Red Door 25 Eau de Parfum

One of my favorite perfumes in the original form before it was reformulated the second time. The original and second reformulation had great longevity and sillage, but unfortunately the third reformulated version has nothing (in my opinion) that's able to be compared with the original or second reformulation.

A nice long lasting & strong fragrance. Both the Edp & Edt smell almost identical, but this version is a little stronger. It lasts over 8+ hours and even longer depending on how many sprays. I enjoyed finding this incredible fragrance! :)

To me, this edition smells a bit spicer than the original. Although I love the spice smell, my skin tends to pull just the sweet, floral notes in this fragrance.

very mature strong powdery floral scent

I read somewhere that when a perfume matches closely with your body chemistry you have a hard time smelling it. That is what happens to me when I wear Red Door 25. Besides a few spicy notes I can't smell a thing. I wore this yesterday to a course I was on with my son in a closed room. I sat next to the only open window and it was a very hot day. When we left the room, my son asked me what perfume I was wearing because it was very strong. I was mortified thinking that I had stunk everyone else in the room out. He reassured me that it was very nice fragrance and made the room smell really good. Funny thing is I couldn't smell a thing.

My mother accidentally ordered this instead of the original and a strange thing happened. I hate the original: rubber tire smell. However, this version is an elegant, sweet, not overly powdery and slightly spicy feminine scent on my skin. On my mother's skin this version smells like rubber tires, and the original is a powdery floral she loves. Hmm... Very peculiar, but I'm happy I finally have a Red Door I enjoy!

I still have my late mother's mini vintage. I won't repurchase the new one I had recently, but I'll wear the vintage sparingly. It's just rained and I felt a compulsion to dab this on my wrists. It's cozy and creamy/soft/warm, not sharp like the reformulation. The sweetness takes a while to develop on me. To me, Red Door vintage version is all about the dry down! It lasts and lasts and projects fairly well. If this is what others love about it, I finally get the hype. I still can't get into the reformulation.

17. October 2014 By now i have managed to try it several times and i eould say it holds little resemblance to the original classic Red Door. To my nose it smells more like an "Aura red door" version with more berries added. Starts out very sickening chemically berry, you know, that bad synthetic raspberry and blackberry clear candy pastilles combination, add the cassis, the one you smell in Armani "Si", and you get the picture. Very bad in my opinion, i would not bear this kind of smell. They fade away within half an hour and then you are left with a light flowery-musky scent with a soft trace of violet leaves, which is nothing special for this price (around 70euros). I am really sorry, but this does not smell as promising as most of us would imagine. Not a heavy projection, except for the opening, neither great lasting power as the classic used to have. Just plain bad :( Please do not remove this comment, since others might find it useful. Not every review should be positive, so people like me wanted to make a blind buy might find it very informative. Thanks.

I guess I'm unusual in that I like the original Red Door and have for years. I was interested to try this new 25th anniversary one, so I sprayed it on my hand. It was nice for about 30 seconds, a sort of floral sandalwood, but then it took a turn for the worse. In less than 5 minutes all I smelled was a sharp, pungent scratchy-throat bitterness, very much like a men's cologne that wasn't very good. It took forever to wash it off -- in fact I can still smell it. I didn't get any of the honey or other sweet notes. It's as if someone took a billowy Victorian wedding gown and made it over for her flapper daughter. Not necessarily bad, but unrecognizable. (Edit: Final drydown = DEEP WOODS OFF. I kid you not.) Definitely going to skip this and buy the original before they discontinue it. On my friend, who sprayed the same bottle on her arm at the same time, Red Door 25 turned into a very feminine, sweet floral. Go figure.

I liked this fragrance in the store, it seemed a nice classic scent, one perfect for festive occasions and such, for which you would want to dress up a bit. I couldn't predict it would turn out to have such a strong, acrid smell with excessive sillage that I was literally choking when wearing it. It also gets absorbed in whatever piece of clothing it comes into contact with and thus the longevity is nearly eternal (until you wash it off, or wash the clothes). I see others like the perfume, though, so it might be just me being 'incompetible' with the chemicals, I don't know, but I honestly feel it a complete waste of money.

I picked up a used bottle for a cheap price, but I thought I was buying the Limited Edition Red Door, which is just a diff bottle with the original/reformulated RD in it. After purchase I realized this has totally diff notes, but the EDP formula intrigued me. However, I prob wouldn't have bought it because I checked the notes and reviews and realized that fruity scents aren't quite me anymore. And at first I kinda felt disappointed because it's UBER juicy fruity and antique rose. But... I'm really excited to wear this because my first tissue test (which I also got on my thumb) is turning a bit spicy, and a bit powdery, so I think this could be a winner after all! A vintage rose surrounded by fruit, spice, and powder. I say vintage rose because it does smell a bit dated. However, "dated" scents are my thing now, so I'm happy this wasn't a complete fruity-floral bore-fest. The dated rose makes me think of Beautiful by Estee Lauder. They are not similar, but the same kind of rose IMO. Not much relation to the original Red Door, but I haven't compared them side by side. I have the original EDT and a Parfum mini. I agree the berries are similar to Si. But as it dries down, I am still reminded of Beautiful. While Beautiful is a smoky-tobacco-rose this has the added fruit. Maybe like mixing Beautiful with Si? Haha.

Absolutely gorgeous and sensual perfume! It's very feminine, powerful, akin to a bouquet of flowers. Violets, carnation, and deep red rose dominate the opening which is an extremely powerful blast of florals. It's very strong so one or two spritzes goes a long way: any more and I get a headache. It's definitely too strong for the office but is ideal for romantic evenings, cool days, and autumn to winter. Red Door has very retro-vintage vibes. It was very popular in the early 90s and I remember catching the scent of it on my alma mater's campus at the time but not knowing the gorgeous floral scent was Red Door. It reminds me of cool, windy days as a student in the 90's browsing through books in new age stores as rose incense smoke swirled around. The rose, ylang-ylang, and jasmine remain the most prominent notes for me throughout although they turn powdery and soapy in the dry down which gives it an older, mature woman vibe. It's classy and sophisticated, ideal for a romantic date wearing or for curling up with a good book by the fireplace on a cold evening.

My mother bought this to see how much it was like the original Red Door, and ended up finding that, as most patchouli scents do, it turned very herbal and almost eucalyptus-like on her skin, so she really didn't enjoy it, and it took her a long time to wash it off. Because anything with patchouli is a bit of a touchy area for me, I was a bit apprehensive. The herbal properties of this perfume still hangs around slightly on my skin, but it dies back enough to be wearable, and creates more of a backdrop of spiciness more than anything else. The floral-muskiness of it is quite strong, and the honey adds less scent like it did in the original, and more or less drowns it in sweetness. Blackberry lingers here and there, but I'm glad it's not prominent as I'm not big on fruity perfume. Overall I think it's a pretty pleasing, normal perfume, with moderate sillage and longevity. I personally find it nothing groundbreaking or extraordinary, but it is lovely, and a good everyday perfume.

I recently got this perfume.. I describe it as living in France in 1870 in a village surrounded by meadows and your walking down them with an empty basket collecting pomegranate and berries for your secret lover who’s getting dispatched to go fight in the war you wish to impress him before he leaves for good. The heat of the summer sun making the berries smell cling firmly to your skin, as you lay there only to be awoken by the farmer son who laughs and asks for your name. Your eye lock together and you realises the time that has past and try and rush back home to give the basket to your army crush. It’s a flirty, sensual feminine fragrance.. it screams cottage girl lost in time, very vintage perfume. If your in love with smelling like a Victorian or a girl from the history books this fragrance is for you.

I, too, always thought of Red Door as an old lady perfume. The first time I tried it, I couldn't wait to get a shower. However, recently I stopped by an Elizabeth Arden counter to get some cosmetics and mentioned to the sales person that I did not like Red Door. She told me it's all in how you wear it. She said never spray it directly on your body. Spray it in the air and walk into it. Well, guess what, she was right. When I do that, it is not overpowering. It is soft and stays with me all day. So, for those of you who feel Red Door is too strong, try the spray and walk in method to apply the fragrance.

Very sturdy bottle. The bottles have improved tremendously. This reminds me a little of Knowing by Estee Lauder or Velvet Hour by Kate Moss. It is a sweet patchouli smell. If you like Believe by Britney Spears you may like this. It is very hard to describe I am still trying to put my finger on what it reminds me of. Nothing like the original. No soap or powder for me or heavy musk. I love it because it is a little unusual and thank goodness it is not another Lancome, or jimmy choo or flowerbomb copy. It is patchouli done in a nice, light style even a man could possibly wear this.

I am not fond of the other incarnations or the original of Red Door, but this one I like. I do not get the fruitiness however, which is good because I am not a gourmand-lover either.I smell the honey and to me it smells like red roses with a touch of some kind of herbally spice. It is too heavy for me in the Summer but it makes a nice Winter fragrance to break up all the warm oriental spicy notes in my usual faire.

I ordered this by mistake, I thought I was ordering original RD. I'm so glad I did, I love it just as much as the original, they are very different. It is a limited edition so who knows how long it will be available so I immediately ordered another 100ml bottle. I am completely enamored with this scent, I receieve so many compliments. I hope Arden never stops making it.

The cassis, violet leaf and patchouli give it a very smokey peppery scent on me that I like a lot. Reminds me of tobacco and incense and black pepper. I do not get berries, sweet florals or honey at all. Which is a good thing to me. It mellows down to a bit of powder but still has that peppery edge to it. I like this version much better than any of the other ones.

I smell no fruits at all and a lot of incense-ish stuff. I really like it. OK--it has been on for about 2 hours and I smell a lovely combination of red roses and blackberries but still a lot of incense--maybe the honey and patchouli and sandlewood? This is a rich, opulent perfume. Very comforting to me. Like a heavy brocade bedspread on a deep feather bed...

I found it really nice, soft and juicy! the sales rep told me it isnt any different than the original, I kind of disagree, this is fresher, sweeter, much nicer!! but I dont know where the truth is, I liked it, very casual, pretty, easy to wear, but expensive in my opinion for a simplistic scent.

Sister brought this for me,I did not realise that it was different till I sprayed it and then thought it was horrible. Have worn red door original for years and love it but did not like this.

To my nose this really smells like Guerlain L'huere Blue. It does have a classic/vintage feel without any old lady association. It smells very wearable for what it is! 👍

Dark, deep berry fruits and cassis? Atop a bed of sandalwood, patch honey and musk? Sign me up!
