Splendor

Whilst I did not test this on myself, I can tell you that from the paper strip I tested this perfume on, I am impressed. I have been curious about Splendor for a long time. So when I sprayed it on today, I was taken back to memories of being as a child, but none that specifically pointed to any one person. Initially it started out soapy, which I didn't find pleasing, but when it dried down, I recall memories of playing outside on a showery spring day in the yard of my childhood home, and then again to the house we moved into afterwards, where the land behind our yard was amass with heavily scented wild white freesias, and I could spend hours of each day up there picking them, and never make a dent in the thick carpet of white flowers. But at the same time, it smells like the scent a warm spring, or cool summer day (in country Australia) where it's just rained enough to dampen the ground and create that ozonic scent that is cool but warm and familiar at the same time. The scent on the card lasted quite a long time, and whilst the smell isn't overly strong, it's something that can be easily detected by the wearer. This is definitely a future purchase. Update: I purchased the perfume. It was similar on my skin to the first impression I had of it on the card. There are no fruits in this, it's all flowers and wood. Bright, cool, warm-spring-cool-summer day flowers in a pine forest, with the most prominent floral notes upon opening lily-of-the-valley and sweet pea, and on the drydown, mostly hyacinths and freesias. It's slightly sweeter than I got on the card, and last a moderate length of time, but for the price for a 125ml bottle, I don't mind respraying. It's also only moderate sillage, so I don't mind spraying a lot on. I would not necessarily say this perfume is 'clean' so much as I would call it 'spring-showered on', because it's fresh and very, very, very bright and sparkling, but not soapy and clean you've been bathing. But saying that, I can also say this probably ISN'T a general crowd-pleaser, despite the many layers it has, only for the reason it's so very floral with little else to recommend it but the complexly arranged bouquet of flowers it offers you from start to finish. Normally packaging isn't a big deal for me, but I have to remark on the bottle being lovely. I like the bottle particularly because of it's simplistically elegant design. It looks good, sitting among all my bottles of perfume, even if they are inside a cupboard where they aren't openly displayed (try preserve the integrity of your perfumes, people). All in all, this is LOVE. My go-to (and only) for fresh scents was Green Tea Lotus, also by Elizabeth Arden, because it's a real pick-me-up when you've been sweating or exercising to any degree, but I think I might have move that to back of the shelf because I prefer this, because I adore super florals, and that one being a more citrus-lotus-tea doesn't really do it for me all the way. Move aside GTL, Splendor's taken your place.

Splendor was an internet 'blind buy' for me about 2 years ago and, as with my many other blind buys, I waited with baited breath for my parcel containing my bottle to arrive. Luckily, Splendor turned out to be one of my best perfume buys and at such an incredible bargain price for a huge 125ml bottle of EDP! It's a crisp, sheer type of floral / fruity scent that is SOOO incredibly feminine and womanly. It's not dissimilar to a perfume such as Pleasures but, in my books, Splendor far outstrips the (overrated!!) Pleasures by miles. I find Pleasures incredibly annoying for some reason (not sure why but there's at least one note in there that is very unpleasant to my nose!) and also very generically, and forgettably, floral. Splendor, on the other hand, is super charming, pretty and unforgettable. Even the apothecary type bottle with its little glass ball stopper is ore eye catching and less bland than the Pleasures bottle! Contrary to what some reviewers seem to think, Splendor is ageless and is the type of perfume that could easily and happily be worn by women of all ages - teenagers to great-grandmothers - and because it's so crisp, fresh and enervating it could put a spring in anyone's step and make them feel fresh and youthful! Also, it's an anytime, anyplace kind of perfume - dress it up, dress it down, and is ideal for an office environment because it won't suffocate and nauseate colleagues and almost certainly will only garner compliments (especially from men!). Splendor is a very lovely, high quality perfume with good sillage and great staying power. A little on me goes a long way and lasts for hours and hours - unlike many 'high end' perfumes, such as the lovely but quickly vanishing 'Blooming Bouquet' by Dior! I also have Arden Beauty which, just as with Splendor, smells gorgeous, high quality and lasts forever! Life is too short to be snobby and averse to trying, and enjoying,'drugstore' type perfumes. If Splendor was marketed under the Dior label, for example, what do you want to bet that women would be going crazy for it and would be buying it in their droves? So many people blindly follow everyone else, and what they think - and are told by fashion magazines, etc - they should like and aspire to. Those types of people need to be more independent and individual and do their own thing! P.S. I've discovered that Splendor is also gorgeous layered with Al Aneeq 'Baby Powder' perfume oil (available on Amazon.uk for around £4.00 for a 10ml rollerball - so cheap but lovely!!). I just swipe some 'Baby Powder' on my wrist and spritz a little Splendor over the top and then gently rub my wrists together and rub a little on my neck and I'm good to go! The fragrance lasts all day and night and smells SOO good ! !

Elizabeth Arden is for years my go-to anyday, anytime and for a good reason. Just today, I blind bought this masterpiece when I had a stressful day at work. It took one spray to the air to completely turn me around! Now I'm relaxed and happy and I smell like a fairy goddess. Imagine sunny afternoon in a tastefully designed flower garden with a gazebo under old willow trees and maybe a little pond with goldfish...The tea is on the table with scones and sandwiches, gentle breeze brings the scent of flowers to you... First, you press your nose to a hyacinth but it's a bit too close, rather you lean back and enjoy it from afar with Lilly of the valley and lilies, peonies, magnolias, soft wisteria, jasmine, roses and lilac... but those scents are very delicate, just flying in the wind. Your hand in laced glove brings a cup of jasmine tea to your lips... smells a bit like bergamot and green apple too. Some scents are nice and cosy, but that's that. Others, like this one, paints a whole lively picture in your head. You think it's outdated? I say it's been around for all this time for a good reason. In times when everyone jumps on every crazy niche mix (I'm looking at you, Bal D'Afrique with your play dough novelty!), I'm turning back to vintage classics. They will make you stand out just as much and they will be loved long after the fashionable "nobody-smelled-like-this-before" trend dies. Because cliché is cliché for a reason (and I say this as a relatively young person). To a less poetic note, the hyacinth opening is a bit harsh. But it only lasted a few seconds and the rest of notes balanced it beautifully. Someone commented that this is a sister of The 5th Avenue... Sister indeed, but not a twin. This one is a bit soapy but in the same time it's not too light, nor too heavy (as I expected from the notes), very elegant, like a long summer dress. The drydown does remind me of something dated, but it's far from unpleasant: it's still a pretty flowery dated trail, like an old favourite soap or a cup of tea that gone cold. To me, this, just like the 5th Avenue, is a year-round scent, fit for day and night, office, party, date, opera... I am deeply in love with the 5thA and I will repurchase it forever, not sure about this one yet. I lean strongly towards YES, ABSOLUTELY! so far.

I imagined splendor to be a sharp classic floral,something like estee lauder pleasure,which I also like,but don't wear often..lily of Valley mostly appears really sharp on me,so when it's dominant in a perfume,i prevent blindbuys Splendor isn't sharp at all,it's a soft,delicate,fresh floral,a tad green,not too much,just like freshlycut florals,strong but not in a harsh way,clean but not soapy and sophisticated,but not old..it's freshness is lovely..not an aquatic or green freshness,it's about fresh,young flower petals and fruits I love the opening part,crispy,fresh fruits blend gorgeously with florals,I can only detect some apple and a citrus note,which is not sour or zest and appears almost like linden blossom in combination with other notes,,floral part is comprised of my beloved ones,hyacinth,wisteria,lily,freesia and thanks God a non sharp lily of Valley Woodsy notes in dry down don't turn it to a rough scent,they just stand there in background to support this lovely flower garden I find it versatile,wearable and good for +25 years old..splendor is not a boring linear soapy classic floral,it's a sparkling,delicate but not watery floral fruity..longevity and sillage are moderate.. I really wished it was more long-lasting and projecting Edit: I saved my decant for spring but unfortunately now I don't like it as much as I did.honestly it's totally different with what I remember it to be.it's not as fresh and I can't detect much fruits or citruses.now I completely agree with below review.it's a combination of florals and woody notes and I can detect a strong rosewood note(I know it from dior dune).this woodyness gives it a dry,mature and deep quality which make it stand out from typical springy florals and be more sophisticated and memorable I still see it as a recommendable perfume,wearable year round and has very good quality while being affordable and has better longevity and sillage than my previous experience but I don't like it.after couple of unsuccessful experiences I know that I can't get along well with such woody florals so I'll remove it from my wantlist.my decant is more than enough for me

I have been getting rid of the excess in my fragrance collection. Those fragrances that I enjoy owning, but don't move my soul. Completely unaware, I found a new staple in my collection. Never have I bought something so reasonable, not really knowing what I was getting, and at Ross to boot. I knew this much. I read here on Fragrantica Splendor is a floral with what seemed as if there would be a focus on the LOTV. That sounded good. I have always been passionate about Lily of the Valley to the point I had to retire from wearing it for several years. Happily, my soul sisters Lily of the Valley,Lilac,Wisteria and Lavendar have reclaimed their place as my top of the heap favorites in my in-the-beginning favorite category the die-hard florals. Really, I am just an old fashioned girl with her heart in the nineteenth century, and feet in the 21st. Splendor is an olfactory journey through a garden of my favorite flowers.This garden is resplendent of the sweet-tart accord filled of powdery purples and blues. I am in heaven. I bought my bottle of perfection for peanuts at Ross. How can that be?? Splendor is perfect .Perfect in it's presentation of itself. It' s so much better than so many pretty fragrances that I have paid four times more for. I get the pure flower essenses without the chemical backdrop that many of the modern, commercial perfumes of today possess. It is simply flowers, clear and bright. Nothing to detract for the pure simplicity, which I love. I hope Splendor will be available for a long, long time. An interesting layering trick is mixing Splendor with a couple spritzes of Insolence and a little LouLou before bedtime. It's the violet and heliotrope addition that helps me sleep.But really, it's Splendor on it's own that makes me happiest. Pure magic!

Here is a perfume which is not pricey but is absolutely lovely. I do not think it is an oriental floral but rather a very balanced floral fruity. The balance between the top fruity acidity and the slightly sweet floral heart is really a masterpiece.I actually think it is one of the best balanced floral fruity perfumes, not too fruity neither sickeningly sweet at the top, nor too acidic or sour, a bit sour but with a very smooth transition from top to heart, and with a truly floral heart of lilly of the valley and freesia. And not too sweet at the base either. Because it has no or at least not much vanilla, the sweetness from the heart on is very smooth and floral. From the heart on the scent does not change drastically and does keep its character throughout the dry down. Lasting power is excellent but unfortunately sillage is not as great. It is a shower fresh perfume, which I enjoy better in the evening. Overall very very good, much but much better than most of the floral fruity selling for six times its price. It does smelll complex, has got density and depth and it is quite strong, which I like. I like it very very much. I agree that it is not a head turner and does not have a strong character or make a statement, but i think that most people will find it very pleasant. Contrarily to other people I love the bottle. The name and the ad are also lovely. Love the sentence. I think it has been discontinued because it is not listed in Elizabeth Arden's site. Has it? Does everyone know?

((Side note :I bought this fragrance because my close friend had it. However when I got mine it was definitely not the same. It was the exact same bottle but hers said "splendour" on it and mine didn't. It just smells nowhere near as complex as hers and I'm thinking maybe since she got hers they had reformulated it.)) This is a very, very strong thick floral smell. The note I get first is Jasmine followed by hyacinth and later a twinge of tropical fruits. It's feminine yet masculine, it's floral yet assertive, this perfume can be many things, Which is partly why I love it so much. I would label this as a Spring fragrance, and it lasts fairly long. However it's sillage is very low and it only radiates at forearms length. It is a very mature scent, and I think only few can pull it off. Although, I think younger people can wear it, they just need to appreciate the complexity of this fragrance. Personally I am 14 years old and this is my signature scent. I have worn it since I was 12 and my friend says it reminds her of me, we have a very close relationship so the smell holds a special place in my heart.

Having read the reviews about the supposed associations with "grandma smell" of this perfume, I was quite anxious about my blind buy of Splendor. Oh well, I thought, at least it is cheap and if I'd be disappointed with it, I could just give it away to someone else. But! Splendor is splendid! It is sheer, it is romantic, it is fresh - it's everything I'd expect from my summer perfume. Furthermore, the fragrance brings a lot of nostalgic memories for me - my hometown in the early 00's, elegant women in white platform shoes and pastel-colored dresses, gold jewelry and small, stylish sunglasses. They are drinking their cocktails in terraces, they are laughing and sharing their joyous energy - that's what Splendor is about for me. It's ideal in warm weather and it lingers beautifully throughout the day. Therefore, if you like see-through, feminine, white floral smells - Splendor is for you. Plunge into this prettiness!

Crisp, clean, slightly powdery and sweet. Every time I wear Splendor I receive a lot of compliments, so I should really wear it more often and intend to do in spring and summer 2014 :) Splendor is a truly lovely floral fragrance. I love Lily of the Valley so naturally I'm sold. I'm not sure which of the notes is stronger - LOTV or Hiacynth, but it really doesn't matter because the result is sooo pretty! The few fruit notes added to this composition give it a fresh quality, I assume, although the Pineapple might be responsible for the sweetness also. I am a fan of EA fragrances and cosmetics - always great value and quality for the money paid. If you love floral fragrances you should try this! I am wearing it today and layered it with a single spritz of YSL Paris to give it a little more punch on this cold winter day - the result is amazing :)

#113 The bottle is beautiful, the fragrance is beautiful and, considering the previous two points, the price is even more beautiful. For $15AUD, I was able to walk out with this and a bottle of Blue Grass. As I love Elizabeth Arden, this was a must. I usually blind buy them because they are cheap enough to justify it. The Elizabeth Ardens unfortunately all open in a rather 'same ish' type way, that makes it hard to instantly fall in love. But wait! What's this? Hyacinth and LotV? My two loves come out in a bouquet of pure love. I adore this fragrance! I even wear it on cold chilly evenings. I get amazing longevity, probably more than 9 hours. I like to pair it with the Sunflowers body lotion (don't have any body prdocuts for this, sadly) and a lotv body powder with it. It works so amazingly.

This needs a few minutes to dry down because when first applied it's an extremely sharp overbearing white floral with an overpowering Lily of The Valley note. Once settled however then it's lovely. This perfectly encapsulates spring in a way no other fragrance is able to do it. The pineapple and green apple notes in this give it a lovely watery fresh sweetness to it that I love. In a way this almost feels like a blend of other Elizabeth Arden fragrances, those being 5th Avenue and True Love but it still has it's own character. This has an extremely classic vibe to it and I'm surprised it was released in the 90s because it smells more like something from the 50s, 60s or 70s. Really enjoy this.

soft white floral,very nice. Lots of pretty white flowers and a little rosewood. The dry down is simply pretty. It is a little soapy, but that just make it fresh and clean. Perfect for work or an occasion where you want to feel pretty,but discreet. I don't think it would offend. I like it for campaigning, for my husband's election. It is lady like,feminine,and charming. It is also discreet,like Hiris from Hermes. It doesn't really smell like Hiris, but it is subtle and refined. The price is the best part. It smells expensive but it isn't. One of the most affordable scents I own. LOVE LOVE LOVE

This is well done classic, flower's scent. I would say it is in the same line with Diorissimo by Dior! But has no sharpness like in Diorissimo. Similarity with Lalique Fleur de Cristal (which I own too) is minimal- Fleur de Cristal is mostly very cold "somewhat synthetic lily of the valley and sharpness of some chemistry". While Splendor has more natural vibe, soft and with complex of flowers. I would say the main singer in Splendor is lily and narcissus flower..(why I feel here narcissus?). I have blossoming narcissus in my room right now and it smells just like Splendor.

I do love this scent. It's light and airy, very floral, very fresh. Not powdery floral, it's a clean green floral. Nothing too unique or memorable though, just a very nice, pleasant smell. Suitable for everyday occasions where you just want to smell nice without drowning people around you! I would picture a little garden around me when I wear it, my own personal floral garden. Works very well with my body chemistry, if only the sillage is better and lasting power is longer, it would definitely be my signature! But as of now, it's Bvlgari's Jasmin Noir!

A beautiful floral bouquet. I feel like every flower you can think of is in this, therefore it makes it difficult for my nose to pick out anything too specific. I find it has decent longevity with better sillage on me. It does stay closer to my skin throughout the day, more so on my clothes. Sometimes I layer it over a white musk and its very pretty. In today's day and age its nice to wear something that doesn't make you smell like a baked good and every other girlie you pass on the street. I'd rather smell like a floral shop rather than a bakery.

Yummy! Splendor is just perfect when you want to be sweet and cuddly or pretty and flowery....it would be great for church or the office. It is non offensive and delicate. If you were trying to decide whether to buy Alfred Sung Forever (as mentioned above, I have both) or Splendor...Splendor is heavier and the florals are much more distinctive. Alfred Sung is delightful and delicate. But personal preference for me is Splendor. A 4oz bottle of Splendor can be found on Overstock for about 20.00 or less. ♥ Happy Perfuming!

I agree with cisco and action,This is a BEAUTIFUL scent. ive already given my review below but,I must say again,its like a romantic star filled night with one lone shooting star,and that star is SPLENDOR.I cant believe anyone could not at least like this fume.BUt,to put it so grossly as sum have done is just vulgar and doesnt belong in this review site.Theres a lot of ways to say its not for me,without being so crude.All of u who matter,Im sry but,this fume as this site,demand more respect.

Compré este perfume solo por recomendaciones. En este tiempo de pandemia quería buscar un perfume para estar en casa. El precio es muy módico, la botella sencilla, el atomizador es de baja calidad. Sin embargo, el aroma me encantó. Es como abrazar un ramo de flores blancas. Es limpio, inofensivo y agradable. La salida es muy fuerte, pero al cabo de unos 15 minutos se va haciendo más suave y sutil. Es perfecto para estar trabajando en casa con un outfit 100% casual.

It’s such a wonderful, elegant, light, and fresh scent!!! I blind bought this because I love the bottle and my mother owns EA 5th Avenue and I think they actually smell a bit the same at first. I’m not an expert on fragrances but I can say that if you like the semi-grandma smell (it does have some youthfulness to it because of how fresh it smells), and you like white florals, you’ll love this. Be careful overspraying though, it may cause headaches.

Very beautiful with a big B. Indeed. Classic, sophisticated and exquisite lady this is. Very suitable scent for a business or other significant meeting, for an elegant dinner party. Beautiful white flowers and enough sweetness to please your senses. "Noisy little sister" to 5th avenue. Has the same atmosphere and classical feeling. Strong scent though. I will recommend to you all. All time classic!

Serene, fresh, flowery and absolutely gorgeous! Extremely budget friendly, lasts for ages on my skin and clothes. Good for work, weddings, and just for enjoyment. Compliment getter. I love these grand ol' scents with loads of different ingredients balanced and harmonised to perfection. I you like fresh florals you may want to try this one.

The bottle is just SOOOO pretty! A nice spring floral, I don't get much amber warmth. Feb '25: I like this so much more now. Something really green and nice. This was a cute and romantic gift from my sweetie that I have grown to love for more than just sentimental reasons. It's worth trying if you like white florals and/or vintage.

It is a cold wet winter now. I needed something to remind me that spring will arrive eventually. A soft floral bouquet with low to moderate sillage and longevity. Definitely office suitable, and very feminine. This is beautifully constructed. Men who recoil at more flamboyant offerings should love this.

Clean green floral. Makes you go Ahhhhhh... Lingers all day. Lily of the valley, hyacinth, lily and green. Signature worthy. F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E OF MINE. Floral beauty that ticks all the boxes. I feel so pretty when I wear this. I think this is what a perfume is made to do! Rating 10/10

This is almost the amber floral version of wild bluebell by Jo Malone. Similar green and aquatic (melon) opening, white and purple floral hearts, powdery dry down but more rich and sensual. The green notes in this one might come from hyacinth.

As March has started and we exchanged bouquets of flowers, I felt appropriate to wear this splendid perfume. This is what March flowers smell like, this is the very scent of Spring when it's emerging from the white snowy robe of winter.

I adore this fragrance, It's spring in a bottle. This is one fragrance that gets me lots of compliments. When people ask what I'm wearing almost no one has heard of it. It's way too underrated for a cheapie. It also lasts ages on me.

At first I was wearing it only for exams and formal ocasions but right now it's one of my most favourite! It says on me for many hours and on my clother ever for days (especially on scarfs). Definitely I will buy it again.

Halvah I LOVE your review!! Just like Vivid from Claiborne is this 'cost efficient' perfume AMAZING!! Wonderful bouquet! People should be glad to be able to attain such a gorgeous perfume for such an attainable price!

that's what I like, it's soapiness... freshness. At first I've got the sweet, just to awake the senses and then it turn. I can't really say what note it's more prominent but it's a very good blend .... cosy

Absolutely love the fresh scent with my wallet friendly price tag. Not too sweet, and very subtle clean smell, totally office friendly. I can't find any Oriental note though.

This was my very first designer perfume in high school! I saved up money to buy this and was absolutely in love with it! Quite a magical scent, so nostalgic and lovely.

On me, the most visible is the Lilly of the valley and the freesia in this fragrance. I love it and I think it has decent longevity. I find it refined and elegant.

I had wind blowing around me and I have got different notes, a bouquet of flowers. 7 hrs later and I still smell the base that's similar to Arden Beauty, to me

It's milder weather again here in Melbourne, whilst the rest of the country is smouldering in a heat wave, we have the luck to have it mild so far. The kind of weather where you flop around the house in your smart comfy clothes and the mood is casual. The ingredients in 'Splendor' are similar to many other fragrances in my wardrobe collection, which sad to say is probably way over the top too many. But I don't care. Each of my fragrances represents a mood, and they do give me great joy. 'Splendor' is a pleasing enough fragrance, as are most other Elizabeth Arden's fragrances. Which mostly represent excellent value for money. Just recently I have seen 'Splendor' being sold for under 10 Aussie dollars for a 125 mill EDP bottle. Though I've had mine for a few years now, and paid a lot more for it then. This is not a strong biting scent, at first application I could immediately detect the citrus and mandarin notes which on me dry down very quickly and hardly seem detectable, but in the background I can sense it's complicated notes faintly gaining my attention. You have to hand it to Elizabeth Arden's perfume house for consistency and product choice. I would love to own her entire collection, alas not all Arden's fragrances suit me. I see the words gourmand, foody and yummy often cited here by wise and knowledgeable Frangrantica members, who I avidly rely upon to gain a deeper understanding of something we all love. 'Splendor' seems edible on me. 'Splendor' might suit a casual day or a serious one, because I feel this fragrance is subtle am not yet convinced unique, however it is a good and pleasing fragrance to wear when a more serious and understated vibe is required. The base notes of 'Splendor' kick in quite early, within an hour of application, a slightly woody and green aroma still with a hint of creamy citrus fruits. Lily of the Valley is strongly there in the background. Reminding me of something my mother used to wear in the 70's when she herself was in her 30's. It might have been an 'Avon' fragrance? that I recall she used to love. Mother is now in mid 70's and she from memory always had a penchant for the spicier heavy scents ie 'Youth Dew, Paris etc. It seems strange I should be reminded of her by 'Splendor'. Many hours later after applying 'Splendor', and a good nights sleep, I could still smell the fragrance on my upper wrists, sitting very close to my skin. A whole 16 hours had passed since I applied this fragrance. Ps I use gloves for food prep and washing. Having to suffer unfortunately from dermatitis on my hands. 'Splendor' is a very long lived fragrance, again harking back to excellent Bang For one's Buck: Colloquially speaking. I would say Lily of the Valley dominates over the other notes with a soft hint of wood and musk. In my opinion and agreeing with others here. 'Splendor' is an elegant albeit generic fragrance, and most likely has been copied over and over again by the bulk of celebrity fragrances now available and of late flooding the market. Cheers T.

The most natural sweet pea/freesia scent I have ever found. It is also quite a bit like all of the fresh watery florals of the mid to late 90's such as L'eau d’ Issey, Pleasures and a less screechy Eternity to which this smells most like to my nose - a blend of florals and peppery greens which create dewy crisp fragrance with a soapy base and a touch of musk. Clean, without feeling sterile or chemical like febreeze or fabric softener, fresh and never offensive. Unlike some of my scents which I love and find gorgeous one day then aggravating a headache the next this is always wearable no matter the occasion, it's not super sexy or something you would wear on an evening out, yet no one would suggest that you smell like grandma either perhaps but it's good for daytime, and any season and I love it for casual wear (which is most of the time for me) when spritzing on my discontinued and $200+ creations feels like a crime. The price can't be beat and I have been stocking up whilst this is still readily available. A beautiful cacophony of fresh cut flowers like the aroma of a florists shop on a base of soft sandalwood soap with the peppery sweetness of sweet peas in the spring. Feminine, crisp and refreshing with an uplifting happy feeling, but not dull or boring. One of the few scents I own that I can wear in a heatwave without feeling overwhelmed. Something in this reminds me of a tuberose/mimosa-less Beautiful Love which I have worn many bottles of but was sadly discontinued - I find this a more wearable alternative as it's not as sharp. There definitely appears to be some differences in the recent 'Splendor' and the one I have. My bottle checks out as being from 2007 and it is a much stronger scent than my one with a batch code of production in 2013. Plus I have noticed the bottles for sales now are a slightly offwhite golden juice whereas the original was clear? Somehow they have reformulated this and whilst it is still a nice scent it's not as potent as it was which is disappointing.

I picked up Splendor today at a discount store and am unfortunately not enjoying it much. Maybe I was expecting more of a tuberose white floral -- which it is definitely not; no tuberose in the notes. I love hyacinth and lily of the valley, though, enjoying those notes in such classics as Anais Anais, and you definitely get that in the opening of Splendor. But as it dries down, Splendor just falls flat. It doesn't have the sparkle and edge (black currant?) that Anais Anais has, and seems to me to resemble its boring, nondescript, shampooey sister scent, 5th Avenue. In addition, there's almost a weird rubber tire smell in the bottom of Splendor, but not a pleasant rubber tire smell such as in Bvlgari Black (which also has subtle heavenly roses and tea). The lily of the valley also made me want to smell it alongside Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia (another cheapie that I picked up and don't think much of), but Gardenia is more pleasant (if still boring AF) than Splendor because it lacks the rubbery undercurrent. I probably will just pass Splendor on to my daughter or friends and see what they think. ************* You know, it's so funny with perfumes how I can reject something at one moment, then completely rethink it after I've detoured through & discovered another fragrance that suddenly seems to illuminate the original one I rejected! So, this time, the detour that has helped me appreciate EA Splendor was via My Burberry (the original one). What was the key? Sweet pea! I've discovered I like a sweet pea note and I can smell it in both My Burberry and Splendor. In fact, it's that sweet pea note that distinguishes Splendor from a very similar fragrance that I thought I liked better, Paul Sebastian Casual, and makes Splendor now my favorite of this genre! So, my advice to you is don't get rid of fragrances you're not crazy about (or even genuinely don't like); just put them aside in a box (or in your daughter's room!) and test them out again in a few weeks, months, or years.

This starts off w/ a green and very new hyacinth and wisteria. As it travels a crisp bergamot, juicy pineapple, and red apple come to the party. In the beginning it sort of smells like a fruit salad sitting next to a bouquet of hyacinths of early spring. After that fades away a bit lily of the valley comes w/ a greenish tea rose and a lemony magnolia and a poppy note. Poppy's do smell, we had them on the farm when I was growing up, they were my Grandmother's favorite flowers and she planted many, many poppy's around our property. They have a distinct smell green, milky and herbal, and I smell that in this perfume. This perfume becomes a bit old fashioned and soapy but I like fragrances like that so I do like this one. This quality is tamed down a bit as it dry's down w/ a base of richer darker woody notes and musks. This could be a bit headache inducing if applied w/ a heavy hand. Go light w/ this one to enjoy the pleasant bouquet. Very old fashioned though so might not appeal to post modern tastes. I can see this one being discontinued but my large bottle will be more than enough for my lifetime. Edit: 12/2/21 I just gifted this to my elderly neighbor. She has been feeling poorly and I went through my perfume collection and pick out a few to give to her that I thought she might like. This was one of them. While this is pretty I just find it isn't my taste. She was thrilled w/ the fragrances I choice for her. It helps clear out my ever growing collection that I have now vowed to stop buying. I think I do have perfumes now for all of my moods etc... and that fit my personality.

I'm finding the woodsiness is coming through really fighting the florals in this but that's fine cause I like woods so much, it must be the Brazilian rosewood that I'm finding the uniqueness in this that I can't put my finger on what it could be I haven't smelled before, very intriguing. The pineapple is noticeable as it dries down, and I do detect the wisteria (thanks to owning Desperate Housewives!) amber and musk, yes! love! At first spray I was worried this was just another fruity floral but after ten minutes this baby sure shows her feisty personality alright, she's a keeper! Edit - after having put this away for the winter and now in late spring, wearing this again, I am kind of amazed that I'm finding the sandalwood really coming through prominently this time around! I don't know why, maybe because it sat undisturbed for many months, but this is giving it a really nice unexpected twist. I was almost going to give this away trying to pare down my ever growing collection, but nope, keeping it for sure. It seems to have gotten stronger too, or maybe my allergies are just under better control.

"nice and not too strong," A generic, mature woman floral. I suspect I've smelled this same perfume DNA countless times in public because it evokes memories of riding the bus and speaking to my middle school librarian. The top notes upon initial spray form a green floral. My nose cant pick out the specific notes, but it smells like a big green and white bouquet. However, what was surprising was the dry-down. On me, it turned into a very subtle and clean kind of scent. Almost soapy but not quite. The musk notes have their moment to shine in the dry-down, and I appreciate it. I suspect if they dialed down some of the green florals in the opening and rebottled this stuff, it could have some popularity as a "clean girl" perfume. Performance is meh. However, it is a good contender for a work-friendly, non-offensive daily scent for when you can't be bothered to think about what you wear. I doubt it will have people chasing you down the street. However, a coworker with a fragrance sensitivity once complimented me on it because it was "nice and not too strong,".

Lovely floral beauty. I get why many think it's an old lady scent, it's really stong on florals and that big number of notes. The lilly of the valey note is extremely strong here and I think it spoils it for many people just because of the heavy abuse of the lilly of the valey air fresheners used in bathrooms, I admit I find it's sometimes hard for me to overcome this perception too. The best way to enjoy this baby is to walk naked (just after having a shower and drying yourself) in the mist of this perfume and wait at least a half an hour before going out. This works for me with many clasic 'older' florals and this way it can be enjoyed to the maximum, just try to resist the temptation of reaplying. On my skin after the initial 10 minutes of floral nonsense it becomes sweet, and the flowers (rose, wisteria and jasmine waft in waves and sometimes lily and the hyacinth peek through. then after an hour it changes to a more quiet and less distinctive sweet aroma. I'd recommed to wear it in summer with a nice dress with floral prints and some vintage vibe.

It was a blind buy for me. Way too many flowers for my perfume taste but there's something ... I've tested it many times, tried to like it, gave up on it and then started spraying it on my blazer rack. Just to use it up. I gave it another shot today because there was something making me restless ...I have it on my wrist today and I finally got it. It smells like those retro flower scented little soaps that my mum was buying, we put them in wardrobes, in between nicely folded clothes. I remember these soaps being too strong for my nose but I imagine they were so strong so that when you took a bath, it stayed on you a bit. Just like on my clothes after having those soaps around. After an hour it's exactly that flower scent. Now I just have to mix this with some vanilla or coconut lotion, to break that flower domination vibe. Overall, scent with depth, such a great buy for that price!

Could this be a sleeper winter scent? I tried Splendor many years ago and dismissed it as it seemed too heady for me. I decided to try it again after seeing the notes on Fragrantica, as I wanted to try a perfume with LOTV. It's winter in Melbourne, and I was expecting to be disappointed by trying a spring perfume out of season, but instead Splendor is working out surprisingly well in the cold! The florals are light but with the warmth provided by the woody, amber base they're rugged up enough for winter wear. I think the green, spicy notes give it a retro feel which makes me think of some of the 70's green florals. Sometimes I do wish the pineapple wasn't quite so strong to my nose but it's doesn't overpower the other notes. I like the apothecary-style bottle. I think it adds to the no-nonsense charm of this perfume. I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

This was my signature scent during my postgraduate studies. The white florals, sandalwood and musk combination made me feel like a proper woman and I finished the entire 125ml bottle within a couple of months. To get the most out of this perfume (to last all day long), I feel you need to overspray it. Longevity is above average for an EA fragrance and projection is quite good in my opinion. You can't go wrong with this for an easy reach spring feminine scent. Sometimes I think about repurchasing this fragrance. Update: Deliberated and repurchased a 125ml bottle. This will most likely be the last time I do so. My nose has become very acute to rose notes and I find the rose note in this to be quite sharp and headache inducing in the opening and mid. I still like the scent, still spray liberally, but I will put it to rest once I've used up this bottle.

A light, airy, effervescent and ethereal scent. If fairies existed, this is what their scent would be like. This scent is elevated and has a purity fit for angels. It is considered a preferred wedding fragrance for good reason. It is like Brut Champagne mixed with Sprite and Club Soda when it is fresh. As it macerates, it turns into Champagne, Ginger Ale and Sprite with more sillage. Then it has a similar DNA to Tommy Girl with the heavier Jasmine notes but a tad less sweet. It is a beautiful scent but it does not have lasting sillage due to it's light profile (or until it macerates). It is like a whisper after the initial blast. The modest bottle design does not do it justice as a more ornate crystal faux diamond encrusted design would have been more apt. It is the counterpart to EL's Pleasures and I would say EA's Splendor is more fizzy or bubbly.

I treated myself to a few fragrances recently and this was one of them - a blind buy that was cheap enough not to agonize over if it didn't work out. The first sniff, from the bottle, triggered a scent memory that I couldn't quite place. I knew it reminded me of something in my distant past - something with a very prominent hyacinth note from the seventies or eighties - but I couldn't figure out what. At first I thought Charlie, but this was much softer, slightly fruitier and much less strident. The next day I did a skin test and then it hit me: Splendor is, to me, very reminiscent of Anais Anais which was one of my very first scents back in high school. It must be the hyacinth/lily/combination. I love hyacinth forward scents, even if they are not trendy now and I'm so happy to have this in my collection.
