Violet Eyes

I just bought this today and I must say that I really like it (perhaps it's even love!) I am a huge Elizabeth Taylor fan; I grew up watching her films and she is my favorite movie star, which is really saying something as I love Old Hollywood in general and I'm a film buff. Anyway, I've also always been around her fragrances; my grandmother wore Passion and now White Diamonds religiously. I do love White Diamonds, with it's Old Hollywood white-fur-and-diamonds aura and powdery comfort. I also like Gardenia, which is a true gardenia fragrance---and I've been around gardenias my whole life, being from the South. Southern women love their gardenias. Violet Eyes, however, is by far by favorite of Miss Taylor's collection. It's actually beautiful; I can imagine Elizabeth in her prime smelling like this (Fun fact: she wore Femme Rochas at one time, which is another peach scent---this could be considered a more sparkling version of Rochas---so she must love her peaches and jasmines, which is fine by me!) This perfume smells leaps and bounds more expensive than it is; this stuff smells higher quality than brands quadruple it's price or more. On my skin, I get peach from top to bottom, beginning to end, mixed with clean jasmine and soft peony. Then, a while late, the cedar comes to the party and stays. I usually don't like cedar, but it's very well done here and doesn't overpower the other notes. This is one fragrance that is really good at how it wears; I mean you don't get a blast of top notes and then they completely wear off and then you're left with just bottom notes, which is how a LOT of perfume performs. In Violet Eyes, the notes flow gracefully into each other and at the end, you're left with the base notes being most prominent, but the top notes are still there, just softly. Also, the silage is great. I sprayed one spray and could smell it, as could the person sitting next to me. It isn't over whelming, just perfect. Excellent longevity as well. Did Elizabeth and co. make a mistake when they priced this stuff? It could be sold for much more! It's very nice quality. I predict I'll be wearing this frequently this Spring, and Fall as well; so all year, basically. ;) The bottle is beautiful as well! I heard that Miss Taylor's daughter, Liza, was the one that chose the shade of violet as well as the marketing image/style. --- Summary: Silage: Moderate (noticeable but not obnoxious) Longevity: Excellent Overall rating: 10/10 (Perfect for it's genre. Beautiful especially for a Spring day. Think white eyelet dress, long hair, sunny day...)

My mother wore White Diamonds and I hated it. It was overpowering, disarming really, and the sillage, that stuff never went away... So that bad experience honestly ruined any expectation I would ever have of liking anything by Elizabeth Taylor. Quite by accident, while surfing this site a year ago, I saw the feedback on this scent. The notes listed, the general consensus was quite good. And a significant number of the positive reviewers had stated the same feelings about White Diamond that I had. Soooo, I had to try it. The opening of the perfume is sweet and peachy, but a sweet blend of florals really opens up, and the drydown reveals amber and peony (which is so nice to see a sweet flower at the base!). The sillage is amazing, but nothing like White Diamonds. It does fade, but slowly, and you get a whole day of wear from it (you need to refresh in the evening, though). This is a great day scent, but the complexity of it is easily taken into the night. This is my signature scent. I simply love it. Others have compared it to Light Blue, but I heartily disagree. Light Blue is very citrusy and sharp (and I do love that fragrance!!), and there is a missing complexity. And while I can appreciate the comparison to Luscious Pink, I see a marked difference in Violet Eyes. Luscious Pink is syrupy sweet, but Violet Eyes is NOT AT ALL. The base with the amber and cedar takes it from a cotton candy sugar scent to a complete floral multi-dimensional religious experience.

I received a sample of Violet Eyes from a frangrantica member, andd it was instant love! I cannot believe that there are no Violet notes in this perfume, and like a couple of reviews before me, I wonder if it's the name that is playing tricks on me, making me believe there is Violet....Or maybe it IS a combination of 2-3 other notes that make it smell this way. Either way, I dont care, I really love this perfume. I am not great at describing notes, but it's nothing like anything I own, all I can tell you is that it is a beautiful floral, and I love Cedar in perfumes. VE is perfect, glamourous and classy. I think its a safe scent in that it's not in your face, you could wear it for work and is inoffensive, but it's beautiful enough to be worn on special occasions. It's gentle, but please don't cofuse that with weak, it's defiantely not that! It last me a good 6-8 hours which is always a plus for me. When I have finished this sample I will be ordering some of this beauty, this will become a perfect go-to perfume, to use on days when other perumes just wont do. Not in a bad way, what I mean it is is perfect for summer/winter, day/night, office/evening out. This is a perfect all rounder. EDITED TO ADD: A wonderful Fragrantica Secret Santa (Denoula) sent me a 100ml bottle of this beauty for Christmas, and I couldnt be happier, I have worn it almost every day since, I cant seem to get enough of this beauty. MY GOLLY GOSH! Why am I just now trying Violet Eyes for the first time? I could have been smelling crazy good a long time ago! WOW, this smells expensive! This is way better than some of the high end fragrances out there. Out of all the perfumes I have and have had, Violet Eyes went straight to my "Favorite" shelf. First spray screamed at me with a tartness! It was just about to burn my nose (which only lasted maybe 2-3 mins) when it began to calm down. Oh yes indeed...it immediately began calming down into this amazing beautiful scent and the tartness faded. In the dry down, Violet Eyes is soft and silky but has great sillage. A little goes a long way. I sprayed and walked through it. It is definitely floral as the peony and jasmin stands out a lot with very very light whiffs of rose. It has a slight sweetness which must be the peach. I can not pick the peach note out, it's just ever so slightly sweet. There is a spiciness that gives it a gorgeous umph. The notes say Virginia cedar but I don't really get a smoky or woodsy smell. Maybe a hint right before the scent starts to fade away. It's more of a floral with hints of sweet and spice scents which makes this fragrance beautiful and perfect. Violet Eyes does favor D&G Light Blue but with a little spice which (to me) makes it so much better than D&G Light Blue. I will be on the hunt for more bottles of Violet Eyes forsure

Dear Readers, What can I say about this perfume but a must have. I say this because its a very excellent day perfume and office friendly too! also yes this isn't like Elizabeth's first perfumes, Violet Eyes isn't like her older sisters that were very opulent , passionate and elegantly bold. Violet Eyes has a more casual elegant beauty, a lady still rich with depth but modest but strong in grace is her beauty where her presence really wont offend anyone for she isn't over powering and yet gets your attention a like mysterious mother of pearl caressing your senses and mind to wonder more of this beautifully mysterious, demure and provocative creature. On me ,it lasted a nice modest amount of time and the sillage was also modest , I cant say which notes came out most with my body's chemistry all I can say is created a excitement for people trying to figure out where the gorgeous scent was coming from and once finding the source only to showered with complements and sincere admirations for such a mysterious fresh scent. I highly recommend this for any woman of any age, perfect gift to a receiver who enjoys fresh feminine mysterious scent that always breaks the ice to make people come to you and get them to talk with you, its very inviting fragrance that stirs excitement.

This perfume is so so beautiful. I realize now that I’m a big fan of cedar, which can read peppery to my nose! This and Miu Miu Twist are cedar queens. Summer. The summers here are scorchers and this is light, crisp, sparkly and refreshing. This is maybe the same vein of the light blue-ish type of composition but not citrus, with airy sweet and fresh floral notes balanced by peppery cedar. I’ve heard people say it’s weak. What?? I think youve gone nose-blind? Ive learned not to trust people on here who say perfume doesn’t last because they are perfume addicts and have worn out their own noses!! Lol, anosmia is a real thing. My husband will comment on it hours after I can’t smell it anymore... Don’t underestimate the silage on this one. I smelled this on the air around a lady 10 feet away at back to school night. It’s unmistakable. Gorgeous light airy-fairy fragrance. I’m almost done with my bottle. I’ll get another for sure. Always pleasant, floaty, sweet and fresh. Very versatile and long lasting - full 8 hrs of wear. Fantastic

Since I have started sampling perfumes, Violet Eyes has a special job. She rescues me from bad perfume days!! This fragrance refreshes me and reminds me of what I love. It's a calming, serene scent, kind of like the color. It has a strong cedar presence, which makes sense since cedar is used in aromatherapy to de-stress and bring a sense of calm and clarity. The first time I wore it, I was surprised what a light, peppery/woodsy scent it was. Like an enchanted forest at night with a sweet peach and peony that feels airy. I love this so much. Its the most amazing, sparkling woodsy floral I've ever worn. This smells so so good, and fits any situation. Very modern! The actual longevity is (now that I can smell it) around 10 hours!! I'm still not so sure about the sillage, this one gives you unexpected wafts, but I think it's moderate. Big love. Update: This made my husband actually say "oooo what perfume is that? You smell good." That has never happened before.

Having only tried White Diamonds previously, I wasn't too sure about whether I would like Violet Eyes or not, but having looked at the reviews and found it available at a very reasonable price, I took the plunge. Initially, I thought I had made a big mistake, as on initial spray it opened in a very similar way to WD - almost overwhelming, and with an old fashioned air to it (which I thought might be aldehydes), but it soon quietened down to an peppery peach scent. The peach then asserts itself, sweet and juicy, before being joined by a soft rose and jasmine. Now after five hours, the cedar wood is now prevailing, with a slight hint of the rose. This is seems to be an extraordinary scent, if it works for you, for the price. The bottle that I received is 150ml, so it will last an age - the bottle, by the way, is a pretty violet colour. I think that when I finally finish this bottle, I will be looking to buy again, as I love it.

I finally just gave in and made this my signature scent. When I walked by my husband wearing this he said that right there is the best one you have. ✨🌸🌹 I put it on last night after not wearing it for a week and I went dammmmmn this is good. It just feels like me. There’s something light and sparkly and Fairy💫🌈 like but also sensual and grounded- the cedar, which is the sparkle part. I can still smell this on me 7 to 8 hours later and the next day my clothes still smell like it. I also love light blue and this is similar, but it’s more unique and sensual in my opinion. A peach, peony and cedar symphony that floats on the air and casts its spell. I have a giant bottle and will be getting a back up. Carlos Benaim is the nose on this one! ✨layering notes: -Violet sandalwood oil (Mojave ghost dupe by sand & fog) Amazing. -Nemat Amber oil- gives sensual bohemian vibes

I am so impressed with this. Pure bleach couldn't make something as clean as this smells. It's soft, terribly soft, and hits you like whole body pillow upside the head. That's not a negative statement. It's big and powerful, but gentle, fluffy, and dreamy as a giant Serta mattress sheep! It's effervescent and tingly as the best champagne. I find it as exciting as flowering fragrant bushes that rush past your nose in the spring, but I can't really say it's a floral. Totally in love with this. What's it smell like? It doesn't SMELL like cedar, but effect is very cedar-like. It doesn't SMELL like violets, but this scent mimics powdery violets. This is definitely an outstanding perfume! I have no idea why I like it. It's a one of a kind scent like L'air du temps. It's peppery and citrusy and yes, kinda like Luscious Pink. I love it oodles and oodles!

I received several samples of ET fragrances in a giveaway. Having never smelled any of her scents, I was so excited to dive in. I chose one at random for my first test, Violet Eyes. And oh my gosh....I'm swooning! My son wears DSquared Rocky Mountain Wood, and I absolutely love it. Violet Eyes reminds me very much of a slightly more floral version of Wood. Violet Eyes is a fresh, foresty floral. Right up my alley. I cannot believe violet is not listed as a note, though - it must be a combination of the other notes that gives off the violet vibe. Give me violets and a forest of fresh green trees and I can't get enough. This scent has both in abundance. I'm going to use up this sample quickly, and hope to find a full bottle ASAP. Wow, this is gorgeous. EDIT: tested on Friday night, found a purse spray for $3.99 on Saturday. Gotta love TJ Maxx.:)

This is totally worth it, even if you just want the pretty lavender colored diamond encrusted bottle. I think it’s my favorite bottle in my collection. I display it on my dresser as my room is filled with lavender and purple. Let me say first off, I am not a fruity floral fan, but this one is done well. It’s classy,pretty, and powdery. Jasmine, peony and rose are notes that I am fussy about, but they are well blended here with none sticking out. In fact, my bougee perfume loving friend complimented me when I wore this once. Violet Eyes is a gorgeous scent that is signature worthy and is often found in discount stores, though I haven’t seen it in ages so maybe word is out that she’s a beauty so if you see it, don’t hesitate to purchase! It smells expensive, but you can buy this gem for $10 to $20! Enjoy!

I like White Diamonds parfum, so I blind bought this and Diamonds and Rubies, because the prices were good. I got this on Overstock in the large size, and the Rubies in a small size on Amazon. I like Violet Eyes better. Rubies is spicy and powdery and kind of got caught in my throat. Violet Eyes is a clear, bright scent. It doesn't have any sort of powdery scent, at least not yet. I may have to try it a few times to be sure. It starts out strong, but in a clean, fresh way. Slightly sharp and soapy, but less strong than Rubies. I haven't gotten to the dry down yet so I guess I will edit this later. If you are wondering which Elizabeth Taylor perfumes to try, and you do not like powdery scents much, try this one. It's a floral without the strong powder.

She has an office job as a PA or bookkeeper or librarian or something like that. She's good at it and probably underpaid but she's not ambitious. She's carrying some sadness but not because she's single; something else. No-one really knows her story or quite likes to ask. She's intelligent, kind, warm and well-liked, but very private. She has classic tastes and a fondness for old fashioned things. Silk scarves and flowers on her desk. She has a few perfumes. An old dab-on of Chanel No 5 she inherited from an aunt, and a bottle of Eau de Rochas she bought on holiday. She doesn't wear them much. She has just one favourite. She wears Violet Eyes.

I find this to be a dreamy lilac scent that has a certain ' Betsy Johnson' depth to it. It goes on bright and citrusy, merges to the more opulent jasmine, peony and cedar giving off this lovely candied-violet scent. It is light yet has great longevity and sillage. I really did not think it would suit my fruity-floral-gourmand tastes but it more than does! It seems to be everything I want my perfume to be: woods make it fresh and laundry-clean, citrus balance the florals and the sweetness is that of a freshly sliced lychee if that makes sense: it is neither cloying nor too candyish and more fluffy than syrupy. I strongly recommend!

I had never tried this one before, but I got a sample along with White Diamonds. WD doesn't work well for me no mater how beautiful it is - Some Lilies don't mesh well up close with my nose. But this oh mercy! Why oh Why have I waited so long to try this? This works so well with my chemistry. Everything about this works for me, The peach is light and fragrant, lately I a have been drawn to peach and peach/amber scents. The peony/rose combo along with the amber and cedar are big craves of mine. This is a love through and through and, I will be getting this very soon - it has the potenial of becoming a daytime signatue for me.

I got this last winter and I look forward to wearing it again THIS winter. Its crisp notes are PERFECT in cold temps. The creamy peachy cedar is subtle but at the same time comforts for hours on end. I can detect the amber, rose and jasmine all on drydown as distinctive notes. It reminds me of warm, cuddly sweaters and a hot cup of coffee, watching Netflix movies on a snowy day. At this highly affordable price for a generous bottle I'd advise you not to hesitate and just go ahead and take the leap with this lovely chilly-weather fragrance. I'm a gourmand girl but I still love this. I think you'll love it too. :)

I think this is a nice summer parfume. It's a soft, slightly fruity, floral mix, with a little peppery dry-down. This perfume has longevity that is unreal. I can still smell it 8 hours later. It fits so well with my body chemistry. So many fragrances fade into nothing quickly. I bought the 100 ml in an online store, for 15$. The bottle is made of frosted glas, like Sparkling white diamonds, and the box is really pretty. To me it was a really good bargain, and I now have most of Elizabeth Taylors parfumes. I like them, and I don ́t think they ́re old lady-scent at all.

I never would have guessed I'd love this one as much as I do. I totally get the comparisons to D&G Light Blue, and it makes perfect sense considering they share some of the same notes (jasmine, rose, amber, and cedar). While Light Blue is fresh and musky, Violet Eyes has a lovely sweetness and none of the citrus. It absolutely SPARKLES on the skin. I bought a small travel size of this initially and now have a FB on the way. It has been an excellent performer for the price and the heat of summer gives it a sexy vibe. This is a new love for me.

Tried this in-store but decided to wait for a sale. The tester bottle I tried it smell like some kind of body lotion. I will blind-buy this at a later stage, the tester is not right. Update: above was written in May, for my records I have now bought this frag, the bottle I've just bought now July 2017, code 1HA8 was manufactured in June 2011, smells so fresh, cedar, rose floral, and fabulous, age has nothing to do with it. I think Elizabeth must have enjoyed this one as much all as her other fragrances that she had a hand in the making of.

Elizabeth Taylor Violet Eyes, eau de parfum. Was developed and released in 2010. Sadly the world lost the fabulous Elizabeth Taylor in 2011. Carlos Benaim is the nose of this fabulous fragrance he also developed the original White Diamonds in 1991. Stays very close to the skin, sensual, very feminine, aquatic, white floral, sea & salt, as its an eau de parfum excellent value for money. I am a collector and own many Elizabeth Taylor fragrances. All are quality and long lasting. I love Violet Eyes. Very classy & romantic.

I wore this the other day for the first time and got tons of compliments, so this gem is definitely a keeper in my collection. There are some similarities with Eclat D'Arpege but with Lanvin one I never really got along as it was little to weak and boring for me(Although it smells lovely). Violet Eyes just has more aura. It's a very classy and sophisticated fragrance and you can easily wear it whenever and wherever as it's really not offensive. Longevity could be improved. If you want to feel like a classy lady get it.

I love her so much. She is fresh and light. Too light. Lacking in longevity and projection. It sits close to the skin and turns into a skin scent within an hour on me. I spray heavily and layer with BBW warm brown sugar. I'm playing with layering options. It's only been a month and I'm half way through the bottle. Definitely a body mist. Not a true EDT. It's not fair to hate on the name of the fragrance because there aren't any violet notes. The reason behind the name is beautiful and makes it more special to me.

I wore Violet Eyes to work yesterday, it's the first wearing this year. I love to wear it in the Autumn/Winter, as it just reminds me so much of Christmas. I don't know if its the Cedar that does this, all I know is that I FEEL really Christmas-ey when I wear it.....15+ hours longevity on me, and I could still faintly smell it on my sheets this morning. Beautiful. To me this is sophisticated, graceful elegance, just like Elizabeth herself.

This is my signature scent and my favorite perfume. It works really well with my chemistry.I don't find it strange thast there are no violets in it- It's named after Elizabeth Taylor and her famous violet eyes. My favorite note in any fragrance is cedar and this delivers-paired well with the powdery white floral and just a hint of the oriental. It's weird but I also pick up a salt tang. It's very dry, not at all cloying and I love it.

What a beautiful cedar note in this lovely perfume by the most lovely miss Taylor! It’s soft, feminine and easy to wear, and I think this scent is a perfect reflection of Elizabeth herself; strong and noticeable, humble and beautiful. The opening is very sharp and woody, yet airy and inoffensive. It then settles into soft peony and cedar, and during late hours and even in the next morning I can still smell the comforting basenotes.

I am not a fan of White diamonds or gag Passion. Maybe they are okay to some in very small doses, but they are too overpowering to me. I would never had even dared to try Violet Eyes until I read such wonderful reviews. I LOVE this scent. It is a creamy bouquet of flowers. It is soft and subtle, but staying power and sillage is terrific. It is Luscious Pink's big sister, less candies fruit, more lasting floral.

My last review vas for "Light Blue", I mentioned that it was fresh & clean but not really feminine. Violet Eyes, to me, smells similar but sweeter. The peach is a lovely, zingy start. The rose follows behind as it starts to become more lady-like. Followed by warm amber & cedar that give it sexiness. Violet Eyes reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor's life. Sweet, fiesty, feminine, strong & sexy.

This is a great affordable light fresh-fruity-floral. It's along the lines of Light Blue, Daisy (especially Daisy) and I Love Love. If you love these perfumes, or fragrances similar to those, you would most likely love this one! Perfect for Spring and Summer, but super fresh for Summer without being "beachy". The dry down is similar to Light Blue if LB also had a fruitiness to it.

Today I am warring Violet Eyes by Elizabeth Taylor. This was the last fragrance she put our before she passed away. I wore it today to honor the last TRUE Hollywood Legend. Yesterday I wore her White Diamonds and I will be warring one of her fragrances for the next week to honor a true Legend and pioneer in the fight agents aids/hiv. We all love and Miss you Elizabeth Taylor!

like nothing else i own really beautiful very cedar-y yet extremely feminine i generally do big spicey bombs with huge sillage obsession, tabu, habanita or huge voluptuous roses like knowing and diva this is an effervescent picker upper i can't see this really bugging anyone as far as on someone else smells clean and pretty not sexy no "statement" glad i bought it

Sweet Tarts ! Cedary Sweet tarts candy. Definitely a departure for the Elizabeth Taylor line. It's cedar, with , powdery sweet tarts candy . It's bright and vibrant. Just lovely ! It's similar to Light Blue because of the cedar. Only because of the cedar. There's no astringent citrus . Given that it's so affordable ( under $25 ) I think it's a safe blind buy.

Without checking the notes I would've thought I'd see citruses listed. Opens hugely tart and fresh, then some subtly done florals. Dry down is softly woody with ambery musk. I love it; unique in my collection, cute bottle, & very unexpected for Taylor overall. p.s. I thought Eclat d'arpege would be similar, it's not. VE is so much better. More character.

Violet Eyes by Elizabeth Taylor is very long lasting on me. 8-12+ hrs and not over powering. (3 light sprays,wrists & neck) I can smell it on myself without smelling my wrist. A light feminine cloud of scent lingers around me all day. Peach and cedar makes me feel clean fresh. Peony and light rose adds a nice soft pillowy dreamy effect. Just lovely!

This is my first Elizabeth Taylor perfume, and it's really gorgeous! I love the colour of it, so pretty, and the perfume matches that. It's very pretty, elegant and feminine. Lovely sweet flowers and fruit, and beautiful soft smooth amber, with fresh vital cedar, gives me a real feeling of happiness and alluring femininity. It's really beautiful.

I got this online from Walmart last Christmas time very cheaply.I think the description got me as I do not like Elizabeth's other fragrances. I am glad I got it. It starts out strongly lilac for me, but soon turns to a fresh but sweet bouquet of flowery lushness. For me it lasts and lasts with a dry down that reminds me of "Flowerbomb".

I adore Violet Eyes. It's the only perfume I can wear from the Elizabeth Taylor collection because It's not outdated and the notes are seamlessly blended. A masterpiece by Carlos Benaïm. It's like the woody floral version of the citrusy fresh Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. Beautiful and reasonably priced.

So beautiful,this is a personality,beauty,charm,mature,calming,romantic all in its scent,captured. I feel so much comfort when I smell this&beautifully made,there is a sharpness,a softness,floral,woody,sweetness,it's pretty, amazing job,I love this,really do!Average longevity, worth owning&wearing;-)

This is, by far, my favorite inexpensive perfume. Although it doesn't list pepper, I definitely get a peppery note when I first spray it on. Maybe it's the amber. It's lush and unusual on me. It may not be for everyone, but I love it and I really don't care for any of the other E.T. fragrances.

Gorgeous and fun to wear. Everything is well-blended and reads classy. Perfumey cedar note in this is outstanding. Peach is light, fresh and sheer. The whole composition is sheer but really projects on me. Powdery! Peony and rose are often an issue on my skin, but it's lovely start to finish.

This is probably my favorite blind buy ever, it's very powdery on me without smelling like an old lady. Fresh, clean, a bit sweet, very light floral notes. Last time I wore it I swear it smelled like actual violets and candy but today the powder is strong. Just the right strength, too

Although aged 23, I love the whats considered more 'mature' frags, which is why the E.T collection appeals to me so much. This one has a younger and a slightly more modern feel to it compared to the other frags in the collection. Still a lovely scent though.

Tested this yesterday at Kohl's and fell instantly in love with it! It's not an overpowering floral, but very crisp and warm at the same time. If that makes any sense haha. Another that made me want to smell my wrists all day. It just made me happy!

As many on this forum love it and it was cheap I bought this one. Sprayed it on after leaving the store. Love it since. Just keep thinking every few minutes: Wow I smell good! I'll say: Go for it, it's lovely! Can't go wrong

I was afraid the cedar note would make this smell masculine, but it is only there at first spray, then very light afterwards, supporting the other notes beautifully. This is mood lifter, office safe, and fresh.

Totally love this perfume! Everyone complements me and says how wonderful l I smell. So, not only do i enjoy the essence, everyone else does too. I love flowery and sweet smells. This one makes the cake... YUM!

This is so fresh and wonderful and as far from white diaomonds one can get. Mostly floral but sweet floral if that makes sense, I smell violets but perhaps its the bottle that fools me. Its love for me!
