to, and to potentially aid future quality control. Seriously super cool nonetheless, definitely the best looking cap in my hardy collection. As intended, I could see it being adorned by Queens and High Priestesses of the time alike, as well as more discerning male nobles, akin to the later Islamic warrior-poets that Abdes Salaam of La Via del Profumo dedicates his lovely fragrance Tasneem to, or the famous warrior aesthetes of feudal Japan... I’m not entirely sure how the latter would receive it, but the former, with their Persian roots, I can only imagine would quite well. I would also say that the scent seems to capture, to me, what I can only articulate as “the mystery of the night”... Gently sweet and sensual... whispers of intimate rituals & rites... the endless expanse and wonder of the constellation-filled night sky... unending dunes, a sea of sand, illuminated by the lunar glow... tributaries of the Tigris and Euphrates painting lush ribbons of green, quietly rippling in the warm night breeze... Again, these are all fantasies conjured, rather than exact note-to-scene translations. Bravo, good sir!
