Spiced Green Tea

Man. Man oh man. I just received a sealed gift set of this from eBay, spritzed it on my arm, and I'm holding back tears at my desk. My first girlfriend wore this - she was my first love, and on my inhale of this warm, comforting scent this afternoon I was immediately and alarmingly transported back to 2004. I was 19, naive, and desperately and passionately in love in the way only 19 year olds can be. When she went away to university, she left behind her empty bottle of Spiced Green Tea so I could sniff the lid and think of her (I did, endlessly). I used to wear YSL Babydoll (RIP) at that time, and what I've give for another whiff of that. Trying to put my emotions aside, this is a beautiful perfume. Beast mode, complicated, or an absolute head-turner? No, not really, but that's not detrimental. Elizabeth Arden is my favourite perfume house, and delicacy is what they do best. I have several of the Green Tea flankers, including the original, and I think they're all pretty much unbeaten on light freshness. The tea note is spectacular, warming and zingy, and this flanker is shot through with a close warmth from the spices. To me, all of the Green Tea scents are degrees of uplifting. They make you feel like you've got your stuff together - not in a powerdressing, bad bitch way, but in that your house is ordered, your laundry is done, you're freshly showered, and all is well. Calming. I've decided I can't divorce my feelings from this. Completely biased, and I was lucky enough not to get a 'spoiled' bottle. Absolutely beautiful in its calm, uplifting simplicity.

Revisiting this one after a long, long while - I threw the last of my vintage bottle out because (as mentioned by others) it did indeed go off, but I loved the fragrance so much I was prepared to try again. So.. freshly sealed pack (tho still obviously dated as it was discontinued a while back) and - BIG smile! - this is still just as fresh and vibrant as I remember it! I know this one is a bit 'marmite' (you love it or hate it) and, like the original Green Tea, it is not the most taxing fragrance ever, but it doesn't pretend to be. To my mind though, this is still an infinitely wearable triumph! It is lightly warm and spicy. Gently fruity and comforting - a light spice with a little zing about it. Projection is good, it lasts and lasts, it makes me feel great, and it lifts my mood - what is there not to like here? I doubt you'll get samples these days, but I picked up my sealed pack for a tenner. If those spices appeal to you, honestly, you could do much worse!

Have you ever felt like you cheated on a school test when you find a special perfume for next to nothing? And even more so when it's an excellent alternative for an expensive niche fragrance that you've been hankering for? Spiced Green Tea is that for me, and is the fraternal twin to Serge Lutens Five O'Clock Au Gingembre. I bought this on thE bay for under $14 for 3.3oz (including shipping!). Slightly sharper and with woody anise instead of Five O'Clock's dry cacao. Neither fragrance has a whole lot of tenacity as far as longevity goes, but at $120 for SL's 1.7oz, I'm very happy with this less expensive option. Bright and citrussy to open with ginger and rhubarb adding an edginess. Then it warms down to a delectable spiced, floral incense with subtle tea and woods. Hot and energetic. I'm loving this all the way.

Really quite fabulous! It can still be found in the UK on some of the perfume websites for next to nothing, and is the deal of the century. Rich, warm, spicy; smells like liqourice to me and has an 'edible' quality. Lasts very well on my skin, and has a coziness to it. Very much a winter perfume for me, but I can wear it any time. I try to ration it as I know at some point I won't be able to find it any more. Get it while you can, ladies (and gents as I think men could wear it too!)

This fragrance on its own is nice, but not all that exciting... however pair it with M Mariah Carey and the combination is divine! UPDATE: Also layers very nicely with Bvlgari Omnia... maybe even better then M...

I like this and use it when I am hanging around the house in the fall and winter. I also pair this with Hugo Boss Deep red.

Bought this on a whim because I love the original Green Tea, and someone on here had said it had notes reminiscent of YSL Opium (1977), which was absolutely fascinating to me because in my mind these two fragrances could not be more far apart in the spectrum of perfumery, and since Francis Kurkdjian has become somewhat of a legend at this point, I thought for a small gamble, I had to know what was the fuss all about. Bottle itself is nothing terribly special, though for being a "budget" fragrance, it has a rather lovely variation on the original EA Green Tea bottle in a soft autumnal colorway. They even took the time to make the seal along the atomizer a coppery orange, rather than the standard silver, which shows some care in its packaging design. Credit where credit is due for making the effort to continue the autumnal feel, even in the smaller details. The initial blast was very medicinal off the bat - strong peppery, ginger, and herbal experience though I am willing to overlook it at the moment. In my experience, I've found that with spicier fragrances (woody, incense etc), they sometimes require a little settling into themselves before their at their most enjoyable. The folks over on FragranceTube (aka FragTube) call this "maceration" but to me it is simply an aging in the components themselves, but I digress. I think I'll need another wear after 24 hours of opening to truly judge it properly. There is a very lovely secondary cardamom and anise scent that shines through that gave me a reminder of some really incredible Indian restaurants I've been to in my time, and under that, the softest brush of tea leaves - though I am not sure if it reads as a black leaf or green leaf to me in this composition. It feels almost chai tea like. After dry down and on the skin it has a nice mellow sandalwood and patchouli incense note that is probably the softest rendition of "clean spice" I've ever encountered in a fragrance. For me, beautiful memories of early fall, right as summer wanes and autumn begins - when the daytime is still hot, and the nights start to get that chilly snap as the leaves start to turn. Pumpkin spice feelings, no syrupy sugar aftermath. The man is a legend for a reason, to say so much with rather little is impressive. I would suggest this perfume to someone who loves oriental incense and spicy scents but has a tendency towards headaches in their stronger concentrations or to those of us who would willingly wear YSL Opium (1977) to the office, but out of respect to sharing close space, don't want to gas out our co-workers. It's a shame it's been discontinued, but gives me incentive to maybe check out some of his more expensive undertakings in his own scent atelier.

Revisiting this one after a year. Warm spicy or "amber spicy" is a very inaccurate description, this is a very dry, bitter, green fresh spicy fragrance. It's cardamom and an earthy, bitter spice rack with a healthy dose of chlorophyll. One of the most, if not the most, masculine Green Tea flankers ever made, and very, very different from the original. It's unusual, and worth the sample if you like bitter or fresh spicy fragrances. It is certainly very unapologetic about being a spiced tea with no cream or sugar! Lasts about 4 hours on me, which is on par with the original Green Tea. I like it, and recommend it as a fairly cheap spicy fragrance for those who want no vanilla or amber or musks in their spice, and like it nice and dry and earthy. All the early Green Tea flankers (and of course the original) are composed by Mr. Kurkdjian himself, and are much more strange and ambitious than most of what came after. It's nice to know that before the Green Tea flankers were seen as cheap body mists that lack ambition but are easily likeable, they were quite the opposite -- aromatic, bitter, dry, and deeply polarizing, in a way that is thoughtful and truly artistic! Lasts about 4 hours on me, on par with the original Green Tea. ★★★★☆ EDIT: Layering this with a milky vanilla cheapie like Pepe Jeans for Her or Curve Crush makes for a lovely milky/vanillic/earthy/peppery pairing. This is a nice one to layer.

A true unisex scent. Neither feminine nor masculine. Smells rather musty, honestly, but in a good way. Like a sophisticated, well-blended version of those cheap gas station "pheromone" oils. It's neither sweet, nor masculine aromatic. It's just very dry, rather sensual and "musty" in an old clothes way. I can't explain why, but I enjoy that a lot about it. I keep smelling my arm and will definitely keep it into rotation. It smells like thrifted linen shirts and old fur coats, ginger root tea and a kitchen spice rack. Unlit cigars too. I like all those things and want to smell like them. You have to have a bit of a sleazy side to like this one. I like that this is a Kurkdjian fragrance, it's an interesting side to him. This is very unabashedly cheap smelling, but has the sophistication of something blended by a very well-trained nose. Like a cult-classic drug store cheapie, but without any aldehydes or screechy white floral/syrupy notes. Just shameless, unabashed dry spices and musk. I've met countless women that could pull off Baccarat Rouge 540, but I'd like to meet the woman that reaches for this.

unlike anything else i've ever smelt, in a good way :) i can smell the spice note very clearly on initial spraying... then i smell the tea, kinda mixed up with the spices. ginger, cardamom aren't distinguishable for me. but it smells like i walked out of the kitchen; albeit smelling great. this is a curious mixture of scents, and i gotta say, they've done it well. to have pulled off spiced green tea is no mean feat. not overpowering or annoying... this smells like a warm and mildly spicy fragrance on me. sticks to the skin, though and needs reapplication every 4 hours or so, if you really want other people to smell it! for me it's enough that i can catch a whiff of it every now and then, hopefully other people i come in close contact with catch a glimpse of this too. i would not buy this as a gift, this is an extremely individualistic scent. but i find it lovely.

When I first smelled the box and nozzle, it definitely smelled vintage, 90s oriental, which I think is right up my alley as I love Opium EDT. On my wrist, I first got a lot of the OG DNA of cool green tea with added warmth and, after a bit, some anise/liquorice. With a few sprays on body, I got a burst of ginger for a few moments before it dissipated. Somehow, getting more verbena afterward. Still trying it out, but I really like the profile, just wishing the performance is a bit stronger on me. MFK has that interesting crystalline quality, but I'm honestly way more impressed by Kurkdjian's EA works. To elevate a budget perfume to something beautiful must have taken a tremendous amount of talent and mastery.

This is great for gloomy days like today! It has a drowsy-like quality to match the weather. The ginger isn't too sharp, it's just warm, probably thanks to the cardamom. Thankfully I don't get any incense from this, or many of the other notes, just the ginger, cardamom, tea, sandalwood, and a HINT of lemon verbena. This has been known to last 12 hours on me with enough sprays (and I believe I layered it with Cashmere Glow from Bath & Body Works). This goes for all seasons, but I would only wear it when it's cool and cloudy/rainy. It's just that kind of scent for me. It certainly smells like tea with a bunch of spices. If you layer it with something vanilla or lactonic, you get a chai vibe.

I bought used Spiced Green Tea and the first spritz was terrible old man tobacco smell. But if I tried it later it was nice unisex version of the Green Tea. I think the beginning was just gotten bad in the tube (oxygen maybe). The green tea base makes it indeed cold, despite the spices like Nuppu said before. I think I won`t be wearing it in the winter. It is the first scent I can wear in the summer (fruity-florals always turn synthetic on my skin). If I want to get bit sexiness into this one then I layer it with sweet (also powdery) scents. I am not into sweet scents, this way I can make them tolerable and even nice.

This is really rather nice! Spiced Green Tea is a nicely blended spicy floral scent where the ginger and anise dominate the top notes instead of the usual citrus. The tea is in there somewhere but it isn't centre stage. I can see where other reviewers are coming from when they refer to Omnia/5 O'Clock au Gingembre - this is a lighter, sparklier version minus the chocolate notes. It's definitely unisex, but there's sweetness present when I tested it on my skin. I can definitely see myself wearing this in the summer, but I suspect I'll have to bring the bottle with me to boost its longevity.

The tea note in this perfume is not really intense, it is spicy and at the same time crisp. It is much more interesting than the Green Tea made by Elizabeth Arden. The only problem I have with this fragrance is that it does not last on the skin at all. I prefer to wear something that will stay with me and this one just didn't do it. For a person who doesn't like heavy perfumes, this may be a nice one to try.

In short - Green Tea Spiced smells like sweet granulated lactation fennel tea. It is a quite successful mix of Green Tea Intense and Guelain's Aqua Allegoria Anisia Bella. If you like both - this is gonna be your next favourite!

This smells very similar to Givenchy Eau Torride and also similar to Eau Ressourcante by Clarins. It has Spice and Bergamot at the same time. Very good, ideal for a summer evening when you want both lightness and character.

The tea note is not really intense. It's more spicy, fresh, and slightly sweet. It's definitely unisex. Doesn't last very long on my skin, just about 3 hours. And it is inexpensive 🙂

Fresh yet spicy, perfect for "Indian Summer" and what I would term a good "work smell", it's a bit non-descript but still nice.

This is a gorgeous supple perfume with a problem: lasting power and sillage. First spray has that soured sharp note you can expect from most all EA Green Tea flankers, but more rounded and mixed heavily with anise and ginger. I'm not a fan of the opening of this or most of the flankers, however the star is not in the opening but in the dry down. An hour in, this scent grows warm, creamy, smooth, and delicious. Softly spiced anise almost milky, with hints of lemon in the background and green tea in mid. There's something sweet, fresh, and cozy about this fragrance. Which is all the more reason why it's such a shame that it settles to a mere skin scent. I sprayed 5 full sprays onto one wrist just to get a better taste of it, and 4 hours in, I'm left with a scent I have to lift my arm to smell. All of the EA GT flankers are more like freshening up sprays, so if you'd like this to last the day you will have to reapply midway through. If this had 6-7 hr lasting power and at least arms length sillage, it would be a star perfume. Unfortunately, straining to smell a fragrance is not my thing. I would imagine this would go better as a closet spray when packing up sweaters for winter or so. A nice hint of scent when reopening, but little more than that. Would be so much more lovely if it were.

Awful.At the beggining is too citrusy,it reminds of cologne of an old man,than it settles to very light tea and it dessapers after 10 minutes.What is wrong with this one???? The notes listed here are great but the frag is the total loss of money

When I tried it, the spices (I felt pepper) went through my head. A smell so strong, so hot, my eyes had filled with tears. The green tea's aroma was very light, quite distant... On me not long lasting.

Could I have purchased a bad bottle? Worst fragrance I've ever smelled...and wait for it...I collect Francis Kurdjian fragrances because in my nose he can do no wrong. So what happened here? I'm going to believe my Spiced Green Tea bottle was tainted. Just awful.

smells like mosquito spray and body odor. i love the green tea series, so this one really disappointed me.

I agree with the reviewers who find it a tad too masculine. In the shop, smelling the tester I was pretty sure it had gone off; later, I had the chance to get a full bottle at a ridiculously low price, so I gave it another go. It's a prickly, dry fragrance that makes me sneeze (and the sprayer dispenses huge wet bursts of the stuff); no sweetness to it, yet with a transparent quality that distinguishes it from other, classic spicy oriental scents, which tend to be heavy. This transparent quality is the only sign of kinship to the original EA Green Tea. I found I wasn't using Spiced Green Tea enough to make possession of it worthwhile, but was unwilling to get rid of it as I loved the bottle design so much. So now I layer it; it tempers the choking sweetness of, say, Charlie Gold: the offspring of these two cheapies is interesting and complex.

imagine you are preparing a cup of a little delight after walking home from work in the coldest winter of the year..you put the greentea to a teapot of hot water while waiting you lit a candle for the teapot to keep it warm now your tea is ready you pour it to your cup and smelled the aroma then you put a little squeeze of lemon juice to it and a bit of spices to spice it up a little after drinking you blew the candle and sniffed some of the smoke mixed with the hint of the residue of the tea in your mouth and after that your left with nothing but an empty cup of tea and an unlit candle.. EASGT is a light tea scent with a hint of citrus and spices.. after 10 min you will smell this smoky almost cigar scent and then it disappers like you are portraying the empty cup of tea you are left with.

Got this as a blind buy off eBay, was a bit over zealous with my bidding and ended up with two bottles!! got the 1st bottle 50ml, sprayed it on, Sharp blast and straight to an awful musty smell, almost tabacoo smell.. So dissapointed..Recalled a review of an Old Mans Cologne and that’s what I felt.......BUT today I received the 2nd bottle 100ml and after yesterdays experience - I was not eager but i thought, no open it and give it another go and I am so GLAD I did cause the 1st bottle was definitely OFF... I like this!! it's refreshing. Blast of sharpness in the beginning which doesn’t last, Slightly sweet and clean cut, and slightly masculine in the dry down - but I like that too... Doesn’t last very long on my skin unfortunately..

All the recent reviews about bottles being off are scaring me from acquiring a vintage bottle of this. I used to wear it in the early 2000s, and in fact used up a couple of bottles back then. While I would love to smell it again, it sounds as if buying an old bottle would be a mistake. It sounds as if it doesn't last. Has anyone has a positive experience with a recent buy? What I remember is that this was musty and spicy, like someone poured spices into tea and boiled it on the stove. It was great, a comfort scent. Cardamom is such a soapy spice. Wish they still made this fragrance.

I'm not sure the elaborate pyramid of notes has any relevance at all in this case, I get tea and spices, and an opening that I fsn only describe as liquorice all sorts, sweet, somewhat synthetic, but strangely comforting. Longevity and performance are fairly poor, but it's still fairly accessible, and can be picked up for an inexpensive price. I love this line, and whilst I don't think it's a patch on the original, it's still very nice, lovely to spritz before bed on a cold winter's night.

No No and No! This is not nice at all. Yes it is spicey but like Indian cooking which as food is a good thing but not something I want to spray all over my self. I really wanted to like this but it just smells spicey in totally the wrong way. I only saw it once and have never seen it anywhere again in the stores. As usual it doesn't last more than a second like the other tea versions.

to me ginger is more intense than tea.unfortunately I'm not a great fan of ginger.it can almost be a unisex fragrance.so spicy perfume fans would adore this,though I think it lacks the character that most of spicy perfume fans seek in a perfume.to me it smells too sour and too spicy. in the end I should add up that the long lasting power is much better than original green tea.

This is UNISEX as all get out tho I think my neice will like cuz she loves the male scents n those do work good on her. Then is a arriba ápice prócer Blast! I like Green Tea n this is very nice dry down but for me I can't get past that unisex vibe...tho I would love it on a man --Yummy!! Bite me off a piece of that sexy!!

I got this out again today.. not sure it hasn't gone off.. (yes yes I keep stuff cool in the dark in boxes etc) it smells v medicinal somehow n I don't recall what it smelled like properly before.. Other people mentioning musty old clothes.. I think this one must be past it's best generally, the tea has gone cold..

Nice green tea note accented by the ginger, but it's not very strong. Good for an office setting or casual wear because it doesn't project very much. The notes are beautiful, they just seem very muted somehow. I wish this was a stronger scent.

I got a sample of it today and I can say that it really matches its name. In the beginning, the spicy notes are a bit stronger, but then, the tea appears. An interesting fragrance that shows you another facet of green tea.

Probably the best spiced tea-themed perfumes ever made. Fresh, leafy and spicy softened with velvety jasmin. Not too long-lasting but an olfactive gem. Pity it's been discontinued.

I love original Green Tea so thought i would give this one a try and can honestly say I really did not like this one, just too distant from the original for me.
