White Diamonds Eau de Parfum

After over a year since spraying it for the first time, I find that my bottle has macerated very nicely. It matures slightly and it doesn’t turn at all. In fact, I like it even more and find it more comforting to wear over a year after the bottle was first sprayed. It’s still the same, but there’s more amber floral depth that reads as a very high quality, sophisticated, and womanly perfume. The presence it creates is that of a woman who knows her value and knows how to choose a fragrance. It blends well with my chemistry. With a more mature bottle, there’s less of the hint of melon in the drydown, less of an aldehydic smack in the face at first, and more of a shimmering warm spicy floral with womanly wisdom and elegance and just a hint of sweet fruit. It simply cannot be compared to the cliché that the eau de toilette has become. It’s likely to be unrecognized now, or perhaps perceived as an improvement on the original. But people think of the eau de toilette when they think of White Diamonds. The eau de parfum demands more sophisticated attire, but I’m so confident about the very deep heart of this EDP that I know it won’t offend even if someone recognizes it. I categorically refuse to touch the eau de toilette. But I love the eau de parfum and it loves me back. I was a Chanel, Bond No. 9, and Hermès only kind of girl for the longest time, and this eau de parfum is of no less quality. For anyone who loves the classics, the market has changed for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the grande dames of the twentieth century have been reformulated for the worse, many beyond recognition. Most classic French perfumes have sadly been slain through reformulation. Some Spanish and Italian fragrances have at least endured. Not all American perfumes have retained their glory. Even though Youth-Dew and White Linen live on beautifully albeit more quietly, Beautiful by Estée Lauder was utterly ruined. It was once a powerful and majestic floral, and now it’s a cheap smelling powdery nothing. But White Diamonds eau de parfum has endured. Niche fragrances have continued to evolve, as have their price points, but way down at the lower end of the market sits White Diamonds eau de parfum in all its continuous glory. I don’t even see fit to discuss any other Elizabeth Taylor fragrances including WD EDT as being worthy of comparison with White Diamonds eau de parfum. Secondly, at this point in time, the world is by and large budgeting differently than even one or two years ago. In the U.S., where this eau de parfum is made, it can be had for under 30 dollars. Why pay more for less?

I don't think this perfume can be IFRA compliant LOL! Wow! This is a big perfume, this is worn by a woman w/ confidence, she owns the room and knows it. This is sooo Elizabeth Taylor. Classy, powerful, dynamic. I don't know if I can pull this one off! I will have to go easy w/ White Diamonds to start off w/, she and I will have to get to know each other a bit. It is very aldehydic, soapy, mossy, woody, white and yellow floral. 1 spray is all you will need and spray your top and walk away for 20mins and wait to put it on and that will let the perfume settle. When it settles down it is a very pretty classic perfume. My Grandmother would've loved this one! I have a feeling I can grow into WD, the more I smell it the more I like it. It is grand. 1028/21 Pick up the dusting powder to go w/ this as well. It is fab and your skin will sparkle like there are crushed diamonds on it. Edit: 1/14/23 I wore this yesterday (again) it seems I reach for this soooo much. I just can't get enough of it the more I smell it. I get my bottle out often (which is 1/2 gone) just to smell it. The more I wear this the more obsessed I become w/ this perfume. A full 1.7 ounce bottle of this costs anywhere between $22-26. I like the toilette but the eau de parfum what the reviewer above said if you don't try this version, you are missing the whole point of this perfume. This is a signature worthy perfume and I have to upgrade my review to a LOVE!!! Animalic, musky, floral, mossy, rich, tuberose, ylang, aldehydic heaven. Chanel #5 has nothing on White Diamonds, nothing. I gave #5 another try recently (our Sephora now has it out for sample) to see if my opinion has changed. I was a lot younger when I tried it before. And nope it is still very, very antiseptic. Most Chanel's come off that way to me except the Allure line. White Diamonds has aldehyde but there is nothing antiseptic about it, it is pure sensuality. If you love white/yellow animalic florals and aldehyde you have to try this instead of the toilette. Also, Elizabeth Taylor knew what smelled sexy, and what men want a woman to smell like. This gets you compliments from both sexes. And I know young girls in their 20's who adore this perfume ever since I introduced them to this and Elizabeth Arden's Red Door.

I'm very late to trying this perfume. I just received it in the mail from FragranceNet this afternoon. I really liked it! However, I was expecting this to be a lot stronger since it's the EDP. Of course this is a reformulation also. I'm not going to return it because the price was so affordable. I loved the initial spray of top notes, but I didn't get any of the ones listed here. I got the sandalwood, amber, ylang-ylang, narcissus and lily. Now it's been couple of hours and the musk has entered, which I am enjoying along with the aforementioned notes. I really wish this projected more. Maybe I can't tell because I'm inside my own scent bubble, but I only sprayed it on one arm since I didn't know if I'd like this or not. It became a skin scent quickly on me. But I'm fine with that because powdery scents can be offensive to some people around you. This one works very well with my skin chemistry so I'm very relieved. I also own the reformulated Shalimar and Samsara EDP by Guerlain. I am sad that I cannot stand Shalimar no matter how many chances I give it. I LOVE Samsara though. I also have Coco EDP by Coco Chanel and I ADORE that fragrance. I would say White Diamonds is somewhere in the middle between Samsara and Coco Chanel. Powder and floral. White Diamonds would be my #3 choice out of these. My mother who is in her 80's never liked White Diamonds (and doesn't like this reformulation either), which kind of surprised me because she loves Eternity by Calvin Klein (I do NOT), and she likes L'air du Temps (I also love). I am not sure if I can recommend this perfume since it's just too subjective. I am happy with this since I really like it, and it was a blind buy. I feel ultra feminine wearing this and I live in South Florida, close to Miami. For me, White Diamonds does just fine with this ungodly heat and humidity.

White Diamonds has become my signature fragrance. I’ve always adored it, but I never imagined wearing it myself until I hit 40 and ran out of F’s to give. Now I wear what I like, and any peasant who doesn’t like it is free to leave. It is among the best-selling fragrances of all time for a reason. If you can get past the petty, unmerited internet hate, you will find a masterpiece. Yes, it starts out screechy. It is a cloud of sharp aldehydes and Amazon lily. But the dry down is a rich, creamy Egyptian tuberose, amber, and sandalwood. Once it settles, it feels like a warm hug from someone who loves you. The sillage of White Diamonds varies wildly. The EDT arrives 15 minutes before you do and stays until last call. The EDP, which I prefer, is softer and less "in your face." The pure parfum is the most grounded of all, trading room-filling volume for a heavy, creamy, and intimate projection. All three concentrations have the power to stay with you all day and offer incredible value for the money. I get compliments constantly, especially from younger people that didn't grow up around this fragrance. It’s also the last thing most strangers expect a 6'1", 165‐lb man to be wearing. You can watch the recognition dawn on some people, and there’s a confused pause while they try to match the scent to the person around them. Skipping this gem because a handful of grown children online think it smells “omg like no so old” is ridiculous. Wear whatever the hell you want and enjoy it. Life is too short to worry about the opinions of people who, in the end, don’t matter. EDIT: If you enjoy dialing up the sillage to the level of a full-fledged OSHA violation as I occasionally do, get BOTH the body powder and the lotion. You'll thank me later.

I did a paper test of the EDP--a single spray 24 hours ago--and it still smells stronger than most other EDPs would after only an hour or two. It seems to me that the Elizabeth Taylor EDTs are about the strength of most companies' EDPs, if not stronger, and this EDP seems just about as strong to me as an extrait de parfum, if not pure parfum even. It's crazy that this beyond-reasonably priced perfume smells so good, too--I admit that I was a bit biased against it because it's so popular, but sometimes things are popular for a reason (kittens, babies, Snickers bars), and you'd have to be the worst kind of niche reactionary to hate a fragrance simply because so many other people love it. Besides, compared with all the fruity florals out there and the endless parade of gourmands, White Diamonds almost smells unusual these days, which is obviously a paradox because (last I heard anyway) it's the most popular fragrance in the world. I guess it depends what circles you travel in. But to my nose this is just lovely, and you can't ask for better performance, either in terms of projection or longevity. The woods notes are very pretty, not nearly as sharp as they are in some other, edgier French perfumes I have grown to love, but still assertive enough that you notice them, especially on the drydown. I have yet to do a real skin test yet, but if this performs anywhere near as well on my skin as it does on paper, it will be the best $10.50 I ever spent.

The perfect complement for the eau de toilette. Absolutely an evening and cold weather fragrance. White Diamonds eau de parfum is pure class, elegance and drama in a bottle. An opening with very strong lilies and bergamot, a heart with intoxicating and exuberant flowers mainly tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose plus some violets and glorious and dark base notes of sandalwood, moss, musk and as in the eau de toilette, civet. This is a stronger concentration with no doubt at all and must be sprayed with extreme caution because elegance is just a line away from vulgarity. With the proper dosage White Diamonds in either concentration is a perfume worth of the most elegant and powerful woman. This is not for timid people or dessert fragrance lovers. You must be ready to wear WD or it will wear you. Magnificent in every way!

White Diamonds EDP is yellow perfume magic. American perfumery created by a Moroccan who became American, an ode to a British American. It's a huge bargain in the USA. Europe still respects the EDP as a commodity with a certain value. I mean, just smell it! Have you seen Chanel prices in 2024? White Diamonds EDP is 25 USD in the USA, and it's everything. The mind boggles. Among American yellows, rivaled by Giorgio and Estée Lauder Beautiful. Surprise, White Diamonds EDP is in the best shape. You can find vintage Giorgio without much hassle, and it's worth it because it ages well and is gorgeous. I perfectly remember how gorgeous Beautiful was in the 80s. It simply is not, today. White Diamonds is an acquired taste, mind you. Easily perceived as de trop.

Elizabeth Taylor wore Bal à Versailles before she started her own fragrance line. So what would it smell like to retain some of the majestic presence and big personality of Bal à Versailles and change the motif to a spicy mossy soapy sweet white floral? It would be White Diamonds eau de parfum. The spice in White Diamonds eau de parfum snaps sort of the same way the leather of Calèche d’Hermès snaps, and both stay soapy clean. That spice offsets the sweetness of the flowers and adds some piquancy to the deep oakmoss in White Diamonds eau de parfum. Late in the dry down there’s almost a semisweet melon note, but it is surely a masterful blend of florals. It’s multifaceted the way Elizabeth Taylor liked her fragrances and her gemstones.

Excellent reviews by GoodVibrations and Mystères du Château de Dé below! I completely agree, the mind boggles at the low price of this fragrance today... I have a wardrobe full of expensive perfumes, and the quality of White Diamonds is second to none. White Diamonds smells glamorous, sophisticated, and very expensive... The epitome of Elizabeth Taylor dripping in diamonds in all her Old Hollywood Glamour! I have (and love) the current EDP, but my favorite formula, if you can find it, is the vintage EDT in the pretty oval spray bottle with gold bow on top. I'll never stop loving White Diamonds, and I actually enjoy it a bit more now that it's not so popular... It has become a hidden gem! :)

Much more floral than the edt and less sweet. Slightly more soapier too. Not as sweet and "sparkle-y" as the edt-- the eau de parfum is missing the cinnamon. Still a lovely EDP nonetheless. I prefer the edt, to be honest.it may not be as concentrated as the EDP, but I like the ever so slight sweetness, and "buttery" tuberose accord..the lilly & tuberose accord is way more dominant in the pure parfum, which I definitely prefer over these 2. I find myself wearing the eau de parfum when I'm going out, it's a bit harder to find then the edt. This also sits close to skin, while the EDT projects more. But this one is longer lasting, in my opinion.

It could pass as a vintage Guerlain. It's that good. And only the marketing/branding/price throws people off and gives them false negative perceptions of this. I love original Coco by Chanel and Mitsouko by Guerlain, and am a fan of Chanel no. 5.. This is like those. Lovely to see such a plethora of notes on these vintages, and blended so smoothly. What a work of art! I haven't tried the edt but I'm sure I'd recognize it.

Another White Diamonds beauty, the EDP comes in a gorgeous frosted bottle, & is much more of a rich yellow floral than the EDT. It's a more floral and less soapy. Like the EDT, it has huge silage and longevity. I wear this to bed all the time, it is so comforting and embracing to me. The EDP is richer and lasts longer than the EDT, while the EDT projects more. A timeless, absolutely beautiful, classic fragrance.

This is gorgeous, truly the heart of White Diamonds. The white florals are bolder, the oakmoss & sandalwood are darker and woodier, and the ylang absolutely sparkles. Massive sillage and lasts for 12+ hrs on skin, days on clothes. I love this in the spring & summer, but it truly can be worn and enjoyed year-round. Fantastic all around!

I feel I was ‘tricked’ (not that I’m blaming anyone) into buying this by the idea suggested by the pyramid and notes here (which looked attractive) as well as by some reviews that it’s not like the EDT. Although I don’t have the EDT on hand to verify this, but from memory, I don’t think it’s different - probably just a different concentration as, according to alternative sources, the notes are the same. I think the aldehydes reign in this as much as in the EDT as well as ‘classical’ flowers, which I can’t recognise as any flowers at all. It’s a 15ml, but still too much as I can’t wear this. I mean a 1.5ml would have been enough to keep for reference. Don’t be misled. If you are not into the EDT, you probably won’t be into the EDP either. PS: wearing it in Dec 2025 and enjoying it. Imagine that! Never say never, and I need to revisit the EDT as well.

this was my grandma's signature perfume. it smells nice, and it reminds me of her. but the tuberose helps date this fragrance. it really was a beautiful perfume, and probably the first mainstream celebrity fragrance ever. although it is something i wouldnt wear myself, it is a scent i have fond memories. the eau de toilette version is very strong as well, you can find it in a gift box set every Christmastime at the pharmacy. only a few sprays will last several hours. i think the difference is the edt version is more powdery than the edp. both are extremely similar, and will last a long time. definitely an amazing budget perfume. I think the 2 most popular perfumes for traditionalists were either this or Chanel No 5.

Just a gentle suggestion to those whose bottle smells different from expectations: give it a few weeks to macerate. Let it sit a bit, it may improve greatly. Same for other Elizabeth Taylor perfumes.

The White Diamonds EDT is soapier and not quite as sweet, there's more emphasis on the aldehydes, white flowers, and musks. By comparison, this EDP concentration of White Diamonds is deeper and heavier with substantially more emphasis on the yellow florals, especially the ylang-ylang, along with the amber and sandalwood. Fragrantica doesn't list it, but I am certain there is orange blossom in the blend. It's strong, long-wearing, and densely powdered. It reminds me of the massive floral perfumes from the 80s & 90s, but the cost of the formula is cheaper. I must say that the sandalwood base is impressively rendered for how inexpensive the perfume is. It has good progression. If you are the type of person who prefers the Chanel No. 5 EDP to the Chanel No. 5 EDT, you'll most likely prefer the White Diamonds EDP to the EDT. I'm more of a Chanel No. 5 EDT lady. I agree with Sassafras23, if you dislike the White Diamonds EDT, there's no guaranteeing you'll like this version more. It has the same soapy/alcohol offnotes. Ultimately the White Diamonds parfum is my preferred concentration. I think it has the best elements of both, with the most balance. 09/7/25 I let the EDP sit awhile. I am a week into September, and the chilly air is already blowing through the midwest. The shrill, soapy aspects of the opening have either tempered, or are otherwise less bothersome. The parfum is best, but I find myself liking White Diamonds EDT & EDP a lot more. I consider the EDP a good, inexpensive yellow floral. Suitable for chilly weather.

I vaguely remmeber but this was one of my aunt's fav scent, an old lady floral perfume loved by her. She used to have six pack (abs) when this was her signature.

yes I had this Edp in 100mL. I love GreyChypre's review. as a (gay) Guy of 6.2', half of a Twin with my brother Straight, I always w(h)ore female perfumes and started the 1980s being 23. and those are the perfumes I love. (my Brother wore the Gent's scents.) perhaps bc it was the Netherlands but I never heard complaints and I had an attitude of Fuck You anyway. and those specific perfumes also had that Poise. If I spritz on a Guy's scent I do not feel like myself. what a spectacular perfume this was, and is. it had a specific (the word that A.I. uses plentifold and in suffocating measure) truly LUMINOUS quality. either if it gave Light, offered Light (mind you I am NOT religious), soothed you in a Lighter athmosphere. but at the same time this was a rather present, full of Flowers, emanating, suffusing perfume. already the Edt was great but then the Edp was more to my liking. I both love Marilyn and Elizabeth. her entire perfume portfolio is smashing. this is a Classic, Aldehydic, Full Flowery, Musky and Mossy perfume that stands out but without the vulgarity (which I love !) of the most notorious Hookerperfumes of the 1980s: Cartier's Must & Panthère, Chanel's Coco & No5, Giorgio & Giorgio Beverly Hills Red, Fred Hayman 273, Gale Hayman's Beverly Hills, Beautiful & Knowing, Eternity & Obsession, Poison & Dune, Donna Karan Donna Karan, Bijan Beverly Hills etc. yet White Diamonds had some demureness (if a quasi-demureness). then Elizabeth's perfume Passion is also such a Fabulous Perfume. the specific feature of White Diamonds is her Champagne Fizz. you feel like a Million Bucks. (and with the Joaillerie of Elizabeth to back it all up,)

If the EDT is the only version of White Diamonds you have ever smelled, you are missing the point Carlos Benaim was making with this fragrance. The EDP is worlds apart from the EDT and miles better. So completely different! The opening has a beautiful citrus note I never got from the EDT. Bergamot is listed, but it smells more like yuzu to me. The lily opens with that smoked ham note I get from lily (same note as in Donna Karan Gold). What takes White Diamonds EDP to a higher plane is a yellow floral sweetness that creeps in to contrast with the yuzu/bergamot and smoked ham/lily notes. At first I thought it was honey, but it's the ylang ylang. I am surprised to find such a good ylang ylang in a perfume at this price...Honking spicy ylang ylang! The genius part is that despite all the heavy hitting florals this never becomes stuffy. Somehow there is SPACE in between the notes so you can breathe. Fresh and pollen sweet, not gourmand sweet. A rare thing these days. Edit: LSAUG is correct - the dusting powder is worth the buy. Plus powder is so retro (just be careful where you apply it!). The base notes blend together so well they leave you with a soft flower powdery dry down hours later. Eventually the patchouli comes out, beautiful not raw, blended with traces of the florals. If you are going by the EDT, you are missing the point of White Diamonds. The EDP is so much better it's like a different fragrance.

What gorgeousness! To my nose, a lighter and slightly greener version than the mini parfum. But substantially more rounded smelling than the edt and with a lovely vintage richness. I find the vegetal note (lily?) in the edt goes rank on me, while the parfum is absolutely ideal - rich with ylang ylang warmth. This is almost a cross between the two, but definitely leaning towards the parfum. Highly, highly recommended for vintage lovers. I want never to be without this or the parfum, both of which are highly satisfying and enveloping experiences. If you love Estee Lauder Beautiful, Givenchy Ysatis, or other classic floral/woody aldehydic fragrances, GO for it. This is luxurious, affordable time travel! Womanly wiles on a budget. Fragranced dreams.... Note: Aubousson Desirade is a distant cousin of this scent, and possibly created to capitalize on the popularity of Ystais (to which it is closer). It's not as long lasting, but as a spicy floriental it IS delightful. Just make sure you like nutmeg! I recommend White Diamonds first and Desirade second as perfect additions to your bargain boudoir wardrobe. :)

My initial impression is word for word the experience of SlavicPrincess7 below. I have developed such a love and appreciation for vintage perfumes that I almost never purchase new releases. My hopes for this didn’t line up well to what it turned out to be, upon first sniff. It was a tart, sparkling floral that smelled exactly as if I’d rubbed a Bounce dryer sheet on my inner elbow. It isn’t a bad thing, it just isn’t what I expected based on the notes listed and the reviews. I wish I’d have been lucky enough to be to experience the original formulations of many of these fragrances, I’m sure they were just as opulent and rich as many describe them to be. I’ll let this baby sit for a while and revisit it. Hopefully the fragrance will begin to unfold a bit, and the longevity improve over time. That said, this was $30 and easily beats out many designer perfumes being released today. It wasn’t a loss.

This is even better than the eau de toilette of White Diamonds. This is deeper, richer, woodier, muskier, mossier, and the ylang-ylang is more prominent. Goodness! This is the real deal. The eau de toilette is stunning, don't get me wrong. I love that stuff and it's more of the daytime White Diamonds. It's more floral, as in white florals (it may be white florals only and not yellow florals like the eau de parfum?), less ylang-ylang, more sparkling aldehydes. The eau de parfum... this just blows me away. I will have to try the parfum! But it looks like I will be stocking up on the eau de parfum! I'm saddened that it's harder to find than the eau de toilette but where there is a will there is a way, my friends. GET THIS! This is perfume crack! Thank you Carlos Benaim for this masterfully composed perfume!

Mum had this when it first came out and it was such a great smell. Didn't understand why the current perfume just smelled old and powdery. I couldn't get the florals. Kept aside for a few years and would periodically test it to no avail. Sometimes certain notes overpower my senses and I can't perceive the fragrance. Sometimes it takes years before there is a breakthrough. Had aImost given up and had an inkling to test it last night. Oh wow, I do like it now. Womanly floral fragrance. I don't have a scent memory anymore of what the original was like. But the current one is still beautiful and I look forward to wearing it more.

I love White Diamonds in all iterations. It’s such an elegant, comforting scent to me. The EDP is richer in the white and yellow florals and a bit less soapy/fresh than the EDT. It’s softer, and a bit more powdery. To me the yellow florals shine more in the EDP & pure perfume.
