White Diamonds Lustre

3/13/18 ***Update*** Was very happy to acquire this at a good price at an online fragrance boutique. This was a 2014 posthumous release created by the Master Perfumer Carlos Benheim the original creator of White Diamonds with Miss Taylor. He was well aware of her love of Narcissus, and used that flower as his inspiration point. This shares many notes of the original white diamonds, the additional notes in the top are pear and raspberry, the middle has orris root, and the bottom has vetiver. I'm quite certain Miss Taylor would have been pleased and would have adored wearing this scent. As with all the flankers it does a great job of creating something new from the bones of the adored and best selling white diamonds. The initial blast is sharp and citrus from the bergamot and mandarin orange. The pear and raspberry lend another sharp fruity angle that is very interesting as one typically gets citrus and peach notes in an ET fragrance. As it dries down I get the heady narcotic floral of the orange blossom and jasmine coupled with sweet, green, powdery and bitterness of the narcissus and orris root. I think the vetiver in the base gives this a dry mustiness, kind of like a dry white wine, coupled with a smoky dark woody chocolate note when paired with the amber and sandalwood. I have to say I am very much in love with this fragrance. This retains the essence of white diamonds very well, but also manages to give it a somewhat gourmand take. The base is a bit drier/mustier and yet sweeter than the original, but it is ultimately very similar once in that stage. I could see how this could be more appealing to a younger generation who may not be able to appreciate wearing white diamonds due to memories of another woman wearing it often or as a signature scent. It is a very,very good flanker, another masterpiece by Mr Beinheim for us to affordably wear! I hope the house of ET continues to speak to us from beyond the grave. ***Original***In my quest to collect all the ET fragrances this one is still a mystery to me, I have yet to smell! I guess I'm going to purchase blind online and give you all my review.

Dear Readers ♥, Since I always been a huge follower of E.T's fragrances, you know I had to give this new beauty a try , so I blind bought it and this what happened next. When I spritz some into realm of the air , I was not disappointed by it, I will admit, was nervous when E.T passed away yrs back and the new crew will be making generic cookie cutter fragrances since our Diva left this mortal coil. But a lovely surprised happened, this new beauty of White Diamond Lustre has the ultra sophisticated feminine magic in a scent that E.T's fragrances always embodied in a bottle. By itself in the air, its very fresh,fruity and light musk blend that felt like a silk caress from a nocturnal moon goddess and it reminded me of moonlighted romance scenarios. So this perfume is a win !. On me, Lustre smelled the same like in the bottle but with my chemistry it made all the notes become very warm but modestly soft. Im happy it lasted long enough and my chemistry didn't eat it up. So Im happy for the crew of E.T that they made this new romantic beauty in a bottle. It's definitely an Elizabeth Taylor style, rich, romantic, and ultra feminine but in a more soft and enchanting way. A beautiful gift for those who enjoy fruit with musk scents but with romantic softness to it. Bravo house of Elizabeth Taylor !

I just received this perfume for Valentines day and I love it! If you like the original then you will most likely like this. If you hate the original, you may want to give this one a chance, it lacks the skankiness that most people hated about White Diamonds. I am not so sure I would classify this as a modern version of the original, perhaps more of a warm weather version of the original, it still has that powdery old fashioned vibe to it, just cleaner. I rarely wear White Diamonds out of the house simply because , as much as I love it, the skank is very predominant on me. This one is exactly how I wished the other one smelled. Notable differences are sillage (much closer to the skin) and how long it lasts. I also prefer the base notes in this one more than the original (the sandalwood really grounds this for me) I find this to be a big , bold floral perfume and the florals and powder over power the fruit. It is a fruity floral in the same vein as Mackie (also with a strong raspberry note), not more modern fruity florals.

Beautiful,sexy,feminine,lingering,intoxicating, rad perfume. I'm a bit bummed there not more people who have heard about this fragrance or have worn it. My signuture is original White Diamond but I go back and forth between Lustre and original WD. This to me is like original WD wild yet still sophicated adult daughter. She feels a bit more playful. I wear it day and night and any season but if I had to pick I would say more night wearable and winter/spring. I smell narcissus in the beginning with a dance of raspberry and orange. The middle teases with jasmine, pear and droplets of bergamot. The base brings a addictive vetiver bitterness that beckons you into the drydown of a gorgeous musk with hints of amber all while keeping the starting excitement of sweet orange and tangy raspberry. Its name is suitable. It will envoke lust at the time leading to love. I could imagine this being worn by someone like Marylin Monroe on her honeymoon.

Got this little gem from my fiance's mother :) Not something i'd typically pick out for myself, but this actually REALLY surprised me! The first inital spray, I get the fruity notes right off the bat. (with a ''powdery'' essence in the background. However, that being said, this really isn't the typical ''fruity floral'' - this is unique, captivating, and simply enchanting. <3 There's something ''classic'' about it. I just tried this one at Macy's today. The bottle is the most beautiful cobalt color. It seems like a lighter version of the original White Diamonds. It's very similar, but definitely not as heavy. I could see myself wearing this. I really like it. I noticed that they carried it in a 3.3 oz. size or something like that. I never buy bottles that big. Hopefully they'll have a 1 or 1.7 oz. one. That would make me happy. Might have to pick this baby up!!

I tried this yesterday at sears and was shocked by how good it smelled. My great grandma always wore white diamonds and I hated it. This is a soft, delicious smell that is much younger but not cheap or silly. I would think this is best for someone from 18-45 with a fun style. The fruit is not too strong and the balance is good

Delightful and delicious, smells like the essence of J'Adore in a fruit jam or fruit oil. The raspberry lasts quite a bit as it delves into its white floral heart, and gets rather ambery on the drydown. Lasts for at least 6-8 hrs, works perfectly in warm weather to appreciate the floral-fruity profile. A worthwhile flanker.

I think this is a really nice memorial to Elizabeth Taylor! Her last perfume "violet Eyes" was her last before her death. I really like this idea. It is in memory of her & a memorial. Also, I think she would love this one. I can tell by the notes. This will be in my fragrance collection! We all miss you Elizabeth!

This is just so beautiful. Airy, juicy pear, one of my favourite notes, floating over a lovely white floral. Sweet without being sugary, with a classic complex feel while still being contemporary, and elegant and "expensive" smelling while being more accessible and everyday than its powerhouse older sister. Love.

love this fruity floral, ET White Diamond flanker. Rich and almost edible scent :). Great sillage and longevity. Beautiful purple easy to hold bottle. Great value I'm not a fan of Narcissus scents (Daffodils, Jonquils) and I don't notice it, so I haven't rated it as prominent as the voting shows.

This perfume smells like tuberose, even though that note isn't posted here. Similar scents include Minuit by Gloria Vanderbilt, Sunset Fantasy by Britney Spears, and Tease by Paris Hilton. It's a pretty adult scent for places where floral scents are appropriate. I'd wear it at night too.

I got the gift set for my birthday last year. The lotion and shower gel are very good quality. This perfume is one of my favorites. I will be repurchasing soon since I've used almost all of it. UPDATE: I repurchased the giftset. No one is selling them anymore. I got mine on clearance.

This perfume is soft, luminous and sensual. The purple/violet juice is an exquisite tribute to Elizabeth Taylor and should have had the "violet eyes" name IMO <3 I bought it today, marked down to 26$ on Amazon... hurry!

A lighter version of the original; very good flanker and a nice update. For those of you that don't like the original White Diamonds die to it's strength, try this one!

I've really changed my opinion of this, and find myself reaching for it often. It has a dry sandalwood underpinning that hints of incense in a way I like. I know there's fruit, but it doesn't come off as "fruity" to my nose. I also find it more dry than sweet, which gives it a clean feel for me. When I first got it I found the comparison to Passion here and may have been negatively influenced by it, or else I just needed time to appreciate the scent in its entirety. __________________ First wearing - as others mention I also get a hint of Passion in this, though I'm not sure why. I feel like it invokes what I dislike in Passion, a sour incense, but I can't trace that to the notes here. Maybe I'm smelling tart fruit to explain the sour part. Indeed the fruit is hitting me as very tart, not like the raspberry in White Diamonds en Rouge which I find sweeter and more pleasant. As it's drying down I'm getting the OG White Diamonds, a fragrance I love, so that is sitting easier. More time and testing needed. ------------------------------------------ Well, I've worn it more and am marking it a "like". The sour aspect isn't hitting me on a regular basis and I do like the blend of the other notes - pleasant. Guess it's growing on me. :)

I have tried almost all of the WD line and although I can find appreciation for them, they have never really been my kind of fragrance! I’ve given several away to a friend who loves the line. There’s always a bit of a powdery feel to all of them. I have a pretty big personal aversion to anything powdery. En Rouge is the most wearable for me. I am starting to be able to enjoy a few powdery scents if they’re done in a very specific way and not feel dry. That said, I feel a little different about this one. I think the amber, vetiver, and sandalwood in the base grounds this into a less suffocating scent for me. I do feel there’s a damp patchouli in there as well, but it’s not listed. I can see the original dna in this but it’s made warmer and sexier in my opinion. The powdery feeling is there but much more subtle to my nose than the OG. I definitely could wear this and enjoy it! It’s a shame it’s been discontinued, it’s one of the best ones in my humble opinion. My taste isn’t always mainstream, so unfortunately that happens to me often. I’m glad I was able to get my hands on a big 100ml bottle from an auction. This one is a winner!

I almost didn't buy WD Lustre for my collection because I already have WD Rouge. Raspberry is a strong note and while I do like it a lot I have quite a few perfumes w/ raspberry in them. That being said I'm a sucker for this line and in the end, I picked up a bottle. WD Lustre is a sweeter version of the original. I do pick up raspberry and pear, but they are more of a nuance. This is quite sugary so if you don't like super sweet perfumes this isn't something you should go for. This smells like they took out some of the aldehydes of the original and added a fruity flavored sugar. It has that smell of a really sweet fun hairspray from the 80's or the 90's but in a good way. I can see someone rocking this scent at an 80's costume party (me LOL) w/ big hair lots of bracelets going up the arm and a mini skirt. I also can see why the bottle is (I agree w/ @Konga5000) is purple, Lustre smells like fruity, sugary, candied iris and orange blossom. A less serious, less sophisticated version of the original. More suited for everyday life and fun to boot. Another winner from a great inexpensive line.

This opens quite fruity but very fresh and not overly sweet. The raspberry is the most prominent note but is done so beautifully, some raspberry notes in fragrance can be a sickly sweet synthetic juvenile monstrosity. The opening feels quite watery almost. The raspberry continues to linger as the lovely white florals emerge then comes a heavy musk and amber base. Of the five White Diamonds flankers I've tried so far, this one reminds me of the original the most but without any sparkling aldehydes or complexity. It feels very modernised but does still have that classic vibe likely due to it having the same perfumer as the original White Diamonds. I get a slight J'adore vibe from this. The longevity of this however is pathetic. It barely lasts 2 hours on me. I will however say that the Elizabeth Taylor fragrances released posthumously lack the complexity, intensity and timelessness of the ones released within her lifetime which I have tried (Passion, White Diamonds and the 'fragrant jewels' flankers).

I was a tad disappointed with this one. I have anticipated trying it for awhile now and got to try it on the weekend as I finally found a department store which had a tester for this scent. Gorgeous indigo blue glass bottle in the classic diamonds style. I was disappointed as I hoped it would be a modern version of white diamonds which kept the character of the original which I have heard that it does. For me this does not, the oakmoss is missing as is a lot of the original scent. This is a cooler scent, not a lot of warmth and at first spray I got bergamot, white florals and a sweet fruit I could not place. A sort of fizzy candy top note which is hard to describe? It was fresh and floral but a tad generic. It definitely has staying power though and later throughout the day it became a musky scent but I never found any white diamonds in there unfortunately. Nice but not nice enough to buy.

This smells very similar to white diamonds after the dry down, but it has a little sweetness to it. Someone said that it smells like white diamonds with a splash of passion, and I have to agree with that statement. Although, I can't tolerate passion, I can tolerate this and I love it! I actually like this better for date nights and evenings out. I tested it at a department store and it is wearing very nice on me. I'm going to add it to my lists of wants. Update: currently wearing this to bed and it is very comforting. It’s also sexy and reminds me of luxury and royal purple. I’m enjoying it and can’t wait to wear it again! Got a big 3.3 oz bottle so I’m def happy.

This perfume is good. It smells nice and I think that older people can appreciate this perfume than teenagers. But the longevity is great tho. I think it's better off as a hair fragrance because it makes your hair smell good and lasts for more or less 24 hours. The sillage is also great for the first 3-6 hours of wearing it but I personally think that after 10-12 hours, only the person wearing the perfume can smell it. I still think it's a perfect gift for older people like for ur grandma or mom because in my opinion they would really appreaciate this fragrance.

Yaaaaay, I finally found this one. Now my Elizabeth Taylor-parfume collection is complete. Well except "Passion," I don ́t like the notes and I don ́t wanna buy it....and of course the new one. This is a softer version of the original White Diamonds.I'd say more; floral with a bit of sharpness but still a bit sweet. I find this EDT to have medium lasting power on the skin, but stronger lasting power on clothes. It is different to anything else I have in my collection. I really like it and say it's worth a try.

WOW this is gorgeous! Ahhhh its so yummy! It is similar to nights very simikar in the sweet sultry powder puffiness but not identical in smell. Its just if u love one u will love the other! Wow! I didnt think this could happen twice! Lustre is shimmering in spring crispness and i know nights shimmers in hot summer heat. OMG they are sooooo good! These are definitely modern but not candy like. Sweet but not gourmand, its just perfection! I love this entire line ❤

Oh! This was a surprise. A massive bouqet of flowers that breathes luxury. The fruits are just there to support the opening so this is absolutely not a sweet, girly gourmand, don't get fooled by the fruits. I really like this one, it's in the same scent family like narciso rodriguez (The Black bottle) and also Kenneth Cole (Black). I have about 4 of Taylors perfumes, this one is my favorite.

I know i have smelled this before. It is identical to some fragrance I've worn before. I just cant put my finger on which fragrance this is... I looked at others opinions of reminds me of and nothing is ringing bells. And although this lustre reminds me of nights, it is not identical at all in notes but there is another i know that is identical to this. I wish i could remember!!!

When I sprayed ET Lustre, I immediately thought White Diamond + Passion for men, both of which I enjoy. Lustre is very smooth, warm and round. Makes me think of a fluffy dark purple color (maybe because of the bottle). Easy to wear and somewhat comforting. Great for an evening perfume but I'll actually wear this anytime.

Fruity, woody, with warm florals and sweet vanilla. Much better for every-day than the original, subtly sexy and a modern take on the OG.

Why is this fragrance suddenly way over priced!? $88 for a FB, no way!

For anyone who has liked the way that White Diamonds mellows after an hour of wear - and has disliked the first aldehydes that first simply knock you out... try White Diamonds Lustre. Since Covid 19 began, I have been using this time to really delve into finding some new perfume signatures that I feel are more economical but offer the same quality of wear that my more expensive perfumes offer. After wearing this almost a year, White Diamonds Lustre has been one of the best "finds" this year. ---------------- The reviews on this site convinced me to try this. My order arrived and I'm trying it for the first time. White Diamonds Lustre starts with the notes of my dearly beloved Eau Du Ciel - by Annick Goutal, however - this fades within 10 minutes and moves in another direction. WD Lustre is the softer, more introverted version of White Diamonds mixed with what smells like some of the alluring notes from ET's Passion perfume. This is extremely soft and intimate. This perfume wears very close to the body and hardly has any type of silage... this doesn't project very far. Still, it definitely has a fruity beckoning type quality to it. It is elegant and refined -- lady-like. This doesn't shout, it whispers. I like it, however, it is quite different from the perfumes that I normally reach to wear most often. Of course, you know me -- I typically like the stronger 1980's type perfumes, so this is a much different style of perfume than what I typically wear. I'm wearing this alongside ET's Passion - and yes, there are some notes which seem almost identically in common with Passion. I sprayed WDLuster twice, just to be able to register the notes better. Even doubling up Lustre, Passion is about twice as strong. This most closely smells like My Insolence, which I reviewed several years ago. This does not have the same notes or projection of Narcisso Rodriques... this is much softer, and much less noticeable. There are some notes in this which are not quite blending with my chemistry. It may tone down and blend better later, but for now - there are a few notes which seem to be clashing with my chemistry. The notes in Passion are much better with my skin chemistry. The reason that I ordered this -- I have loved the dry down of the original White Diamonds perfume by Elizabeth Taylor. I would suffer through the beginning aldehydes and alcohol smell, just to make it to the beautiful sweet fragrance that remained... about an hour into wearing it. I was hoping to have a similar effect to the Narcisso Rodriques (black bottle), but this has some annoying notes that are not setting up well with my chemistry. Time will tell, sometimes you have to wear a fragrance several hours to let the chemistry settle in more. Time will tell. Twenty minutes into wear, this is not appearing to be a good choice for me...it is wearing more like nauseatingly sweet hairspray, at this point. -------- Update: The hot water test proved that this is actually quite good with my chemistry. I really like the way this smells. It may be one of those that blends so well with my own chemistry that I can barely detect it on my own skin, but after taking a shower, it opened up the notes quite a bit - and this is LOVELY! Wow! Yes, this is VERY GOOD ON! This is soft, it is one that I like to wear when falling asleep - because it is comforting and gentle. This is like a really nice hug. Beautiful and elegant. I bought this as a set with the lotion. This lotion is nice, it is a good weight, not too heavy or sticky. Again, I'm impressed with the quality of Elizabeth Taylor's products. She left quite a fragrance legacy. Most of her line's perfumes have been a great value for the money and have offered a great sensory experience. If you haven't tried her perfumes and lotions, you should. ------------ Verdict - after wearing this for over 8 or so months - This is "old money" - there is a refinement to this that you don't find in a lot of today's perfume. It is not an "over-powering, highly stylized perfume - like the fragrances from the 80's" -- this is more calm, peaceful - but sensual. I really love this one, it is so well done. A complete surprise -- because I wasn't expecting this level of quality in this price range. One thing is for sure - Elizabeth Taylor had a genuine pure heart - and was wanting to bring the very best to people of all income levels. She is delivering a queen's perfume at the price that anyone could easily afford. This shows her compassion for humanity...and moves Elizabeth Taylor into a wonderful position in my mind. She is uplifting the human condition with this. Bringing a bit of heaven to earth! What a true GIFT this is! This is a signature worthy perfume, I simply LOVE IT! ----------------- This is a classic in the same way that Avon's Rare Pearls is. Both are decidedly "lady-like" - and very pretty and elegant. They are both comforting and huggable scents.

Have resisted this for years as a release after ET death. Hate to say I was right not to purchase, opens with a sickly generic fruits blast then settles into a fruity floral. A faint whiff on the original WD then it is gone !!! Elizabeth Taylor has left the building !! Not sure ET would of approved of this release. Just not up my street.

This is my least favorite of the Taylor line. It has a cheap tart note that lingers way too long for me to enjoy the dry down. Maybe the pear? I don’t have any pear fragrances so I’m going with that. It’s not the raspberries, raspberry alone does not smell like that. Could be the mixture of pear with raspberry. Not a good mix imo. Shame, this is the least classy, doesn’t seem to have that glamour the other flankers have where you can imagine Liz wearing her own fragrance. Doesn’t have the soapy clean scent. This has more of the Passion vibe. Like Passion lite. This is for people that can’t wear Passion but still want to, I suppose. This lasts forever, I’m going to have to shower to get this off.

There is something in this that reminds me of White Diamonds in a bad way. It starts off promising but dries down musty on me.

White Diamonds Lustre gives me a raging headache. 'On paper' I should love this. Unfortunately, I get none of the citrusy fruity top notes. I can detect Jasmine, but vetiver and amber are the prominent notes on my skin: Powdery Dry, Smoky, Earthy. I don't know what it is about vetiver and amber on my skin; however, when there are these 2 notes in the fragrance it seems to drown out everything else. There's something about this that reminds me of Passion on the dry down. I am one of the few that cannot stand Passion...It is migraine-inducing for me. Perhaps that is why it may trigger a strong dislike. I cannot quite put my finger on it. All I know is I cannot wear White Diamonds Lustre. I ended up giving it away.

Fragrance Review For White Diamonds Lustre By Elizabeth Taylor Top Notes Raspberry Pear Bergamot Mandarin Orange Middle Notes Orange Blossom Narcissus Jasmine Orris Root Base Notes Sandalwood Amber Musk Vetiver This fragrance was released 3 years after the death of Elizabeth Taylor (she died in 2011) and after the release of Violet Eyes which was the last fragrance composed and created during her lifetime. As such it has nothing in common with perfumes that we associate with Elizabeth Taylor like Passion, White Diamonds, Diamonds and Rubies and Black Pearls. I love all those scents but this one took some getting used to. My sister wears this and it's the only Liz Taylor perfume she likes because she calls them "old lady ish" and doesn't see how glamorous even White Diamonds can become if you give it a chance. I think this is nothing like White Diamonds but it does have an orange blossom, citrus and sandalwood which evoke the original. It's not a white floral but it's floral nevertheless. These flowers are more on the powdery and softer side. A sweet scent of jasmine and narcissus waft into the air and the orange blossom gives it a fresh and brilliant air. It smells expensive and glamorous but in a cleaner, less fussy and more wearable way than White Diamonds. The bottle is a bit similar in appearance to Violet Eyes but I don't think it wears anything like Violet Eyes. There is considerably fruitier scents in this one than Violet Eyes. As it opens you're caressed by citrus, a pear and a raspberry scent. Because of this raspberry it feels like the most youthful and sweetest girlish scent out of all the more mature Liz Taylor perfumes. That being said the fragrance develops into a sandalwood and musk which brings it back to the elegance and sophistication of the mature aspects of Liz Taylor. It's very interesting. It made me feel like this would have been worn by a very young Elizabeth Taylor, probably around the time she first got married to Nicky Hilton, or around the time she met Mike Todd. It's the fresh faced young star who graced the big screen opposite Montgomery Clift in A Place In The Sun, or the lovely bride in Father of the Bride. She can also smell like the movie she made with Katharine Hepburn Suddenly Last Summer. She has short hair, tight form fitting white halter top dresses and big bosoms. Yes this is the Liz that first won the hearts of millions. Longevity is an issue for me here. I would call this the weakest of the Liz Taylor perfumes and the most subtle. On my sister who is accustomed to lighter scents like the pathetically weak Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, this is a gorgeous powdery floral. My mother thinks this is a piece of sh* because she's a die hard fan of White Diamonds original parfum. On me it's like an elixir and potion that keeps getting me younger and somehow more glamorous, like getting a younger body but keeping an older woman's soul and intellect. So if you're not a fan of this line but would like to own at least one fragrance from the house of Elizabeth Taylor, and you like the notes of raspberry, citrus, and florals, along with light touches of musk this is for you then. I find it very delectable, fresh, airy and feminine, not quite powdery but like the most attractive young girl who has her whole life ahead of her and she knows it, already wears good perfumes and has started her own way in life, knowing that it's not just about fragrances or high fashion high end clothes and shoes, but like Liz Taylor, about talent, having guts, charisma, intelligence and personality. This is a girl who is about to get anything she wants.

White Diamonds + Passion + a touch of berry. Powdery in the flowery mids, on a strong earthy base. No dealing with the heavy-hitting White Diamonds top (though I guess I'm among the few who enjoy that WD blast). Here the top is strong but fruity-floral modernish. Then it transforms into a comforting haze and takes my mind back to some place calm and safe, yet it never smells like old perfume. I wonder who created this? It's well balanced and blended with I suppose iffy material, without off notes. Correspondencepersonal, below, references Guerlain's My Insolence and I can smell that. Guerlain's OG Insolence in EDP is a much better perfume, I think, and needn't be costly, so you might go there. For the Elizabeth Taylor completest, however, here we are with Lustre. Neither airy nor elegant, Lustre is rather hippychick, especially when the base sometimes gets thick, with a molecule I've smelled in other ET fragrances. Lustre is too rustic for nighttime, IMO. This is coastal bohemian Liz Taylor in 1965's Sandpiper. But displace the wet Big Sur location to the sunny dry dunes of outer Cape Cod. For a white floral with fruit, this perfume is driftwood dry! If you have a favorite baseless solifleur (violet or light jasmin) or berry, spray it over this, about 2 hours in. Marbert's Sun Spirit is an inexpensive and delightful non-surgery berry that coasts on the top of Lustre very nicely, adding some green to the vetiver and lightly reviving the indole. Or Jeanne en Provence Jasmin Secret. All said, a couple sprays from a 15 buck bottle, takes me on a trip, and the 2 hour long mid is evocative and effective, and can be prolonged, so thumbs up for an ET fragrance collection. As a standalone, try before you buy.

To my nose, this is a lighter & fresher version, than all the other White Diamonds series, & this one has a breezy quality as well. I was sure that it had lilacs or violets or powdery notes but I see none of those notes here, even If that is what I smell. It lasts for over 5+ hours on my skin & is mild to moderately projecting. A sort of soft & billowing & powdery scent & it's an easy scent to enjoy on a mild weather day. Smells like how you would think purple powder & grapes should smell like. The bottle matches the scent vibes very well. Summer Update: This works really well in the high heat & humidity of summer as well. I wore this yesterday at a summer annual picnic party outdoors & this gem kept me feeling fresh & clean in a soft & pretty way all day! And it kept me from feeling crabby in the heat. I would like to know who the perfumers/nose is for this lovely scent & they need to be included here too. Perfumer/Nose Update: Carlos Benaim is the perfumers on this as well! I watched a YouTube Video showing him being honored for this fragrance addition to the list of White Diamonds series & it was very heartwarming to watch. I also love White Diamonds classic, Red Door, Carolina Herrera classic & Flore, Contradiction & Polo green classic for men, (& my DH), & so many more! What a wonderful perfumes Carlos Benaim has brought us all! Thank You Mr Benaim! And what a prolific portfolio of classics & current faves, including YSL Libre, My Way, Armani Code, Flowerbomb, Pure Poison, & so many more gems! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! A random cheap buy. Thought I'd gift it to my mum as she liked the original Diamonds and wanted something lighter for hot days. Quite Disappointed. The formula is quite weak compared to her other scents. I get a lot of pear, and I'm not really a fan of pear, mixed with other fruits. Too fruity, not enough woody for me. UPDATE: All in all, it's an okay, non-cloying floral fruity, but too weak and basic smelling for me. Nothing about it stands out or is memorable. I bought Violet Eyes recently, and much prefer that. The giant bottle WDL comes in reminds me of a body spray or fragrance mist. Makes a nice clothing or hair scent, but I wouldn't call this a real "perfume". I highly doubt Ms Elizabeth Taylor would wear something like this! Update: Tried this after it being stuffed in the "probably won't wear it ever again-possible swap box". It's pleasant floral fruity, this time longevity seems better (perhaps I was anosmic to it before?). Powdery but not overpowering. I still wouldn't use it as a perfume per say, but a linen/room spray for when I'm craving such a scent. It's just too synthetic to my nose. Reminds me of a fruity hair spray or product I once owned.

This is a modern, sweet, beautiful white floral with fruits. There are only a few fruity floral that don't turn sour or bitter-sour on me but this doesn't. I'm not sure that when smelling it without knowing what it is, the fact that this is a flanker of WD would be obvious, however, the drydown is rather similar, but Lustre lacks that little bit heavy powdery feeling but has something instead, something a little bit" scratchy" that reminds me slighlty on 5th Avenue After Five by Elizabeth Arden. This note saves this perfume from being too light or easy to wear even if it's lighter and for some, it may be easier to wear as the original WD. After a few hours of wearing this became a skinscent on me, however, it is longlasting, but not a great sillage. On the other hand, the fragrance it trasfromed into after these few hours wouldn't really match with a huge sillage. As a skinscent, it's rather comforting and silent, nothing really outstanding but clean and pretty, a little bit soapy-clean, maybe. Perfect for wearing at home or where a clean, fresh laundry-scent is appropriate, but it can be worn in any season.

As a fan of all Elizabeth Taylors fragrances I knew that I would have to try this one and probably buy it. Well, I have and I did. In fact, I got the gift set as an early Mothers Day gift. The bottle is a deep purple color that looks cobalt until you hold it up to the light. At first spritz this fragrance is fruity but not cloying and the fruitiness stays throughout. Then, as if appearing from the mist in a garden, is the scent of the original and iconic White Diamonds. Rarely does a flanker contain the bones of the original but this one does. It might seem that this fruity update of an iconic masterpiece would be hard to accept but, shockingly, it is not. It's as if our dear girl has gotten a new party dress! It lasts a long time but not as long as the original. All ages owe it to themselves to give this a try.

Walmart finally has a tester, and I am amazed at how similar this release is to the original White Diamonds. The fruity aspect is very subdued on me and I'm still getting quite a lot of the exact white florals in the classic. Cobalt Blue might not be the correct color to fully represent this updated White Diamonds. I just know that it smells traditional but slightly newer than the original. From the first sniff I felt this to be a quality release, likely to catch on with it's intended fan base. If you are opposed to the big floral bouquet that is classic White Diamonds, look elsewhere.... possibly to the charming Violet Eyes. :D Because this one is about as modern as your Grandma in a spangly new necklace, minus her typical pearls. Rating = Four Stars, with good sillage and longevity for a new release!

I love this! It doesn't remind of White Diamonds the original at all because it's got that very sweet girly girl raspberry I love and enjoy smelling in my other perfumes. This is strictly a fruity floral. I smell the citrus opening with a realistic mandarin orange and a pear. The raspberry introduces the sweet floral smell that comes into play at the fragrance's middle phase. I smell narcissus and orange blossom. Fresh flowers. It's spring every time I smell this. It feels casual and light and it's easy to wear. You can wear this baby anywhere: to work at an office to work at a school, and as a scent for yourself. It doesn't offend anyone, it makes you want to be hugged and held closely and kissed. It's a bit on the romantic side soft and delicate girly. Beautiful.

Finally got to test this one today. I am a White Diamonds fan and was really looking forward to this. It starts out as a strong fruity floral. After about 30minutes a musky base with a whiff of the original white diamonds peeps through. I found this part of the fragrance a bit offputting. It's just a bit too musty and old for me. Then it finally settles into lighter version of the original White Diamonds - almost like a skinscent. The longevity is pretty huge but the projection is strangely moderate, or at least it is on me. The bottle itself looks and feels really budget. Such a shame. I'm not sure I'll buy this one. It seems like it's a pale version of White Diamonds. Why not just spritz the original very lightly and be done with it?

I am new to the fragrances of Elizabeth Taylor. The reviews here made me curious. So I bought "White Diamonds" & "White Diamonds Lustre". This one seems to be the younger, more modern sister of the Original. It has the creamy flowery base of the Original, but the first blast is more like the fragrances of today. A bit sweet, without the old fashioned soapy and/or powdery veil, and -in my opinion- a bit harsh. But not bad at all. When we move a few hours forward, Lustre starts to smell more and more like the Original. Or in geek terms: the base notes are very similar. So for everyone who fears the old lady-ish skanky-powdery-soapy start of the Original: go for this one.

(Take the damn raspberry off the notes pyramid. LOL) . No raspberry will be detected, ladies . That said : this is a sparkly lively FUN flanker that EVERYONE who loves cheapies should try! It's got better strength than most cheapies and better strength than most Elizabeth Taylors as well! The bottle nicely reflects what's inside . This is sweeter than the original White Diamonds , so there's that. I'm on my second bottle. Again: do not buy this if you think you're getting a raspberry scented EDT. Safe blind buy , I'd say . P.S. When the forum asks for "What smells like purple?" . THIS ! (purple with sparkles)

As described by all. White Diamonds with fruit and powder. Nicer than you think it would be ! Safe blind buy ONLY if you dig the entire Elizabeth Taylor line in general. EDIT: had this on for 4 hours-- still getting whiffs...this is stronger than you think ! P.S. Liking this more and more as the night goes on ! P.S.S. And it's making me want to seek out the hardest to locate Elizabeth Taylor fragrance : White Diamond Nights . -------------------------------EDIT---------------------------------------------- In the 2 days that I have been wearing this-- it's gone to the top of one of my favorites !!

Nice, universally safe. Unlike the original in that people feel strongly in either direction. Update: I tried this again and found it to be 60% White Diamonds and 40% Oscar by Oscar de la Renta. Still better than White Diamonds, but still a little harsh. My favorite E.T. frag is Sparkling White Diamonds. Now that I have this, and after smelling it on clothing, I find it to be similar to Insolence, C'est La Vie, or even the stodgy but lush Desirade by Aubusson.

I'm really enjoying this. White diamonds isn't at all my thing, and fruity florals usually aren't..I find most of them to be sharp, screeching, and shampoo-like. this is fruity and sweet, but not to the extreme. Diamonds and rubies for cool weather...white diamonds lustre for warm daytime. As an aside..my evening perfume is vintage Organza..and occasionally amarige.
