5th Avenue NYC Uptown

I just blindbought this and I'm glad I did. I'm surprised this fragrance isn't more popular since Uptown is a cousin in the Allure and Joy family. The start isn't very impressive imho but give it time and space to breathe, it's actually getting zestier and more lively over time. For me the notes don't quite reflect what it smells like and it's more complex than I thought it would be. In the heart of this fragrance I get a beautifully sparkly and warm Jasmine scent with fresh and aromatic tangerine peel on a bed of white flowers and some interesting greenish facets here and there, somewhere between creamy and powdery, with a light and very nice vanilla and some gentle sandalwood in the background. Lovely, young and flirty, upliftig in a calm way, if that makes sense, cozy and also kind of tidy. I think this works for any age and all seasons, maybe just not in the most brutal summer heat though. Sure Uptown is nothing groundbreaking but it's a well done wearable fragrance with a good and consistent performance and definitely smells more expensiv than it is. I mean, I paid 12 Euros for the huge 125ml bottle and that's a steal for such a good fragrance.

I had meant to buy the classic Fifth Avenue from 1996 — but somehow, Uptown ended up in my hands instead. At first, I wasn’t impressed. Maybe it was winter’s chill, maybe it was the shadow of my expectations for the original. I set it aside. Months later, on a warm summer afternoon, I gave it another try — and suddenly it made sense... The opening sparkles like a glass of crisp Prosecco on a terrace overlooking Fifth Avenue, brightened with green petitgrain and a playful twist of pink pepper. It’s fresh, lively, almost effervescent - like a breeze carrying hints of citrus and spice. That dazzling first impression fades quickly, but it leaves behind a smile. The base settles into a smooth, understated warmth: vanilla, sandalwood, and tonka bean. It feels cozy without losing its brightness and freshness. What once felt ordinary now feels like a slice of summer in the city — surprisingly charming.

This has the most beautiful prickling pear-like opening, in love with it, it's spring, it's lighthearted florals, playful and carefree, it feels like a sunny uptown afternoon indeed. But this initial airy scent turns into very tangy, leafy and tea-ish green accords pretty fast, maybe after half an hour (on me), this must be the mixture of Petitgrain and Ivy with some vanilla left. It's still springy, but it feels like you left the terrace with all the beautiful blossoming flowers and the sparkly drinks and went into the fresh-cut hedge maze and get lost in there for a long time, since this herbal dry down has some staying power. I love both sides of this perfume, but be aware that it changes fast, spritz on your clothes to stay on the terrace a bit longer. However it so affordable, I think reapplying it a lot is ok. 🍃🌿

I love it ! It's absolutely beautiful. My husband always asks what I'm wearing when I spray it on. It is fun and playful but kinda boss lady who goes to the spa alot. I dont relate to the negative reviews on being plastic smelling maybe I was just lucky and got a fresh bottle. I dunno. I cant imagine anyone not liking this its pear sparkly wine . It's not just a meh either, it has character and for the price yeah I'll be buying back ups. I 'll tell you this... I had chanel chance eau tendre on today and I asked hubby if he liked it and he said yeah it's ok. but ,that one you wear is my favorite speaking of uptown. So there you go. Try it. Nothing to loose a large pizza hut pizza costs more. Cmon you can do it!! Its good!!

Honestly, I think this is one of the best fragrances from EA. I did not expect much when I tested it, but I fell in love instantly. The perfect PARTY fragrance. It shines like glitter, it's sparky, bitter sweet floral. A fragrance that celebrates life, free spirit and freedom. Love the magnolia and the pink pepper in this fragrance. It is young, sexy, daring and it makes me feel really happy every time I wear it. Good performance, decent longevity. It deserves much more love, imo...

This is so beautiful. A sweet, comforting soft fragrance but floral-sweet, not gourmand. Perfect for daytime, won ́t offend anybody while at the same time being elegant and distinctive. Although it doesn ́t project heavily, it ́s not a skin scent either. Decent longevity as well. I got it at the airport for a steal, and yet it ́s one of my favourite perfumes, up there with much more expensive ones.

This fragrance smells so uniquely to me. It's very fresh, with a hint of something sweet, but not TOO sweet, just that kinda mature sweet? I ADORE the white wine note in this. Kinda smells like fresh, juicy, crunchy green grapes. For the price, I don’t think there is anything to criticize. 5/5 recommend!!

From the opening with the delightfully citrusy petitgrain, through the delicate floral notes, to the warm, smooth base, these perfumes carry a sense of pleasure. It is a feminine composition, light and universally delightful. Far from the classic original, but definitely worth experiencing.

I blind bought this and I was truly surprised by this one. I own most of the 5th Avenue's except for maybe 4 or 5 and this one is the best one. First spray smells just like pencil shavings, but once it dies down it's a nice fragrance. The white wine in this smells aquatic on my skin and the sandalwood smells slightly like amber. I'm surprised how much I like this especially since it's getting deep into summer. I will definitely wait and try this one in the fall. Right now I'm mostly reaching for EA green tea summer, green tea cucumber, and green tea pear blossom. The green tea's are nice in this southern heat and humidity.

This is different from a lot of the other 5th Avenues, a line that I have a few from and do like. It opens with the white wine and petitgrain, a woody, dry accord that continues with the creamy magnolia, Japanese cherry blossom and musk. It's the tiniest bit sweet from the vanilla but the main player is the wine. This has a refined feel to it - classy and cultivated. I get moderate sillage and longevity and think this is versatile, can be worn year-round, day or night. This is the first wine accord I've had in a fragrance - that I know of - and I like it more than I thought I would.

There's a big burst of spicy sweetness that reminds me of a cinnamon hard candy. Then it settles to a scent reminiscent of a mildly fruity, refreshing white wine. It doesn't smell tanninic or like ethanol in this stage.

Mistakenly ordered this one from FragNet instead of another 5th Ave and I'm sure happy I did. I get a fresh, juicy grape with florals, and musky vanilla.

This one really surprised me, a great blind buy. Safe option for many occasions. For me it is the best smelling 5th avenue version.

Wine, a bit of flowers and greens. Nice and very safe type of a fragrance. Good for office.

Summer. Glass of champagne in a flower garden. Pear trees are already in bloom. Beautiful moment, fleeting. So fleeting. My experience with the 5th NYC line is like these are meant to be layered with each other? They are beautiful but somehow unfinished? On my skin, this could stay an hour if I over-sprayed. When I layered this with the usual 5th Avenue NYC, that combination lasted a little better and I thought the result was better than either scent alone ... But... Then I started to miss something more at that combination, like a base scent... and added 5.th Avenue Royale...uh, I started to feel like I'm crazy! The world is full of ready-made scents, from Elizabeth Arden too.

I was gifted this perfume for a birthday many moons ago but had shelved it for other scents, so I had forgotten it until recently when I decided to test it out again. Unfortunately I had to give this to my mom as it did not play well with my skin and disappeared off me after barely an hour. Also smelled like nothing but the very vague vanilla in the base notes. On my mom the fresher top and more flowery middle notes really showed up, and it stayed on her skin the entire day. Definetly not a perfume you can blind buy, in my opinion.

I received this as a birthday gift and my first impression was that it smells very alcohol-like. Looking at the list of notes, i can see that the white wine is likely behind it. I don't like it when sprayed on my skin as it smells too harsh on me. However, it smells really lovely when gently sprayed on clothing. It has this fresh and comforting vibe to it which I like. I think the scent would fit all year 'round as it's very inoffensive, but I'm especially looking forward to trying it out in the spring.

Certainly I've smelt better vanilla and powdery notes. The magnolia and cherry blossom is here is syrupy and doesn't quite give the "party mingle" or the "lively" experience like the other reviews that have mentioned. If you want a polite and powdery vanilla that is subtle and beautiful, there are other fragrances out there that projects and lasts longer, along with nicer notes. This is too synthetic, unfortunately because of its price.

I blind bought a bottle of NYC Uptown having pored through the apparently mainly glowing reviews for it, which state things such as "fresh and comforting", "playful and carefree", "beautiful ... sweet and comforting", "the perfect party fragrance", "a great blind buy", etc, etc. Feeling reassured by the positive reviews, and seeing relatively few negative ones, and given that I already have several EA perfumes that I do really like (Splendor, Green Tea Exotic, Arden Beauty, Always Red) I went ahead and blind bought a bottle that was well priced. I had such high hopes that this could be one of those potentially 'signature' perfumes. Well, how wrong (and gullible?!) I was. Either the bottle I purchased (from a reputable online seller, who I regularly order from) is 'off' or these reviews are very subjective and/or misleading. At first sniff all I could smell was an artificial, alcoholic, plastic'y smelling mishmash of a 'perfume'. There was absolutely NOTHING natural, or pleasant, smelling about it at all. I almost recoiled from the smell of it, and it actually turned my stomach slightly (and putting me off from finishing my breakfast!) but I persevered and (bravely!) sprayed a tiny spritz of it on my wrist, hoping it would quickly evolve into something pleasant and less queasiness inducing. Sadly, it didn't. Over the next hour or so it just stayed smelling exactly the same - of alcohol / plastic / plasticine / cheap face powder / stinky lipstick, etc. I couldn't even decipher one single natural note (such as the magnolia, Japanese cherry blossom or the pink pepper) from the muddled mess. The only note I could decipher, and way too strongly, was the alcohol. Awful. In the end I couldn't bear it anymore and had to wash it off my wrists. Luckily, unlike some other offensive perfumes, it did actually come off and didn't get any stronger the more I tried to rid myself of it, I blind bought a bottle of the original NYC perfume a few years ago and although I don't remember exactly what it smelled like I do recall that that also was repellent to me and had a somewhat similar artificial, plastic'y, cheap & nasty smell to this flanker. This time around I had been torn between ordering a bottle of this, NYC Uptown, or Only NYC. Maybe I would have fared far better had I opted for Only NYC but, having been put off by my disastrous purchase of NYC Uptown, I can't bring myself to risk blind buying a bottle of Only NYC now, sadly. Of course, I could be missing out on a winner but I would only contemplate buying that now if I could smell and test it first (or if another Fragrantican here in the UK who has a bottle of it would perhaps consider sending me a little sample of it in exchange for a sample of something of mine perhaps!). I am SO disappointed by this mishmash, nasty mess of a so-called perfume and cannot recommend it at all, and I consider it far from a "great blind buy" ! I would only recommend smelling and testing it first in a store before thinking about buying it! BUT there are at least 4 EA perfumes (named above!) that I DO really like and can highly recommend!

Arrrrgh, I just HATE this! Even fragrances I don't like often times don't get me as annoyed as this one does. I've owned a bottle of the OG back in the day and it was just okay, pleasant and inoffensive. Well, the "Uptown" version is more like a "Huge Migraine" version to me. The initial blast is so alcoholoic I felt I may drown in it. Then came a shortlived yet annoying and cloying floral phase, somewhat old-fashioned smelling. The drydown is simply pencil shavings dipped into overly sweet musk and tonka juice. This perfume is so sharp that it hurts my brain, bad. I regret every penny.
