@Scent Land Just below me is 100 % Correct! The Beautiful Lavender and Classic Carnation combo Together with the soft spices like Nutmeg and Cinnamon along with the subtle Vanilla and Sandlewood base is just really very nice and "Seductive" INDEED! Also, while this dna does start off strong and seems to settle within 30 minutes or so, it then creates this very long-lasting, very soft yet persistant, alluring sillage which has garnered me LOADS of compliments from Women and Men of ALL AGES and this is long after I think the fragrance is long-gone. Now, admittedly ya do need to "Over-Spray" Passion a bit bc it does become very soft after that initial 30 minutes or so, but if I double up on the spritzes, Ill get that very persistance sillage wo offending others again, because of how softly it projects. Also be sure to get some on clothes. So when the positives on here claim that Passion for Men becomes a "Second Skin", thats truley accurate for sure! Id just let your bottle "Maturate" for a couple weeks so that it becomes a tad more substantial like mine did😉. Ill give a short description of one such compliment which really sold me on its longevity and likeability. Was at work (Warehouse setting) about 7 hours into my shift one day after having done about 8 or 9 spritzes in the morning before work, and this young, new female co-worker is milling around working about 8 feet away from me when she says to me "My goodness, I LOVE your cologne, Ive been smelling it all day!" I was shocked and asked her if she could truley still smell it bc I thought it was gone by then, and she replied "Oh yes! It's EXQUISITE! What's it called?" Shocked, I showed her a picture of the bottle, where to get it and how inexpensive it is, then asked if she wanted it for her husband. She replied "No Way! I like it so much, I want it for MYSELF!" Now that sorta blew my mind bc to me this scent pulls quite Masculine, but it just goes to show that fragrance TRULEY has NO GENDER! Now I've liked this scent since the 90's when Id first tried it, but was in my very early 20's then and thought it was too "Old Fashioned" for me. So when Id seen it a few months ago at Burlington I just went for it and Im so glad I did! It was a "Powerhouse Classic Masculine" back then, but it has been very much watered down, yet the lingering power is STILL THERE! I actually recently purchased a back-up bottle (Super unnecessary in my vast collection) because I keep hearing rumors about it either having been, or will soon be discontinued and for UNDER $20?! Man, just go grab a bottle ESPECIALLY if anyone reading this enjoys classic, Lavender "Barbershop Fragrances" its a STEAL!! And again, dont be discouraged if you notice that the scent settles quickly bc it truley does last with this soft yet VERY persistant and surprisingly far-reaching sillage.. Thank you to whomever took the time to read my thoughts on this "Gate Keepable-Sexy-Secret Weopon" of a fragrance!🫠😉

(Updated after comparing the vintage 80s formulation to the new) In a world suffocating under sickly sweet, fruit basket colognes (more aptly called 'perfume') Passion for Men is an anchor. It doesn't try to be young or trendy. Thank God for that, because it seems like colognes these days TRY DESPERATELY HARD to be interesting, but end up smelling like a bottle of something you'd find on your teenage daughters bathroom counter. Passion doesn't have that desperation. It opens with a classic blend of lavender and bergamot. Midway is cinnamon, sandalwood and very slight, soft edged cedar. It dries down into rich amber, tonka bean, and a deep but not cloyingly sweet vanilla. It has an actual depth that's missing from today's boring designer fragrances and their 500 equally stupid flankers. This is a rare instance where I prefer the modern formulation over the vintage. I have both but paid around $50 for a VERY small bottle of the 1980's vintage, while picking up a big bottle of the newer formulation for under $20! The vintage has a sweetness due to the loss of the top notes that's not bad by any means. But I just don't prefer it and I have a feeling most 'grown ups' wouldn't either. The modern formulation has the dry heft I like in men's colognes without the extra sugar. This is also true with the women's version, so why pay extra for either one? You get a real bang for your buck here and that means a lot in this economy. Before some 17 year old idiot leaves a string of "god grandpa so old like for real ugh" whining about it: YES this leans mature. But let's be honest here. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone under 40 these days that doesn't smell like a makeup bag. And while the other brands are releasing dozens of Intense, Elixir, and Mommy Issues versions of every fragrance, Passion has managed to stand on its own FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS. Now THAT'S saying something. Any way you slice it, this is one hell of a masculine classic. It's inoffensive, unobtrusive, and I'd say work or any occasion appropriate. And for the cost, it's absolutely blind buy safe. You really can't go wrong here. Elizabeth Taylor knew exactly what she was doing when she created this. Between the men's and women's versions, she created a very memorable power couple.

This stuff can be purchased for next to nothing but it is SO good. I own and enjoy several mens fragrances but this is the only one in my collection that truly smells unisex."Unisex" really doesn't cut it....the feeling I get...it's more of a gender-less smell....not that I try to shove smells into boxes but most of us have been conditioned from an early age to recognize certain smells as male or female....we can't help it. Maybe it's just the way the notes play with my own chemistry but Passion works.....and it works on both my husband and myself. It's warm and spicy and woody and divine. Right up front is when it smells the most "masculine" to me. The cedar, fir and and citrus fruits are prevalent. After just a few minutes, Passion evolves into something so comforting...yet so sexy. It's rich with sticky resins,vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. The sharper citruses have faded away and the woods have deepened yet taken more of a backseat at this point. When I really get my nose down in it and right up against my skin, I get a soapiness that I think may be coming from the various flower notes but especially the lavender. And though it's not listed, there's something smooth and round and nutty that reminds me of almond. This isn't a "clean" scent though....it's deep and sultry and dark and dirty. Makes me feel like I'm visiting a sophisticated head shop....not one with corny tie dyes and ceramic Grateful Dead bears but one with imported,artisan oils and incense,silk batiks,hand-woven fabrics and carved wood furniture.Or perhaps a drum circle lit by the dying light of campfire sparks that mingle with the heady aromas of sweet sweat and musk and puffs of ceremonial smoke. Me likey. UPDATE: Oh....I wanted to add that it's been awhile since I've smelled it but this reminds me a little of one of my favorite discontinued perfumes....MAC MV3!

Wow! I had been curious about this fragrance ever since I started seeing that beautiful purple box in stores like Walmart, Sears, and Marshalls.. I sniffed the womens Passion a couple times because my grandmother use to own it and it smelled deep and powerful.. I originally thought that Passion for men would have been to mature for me but I became tempted to try it.. A gift set with a damaged box happened to be on clearance for a couple dollars at Marshalls and I bought it.. I wore it today and was shocked! I know this has been reformulated but it still is great quality, especially for the price.. It smells great! Dark, mysterious, sexy, and its scent brings to mind the deep dark shades of purple just like the bottle.. It opens up with a herbal lavender, some fruity notes, and bergamot which gives this deep dark oriental a slightly fresh opening.. But that fades away and Passion for men starts to warm up.. A group of other notes come into play right away, some florals, patchouli, carnation, fir, sandalwood, benzoin and more but the dusty styrax, cinnamon, and vanilla dominate.. There is alot of vanilla in here but Passion does not smell foody.. Passion smells dark, mysterious, mature, and sexy.. Passion is perfect for me, it is a bit mature but I am 20 years old and it works for me.. There is no other super cheap scent out there for men that can really top this, better than curve and the others.. I think everyone out there that likes orientals and dark scents should try Elizabeth Taylor's Passion for men.. The projection and longevity are moderate but the scent is very nice! Give it a try, you can not beat the price..

This is not for everyone. And I mean that sincerely rather than implying sarcastically that you either get it or you don't. There isn't something to get as much as there is something appealing to you or there isn't, much as with any scent for that matter. Is this dated? Yes, in a fantastic sort of way. But for any Gen-Xer, there are a plethora of reasons this is appealing. And for those younger, there maybe fewer reasons for such appeal, both due to age/maturity and familiarity with such scent profiles. There are others here who have done a much better service of breaking fragances down into each particular scent and accord from initial spray to dry down. I am here to convince either side that their opinion is valid in that this fragrance is unique in today's current trend and might appeal to those seeking nostalgia, familiarity, or running against the olfactory grain. In truth I like it for all the reasons stated above as well as its ability to cut through cold without being cloying or fruity sweet. Cool fall/winter nice and cozy, with ample comments for appropriateness and uniqueness in that regard. Also, FWIW in my graduate study of neuroscience, the topic of olfactory nerves was discussed which caught my attention as a fragrance collector. The olfactory nerve cells which detect odor first regenerate approx. every 60 days meaning that in 60 days or so, a scent may be detected differently by receptors replaced since last sniff, thus you may try a fragrance once passed on at a later time and find you actually like it. And...science.

I am continually surprised by celebrity-brand fragrances. When I say 'celebrity' I mean actors and singers, etc. I always expect them to be nothing products that just exploit some name. Do the celebrities themselves really have anything to do with the formulation of the cologne? Or, is it just a licensing deal with the specifics handed off to some perfume conglomerate, like Coty. Do we pay 'extra' for the endorsement? Many celebrity-brand colognes are actually quite good however. Scents 'by' Michael Jordan, Antonio Banderas, J.Lo, and even the ridiculous Paris Hilton have garnered favorable reviews and survived on the market for years. Elizabeth Taylor's Passion for Men is a decent example. It opens with a dark spicy note along with some citrus, and perhaps a bit of plum or fig, strong enough but not overpowering. More vanilla and wood come out in the dry down. Good for night or cold weather. Masculine and rich are adjectives that come to mind. Longevity is good enough, a couple hours at least. This is a cologne that wisely trades a dramatic heavy first impression for something more consistent and long lasting. I keep finding myself going back to it. Although Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most expensive women to ever walk the earth, this fragrance is inexpensive for what you get. For the price, I think this cologne punches above its weight. I give it a respectable 8 out of 10, and will wear it.

im so happy i bought this on impulse and so pissed i waited so long. I like passion for women so i figured this would be a shoe in. Just like everyone says it is very different. From the first spray it smells like a light passion for women but with a typical mens water/musk scent. For lack of a better example lets say gucci guilty for men. That type of 90s smelling mens scent. I dont dislike guilty but i dont find it to be particularly unique. This is that and more with a hint of passion and a present but gentle lavender and woody coolness. Theres probably some vetiver but i dont feel like scrolling all the way up to check the notes. This scent isnt terribly unique either but thats actually what ive been looking for. I have too many flagship scents with enough character and uniqueness to knock over an elephant and sometimes i just want something that doesnt make me think a whole lot but still has some sort of imagination. The bottle as well as the scent stays in the same family as passion but with a masculine twist. Cooler and less ornate, the bottle still that signature violet and the art deco rising sun pattern. I would recommend this to anyone men or women who like passion, or to those who want to but cant. Its close enough to love but different enough for anyone else to like instantly. Definitely not a learn to love like the womens version

3/13/2018 ***Update*** Very happy I bought a bottle of this for my Husband, as we both really enjoy it! My Husband likes Citrus top notes, so with the orange, neroli, bergamot and lemon in the top he was hooked. The lavender in the top is also a nice touch. Now considering we have 24 different notes I would say this fragrance changes as it dries down, and smells more of the sum of all parts than it does of the individual notes. Its fresh from the citrus, woodsy, sweet, spicy and warm to me. It smells fabulous on my Husband. He has a strange ability to spray two colognes together and get a positive reaction, and he's had some success layering this. I really enjoy this from initial spray to skin scent, and will find myself happy to walk back into the room it was sprayed to smell it lingering in the air. I really like the balsam fir note, and I often search that out in candles at Christmas time. Its inexpensive and smells much pricier than it costs, cant hurt to give it a try! ***Original***I'm going to buy a bottle and I hope my Husband will humor me and wear it, because I'm collecting all of the ET fragrances. If he wont, ill give it a shot and see if it is unisex as I find the femme version can be. I plan on updating once I've had a chance to test!

I literally stumbled on this by accident. I was walking in the rain and ducked into a men's clothing store to buy an umbrella. It was 1989 and this cologne had just hit the market. "Buy the cologne for $50 and get a free umbrella!" This instantly became my signature scent (for awhile). I've worn this for the last 20+ years and have never had anyone indicate they didn't like it on me. It's a very romantic, sexy smell. Many great date nights have come from wearing this one! Starts off a bit flowery but as it mellows it gets much more spicy, woody, and masculine. This scent has some "prettiness" to it (most of which fades back over time); however, if you can pull it off, you won't "smell like a girl". If not, well... I've yet to meet a woman who said it didn't smell good on me. It's gone the "out of sight; out of mind" route so it's still unique. Not many men wearing this one regularly. Since it's not as popular now, it's pretty inexpensive too. Definitely worth a try, if you want to add a mysterious oriental to your collection.

I first bought ET Passion the weekend it was available at Jordan Marsh, I had just turned 22 and was overeager for any new fragrance! The hype around this one was big, to say the least; I came, I smelled, I bought...it was a nice fragrance but not quite for who I was back then too "pretty and heavy " for me in those days! Cut to today(as in 5/30/18) I was at my local Dillard's buying a graduation gift and came across it again; I was going to bypass it but for some reason, I tried it again and BOOM! This was the reaction I wanted to have 30 years ago! I LOVE it now and contrary to my first bottle I am impressed with how wonderfully it wears on my skin, I guess I needed to mature to appreciate all the variety of note play at work but I now happily own another bottle of ET's Passion for men which I can safely predict will see far more use than it's predecessor! Ain't nothing wrong with a classic!

Does anyone remember the concentrated version of Passion for men that was available in the early 90's? It was called "concentrated cologne" and it had a golden crest symbol on the bottle. I don't know how long that version was available, but I can't find it or anything about it nowdays, but I remember buying a 4oz bottle of it in 1991 and liking it MUCH better than the original, although the original is good, but not as intoxicating, or intense and long lasting as the concentrated version was. I think they're using a lot of synthetics in the version nowdays because it has a weird chemical smell in the drydown that was never there before. If that is the case it's really a shame they have to skimp on quality ingredients and ruin a good thing. To my nose, they did the same thing to the women's version...so sad.

A fuzzy, spicy-fruity, soft-soapy charmer. There's something so beguiling about fragrances like this that are just unpretentiously themselves. There's no side or edge here - simply a relaxed and highly enjoyable fusion of spices; cinnamon, mace/nutmeg and possibly a touch of cloves in a gently warmed fruit punch. The barbershop isn't too far away though, with a welcome soapy shaving foam note keeping the fruit from becoming cloying, and the spices from becoming too strident. I don't get the florals really, except for lavender - and that of a particularly soft nature, rather a shadow of lavender that can occasionally be discerned here and there fleetingly. An old flame which has left glowing embers.

This eau de cologne opens with a fresh citrus accord most likely due to the lavender and fruit notes. After 2-5 minutes the scent transitions into the middle section which contributes to a spicy musky floral accent. Within 30 minutes the base notes come through, adding more complexity to the experience. Overall, this fragrance is an oriental sweet, smoky fougère with moderate longevity and close sillage. Best if worn in winter, fall in addition early spring also would say this is a mid-afternoon to evening type of fragrance. Lastly, taking in consideration it is a celebrity fragrance that is well crafted and for a reasonable price would be imprudent to not give it a try! :) Rating: solid 8/10

Got a vintage/discontinued decant of this and I really really like it. It reminds me of Epiphany by House of Matriarch, a lavender centered frag which I find uplifting and unique and that I also enjoy, so I’m not surprised that I immediately connect with it. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Epiphany was modeled or paying tribute to Passion for Men, which I think is a slightly better blend all around. Of course, this juice has probably been macerating for years so I have no idea how it compares to when it was fresh or to a current batch. I can imagine any gender or person wearing this in various settings. This might be one of my new favorite comfort scents.

This frag is from 1989, and I purchased the current formulation of it last year. It smells absolutely gorgeous. It is complex, and beautifully blended. It smells rich, yet its cost seems ridiculously cheap. It is a low and long arpegiated jazz chord played on a fine piano in a very comfortable classy lounge with the occasional clink of glassware in the near distance.It smells sexy - and it smells warm and heady - and my wife loves it on me. IMO it is absolutely the best bang-for-buck I have in my small collection. If a high end brand was selling this scent at 20 times the price, very few would complain. Enjoy.....

Purchased a new bottle which was produced just over 6 months ago according to Checkfresh. At first it opened strong but faded to a (lasting) skin-scent within 30 mins or so. Well now after a couple weeks its gotten a little more potent, but not by much. When I used to wear Passion in my early 20's it was a powerhouse scent, but its been completely neutered. It's Amazing how it still smells great in the opening, snd although I do NOT expect it to be as potent as it was 30 years ago, I wasn't expecting it to be so weak in the dry down. Im really hoping that maceration will help, but who knows. Fingers crossed!

Passion for men feels like a very rounded, smooth, spiced lavender infused milky dessert. There is some dispute regarding the notes in this perfume but I most certainly, smell lavender. Something about it reminds me of Christmas and a cozy ivory blanket by a fireplace. Must be the cinnamon and lactonic vanilla. Some might call this an "old fashion" men's fragrance but I actually think that it could fit in very well with the modern, women's perfumes. It is sweeter, smoother and warmer than Passion (for women). I am enjoying it very much and will either wear it on its own or layered under the female version.

Oh man, this is good. I was a bit apprehensive because I couldn't imagine how cinnamon and florals would work together, but luckily, it smells great. The opening is very cinnamony, but once it settles, it becomes an elegant, masculine scent that sits close to the skin. It’s not 'loud' or shouting for attention. Since it’s a skin scent, it feels intimate and mysterious. I can definitely imagine wearing this on a date where she only catches the scent when she leans in close. I was also suprised with the longevity. Even though it's a cologne on my skin it lasts around 4-5 hours.

This was a blind buy based on a few reviews I'd seen. It is not quite what I expected but I do love it. The opening is a bit over the top for me, but it soon settles down. I get a vanilla/marshmallow vibe with a sense of violets, even through violet doesn't appear on the list of notes here. It's sweeter than scents I would normally wear, but I don't find this overpoweringly sweet. I find one squirt is enough and I suspect it could become overpowering with too liberal an application. A cool weather scent for date night and special occasions, rather than for the office.

Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together. It's a little early for drinking and I'd look terrible with lipstick, but a nice strong scent will pull a hectic week together. Fruity lavender citrus opening feels so rich, folding into a heart of earthy sandalwood, nutmeg, cinnamon, carnation, and other florals mixed with vaguer woods. The heart notes stuck around for a while before finally easing into a dry down of tonka vanilla musk atop balsamic vetiver. This was a love for me; the experience similar to that of savoring an opulent wine.

Splendid! It totally reflects the fading 80's in such a brilliant and effortless manner that it makes my jaws drop. What a tremendous blend from a better time of being..... Easy, intelligent, incredibly sexy, confident, charming. I get vanilla, tonka, lavender, bergamot, sandalwood, cinnamon, oak moss, some flowery aspects and total, dark tenderness. No way a typical 80's powerhouse, this is much more delicate. Its never pushy, instead lingering, like a second skin, it becomes you instead of screaming I am here! LOVE!

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 023 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased May 2017 Passion is sort of like a cross between Zino/Mesmerize and Obsession. But look at that bottle, gotta have that art deco revival masterpiece. Obsession on the other hand looks... Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about and must revisit it sooner than later. I did spray Obsession more than this.

I love it.!! Cinnamon and lavender with other spices and flowers, it is good for the winter and perfect for Christmas!! Very similar to Scorpio Rouge (a fantastic one), the only difference is Passion have more cinnamon. I think it is the only men's fragrance from E. Taylor but I can see how she could imagine men through this fragrance! Perfume + price = 10/10

This hits hard for a cologne concentration. Just got it today. Let people at work smell it from the bottle. I also let some High schoolers smell it at practice (I'm a Football coach). Everyone liked it! This smells like it just needs a couple of sprays and it's going to last all day. I'll be back with longevity/sillage thoughts after I wear it..

I recently bought this after a sample and I love it. It's a strange one though, when I smell my arm up close I don't like it much but I love the whiffs I get during the day. This has been around for a long time but there isn't much talk about it - that doesn't make any sense to me! The longevity and sillage is above average for me.

I've been using this since 1990. Don't walk away from it when you test it, the top notes are kind of feminine and harsh. Wait about 40 minutes, and then let the magic of this fragance grab you, and those around you. Very sexy and romantic (for dating only, no doubt), 30 year and over, lasts forever, and women loves it!.

Seek out the Cologne Concentree Version with the crest on the bottle. You can find mini sprays of this at eBay as well as larger bottles popping up from time to time. It is so much richer, has much greater depth, and is slightly darker than the original version...a vanilla/Oriental lover's dream and completely unisex.

Covers similar ground as CK Obsession, but does it significantly better in my opinion. There's a fougere hiding in there somewhere, but wrapped in smooth and seductive vanilla and warm spice notes. The title "underrated gem" gets thrown around a lot, but in this case it'll do nicely. One of my best budget blind buys.

Passion for Men is sweeter than Passion for Women. I like them both and l sometimes combine the two. Gothic style cologne. One of the best of Elizabeth Taylor. The other two are Passion for Women and White Diamonds which are unisex imho. I love the three. 80's powerhouse fragances.

To me, this is a very comforting oriental. It is probably unlike any other scent in that category, enveloping you in a warm cloud of vanilla, tonka, spices and resins. They may not necessarily be all naturally obtained, yet the resulting composition is readily enjoyable.

love it. love the smell very unique. why smell like everyone else? the part that annoys me is the longevity.. it doesn't perform. i'm hopeful i just have a bad bottle. will purchase again/ try other techniques to lengthen its performance. its that good! worth the effort!

And ANOTHER compliment just today! I swear, EVERY TIME I pull this TRUE Hidden Gem out and wear it I GET A COMPLIMENT! Like EVERY-TIME! I own nearly 200 scents from designer, to clones to high end "niche," yet this "Cheapie" gets em' EVERY TIME! lol!

Disagree with Sindri, this juice actually lasts a long time but you might be a victim of the olfactory fatigue since this juice never shouts but constantly whispers, becoming a "second skin" type of fragrance, lingering around you for many hours

A lovely cologne. It's strength is definitely an EDT. Passion is spicy and fresh with strong cinnamon. Longevity and silage are both very good too. It is similar to GBH Red. A very nice and inexpensive perfume. Great for Christmas.

Each time i wear this scent , I remember the day I met Liz Taylor at the Ritz hotel in Paris & she kindly signed a note for me &I told her I was wearing her Fragrance & she smiled at me! I love this scent because of Liz Taylor💝

Love this a lot! One of the few men's fragrances that I find truly attractive and arousing. Lagerfeld classic and Beene Grey Flannel being the others. I'm 38 (female.) Maybe I have grandfather issues 🤔

A classic for a good reason. A must have for every male collection. Think Baptism or aunt's wedding: you want to smell amazing, but keep the cougars at bay? Lol. This one yells respect.

Still absolutely brilliant! One of the best and most complimented fragrances I have ever worn in 30+ years. Still top quality and unbeatable price vs quality. Superb!

For around $20 a bottle, the quality PFM delivers is high. This is a very pleasant long lasting scent. I get up to 12 hours of longevity with a few sprays.

Top stuff, if you like fragrances like Obsession and Zino you can't go wrong with this. Absolute classic as far as I'm concerned.

This is something I think I would be interested in getting sometime. Smells good and the art deco bottle is pretty cool too.

Elizabeth Taylor Passion for Men (what a double-edged name - one imagines all the lucky men she seduced) is one of those cheapies that you can't quite believe smells so good. The top has some aromatic fougere green sharpness, which fades into a warm nutmeg spicy ambery middle, and then a vanilla ambery base. Nothing surprising or unusual but impeccably blended and solid as a rock. I imagine a classy young Liz Taylor before she lamented the loss of her youth and turned into a big-jewelry horror show, giving the world a lesson in how not to grow old gracefully. I don't normally do celebrity-named scents because they seem so crassly commercial, and here I am extolling the virtues of one. Well, at least this is a classic dead celebrity and not a current one! After purchasing a heinous number of niche perfumes (with great damage to my wallet) I am currently enjoying ferreting out cheap perfumes that smell like they are expensive. Ignore inflammatory jibes from perfume snobs - they secretly dislike the idea that someone can smell great with pocket change. The bottles for these beauties range from rather plain to truly horrid (the plastic Old Spice bottle comes to mind), the caps often feel as if they will shatter if you pinch them, and the spray mechanisms are a bit iffy, but nobody will guess when all they experience is the liquid inside, unless you are unfortunate enough to run into an expert with a great scent memory ("Excuse me, is that Tabu you are wearing? How dreary."). Here are some of my favorite finds (with cheapie loosely defined), which I will try to update as my search goes on. There's a certain opaque melancholy inherent in August... I've always found. And PASSION "for men" suits this summertime sadness superbly with its skulking subtle purple presence - all shadows in the blinding glare of the summer sun. For in its current formulation, PASSION "FM" is a delicious - but - an instantaneous skin scent on me. I... cannot much knock a composition I barely have time to observe in its entirety... as this is more or less base notes in under 8 minutes. Shame that. I'd love to have been able to explore the full, original 1989 journey. In the fleeting initial decrescendo of notes there's flashes of quite a lot going on. And then very abruptly it all ends in a mercifully many hours long dry down of commendable old school repute. In fact, what this does undeniably remind me of is 1970's ~ early 90's Old Spice! (albeit a whisper of that reliable champ, as OS was a boozy bear hug of a cologne in those days... and gorgeous stuff! That which is sold in plastic bottles labeled "Old Spice" today is false advertising - a hollowed out shell - and criminally overpriced at nine or ten US dollars at that. Disgraceful.) But I digress. PASSION "FM” is perfectly lush... for the extreme intimacy it requires to notice it beyond one's own proximity to one's own body. And not without very decent longevity neither, for something labeled "cologne spray". But tragically in 2020 a good half-dozen or so sprays are required just to achieve the silage of an average cologne water. PASSION "FM” is now painfully meek. I'm quite certain I would be praising its composition unreservedly & effusively were it not for this glaring deficiency, too severe to ignore. Although, to its credit in this regard, I will say it's a rare heat-of-summer amenable Oriental! And that's not something come across every day. Fortunately for the price it can be had for one doesn't much mind indulging a heavy hand - as only lashings of this purple potion will do - on its own, that is. The secret I find is layering it with the "for the ladies" PASSION... et voilà... one is made valuable, and the other is perfected. (I always found the first PASSION fantastic... an yet a wee bit too heady/screechy on its own) One could easily believe that these two were a single fragrance, divided at birth. Not sure if Ms Taylor intended this as a chance discovery by opposite wearers but, it makes perfect purple scents to me with what's on the shelves in 2020. And, for what it's worth, I find the big, broad purple bottle solidly satisfying. ★★☆☆☆ (alone, in its current, retiring state) ★★★☆☆ (in tandem, with its sister creation)

This was one of the first purchases I ever made online when buying a cologne. I was on an old school Aromatic kick back then. eBay started in 95, and I got this in 98, I was 20 years old. The bottle according the seller was an original launch bottle from the late 80’s. A buddy of mine had this juice too from 2015, and I gotta tell you guys, mine is the better bottle. I read the reviews and almost all of you talk about the fruitiness, with my juice, fruit is not the star. With my bottle, the Patchouli is, and if I’m being honest, it’s f**king gorgeous too. Some patchouli based colognes come across as earthy, but this patchouli in my cologne comes across as almost that deep dark chocolaty patchouli. I’d also like to add that around this time I didn’t like the cologne, most likely due to my age, around this time I was more concerned with department store designer colognes like ADG, Cool Water, Hugo Boss, and Kouros. I had no time for older school colognes, or I should say patience. So here we are as of 2021 and my bottle from 98 is sitting in the far back of my collection now. Today for fun I decided to give this a solid wearing, and I don’t remember it smelling as good as it is. From what I’m reading in the reviews, we’re talking about a completely different cologne. My passion cologne is is a Chocolate Patchouli bomb, with that old school barbershop powdery slight spice aromatic type of cologne that can only be achieved from the 80’s or 70’s. I probably like it a lot more now because I’m getting up there in age. Besides the Patchouli goodness in this, other notes that stand out to me are cinnamon, carnation, oakmoss, amber, lavender, and musk, a whole lot of musk. Others have also mentioned that this stuff is short lived...No joking around here, I put 6 sprays on and I can smell it all the way till the next day, think Jacques Bogart type of nuclear longevity. I don’t really get any fruity notes, I mean maybe in the very beginning of cologne, but if I didn’t look at the pyramid here in this page, I wouldn’t be able to tell you that there’s fruity notes in this. All of you are going to laugh, but in some ways this cologne reminds me of Davidoff Zino, Zino also has that deep dark chocolatly patchouli as well, and although not a dupe, they do share some similarities. Not to worry though, I loved Davidoff Zino, and it wasn’t until I got Zino, that it made me appreciate this bottle more. If you’re into old school barbershop aromatics with nuclear performance, then this one just may be for you. I gotta respect this scent for what it is and what it does. 8/10
