Dear Fragrance Angel, You were so RIGHT ON about Elizabeth Arden's 5th Avenue... The first 30 minutes of this was good -- But once the dry down starts -- this is really such a BEAUTIFUL perfume - ON! This is one of those that really snuck up on me, I didn't expect this one to blend this well with my chemistry. There were moments in the wear of 5th Ave where it reminds me of a lighter day wear/office friendly version of Gabrielle Essence by Channel (another yellow/white floral perfume). 5th Avenue has less silage, is more classic, softer, more gentle version of Gabrielle Essence. These two are different enough where you could have both in your collection, particularly if you really like these floral notes in perfumes. If you like one, you will probably like the other... they have enough commonalities where you should try both. Wow, when this starts blending in with the chemistry -- this is such a gorgeous perfume. Midway through the dry-down phase, I detect notes that are more of a light spicy oriental flavor which reminds me of Ysatis, but a lighter/less intrusive spicy floral.... almost like the younger sister (or possibly daughter) of Ysatis by Givenchy). This has a similar floral essence to some perfumes in the sunshine-y yellow floral family like Jessica Simpson's Vintage Bloom, which is another one of my all time favorites for spring/summer. The overall essence of this perfume reminds me of another one of my very favorite spring/summer florals - Burberry London... Park Avenue would be a sister fragrance to BL, for sure! If someone likes perfume, but prefers more of a gentle essence of perfume -- leaning towards a body spray or light EDT - this one is perfect. I'm really starting to like 5th Avenue! You are so RIGHT about this one! AND - it is priced so reasonable! Thank you for recommending 5th Avenue! I think this is a new lighter perfume that may have good longevity - about 8 hours or so. This is one of those perfumes where it is so light that you forget that you have it on, then move - catch a whiff of this -- and it is just simply AMAZING ON! This is classically refined and smells like a high end finely milled soap. This is clean, attractive, a definite nod towards what a career woman would wear if they were on their way up in the corporate world or any office environment, a CEO could definitely wear this, this is also a perfume that is just as at home in the board room as at top restaurants in the city -- or country. This perfume is perfect for day wear at the office -- or could also be a perfume that you wear for any social activity. This is classically elegant, understated, refined, feminine, attractive without being overtly sexy. This is well blended, this is a perfume that feels comfortable in its own skin, it isn't forcing anything or trying too hard - but just comes across as pulled together and like "You Got This"! Signature Worthy? Most Definitely! This perfume is versatile enough to double for day to evening wear - and could be worn in every season, but would probably shine best in the spring/summer/early fall. This perfume is non-offensive, fairly modest, an easy reach that would be extremely versatile. This is soft enough where you could wear this at the gym, yoga classes without having to fear that someone may take offense to an overly strong perfume. This is a gateway floral perfume, meaning -- that if you are someone who has never worn florals before, this one may be a good place to start -- a great introduction to see how this wears with your chemistry. This is a gentle floral, less "in your face" than some others that I have sampled or worn. This would be a great perfume for any woman of any age. (I say women, because this leans more feminine with florals -- although probably anyone could wear this, the overall effect of this perfume is that of a finely milled high end soap - clean, fresh, and attractive without being overtly sexy). THANK YOU!!!!!!! I really, REALLY LIKE THIS ONE! Once this hits the dry down - this moves into a LOVE! It is really fabulous ON --- AND it lasts over 12 hours on my skin! I can still smell a slight trace of this at 12 hours! Fabulous! As with a lot of other perfumes, this perfume takes a little bit of time to reach the dry down phase. The first 30 min. - hour of this were not as good as this became after it was worn longer. Don't judge this one too quickly, let this set on the skin longer - and see how this blends with your chemistry. This is one of the best perfumes that I've tried, this past 3 years... and believe me, I've been on a complete mission to find perfumes that I really love! ------------ Linden blossoms! OK, that may be one of the reasons that I like this so much - Eau du Ciel had Linden Blossoms in it! One of my very best memories of having a cup of tea was when I ordered some Linden tea from eBay - and poured myself some hot water, steeping this tea while classical piano music played in the background. It was heavenly! That tea is gorgeous - and wholesome. There is something classic and elegant about it, but also very down to earth. I really liked it. No, I really LOVED it! ; ) ------------- Be aware that they have reformulated this - and the two versions are very different perfumes. In fact, they are so different that I would treat them as if they are completely different perfumes, all together. -------------- I ordered the Vintage version to compare the two formulas. This has some things in common with Estee Lauder's Azuree (it appears like a lighter/softer version). The Vintage is completely different. It is much stronger, it starts with a blend that is more lemon-like, bitter, sour. With my chemistry, the Vintage starts with a blend that smells as if cassis has been added to the formula, which is one of the only chemicals that causes my skin to turn acidic almost like cat urine. I can't wear this Vintage blend as well as the newer blend. This lightens up as the perfume wears on the skin, but the newer formula that I tried at Macy's (and wrote the first part of the review on) is much better with my chemistry. The Vintage version of 5th Avenue smells as if it is a predecessor for the Light Blue brand of perfumes. If you really like the notes of strong lemon, you will probably like the Vintage version (I would definitely try it, you never know -- chemistry is personal - it is based on your diet and the chemicals that are in your system; you may like it) . Cassis is not mentioned in the list of ingredients, so it could just be something that is taking on a smell that is similar to the note of cassis. (This smells like ivy, a strange green note with my chemistry). The Vintage blend does not harmonize with my chemistry as well as the newer formula. This is a first, because I normally like the Vintage version much more than the newer formula. In this case, they have really improved the formula where it is much more wearable. Bravo! (And NO, this is not mentioned where perfumers start changing the original formulas -- because this is TOTALLY RARE that I would like the newer formula as well or better than the original). This could be an acquired taste - as the Vintage wears over an hour in wear, it is becoming more tolerable - and less fierce. Time will tell. The first hour was not the best, this second hour is starting to become a better blend (but not as good as the newer formula).

My bottle is a few years old (2018 or ‘19) so I can’t speak for possible newer formulations. The version I have has good silage and longevity. It lasts at least 8 hours (I’ve sprayed this before bed in the past and it was still there in the morning, faintly, but noticeable). After about 4-5 hours it becomes more of a skin scent though. It is also a light and subtle scent so it’s never overly present (so it’s office safe). 5th Avenue reminds me of a mother, not because it’s a particularly motherly scent, and it doesn’t remind me of my own mother either, but I’m pretty sure my friend’s mum wore this when it came out in the 90s. I would’ve been around 12 and it’s strongly ingrained in my memory to associate this with someone’s mum. It is not however an ‘old lady scent’. In fact I think it’s quite fresh and young. It smells very classy and sophisticated, like others have pointed out, but in an elegant sophisticated woman sense who could be any age. I suppose for very young people this could feel somewhat on the mature side, due to it being so sophisticated and elegant, in that sense it does have ‘grown-up’ vibes. But being grownup doesn’t automatically make one old (unless you’re 5, then it’s perfectly legitimate to call anyone over the age of 12 old). What I love about this scent is that it’s wonderfully fresh and youthful. It’s such a bright, happy fragrance. It’s a perfect scent for spring and summer. It has a beautiful dewy quality, almost watery, without being aquatic, which makes this shine softly when wearing this. It’s absolutely amazing how they managed to make a scent so happy and bubbly, yet still give that sense of pearl necklaces and elegant clothes. It’s what the rich lady might wear strolling along the boulevard, one perfectly manicured hand on her white wide brimmed hat to hold it in place. She’s the picture of class, enjoying the sun on a happy carefree day. This scent is fresh and dewy, but soft and sweet at the same time. When first sprayed it reminds me of freshly washed linens. Later on I get hints of sunscreen (but only a hint), and there’s something soapy about it too, without it smelling like soap.. just a cleanness , like you just washed yourself with a creamy soap, but over it all there’s always a very light and bright freshness. I’m not entirely sure which note it is. Due to the amount of notes it’s not easy to pick out the individual ones, especially since this is very well blended. The scent is beautifully complex, different notes come forward at different times. One moment it’s lilac, then jasmine, then tuberose. On each sniff I pick up on something else. The ones that do come forward are the florals. The fruits and spices have supporting roles and don’t take the main stage. Surprisingly this fragrance isn’t powdery to my nose at all. With lilac, violet, Iris, musk and rose all being present, I would expect it to be at least somewhat powdery in nature, but there’s no powder whatsoever, it’s dewy. That’s the only word to describe this with. It’s the dewy quality that keeps this so fresh and youthful, if it had actually been powdery, then it may well have felt like a very mature fragrance. It would have lost its happy, sunny character, but this dewy freshness keeps it alive, sparkly and bubbly. It’s such a pretty fragrance! I did have to get used to it, because it’s not in my usual preferred scent profile. I lean more towards the warm, mossy and spicy, but It’sa wonderful scent for sunny days when I just want to feel happy and carefree. It’s interesting how a scent can be so classy and sophisticated, yet simultaneously makes me want to chase bubbles (albeit elegantly) like a child. And that is why I love this fragrance!

Versatile, Layerable, Floral Classic... Like a strand of pearls you can wear with everything from street wear, to a red carpet gown, this is a high quality, classic floral scent despite the inexpensive price. I first smelled it when I was given my first bottle by a close girlfriend at university. I really liked it then, but I've come to love this more over the years and even regard it as a masterpiece. Signed by perfumer Ann Gottlieb, it's a versatile, classic floral with magnolia, lilac, lily of the valley and other florals. I like it alone or layered over the matching body lotion, but more recently I've discovered that it's also a great scent for layering, and layers easily with other scents. Opens with a floral burst of magnolia, lily of the valley, linden blossom and lilac with citrus & green touches, that continues into a floral heart, shedding its citrus touches and taking on fluffy, light, fresh, rosy, powdery, whipped & velvety qualities, all resting on a musky, vanillic amber-woody base . On the skin I get a vanillic, soapy, perfume-y vibe, and in the air I get magnolia, rose, lilac & faint tuberose. On my skin this is slightly above average performance with a classic sweet-leaning floral scent profile. Overall: Versatile scent profile with slightly above average performance. It's a longtime love for me. 10/10. Contrast to Champs Elysées Guerlain: These are different, but there is some similarity in the sweet floral bouquet with lilac & lily of the valley, as well as peach, violet and sandalwood in the drydown. However, Champs Elysées is more powdery in the top, and has the more forward mimosa. Contrast to J'Adore Dior: These are different, but there are some similarities with magnolia, lily of the valley, peach, tuberose & violet. However J'Adore is more fruity and aquatic in the opening with pear & melon. It layers well with other Elizabeth Arden scents, ambers musks & woods you want to add floral sweetness too, and other florals. The possibilities are nearly endless, but I like to layer it to bring out either the magnolia or the lilac. MAGNOLIA Cultivation. With a strand of pearls and a classic six on Manhattan's upper east side, this is the scent I could imagine Charlotte form Sex in the City wearing. Signed by perfumer Ann Gottlieb, this beauty was love at first scent for me when it was released. Opens with a floral burst of magnolia represented by lily of the valley, linden blossom and lilac with citrus & green touches, that continues into a floral heart, shedding its citrus touches and taking on fluffy, light, fresh, rosy, powdery, whipped & velvety qualities, all resting on a musky, vanillic amber-woody base . On the skin I get a vanillic, soapy, perfume-y vibe, and in the air I get magnolia, rose, lilac & faint tuberose. Overall this reads as an magnolia scent to my nose. This has been reformulated, but in the air it smells the same to me, with the only difference I can detect being greener and soapier on the skin during the opening. On my skin this is slightly above average performance with a elegant, classic scent profile. Contrast to Vera Wang Vera Wang: These have been compared, and there may be similarities, but I find them very different. VW has a more 'perfume-y' vibe with some sharper facets, and a stronger performance. Contrast to Honey by Marc Jacobs: Another scent signed by Ann Gottlieb, there are different but with a similar magnolia vibe. Honey has honeysuckle more forward in the mix. Performance is roughly equivalent. Contrast to Versace Pour Femme Versace: Different scents, but similarities with a representation of magnolia. VPF is a stronger wearing experience, and leans more to scents like J'Adore Dior. Contrast to Jolie Fleur Verte Tory Burch: These are different, but my first impression of JFV was that I was smelling 5th avenue, and there is a similar vibe with a forward magnolia with citrus touches. 5th Avenue is the closest scent profile to JFV that I've smelt, but 5th Avenue is a stronger performer that can also be layered over its matching body lotion, making it appropriate for cooler weather. Contrast to Something Blue Oscar de la Renta: Also signed by perfumer Ann Gottlieb, these are different but there is a bit of 5th Avenue in here. SB leans more green-garden florals with green notes more forward, along the lines of Jardins de Bagatelle Guerlain. Performance is roughly equivalent in these two. Overall: Versatile scent profile with slightly above average performance, this is the perfect scent to wear with a strand of pearls, or for cultivating your inner elegance. It's a longtime love for me. 10/10 for a classic floral. Enjoy!

5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden is a true "pillar" of 90s perfumery. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be class. It is a fragrance that does not scream to be noticed, but stands out for its measured, luminous and timeless elegance. A discreet luxury bouquet. Despite the endless list of notes, 5th Avenue is surprisingly harmonious. It is not a "heavy" perfume, but rather an airy and sophisticated floral. The Opening (The Garden in Bloom): Freshly sprayed, the Linden Blossom dominates. It is a rare and wonderful note that gives a clean, almost light honey and dewy scent. Lilac and Lily of the Valley accentuate this feeling of fresh spring in New York. The Heart: After about 20 minutes, the richest character emerges. Jasmine and Tuberose add femininity, while Peach and Violet soften the tones. The Carnation and Nutmeg give that "spicy" and dry touch that prevents the fragrance from becoming too sweet or cloying. The Bottom (The silky trail): The finish is dry, clean and reassuring. Iris gives a powdery nuance, while Sandalwood and Musk create a creamy base that lingers on the skin like a silk scarf. It's the perfect perfume for the woman who loves the "Old Money" style or the "Clean Girl" look before they even became trends on social media. It is the king of daytime perfumes, reassuring and never intrusive for those around you. Seasonality: It shines in spring and autumn, when the air is fresh and the white flowers can "breathe" without being suffocated by the scorching heat. Longevity: Moderate. Being an Elizabeth Arden classic, it lasts well (about 5-6 hours), but tends to become a "skin scent" after the first two hours. Unbeatable price: It is often found at very affordable prices despite seeming like a niche perfume. Not very "modern": If you are looking for sugary or gourmand scents (strong caramel/vanilla style), this might seem too serious for you. Versatility: It goes well with jeans and a white shirt as well as with an elegant suit. Discrete sillage: It's not a "room-filling" scent, it's very intimate. Olfactory Signature: It is an immediately recognizable and very chic classic. 5th Avenue is not a perfume for those who want to shock, but for those who want to convey confidence and sophistication. If you love the smell of freshly bloomed white flowers and the "luxury soap" feel, it's an almost safe blind buy.

To me, 5th Avenue is happiness in a bottle. I am immediately enveloped in a perfect spring bouquet from the moment I spritz it on. It is very inoffensive and pleasing, but not overpowering. I definitely think this is work safe. When I worked at a job that had most of the employees clustered pretty closely together in cubes, I wore 5th Avenue almost every day and got tons of compliments (and no complaints, thank goodness!). I like it so much, I regularly respray myself a couple of times a day. I clearly remember when I first tried 5th Avenue, and it is a precious memory. My husband and I had only been married about a year. (We're going to celebrate our 27th anniversary this year...how time flies by!) My husband knew Safari by Ralph Lauren and Red Door by Elizabeth Arden were my favorite fragrances. He had saved up some money so he could take me to our local mall's department store to pick out a gift set of one of those scents. I ended up going with the Red Door, and the sales lady happened to be someone my husband knew. She brought out a gift set of 5th Avenue that the store had just received - this would have been in the 1997 Christmas-shopping time of year so perhaps I got one of the very first bottles of this beauty! Wouldn't that be something? Anyway, she spritzed it all around and on me, and of course I was instantly in love! I don't know what kind of deal the sales lady and my husband made, but it must have been a sizable discount because we were poor as church mice back then and he had already bought me the Red Door. The real prize is my hubby, but the 5th Avenue was a close second!

I vividly remember the day I "met" 5th Avenue. My hubby and I were at a large department store in the cosmetics department looking to purchase a fragrance for his Mother's Christmas gift. When we were ready to check out, one of the ladies behind the counter recognized my husband as they worked together years before that. At that time I enjoyed perfume, but I only had a few bottles. I was in my very young twenties and didn't know a thing about perfumes, notes, etc. So this lady tells me all about this "newest" fragrance, Fifth Avenue, that she was very excited about. Long story short, we walked out of there with a large gift set for me along with the gift we were looking for. I remember I had just started a new job and had to purchase some business attire, luggage for business trips, and more things for the job, so this was my first perfume purchase bought to fit with my new corporate lifestyle. All these years later, almost 25 years now, the job has changed, I have changed, but 5th Avenue has remained the delicious, delightful, yellow floral that takes me back to those years in my mind, yet is still lovable and very pleasing in my large perfume collection. I plan to keep a bottle in my collection always. ETA: I wore 5th Avenue nearly every day at the new job I mentioned. It was sweet one day when coming off of the elevator overhearing some coworkers speaking about me and saying how good I always smell. One particular girl said that she always knew I had come into the office because I always left the elevator smelling so good. Sweet memories!

This perfume like the color of the liquid and the bottle smells like 'pale yellow gold'. It is light and sits close to the skin so it isn't detectable by others unless they are real close to your face, skin and neck. 5th Avenue is gorgeous. Smells like little soft yellow and white flowers or petals in water. It's a fresh scent and floral but soft floral. It really feels like some vase with water in it and flowers that are in it with some petals having already fallen into the water. The white lily of the valley is very obvious as is the violet, carnation, jasmine, magnolia and ylang ylang. The rose is faint. This didn't go into a rose direction and was more white floral with jasmine and magnolia. The scent feels very feminine and delicate. The dry down is woodsy with some musk and vanilla. I can totally feel the vanilla. The dry down is powder also. A soft powder like talc powder for the body. It's a classy perfume. It's not too formal and not too 'power b word' but instead very lady like and pretty; fit for a Park Avenue princess or what in my Mexican culture they call passenger princess, a young woman who prefers to be driven and not drive her own car LOL It's for a lady of leisure. It's a luxury floral fragrance. And it's so affordable! Available at most CVS and Walgreens. This perfume today is outdated but it feels comforting and soothing and it doesn't matter whether it's an old or new perfume as long as the wearer is comfortable with it and loves it. And I love this one. Great for spring and summer as a casual scent for every day use.

The scent itself was beautiful in the nieties. It is very familiar to me, as I got this perfume from my father when it was launched and I was only 21 years old at the time. Even though this is not a perfume for a girl these days, it was a different time and perfumes were very different and I used to dress elegantly, so I loved the scent. I always told myself that one day I would return to the scents that once smelled good to me, and only now, in my mature age, am I doing it. I don't understand how I could be 25 years without that scent. It was beautiful, gentle, romantic, sensuous. The bottle is supposed to resemble a New York skyscraper, and the fragrance is intended for a successful woman, but I do not feel any executive vibe from this perfume, on the contrary, this is a spring fragrance for a romantic walk through a sakura or lilac orchard in a chiffon dress. A scent for a romantic date with your love. There isn ́t anything managerial there, although it was more than suitable for the office. I However, perfume was reformulated, linden and lilac was taken away and scent changed in negative way. Staying power,is a huge dissapointement or me. It lasts 5 minutes on the skin, 15 minutes on clothes. The ratio of fragrant essences is close to zero. 25 years ago, the strength of the perfume was somewhere else, and unfortunatelly entire perfume is somewhere else. It is on the edge of dislike for me. It still reminds me that gorgeous perfume it once was so I still want to have my bottle, but it is not the same perfume anymore. I am so sorry.

I wish marketers would abolish some of their characterizations and let a fragrance speak for itself. Or let Fragrantica reviewers speak for it. Nothing about this transports me to 5th Avenue and HOORAY for that! No haughty elitist or tacky tourist vibes about this one, yet it still smells like a million bucks! Calm; clear; slightly cool, yet friendly; a well-developed character, if somewhat understated. And super feminine. I overlooked this for a long time thinking it would smell musty like old Norell or cold like #5. But based on the notes and reviews, I went for a blind buy from dress-for-less Ross. Yes indeed, blind buys can sometimes crush negative expectations in the most delightful ways and discovering this jewel, hidden in plain sight all this time, has made my day. I'd say the best times to wear this is during the full bloom of spring and into the summer. However, it's now January, and I don't think I can restrain myself for another 3 months. Its inoffensive nature allows for formal, casual or professional wearing, but I think I'll wear it around the house, just so I can indulge in some wrist huffing without raising eyebrows. The bottle has a stately and overbearing look to it, presumably to evoke images of NYC high rises. Another incongruence of product and marketing. Still, the bottle is tasteful. The plastic nozzle, however, is cheap trash. Would've been nice if Ms. Arden reached a little deeper into her purse for something better.

My first review ever on Fragrantica was for Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue and I deleted it today! I have made such a 180 degree turn around on this one because, as a classic chypre and floral aldehydic fan, I had a very hard time recognizing the beauty of the aquatic floral genre and 5th Avenue is a beautifully blended fresh floral aquatic gem. Now that I love and appreciate others in this same vein (J'Adore, Guerlain Champs Elysee, etc...), I can appreciate its beauty. It should be in the collection of every fan of floral aquatics! It opens with an almost bitter, lime/citrus followed by what I think of as characteristically "aquatic" flowers -- well-blended lily of the valley, lilac, and magnolia. Although there is no melon in there (and I often have difficulty with a melon note), I almost smell (a non-offensive!) melon. While the spices (nutmeg especially) are not there in any obvious way, as they are in Givenchy Organza or Calvin Klein Secret Obsession, they're definitely present in the grounding notes, in the base. 5th Avenue smells like an elegant, dewy floral bouquet, plus spices, giving the overall impression of a very high end shampoo. Mmmmmmmm...! Longevity is respectable on me, lasting around 4 hours. To top it off, it can be had for a song at discount stores and fragrance discount sites. Highly recommended.

Feel like it's impossible to accurately write about this, as it's the first real perfume I ever owned. My mother was always a little wary of letting us get too into the things she perceived as being frivolous or 'girly,' so the visit to the discount perfume outlet was like getting into the cave of forbidden wonders. At fourteen, I knew nothing about perfume, and burnt my nose out almost instantaneously - 5th Ave might have been the one I liked best, or it might just have been the only one I could remember the name of when my mother asked. Maybe it's because it was a Christmas gift, but there's always been a note in here that recalls wrapping paper - waxy, woody and ever so slightly powdery. Maybe it's just me - does wrapping paper even have a specific, noticeable smell to most people? As a (kind of insufferable) teen I thought it smelled much more restrained and elegant than the richer, fruitier scents most of my friends wore - grownup, but not old. Even now I think it's pretty ageless, though I can see how it might lean more mature. The florals aren't too dry and powdery, though they aren't super fresh or green. They're cut flowers, but still with plenty of life in them, in a nice vase, in a well aired room.

Don't want to jinx my new bottle but this smells good. Light, effervescent, cozy. Made in Spain year 2023 75ml. My 8 years older bottle of 125ml is made in USA. Yes there is a difference but the structure is still sound and not completely ruined as one would fear. Musky and floral. The lotv note is conspicuous and done well. A masterful blend. Its one of the stunners this fragrance particularly since its available at a v reasonable and discounted price during sales. 5th Avenue is timeless, ageless and gender fluid. Alongside Red Door, Beautiful, Pleasures it occupies a special place in many hearts. Wish other yesteryear masterpieces were still widely available but sadly that isn't the case. So I took this though made in Spain. Wouldn't be wrong if I can recall correctly that it was 2007/2008 that I was presented a gift box of 5th avenue on my bd which contained a 30ml perfume, body lotion and shower gel. Unfortunately the bottle suffered leakage but not before completely charming me with its beauty and forever rousing my interest in perfumery.

I took a chance on ordering this perfume and was amazed. This perfume is centring,fresh, calming, confidant, vital and refreshing. My mood automatically changed when I put it on reflecting these traits. I smelled a fresh light scent of lily of the valley nothing overwhelming. This was touched with a tiny hint of light lilac and a supportive barley there afternote of sandalwood. When first applied you do get an orange/citrus note but it disappears within a minute The rest of the notes mentioned here I can't smell. I am so glad it is not sweet and I am definitely not into fruity perfumes. I actually tend wear more masculine scents with perfumes like this thrown in among my choices This perfume is not overwhelming and can worn daily. If you are into seasons, this is would suit spring, morning or daytime. For a very budget friendly perfume It is a definite winner for me.

A warm and comforting floral when first sprayed on. Then she dries down on me predominantly to a combination of lilac, Jasmine and musk. 5th Avenue isn't a hugely powerful scent, at least not on me, (I'd hoped she would be) the longevity on my skin could be better although the dry down does stick around for a while in a gentle way. I do like floral and citrus combination scents and find they work well on me. No perceptible citrus in this and the floral is more muted although sweet and quite complex. When sprayed on clothes 5th Avenue comes into her own and lasts for days on a garment or a handbag! I wanted to try this and Red Door as I know the latter is very long lasting. Will probably ask hubby for RD for Christmas! . Meanwhile I am using my bottle of 5th Avenue and she is definitely winning me over, she's elusive but definitely a lovely perfume.

if you can’t afford a high end perfume or don’t want to spend a lot on perfume but you enjoy expensive smelling, full bodied warm florals, a lasting scent and moderate silage then i’d suggest this. not for a gourmand lover or someone who prefers unisex or masculine-leaning scents. i used one bottle on and off for a year and fell in love with it every time i sprayed. don’t listen to those who say it’s old-smelling, they likely just don’t enjoy classic or 90s florals imo. fruit notes are listed but this is absolutely not a fruity floral. it’s a mildly sharp pure floral with a tiny pinch of cloves, nutmeg, a bit of amber and a drop of vanilla to warm it up, but it’s pretty good for any season. in my opinion, it smells like a classy woman in a bottle. i agree with suzanne_ronald that it reminds me a bit of charlotte york haha

I bought a big bottle of this on EBay for 13 dollars. Amazing deal. This is a great bright yellow floral, perfect for summer and spring, I imagine, but it’s September in Florida today and I sprayed this on to walk my dog and we actually got caught in the rain. When I came home I could smell this beautiful scent mixed with the rain water and it was heavenly. Made me smile smelling it. A love for me and I’ll probably will be rotating this with Diamonds and Emeralds from Elizabeth Taylor, which this reminds me of slightly, not smells like but in the same ballpark, as a daily choice for when I want to be heavy with the sprays and smell like a grown woman. Great lasting power and silage. A wonderful bang for your buck. The Elizabeth Arden house of perfumes is just a favorite of mine, I’ve never been disappointed.

I'd been testing it and hesitating about it for years, and I finally decided to give it a try. I am not a fan of EA because their perfumes are not very durable, but I've discovered 2 exceptions, and this is now one of them (The other one is Splendour). I spray it generously in the morning, and I can still feel it 4-5 hours later. It has a delicate sillage, it's not outstanding or overpowering, but it's absolutely there, gently radiating a warm, sunny, nectar-filled blossom scent. It's a beautiful floral mix, great for summer and spring, for both formal and informal wear. Office-friendly, elegant, smooth. Often available in sets with body lotion and at a reduced price, very affordable, great value for the price. Beautiful packaging, great for a gift for those who love rich, sunny white florals.

Opens up with lilac and lily of the valley. I can ́t really smell the rose in here (which is a good thing). The liley of the valley blends in with the jasmine so well and when it dries down it smells like a luxurious shampoo, a fresh bouquet of flowers that are not too sweet. Lasting is more than 8 hours but the silage is close to the skin. I get swifts of it during the day and "aaaah, shower fresh". The smell is pretty much linear during the day. If you like this one, you probably also like Dior J ́adore EDP and EDT, I think they have the same DNA. Office friendly, any occasion, all year, not offensive. Can definitely be a signature scent for me! I got a 125 ml bottle for 28 EUR but it smells expensive. For this price tag sillage is not an issue, just spray some more ;)

I really love Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue! This one surprised me. I just recently blind-bought a bottle and was pleasantly surprised. It's a beautiful, classic aldehydic floral with a powdery, slightly woody-musky base. I think it really does capture the feeling of what flowers on 5th Avenue in the spring would smell like after a gentle rain—that is the vibe it gives off. It smells more expensive than it is. I think it's an elegant, timeless classic fragrance that is suitable for both daytime and nighttime wear. I cannot imagine anyone not liking this—maybe someone with no taste. It is so much better than the current trendy fragrances that are so popular today, the ones that smell so cheap and synthetic and all have that same underlying “fuzzy” note that lingers.

A 90s perfume without aldehydes is unusual. This spring floral arrangement emphasizes magnolia and lilac in the opening. The citrus keeps it fresh and the other florals in the mid notes create an olfactory bouquet. A very feminine fragrance suitable for the office and any other venue. Longevity is about 4 hours and sillage is low to moderate. This is a very “girly” but not juvenile, understated perfume. This could be a signature fragrance for mature women, it does not however, shriek old lady! This is old fashioned in a classic way, not dated. I cannot believe I've not tried this before. I was passing a Superdrug which had this out on display for testing yesterday lunchtime. I put a spray on my wrist and on my chest and instantly liked it - soft floral and definitely a musky type skin scent undertone for me. A classic that still smells modern to my nose and it has really good staying power - I can still smell it on me the next day. Ordered a bottle - some very good prices out there. Will be my new daily scent as it's inoffensive, pretty, soft and musky. Ideal for spring summer but I'd wear this year round.

This is a fantastic perfume! It's an oldie, it's a cheapie, but oh boy it's a goodie!!! I have a 125 mL bottle I've had for years and years and it has not gone bad one little bit. It's such an easy-reach, friendly fragrance. Surprisingly long-lasting for something so cheap, and the dry-down is vanillic and beautiful. The deep dry-down is really good too, there isn't any note that is offensive to my nose, from opening to deep dry down. This scent is comforting, cocooning, sweet, floral. It's not my all-time fav, but I'd be happy to repurchase and have this for life.

This is lilacs on a fresh breeze. I can't imagine that this could be oversprayed or offensive. I layed it over Fresh cut Lilacs lotion from BBW and received many compliments at work and from my husband and it was long lasting. I will say that you don't get the full effect of this perfume from the smell of the bottle or on paper if you are testing. I nearly didn't buy it at the store because I wasn't impressed by the spray I did on a tester paper. I would wear this anytime of year, but due to the lilac scent it is perfect for spring.

Such a light fragrance. Very intimate, hardly any projection. Its a great all-over body spray after showering before you dress if you just want to radiate freshness. My husband really loves when I wear this while we laze on the couch. It's a warm, slightly sharp and clean/floral citrus to my nose with a hint of sweetness. I found the 4.2oz bottle secondhand unused for $10, and I'm so glad it's the big bottle because this is a several-times-a-day applier/refresher. Inoffensive, very office appropriate, casual fragrance.

This is a fantastic work scent. Not too overpowering but you can still get noticed depending on how much you spray. This is fresh, clean with a hint of spice and the vanilla comes out beautifully in the dry down. There's a lot going on with the notes, but it's blended beautifully and so smooth. This is a feel-good perfume. If you are feeling blue this will help lift up your spirits. It's mature but not in a dated way. The florals are pleasant along with the bergamot and vanilla. Can't go wrong with this!

I just love this perfume. Floral, feminine and fresh. It is generally inoffensive. I feel it's more of a Spring/Summer daytime scent. But, really could be worn any time or place. I wish I was better at distinguishing the various notes. (are there classes for that??) I do think I get the lilac and maybe even the lime. The others are harder for me to determine. Either way, it's a sunny day with blue skies and a fresh breeze. The woman wearing this is happy, confident and beautiful.

This one was an instant love for me. If you are someone who likes florals but not screechy, headache inducing florals, this is for you. It's incredibly fresh despite being floral. It's the scent I reach for when I simply want to smell good and "put-together." While it doesn't have the best sillage, it lasts for a long time on me and I can smell it on my clothes even after an entire day. It's elegant, feminine and so affordable and will always remain a staple in my collection!

This perfume, Envy by Gucci (discontinued), and Silences by Jacomo, are so similar that I've read it's the reason Envy was discontinued (not confirmed). I own all three, and the differences are so subtle it can be difficult to discern which is which. They are all very green with metallic notes and soft florals. Described as being for a woman with ice in her veins, it is perfect for brunch, a day of meetings, or when you want a crisp, fresh, and cofident scent.

This is a very pretty, clean, green, floral. It's fairly unique as it features Linden blossoms. I think this fragrance is especially well suited for spring or late winter when there are promises of spring. Too me, it evokes someone who is quite ladylike & hopeful, appearing somewhat delicate yet with a quiet strength. It also brings to mind both Hibiscus Palm & Fidji perfume, not the same, but strikes a similar chord. It was love at first whiff.

This is one of my all time favorite perfume, fresh, flowery, clean and interesting, I never get bored of this one, is addictive, I keep craving it, even if I wear different perfume I just come back during day to sniff bottle. It works wonders on my skin. Longevity and projection are perfect for buck. I can’t talk about notes here, it’s perfectly balanced symphony of flowers and pollen, that’s how my garden smells early morning in July.

Such a beautiful fragrance. The smell is fresh and floral but not too overpowering or something that would been seen as old lady perfume. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long for me on my clothes nor my skin so i have to re-apply about after an hour or so. I still enjoy this fragrance as it smells so elegant and i love the bottle. If the longevity was better it would be a solid 10/10. Amazing smell but poor performance :(

5th Avenue manages to be at the same time sweetly floral, yet tangy, on me. But never goes sour. It's a classy classic. Complex, but without any notes that give me a headache. I've always gotten compliments on it. The citrus blend of lime, bergamot, and tangerine cut through the sweetness of the lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, lilac, and rose. Definitely one of my signature frags.

This was my mom’s perfume, when I think of her it’s this. Young, powerful independent women. Mature and beautiful, sophisticated. I personally wouldn’t wear it, I prefer fun summer fruity scents but I do really love this. Initial spray is weird I won’t lie, something about it is off putting and acrid but the dry down is so so elegant and gorgeous. I am very biased though

This scent is so timeless and beautiful. I used to sneak into my parent's room to use my mother's bottle of this before I left the house. There's an elegance to this that may smell a bit old-fashioned to some, but it still retains that youth because of its fresh white florals. It's a wonderful spring/summer scent that's perfect for the office, and it reminds me of home.

this was my wedding's perfume by coincidence, i didn't plan for it but i was in a rush to appear to the guests. and i never regret it. so floral and feminine everybody still remember how i smelled got so many compliments about it. An aisle full of pink and white flowers with a breeze of summer air, this is what this bottle smells like.

I don't know why but this scent is so romantic for me. Not in a girly kind of way but more romantic vintage associations. It is that kind of scent you would expect a royal Lady to smell like...fresh Flowerbouquet with clean, sparkling zestiness. Needed a while to appreciate it as it wasn't what I expected it to be but it is gorgeous

Imagine being served a hearty meal when you are hungry that absolutely satisfies you, this is how I see this fragrance. A beautiful composition of flowers. No wonder it became a hit when it was released. And to add to it, the price point is a winner! Everyone I have gifted this to has adored it! Please try if you haven’t already.

by the by -it wasn't always that cheap. In the 90's ,before the era of niche perfumes and internet shopping ,in stationary perfumeries ,this was just a regular price fragrance . Also the spraying cap was golden back then. Juice itself was also stronger and denser . But overall impression is still there I think.

Creamy jasmine, ylang ylang and tuberose, with a lovely sweet musk, vanilla drydown. Not ground breaking, but next to jadore it is one of my favorite sweet, white/yellow floral mixes. Lasts super long and projects for good 4+ hours after spraying. Highly recommend for a sophisticated, rich lady, classy vibe!

Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue smells like a celebration, as someone wrote in a comment here, it smells like a wedding, that's right, it smells like a white wedding in early spring in a lime tree alley. Nutmeg with linden, a great concept of elegance. And it's very powerful, very good longevity and sillage.

I have worn 5th Avenue for years. It’s a very classy, rich fragrance. It makes me feel pretty and confident. I love the variety of floral notes. In my opinion, it’s a masterpiece. It’s uplifting and lovely. I can’t believe the quality you get in 5th Avenue for such an inexpensive price point.

I’m a male leaving a review for a female fragrance. It’s a nice, light, generic, fresh floral fragrance. My mother wore this, she passed away, and I have her bottle. I wear it sometimes when I’m home, and I love it. It’s really a classic example of how strong a fragrance memory can be.

I cannot detect the notes in this perfume but what I can say is this perfume smells so good. It smells like a warm sunny spring day with flowers starting to bloom. I haven’t yet wore this past the 8 hour mark , it lasts on me for 6 hours. Young adults & up would enjoy 5th Avenue.

Wow, I thought I wouldn't like this perfume, I thought this would smell too mature for me, but this has a nice, clean and floral scent! It's so pleasant and feminine, great for everyday use, not offensive at all! Also I think this reminds me a bit of Zara's Nude Bouquet 💐

The current formula of Dior J’adore edp classic is a shit for such high price. Very watery. Better get this classic 5th Avenue. After all these years, classic 5th Avenue still smell fabulous. Like the 90s era J’adore. It suits business women, rich girl vibe

This is lovely, a light, sweet and springlike floral. I think I was expecting something a bit more old-fashioned, but it isn't at all. I have had very good luck with Elizabeth Arden - all very reasonably priced and not a scrubber amongst them so far.
