Diamonds and Sapphires

Escape by Calvin Klein, but ten times better. High quality time capsule. The ‘90s untouched. Aquatic fresh goodness. Calone (the molecule) in one of its best presentations. Lily of the valley made wearable. Fresh, well-rounded aquatic melony floral fougère. Fragrances made in the US are not necessarily subject to the strict IFRA regulations that restricted perfume ingredients in 2005 and destroyed countless classics that were made in France or other European countries and intended for distribution in Europe. New categories emerged and new lines were drawn after 2005. The “screechy” phenomenon took over and deflated many classics that relied on certain natural ingredients such as oakmoss. Ironically, oakmoss isn’t listed for Diamonds and Sapphires (as it is for Escape). Fruitchoulis, candy florals, and woodsy ambers that smell cheap and “cheap” continued the takeover that began with Angel, and they were able to adjust to the forced change in ingredients. Pretty soon perfume was everything that Elizabeth Taylor fragrances aren’t: the olfactory illusion of sugar. There also used to exist a phenomenon of spraying a fragrance on and waiting about 20 minutes before deciding if it works on you, and Elizabeth Taylor fragrances are no exception. Nearly all fragrances required this initial dry down period. Today, newer fragrances are designed to sell on the immediate first impression, regardless of what the fragrance is doing three hours later. Diamonds and Sapphires is no exception to the fact that Elizabeth Taylor fragrances did not devolve with the trends that followed their releases. Diamonds and Sapphires, which is made in the US, seems to have missed the regulatory downgrade to screechy class. It doesn’t smell cheap either. It smells like a reflection of the year it was released. Regarding the affordability of this line, these fragrances are made in the US, therefore no import cost is associated with their sale in the US. They have also reached product maturity (the product has long since made back all the money it cost to bring it to market). There is still high demand for White Diamonds, so my guess is that WD’s wider distribution and higher price point reflects its enduring wide appeal. The majority of the fragrances in this line were relatively expensive department store fragrances when they were introduced. Fortunately, the quality of these fragrances has not suffered over time. The comparisons to Escape could not be more fitting, except this is better than Escape was. Practically everyone wanted a bottle of Escape at some point during the decade of the ‘90s, including many people who pronounced it “Ekscape.” In the ‘90s, Escape smelled fresh and beautiful, but if someone wore too much of it, the oakmoss and coriander would make you want to escape the room. There’s no oakmoss or coriander listed for Diamonds and Sapphires. Diamonds and Sapphires is just doing its breezy and fresh floral-musk-calone-fougère thing without a headache factor. The melon that people are smelling is calone, which is a molecule that was invented and emerged in perfumery in the ‘80s. It smells melony and aquatic. (Escape relied on the melony side of calone. Cool Water relied on the watery side of calone.) A lot of the nice aquatics joined the screechy club after 2005. The Issey Miyake references are very accurate, but Diamonds and Sapphires has none of the screechy or piddly notes. How nice! The ‘90s were a time when everyone wanted to smell fresh and not “like perfume.” There was a whole movement away from flowers and spices and into citrus fruits and the melony, aquatic calone. Flowers needed to become citrusy. Musk needed to be fresh. Calone was the Iso-E Super of its time. The niche movement had not yet taken everyone by the nose or gotten so many people accustomed to paying through the nose. Diamonds and Sapphires stays true to its original aesthetic and performs smoothly. There is no screechiness to be found. It’s a floral aquatic woodsy fougère that just smells marvelous and lives out its ‘90s goodness in a classy manner without overwhelming anyone. Thanks to its relative complexity, it’s well-rounded. There’s a squeaky clean musk and some ylang-ylang apparent from heart to extended dry down, but they’re layered in with the other heart and base notes in a very balanced way. The overall composition does have a blue vibe to it. As with Diamonds and Rubies, one or two sprays will get the job done. And by the way, with the exception of the rush of gorgeous, sheer white florals when first sprayed, this is unisex by today’s standards.

I saw this on the shelf on my way out the door this morning, and, on a whim, realized I had not tried it in years. I gave a quick blast, and ran out the door...I few moments later, I was floored. The quality of the perfume far exceeded what I had remembered. The Galbanum, in the top of all places, tames the aldehydes and gives the Melon something to grab onto. To be sure I wasn't crazy, I went back to retest. What I discovered is that the first 2 minutes can be almost unbearable- a weird synthetic Lily strapped onto Aldehydes at 200mph...but hold on, this transitions out very quickly. By minute 3 you are on a velvet blanket of Galbanum and juicy fruits. This phase is absolutely beautiful, and with none of the "rotten fruit" notes that can occur when using Melon in a heavy composition. The Galbanum is top notch quality, at least in my vintage bottle of edt. (My guess is they switched to something cheaper after the launch, but that's another day!) At minute 5, in come tangy spices, and finally we sense the spectre of original White Diamonds. At 10, this perfume is the perfect melange of spices, fruits, and resin. The florals play second fiddle, but the Rose and the Ylang are tenacuious enough to peek through. There is also a waft of Night Blooming Lily, but the deep indolic kind, not the cited LOV note. This phase lasts for quite a long time, nearly an hour, during which time I can't resist smelling my arm over & over! The drydown is indeed as stated- Sandal, Musk, and Vetiver. All in all, this is a perfume with a lot of presence. Even in the EDT it has excellent longevity and sillage. I tested on a perfect September day- warm, dry, and breezy. I can also see wearing this in the winter, but I fear that humidity might create a cloying effect, and therefore, I would use it with caution in the spring and summer.

A lovely floral-calone fougère! 🥰🍈🌹🌿 The Lily of the valley blends into the calone, which blends into the rhubarb, creating a sharp, bright, cooling afternoon scent. In about 40 minutes after drydown the calone calms down and the florals and vetiver joins the white musk and all spice. It is similar to Escape, but a bit less animalic, skipping the coriander and oakmoss and opting for a gentle sandalwood over the harder cedar. Diamonds and Sapphires is a surprisingly beachy scent for not (technically) having an aquatic note. A less floral L'eau D'issey, and less fruity Sunflowers. All four scents are great for nice warm days. I will caution anyone sensitive to calone (the melon scent) and/or Lily of the Valley though. They're pretty strong for the first hour or so. And like all White Diamond scents, don't initially over spray. Personally, I love it. It's a very green melon-y fragrance, more like a cucumber smell than a fruity, sugary candy melon you'll find in a lot of newer perfumes. My teenage children and their friends are completely enamored with these 80's and 90's scents right now. They're sick of scents that smell like candy. Guess what's going to smell like "old ladies" to them in the not so distant future? So, wear Diamonds and Sapphires in the morning, Sparkling White Diamonds in the afternoon, and White Diamonds in the evening, and White Diamonds Night if you're staying up late. Your bases are beautifully covered. 🥰

Oh! This is lovely! Something as desirable (to me!) as a fruity and sweet and green floral! I so often miss tartness in fragrances that are sweet and I want both. This has both. The tartness is rounded, though, and the green aspect of it is not sharp in the least. Soft lily of the valley (LOTV often gets screechy, but not here) that is mellowed to bright, but soft by the melon, peach and the yang-ylang. The melon is NOT the aquatic cucumber/calone style, but rather like a fragrant cantaloupe, the peach is not cloying (I often feel that peach gets a little "pond-watery") and both of these mixes beautifully with the tart rhubarb. This is definitely a great sweet-tart-green-fruity balance with the rose/jasmin/ylang combo constantly dancing in the background and it manages to be fresh, sensual and interesting at the same time. It ́s definitely easy to like without being trite. It gets ambery in a drier way after a while and softly woody. I could see myself wearing this quite often. Listen, don ́t think that this one is in any way out-dated- it could easily be a modern day Versace or or Gucci. Only thing is this one is more interesting than mentioned brands have been lately...

I have never had any interest in any of Elizabeth Taylor's perfumes, before now. When they were released, I was a teenager and thought they were probably to mature for me at the time. And even a couple of years ago when I started on this perfume collection/appreciation/obsession..they were not high on my "try" list. And at least in the instance of this gorgeous lady, I was so,so wrong. In an earlier post in the forums, someone called this one a floral aquatic and I was intrigued. I looked it up in the index and didn't see anything in the notes not to like and with the price I thought..."Why not??" Simply put, this bottle of golden elixir brings to mind a floral heaven! I am in absolute LOVE! I don't really get anything super aquatic, but it is sweet, fruity and smells of lovely white flowers. It smells simple and luxurious all at the same time. Is that even possible? How could I have been so dismissive and wrong? I have worn this for 5 days straight and that hasn't happened in years, I am a "change my scent when I change my undies" type girl and I have only been doing the latter all week, because I cannot get enough of this gorgeous gal. Now I must try them all!

This is simply a phenomenal dewy green, slightly tart, fruity floral that smells fresh and sophisticated. This is also the perfume that made me understand melon. It's not watermelon, but a lovely ripe and juicy canteloup that gives the perfume a moist and mouthwatering opening. There are notes that reminds me of wet, freshly cut grass in here, and delicate white flowers (lily and lily of the valley) that makes it smell both fresh and elegant in an almost melancholic way. When the melon steps back a surprisingly beautiful green, tart and juicy rhubarb note appears and keeps the scent interesting and slightly edible. This is spring in a bottle. Green and breezy with a somewhat cool and refreshing vibe. Gorgeous! Sillage starts off moderate on me, and dries down to soft. Longevity is very good for a fruity scent. On me it lasts 6-8 hours.

I adore this fragrance. More so then it's sister, White Diamonds. It's so close yet SO different. Melon, for sure, is the conquering note but the Sandalwood came through profoundly for me. Just like the original, you only need a spritz or two before it becomes very overwhelming. I made the mistake of inhaling at just the wrong time and getting a mouth full of chemicals that probably shouldn't be ingested. But it didn't turn me off! It's so fresh and can I even say it reminds me of the Ocean? It probably shouldn't with these ingredients but there is something (very small) that reminds me of Siren by Paris Hilton. Any of the Diamonds perfumes requires a specific taste in fragrances because obviously it can really attack the senses but it was another hit on Elizabeth Taylors brand!

Nyoka, that's hilarious! I don't feel that way about Diamonds and Sapphires but I do feel exactly the same about Diamonds and Emeralds. It either comes down to skin chemistry or perhaps an old bottle that went bad. Actually, Diamonds and Sapphires comes across as a light, green, jasmine/rose/freesia blend on my skin, with a touch of musk and vetiver in the drydown. It's very nice for summer, maybe for a summer evening. It doesn't seem to have the sillage of ET's other fragrances on my skin, however. But that's fine; I am collecting as many ET fragrances as I can and I can get many of them for very cheap at discount stores like T.J. Maxx or A.J. Wright's. I think most of her fragrances are either very distinctive, lush and sophisticated, or light, feminine and pretty.

Another nice soft classic and timeless scent. I would classified it as a clean daily perfume, a bit soapy at the beginning because of the sharp smell of melon. But when the melon settles down it evolves to a creamy-floral and peachy scent with a little powder over it. I couldn't say that this is one of my favorites, but yes, there are the days over the year, when I absolutelly love it, and this is mostly during the winter time. Anyhow it's very romantic and feminine scent. I think any perfume lover should have it, it's Elizabeth Taylors ... it's like a legend. And the same could be said for Diamonds and Emeralds and Diamonds and Rubies as well. They are really good price value and as I said- timeless, a must have for any serious perfume portfolio.

Its the floral ive always wanted! Aww elizabeth how did you know?! Reminds me a lot of joy by jean patou which ive been wanting but i probably wont need it with this. I was the most anxious to try this one because of the day and night reviews it gets, and i dont have one bad thing to say about it whatsoever. I got this today with diamonds and rubies but decided to try the rubies first. Out of curiousity i put like a 16th of a spray of this on my wrist. Just got the atomizer to spit a little bit and i can smell it over the rubies. I am impressed -furrows brow-. Very powerful so be mindful of it! P.S. I think i figured out why people dont like this. It has a mimic of red door somewhere in the middle/dry down. Not too many people are fans of that

Fresh sweet melons and peach enveloped in a cool, oceanic citrus. This opening reminds me of green tea by Elizabeth Arden. As the perfume unfolds rhubarb and a delicate jasmine come forward. In the dry down I still experience a fresh, ozonic quality but it deepens and is grounded by a slightly sweet but very gentle amber & musk. I really like this fragrance in summer when I want a fresh & fruity refresh. The green melon is the shining star. It’s well balanced, stylish and modern. It makes me dream of travelling to the Greek islands where the expansive blue sea crashes on the shores of a cliff below a sun drenched cafe. Like the other white diamond flankers, emeralds and rubies, sapphires did not disappoint- it’s really gorgeous!

A beautiful watery, green and slight bitter white floral. I find the lily of the valley and melon to be the dominant notes in this fragrance. I also get a green bitterness from the rhubarb and galbanum. I don't always enjoy fragrances with a green quality but really love this. It reminds me ever so slightly of Dior Diorissimo because of the prominent lily of the valley and Chanel Cristalle EDP old version but without the strong citrus. However this still very much feels like it's own thing. It feels simultaneously vintage and 90s at the same time. Really gorgeous fragrance and would be perfect for hot summer days. The Fragrant Jewels flankers line from Elizabeth Taylor are a very underrated gem.

While I love all of Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and series, Diamonds amd Sapphires moght be my favorite. It is early August, and the temperature here is well into the 100's, and this is gorgeous! A rich, lush white floral very alightly sweetened with melon amd rounded out by a delicate musk and ylang. D&S is not as sweet to my nose as Diamonds and Emeralds amd not as nearly as spicy as Diamonds amd Rubies. Someone below mentioned a 90s-shampoo vibe, and yes, I caan agree, but more perfume-y. The LOTV is not sharp in this.It is a very gentle perfume but it has great sillage and moderate longevity. Truly a beautiful scent!

Why do I always discover perfumes after they're discontinued? At least I could pick up a big bottle cheap! Thank you to my toddler, who spotted the sparkly bottle (which I love, reminds me of the American soaps my Nanna used to watch) and wanted me to try it. Just a lovely airy scent, sweetened with peach, dried a little with musk and sandalwood, with melon and lily of the valley floating above. Fresh without being sharp, floral without being overwhelming, fruity without being overly sweet. Ladylike, in effect. I feel like I've got a treasure I will happily wear over and over for pocket money.

Back in the day (early 2000’s), Sparkling White Diamonds was one of my most reached-for fragrances. Diamonds and Sapphires brings back memories of that, but with much stronger fruit notes. The peach & melon are very pleasant for a warm Summer day. As it dries down, it has that classic floral-amber DNA of Elizabeth Taylor fragrances. I’d categorize this as a casual, everyday fragrance. To me, it’s “younger” smelling than other choices in the White Diamonds family. As an EDT, it doesn’t last very long, but it can be found at most discount stores for super cheap.

I received this from my aunt some years ago and am down to the last few sprays of the 50ml bottle. I honestly really didn't appreciate it, so it just sat ignored until this morning when I grabbed the bottle and thought this will do. It's clean, fresh, spicy, floral and kinda wakes me up! It's synthetic but not offensive,but it definitely needs respraying or wearing under clothes to get that longevity. It's not totally me in all honesty as I'm more of an aquatic or oriental type but it doesn't break the bank and makes a nice uplifting change.

Update, had to mark it a "love"! -------------------------------- Blind buy - I have a number of other Liz fragrances I like - anyway, they're so affordable and where would you be able to test these anyway? And it's good news! I like it right away. Not overly sweet melon, thankfully. I don't care for cantaloupe and that was my concern, but this is a fresh melon, tempered by the other notes, rhubarb, spices, florals, etc. I especially appreciate the spice, personally. I predict this one will get good use this spring and summer!

I was pleasantly surprised when smelling this initially, it reminded me of a fresh fruit bowl with cantaloupe and honeydew. But now that I’ve worn it several times, I’ve picked up on a slight b.o. quality - now that I’ve noticed it, I can’t ignore it. Unfortunate, but at least it was cheap! Update - my review hasn’t changed but I’m back to liking it again. I work outside in the summer heat and getting in my vehicle afterwards cranking the AC and blasting myself with this is such a beloved ritual these days haha

This perfume is not really a fruity- floral, rather a green floral: grassy, spicy. Jasmine, ylang-ylang, galbanum and vetiver stand out from the rich symphony of different accords here creating such a warm, animalistic vibe -reminiscent of Serge Lutens' "A La Nuit"- just less jasminey, indeed. Down to earth Beauty, a little powdery, dry and bitter in the drydown. But what a splendour! Reflecting, wistful, all-encompassing Femininity. Hauntingly Yours or yours hauntingly, Elizabeth.

If you like a cucumber melon vibe and the current Bath and Bodyworks formulation isn’t hitting right, I find the body wash/lotion paired with a confident spray or two of this takes me there. It’s my first ET — I grew up on Sunflowers and RL Safari, anything Diamonds was way too “adult” — and it’s the perfect starter fragrance from the line for me. Looking forward to trying out more (maybe Sparkling next...) and always grateful for the helpful comments from everyone!

My first Elizabeth Taylor perfume. Chose it based on the notes, and I am very pleased with it. I agree with the previous commenter as it reminds me of Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers as well, and I also find it softer and prettier. This perfume really grew on me. I love it from the moment I spritz it - I love the green burst at the beginning -, love the dry down, and love the bottle. A clean, very pretty scent.

Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Sapphires is a gorgeous fragrance. So uplifting, so fresh, lush, rich, the fragrance of sea salt, green & floral. Very contemporary & fresh. Excellent longevity. Quality ingredients. High end at an affordable price. Check it out! Highly recommended.

This is definetly a grown up floral aquatic scent. There is no fruity/sweet/cocktail/girlyness in this perfume at all (thank God).The melon is there, but it is not the sweet,ripe melon scent,more of the fresh and cool type of melon. Very Nice. A bargain.

I get a mix between fruity and green...love it! Very fresh and pretty! No need to wait till you're "old" to wear it! Great scent for any age! I only wish the scent lasted longer. Gone within an hour of spraying on 4 or 5 good spritzes.

So good I had to have this in my collection again!!I love it so much. The LOTV and melon are so wonderful together! Perfect combo of sweetness, floral and fruit. I love all the Diamonds flankers, it's hard for me to choose a favorite.

Very sophisticated, I don't usually like fruity frags too much, but on my skin, the freesia is most prominent

It is 9 days till Christmas and my order finally arrived! Merry Christmas to me! Well, I'm trying this for the very first time based on some of the reviews. This is unusual and totally different than any other perfumes in my collection. This has a sparkling quality like morning dew or the freshness after spring rain. Several reviews have mentioned that they feel that something about this perfume reminds them of Calvin Klein's Escape. When I first smell Diamonds and Sapphires, during the first spray phase - this has the same type of ozonic aldehyde that you notice with Escape, White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor, Diamonds and Emeralds by ET, White Linen by Estee Lauder, Un Jardin En Mediterranee by Hermès...(I'm sure that there are others but these are the perfumes that first come to mind for me based on my own experience sampling and wearing these perfumes). What is unique about this perfume is the juxtaposition of notes which I have not smelled paired together. This does smell a bit blue-green; (I agree with the other reviews)... while at the same time it has an unusual melon smell; possibly honey dew/cantaloup...(not watermelon). This is refreshing, I agree with the reviews that said that this smells like a fresh summer fruit salad. This is pretty on. It is an attractive fragrance but it does not have an overtly sexual or sensual vibe. (This is not a club type fragrance, it is more "girl next door" - fresh, clean, pretty. If this were an actress it would be like Doris Day or Sandra Dee (the actress)-- or like the images of Olivia Newton John in the movie "Greese" - (before she turned biker chick). In my opinion and based on the other perfumes that I have tried -- this is most similar to Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and Emeralds - the same type of vibe only with different notes. (I don't feel that this is as heavy a fragrance as Calvin Klein's Escape, then again - I'm not comparing these two side by side -- this is just from my memory of Escape). The range of Elizabeth Taylor's perfumes is extremely diverse. This is completely different than Elizabeth Taylor's Passion perfume. If I didn't know that this was part of her collection, I would never randomly guess that this was from the same house and perfume company. Some have mentioned that this perfume is slightly dated, however this is so unique that I feel that if you really love this perfume - and it is good with your chemistry, this could be an ageless and timeless type perfume. I'm wearing this now to see how the dry down unfolds. So far so good! This is not something that I would have had on a perfume list. The ingredients are unexpected and not the typical vibe that I'm drawn to -- But I am very glad that I tried this and can appreciate this for its own charm without comparing this to Elizabeth Taylor's other creations. This perfume would be like a spring/summer picnic -- I could see this being worn during the day for fun outdoor events. It has a cheerful, uplifting vibe - which is great for a mood enhancement. I like this, it is a totally new spin on perfume for me. -------------- Verdict: This is one of those perfumes that totally catches me off guard. It is like having your colors done by a professional color analysis image consultant and you suddenly find that you can wear a few colors that you have never even thought you could wear, then suddenly finding that - oh yeah, well - I actually COULD WEAR THIS; but for some reason, you are not immediately drawn to it and it is out of the spectrum of colors that you typically wear. As with all of the other Elizabeth Taylor perfumes that I have tried, she really has a great fragrance line. They have developed some really incredibly great perfumes. And what's even better, they have kept a more reasonable price point - which is smart. I "like" this perfume, however, on me - with my chemistry, I'm more partial to Diamonds and Emeralds, Passion, and the dry down of White Diamonds (after powering through the beginning phases). (I have not yet tried all of Elizabeth Taylor's perfume creations, there is more to go).

Diamonds and Sapphires, I truly like this. It has an early 90's vibe, it does remind me slightly of EA Sunflowers in its melon/citrus/peach/floral top and middle. To me it smells much more grown up, I think because Sunflowers was well worn by young girls in my Middle School years, although I never wore it unless I snuck a spray from a friend because it was pricier than something my Mom would have been willing to purchase for me at that time, also I don't think she preferred it. It is fruity with the melon/peach/apricot/rhubarb tang, but not overly so as the florals blend in well. At first it comes off as a little sickly sweet, but with all those florals in full bloom, and the fruits, its bound to be. I think the vetiver, galbanum, spice and rhubarb save it. The greenery really keeps it grounded. Give it about 5 minutes and that pervasive floral sweetness is tempered. I sometimes smell this almost watermelon smell after it rains in the summertime, with all that green vegetation, ozone and humidity thick in the air with whatever flowers are in bloom. Its not so much a watermelon smell as it is a taste to you take in from the air. This fragrance reminds me of that. Its green like grass and greenery from flowers, its white floral, its blue like the sky with big fluffy clouds. I think 1993's perfume designers were trying to capture the outdoors and bottle it for us to wear. They were blending fruits and florals together, but it was early on so it was more nature than the fruit salad of perfume released today. I notice some other reviews got the aquatic vibe from it as well. Its like Ms. Taylor wanted the sunshine, blue skies,lush greens, and aquatic florals of her beautiful gardens bottled up for us. Truly a fragrant sky blue gem. You can pick up a 3.3oz for under $15 at TJMaxx, well worth a shot and if you don't prefer it swap or gift to a friend.

Whew 😅. I lucked out on this complete blind buy online. I thought I was ordering Diamonds and Emeralds and I clicked on the wrong box and got this delivered this morning. I was certain I would not like it but I am pleasantly surprised that it agrees with my skin and actually has a pleasant unique smell. It’s has the old school vibes going on which I love because I am sick and tired of all the new perfumes all smelling too similar. The balance of the florals and fruits is lovely and classy instead of overdone. The price is ridiculously low, which surprised me a lot. For an EDT, the performance is good. I can’t talk about longevity much because I just got it this morning and have not worn it for a full day. The sillage is decent and that is with two sprays only. I will definitely be trying the other flankers since the price is super affordable and will give a different vibe from all the gourmand scents bombarding the market now. I love Angel (The Godmother of gourmand perfume) but I need different things now to round up my perfume collections. Diamonds and Sapphire is definitely different. Very happy with this perfume so far. Update: After trying this perfume for over over 6 weeks, I can tell you that this is a very long lasting, heavy duty perfume. It is way stronger than most EDP perfumes I own and if I use more than 4 sprays, it takes over everything and dominates the space. So, top marks for sillage and longevity. If you want it to be softer, don’t do more than 2 sprays. Love it.

I'm not sure why I slept on Elizabeth Taylor's fragrances, but I'm glad I'm discovering them now. So far I have Diamonds and Rubies, White Diamonds Luster, Sparkling White Diamonds, and now, Diamonds and Sapphires. This one surprised me. It actually is a good combination of fruit and floral. I typically hate fruity scents because they smell rotten on me after a while, but Diamonds and Sapphires smells divine on my skin and clothes! I think the melon in this really shines through and lasts for a while on my skin. It then dries down to a mild white flower scent with traces of melon and peach here and there. I think this is perfect for the daytime during the spring or summer when it isn't smoldering hot out. I would say this is safe enough for the office too. Although the price is low, the quality is not. Smells much more expensive than it actually is. I have a set of the fragrant jewel collection coming so I will update my review of the parfum when it arrives. Update: The parfum is actually better than the edt! I layered them yesterday (edt doesn't last very long on me) and the scent lasted about 6 hours which is pretty good for me. I love fragrances that have longevity and this certainly does.

I almost didn't buy this one for my growing Elizabeth Taylor collection because I hate melon in perfume. I hate Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden, I don't like Escape by Calvin Klein, and I don't like Forever Patou by Jean Patou and I own many Jean Patou fragrances but I like D&S. There is melon but it isn't sickly like the rest of those perfume I mentioned and my nose picks up a lot of the peach and rhubarb. This is fresh and aquatic and I usually don't like any perfumes w/ aquatic accords but I like this one. I think the spicy notes keeps this one grounded to the earth a bit so it doesn't become to watery and sharp like most aquatics do. I can see myself reaching for this a lot next summer if it is hot like it was this year. It is mouthwatering and as I smell it I find myself craving a fruit salad! Surprisingly good! I am loving Elizabeth Taylor perfumes and so glad I have been taking a chance on them. Not a bad one in the bunch and I will be loving these beauty's for years to come. Edit 10/22/21 The dry down of this has a lot of vetiver, leans a little unisex. This is crisp, cool, clean, watery, fresh, green. A wonderful aquatic done right.

I’ve been looking for a perfume to replace my old La Fleur body spray from Bath & Body Works, and when I was looking at all the fragrance notes for perfumes that I was browsing at Burlington, this immediately stood out to me. Firstly, I'm a man who loves loves loves anything floral. I literally work at a floral wholesaler! But I will admit at first spray, it did give me a nasty headache like a lot of the people who have reviewed this have noted. But I feel a lot of it was a mix of being overstimulated from a long day and hungry. But after a couple of days of wearing this to work, I love it! Sure, the first spray can be overwhelming, and it's capable of bothering my throat in a way only things I'm allergic do, but once it settles and those hidden floral notes come out, its a whole different experience. It doesn't quite replace my discontinued La Fleur, but it fits the same niche. Definitely a good purchase, especially for $10! Even less than what I paid for my La Fleur that lasted 6 years, but I don't foresee this lasting as long.

I picked this up a couple of days ago at TJ Maxx. This is my first experience with an Elizabeth Taylor fragrance. My bottle is new, manufactured in 2020. First spray I get a blast of sweet almost syrupy melon if there could be such a thing. There doesn't seem to be a lot of complexity to my nose with this fragrance. There's a creaminess here, along with the sweetness of the melon and floral this borders on the gourmand. The lasting power here is exceedingly poor. I sprayed very liberally this morning, again liberally sprayed this afternoon and either I am experiencing anosmia to it or it has very poor performance. I mean I can smell it faintly, but it just doesn't last on my skin or clothing. An upbeat sweet spring, summer scent that fades away to a whisper in an hour. March 2021 There's a distinct lilac note in this fragrance to my nose even though it is not listed in the note profile above. Must be a combo of the melon and the floral notes but it's nice.

This is why I’m loathe to start selling off my big old mishmash of a perfume collection!! Argh! It is also the reason I believe in dreams... I hated this for such a long time. Melon and a slightly aquatic note...urgh. Not for me. It’s been on my ‘must ebay’ list for an age. Then last night I dreamed about this. The name, not the smell. I woke up thinking ‘Diamonds and Sapphires!’ and decided to try it one last time tonight. Well this is that one last night ..and unbelievably, I love it! How? Why? It may be the slightly better weather? (straw clutching). But it’s so lovely! The melon is fresh but creamy. Possibly the only melon note I’ve ever appreciated. It’s fresh and zingy, yet thick and soothing. The LOTV creeps in quite late on in a most tantilising way. Love it. Beauiful, summer nights fragrance. Hands off eBay! And thank you, my imagination x

By hazard tonight I sprayed on Diamonds and Sapphires. I see I wrote a review 11 months ago. I've been exploring inexpensive Spanish perfumes. This ET recalls in particular Instituto Espanol perfumes. The style is unpretentious elegance. D & E smells pretty in projection but as I have previously mentioned, avoid nose to skin for at least 30 minutes. This sunny and dynamic "Dime Store Dior" perfume is fair value and ET completists will enjoy it a few times a year at least for the novelty factor. I will say once imprinted in your sense memory it returns like a pretty accessory you've had in your armoire for decades, so you know it very well, but rarely take it out for a wear - a scarf, a tie with a lively pattern, a cheerfully colored piece of enamel costume jewelry.

ok so out of the 3 this is probably my least favorite, I'm not saying it is a bad fragrance at all. It's just it's not my style. Rubies is more of my statement kind of scent. Emeralds is ok, it's a nice fresh green fragrance with some of my favorite flowers. Sapphires is weird to me. It starts off with a melon note that is delicious but then something happens throughout the development with my chemistry that I don't like as much as the other two. Maybe if I try this in the summer time it will be better since I feel that is when it would be best suited for. The scent is moderate as terms as how long it stays on. Still get a great deal with what you pay for it which is like 12 bucks at burlington. I like it but don't love it.

Wow! On the initial spray my first thought was 'this is like sitting in the garden during late spring/ early summer'. It's a beautiful, floral fragrance. The initial spray hits hard with the rose, which I like. It's not too heavy with the Lily of the valley, which I'm grateful for as too much reminds me of air freshener. There's a sharpness to it which makes it almost aquatic, which I find perfect for the warmer months. Longevity is moderate, a little less then Liz Taylor's other fragrances, though I think that's more to do with the fruits coming through once the florals calm down, making it smell subtly sweeter. Sillage is about arms length. Liz Taylor's perfumes never fail to impress me.

Nice floral scent, not especially fruity to me. First I get a lot of lily. Then, at a certain point in the drydown, it made me think of L'eau d'Issey from Issey Miyake, and Escape from Calvin Klein, and when I checked I saw that both had melon as (one of the) most intensive note observed. It is a very typical note, the melon. I have the idea that melon is responsible for a lot of the 'watery' effect in a perfume. But Diamonds and Sapphires is different from Escape and l ́eau d ́Issey (luckily because I do not like either much). After a few months: it turns out to be too much l'eau d'issey for me, I can't wear it and I will give it away...

It's good, it's sharp, it's green, clean & fresh, and because of all this, it's headache inducing. Definitely the strongest out of her fragrant jewel collection. Apply lightly! Fruit salad? Really? I wish I got that. I get heavy LOTV and some melon, and the rest is a big bouquet of flowers. I definitely get the watery aspect, especially in the heat. It has a "cooldown" effect, like being under a misty shade. The dry down is vetiver mixing in with what remains--a fruity floral skin scent. It last about 7 hours on clothes. My favorite is Diamonds and Rubies, though. I wish that were the strongest of the 3.

Another green that I can wear without it turning into sour sweat on me.. I normally stay away from green but this is a melon green, not a leaf or grass green.. I mainly get an aquatic melon with jasmine and lily of valley.. the peach, rose, sandalwood and other florals lay quietly in the background. I get a hint of the rhubarb but I'm not finding spices or vetivier in it. Sillage is good but I've only been wearing for an hour so unsure of longivity yet. I really like it and can see me wearing it in the hotter months.

Spotted this at Ross marked down to $3.50 so of course I had to grab it. I'd never smelled it before but I was previously interested in it due to those saying it reminded them of Calvin Klein's Escape, which is one of my all time favorites. I can see the similarities mainly due to the melon and the spice but I think Escape is much sharper which I love in a perfume. I get much more of the melon in this one however. I haven't tried it on skin so I can't speak on it's performance but my initial reaction is favorable.

Happened to get a large bottle of this for 9.99 at Ross! It does open with a nice melon. On me it settles into a very natural floral bouquet, like there is a nice fresh spring arrangement in the room. Does not smell dated. I feel like this would fit very nicely with the current offerings at Sephora if it weren't for the early 90s connotations of the name. NOTE: I very lightly apply this on my wrists. I could see how it could be very overwhelming if applied heavily.

I find this fragrance is enhanced by layering it with Elizabeth Taylor sparkling white diamonds. The two fragrances combined create a fresh airy clean white floral scent that is perfect for spring and summer. Odd thing is when I wear these two fragrances separately I'm less impressed by either one. What I do love about all of Liz's fragrances is that they have great sillage and smell expensive. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Diamonds and sapphires is a very pleasant mild fragrance. I am usually nose blind to such mild scents, but three layers in one hour sets this up nicely for me. I cannot make out each note it comes off as a soft happy blend of goodness. I passed on this bottle for years thinking it would be a strong scent like Passion (which I love). This may be great worn as a base layer too. Thinking about grabbing the Emerald, Ruby next.

This was the only perfume from the Diamonds line that actually agreed with my body chemistry. It is a very light, barely-there fruity scent which is very wearable during daytime for pretty much any occasion. The vetiver wasn't noticeable to me (which is a good thing imo) and the main notes that stood throughout were lily of the valley, peach and rose. It is as pleasant, sweet, fresh and as appetizing as breakfast in bed.

Sapphires is a guilty pleasure I enjoy a few times every summer. It doesn't work on the hottest days. Nose to skin it's weird if not off-putting. Like some other ET frags, Sapphires needs 30 minutes to settle down before the magic happens. It truly hits all the genres - fruity, floral, green, with a bit of soft perfume impact. I would love to sample the vintage parfum. I'll make a point of finding one.

I had this on order as a blind buy but changed it to Emeralds after reading the reviews. I really don't need two Elizabeth Taylor's in my collection but I'm tempted after smelling both today. At first this reminded me of something I used to wear (Calvin Klein Eternity maybe?) not in an exact replica kind of way, just a similarity. I sprayed it hours ago and I can still smell it - YUM!

just git this at a big lots for 15.99 and always wanted to try it. spray and it smelled like something u once had. asked my sister to take a smell she said it that perfume i dislike i was like which one ? she said the jlo one and it hit me like light glow by JLO just more Rich and Lux with an old vibe to it by old i mean good old. no soapy like glow old money type
