5th Avenue NYC Red

Wonderful juice in the flacon. I just bought this with a bonus gift tote at Priceline in QLD. It's wonderful for now. I am however going to have come back here with a review It kind of reminds me of the Lover scents by Jeanne Arthes only long lived with the peppery tones from Pretty Hot from the EA fragrance ranges. That's just for now. There's a LOTV like top note but it's not listed. This gives it a fifth avenue sistership. Again I'll come back when I have something more descriptive to say for now though I am impressed.

Sweet, juicy, fresh red apple blends beautifully with red currant, enveloping the wearer in vibrant, positive energy. Joyful and feminine, the fragrance lasts all day on fabric, with an intimate sillage that transitions from fruity notes into a floral-woody drydown. The overall impression is elegant, pleasant, and effortlessly easy to wear.

I am sad as the fragrance changed, during spring and summer I smelt this delicious apple and I even rated it as love but it smells more subtle and floral now in fall. The dahlia is now the main note instead of the apple and although I like the flower and like the smell, I've never wanted to smell like a dahlia. They remind me of school starting and fall, though they are beautiful. As I was looking for an apple scent, I compared this to Roche's mademoiselle and well, while Mademoiselle smells like a sweet and tart late summer apple dusted in powdered sugar which opens right away and starts to fade after an hour, NYC red smells like the apples that need to stand all winter to be edible in the spring - a deep, rich, intense and mature fragrance which opens only after an hour. So as for my apple fragrance search I am stuck between a young 24ish something and a 40+ fragrance vibe wise, for one I feel a bit too old and feel comfortable wearing only together with something pink and the other feels like a date night scent. The search continues

This is similar to shakira love rock. I haven't tried it on my skin yet or in different temperatures, so i cant judge just yet. Firsr impression though is this is boring and smells like shakira love rock. I dont like love rock and i dont think ill like this one either.

Nyc red starts out with a fruity blast but it is not a juvenile scent it changes on drydown and has a depth and woodiness present. Deep drydown is reminiscent of bright Crystal absolute, it's sticks to close all day and needs time to macerate before using... 7/10

I ́ve tried it today. It is very (red) fruity and pleasent. Has a certain intensity. It reminds me of some scent I know, but can ́t tell, what it was. There is something familiar about it. I will try it again, but it won ́t be a buy for me, I guess.

I don't know what it is, but apple and plum notes have taken on an unpleasant sharpness for me in the past couple years. I can't imagine it's an issue with synthetics, because Bath & Bodyworks sprays with those notes never used to bug me at all, I loved them. Anyway. This fragrance, I can't spray on my wrists. It's too much and is unpleasant for too long. If I use it like a mist, spray and walk through, the sharp smell dries down much faster, like 15 minutes or so. After that, it's just kind of indefinably sweet to me, a vibe of like...digging through your purse and smelling the lotion and your perfume and your gum all at once. Just not working for me, sadly.

I must have bought a dodgy or fake bottle because this barely has any smell at all. At first spray it is already very soft scented, it's vaguely sweet then immediately dries down to nothing. If i bury my nose in my arm I get a little musky sandalwood but that's it. Very disappointed. I have had this around a year but unfortunately maceration has made no difference to the performance.

Another beauty. I think one has to be a true lover of sweet floral OGs [truly sweet, before the sugarbombs of today but not neutral either, like sweet but in a nectar, natural way] to appreciate this beauty. I love everything about 5th Avenue, it has been my signature perfume for years and still have it in my collection, would feel naked without it. The only thing that can replace it but not completely as my staple and perfume 'pyramid need' so to speak is Calvin Klein Eternity Moment. Getting back to this one, it is a beautiful fragrance that's sweet and floral yet fruity, as in melon-y. I detect melon in the opening, perhaps it's a mix between the notes as this doesn't mention any melon. Cantaloupe, to be exact. Really delicious. Then I smell something like 'red flowers', I have never smelled dahlias so I don't know what those are like but perhaps it's just my mind trying to put an image to the scent. It's rounded, clean and sweet at the same time, not heavy at all, just a more sophisticated and sweet-deeper vibe of the original 5th Avenue. I can also smell some pepper or spices (?), it's a bit more 'oriental' than the rest of the 5th Avenues I have [the original and the NYC Vibe], and the musky creaminess similar to the one in Allure by Chanel [but far less potent, just a hint]. I'm sorry I am not better at detecting notes, as I would really like to be able to describe these perfumes. They are such beautiful concoctions and I will always buy and cherish them for as long as they're made. EDIT: this may sound kooky, but the drydown has the same sugar note as BR540, call me crazy but that's what I feel. Flowers, nectar and that sugariness. Oh what a beautiful surprise, I am SO happy I purchased this !

I will certainly try this when I get the chance! I'm willing to bet it will be a purchase for me! I like Elizabeth Arden scents for the most part. Truly, I haven't smelled a "bad" one yet...but there could be some! The red currant is what really caught my eye. I'll try to not go back to my old ways of purchasing just because it's twenty bucks and I think it's worth the price for a WHOLE bottle...even if I only wear it a couple times a year! I like the prices for these Arden scents but they may be going up and I might have to wait a bit to purchase for the twenty dollars I wish to pay. Wish me luck!

Yet another example of why I think Elizabeth Arden make truly wonderful fragrances. This is fruity and sweet initially, but woody and spicy in the drydown. Sweet, but not cloying or artificially sweet, it's not offensive or irritating in any way, shape or form. Best of all is that combination of apple, red berry and pepper on the opening, it is truly delicious. Apple can so often smell synthetic and nasty, along the toilet cleaner line, this is the total opposite, it's a delicious blend. My advice, get it whilst you can.

This is a pleasant fruity floral. Grown up red candy apple 🍎 an easy reach for autumn & winter, cooler evening.
