Mémoire de Daisen In

Like another reviewer below, I have to disagree with anybody who says this is ordinary. Far from it! I was just sniffing roses yesterday in a huge award-winning rose garden, and this is about as close to an actual rose as I have ever smelled. It’s a fresh magenta, sweet rose, with both jammy and bright, citrusy aspects—much like many varieties of actual roses. There is some fresh peony to start that dissipates and becomes replaced with a well-blended tea note. A squeeze of lime lends a green-tinted tang. No awful, unbalanced currant or currant leaf note to be found— a tiresome note that really has no place in a rose garden and seems to be used to create an impressionistic garden effect but that doesn’t actually smell like any rose I have ever laid my nose on—and I have smelled hundreds upon hundreds of varieties. I find the scent of intense currant and intense patchouli offensive and have never found any rose garden to smell like them. Those notes are garishly overdone in so many rose perfumes, but not here. Let me reiterate: THIS is an actual rose blossom—not a conceptual one. It’s not a pretend rose garden and does not include the scent of the bush, leaves and stems nor the soil it grows in. This is the kind of voluminous rose that I can picture growing in a British aristocrat’s rose garden. Impeccably pretty! $295 for 100ml is a splurge. Wish they had 50ml bottles for half the price. In any case this rose is certainly up there with the absolute best of true rose perfumes in existence. I may cave in and buy it. TBD!

I love this one! I have to disagree with some comments below saying this is generic. It isn’t. But each brand has their take on a certain “movement” in the fragrance world, and I happen to adore this one. I opens with a very light peony and some citrus. Not overbearing, or sharp. Suuuuuper smooth and just a tiny bit of sweetness. Once it settles, the most amazing tea note is making its way in and OH MY GOD do I love that. It’s definitely present, it makes itself known, but it isn’t loud or screechy. This is blended to perfection! The tea note for me lasts about 6-8 hours before it settles into the final stage of dry down and only then do I get a slight resemblance to Delina La Rose. This one is worth testing if you enjoy your peony and tea notes. Personally, the longevity and projection on me is 10/10. Will for sure get a FB asap

I get loads of conflict between my nose and my brain when wearing this scent. I can't get passed the idea that it's reminiscent of something from women's range from MFK. Nonetheless, it still smells million times better. It's a sophisticated floral with tea and nutmeg combo framed with freshly blooming peonies. Very flirty yet not childish. On the femininity spectrum it's rather an upscale fragrance that is of veeery high quality. Ladies wearing Louboutins on their days off come in mind :) Overall very interesting house. Their fragrances don't reveal themselves upon the first spray, you really need to wear it for a week or so to truly get what's going on. Superior blends with remarkable longevity across the range.

Elegant, beautiful, masterfully blended and.... Gold Fluidity by Kurkdjian younger sister. Very similar, executed with more precision. Wife loves Fluidity Gold, I prefer this.

Iso E AND ambroxan? No, thanks! Smells like one of those mass marketed rose scents to me. Nothing special.

I had 7 Ella K fragrances in my collection, all blind buys and I love or at least like very much all of them...So when I got a good discount code I blind bought this one too. Of all my Ella K`s this has the weakest performance and projection on my skin. Nevertheless, I like it because it is elegant and refined in a very restrained way. It starts with tart citruses, which are as usually very fleeting, and evolves to this lovely fresh rose-tea mix. From the ,,reminds me of" cathegory I only know and have Eau Rose EdP from Diptyque in my collection and for me there really is a resemblance between these two. I don`t get the other notes listed very clear, maybe because the projection is so weak that I have to nearly press my nose to my skin to get a whiff of the scent. This would be the fragrance of an distinguished english lady drinking her (very expensive) tea from her (equally expensive) white porcelain teacups handpainted with little pink rosebuds. Is this a safe blind buy? Definitely no if you (like me) love ore like strong fragrances with a good projection and also because of the price-point for a fragrance that, while delicate, feminine and elegant, is not so unique and lasts at best 7 hours on my skin with an intimate projection.

Really watery, subtle and gentle. Tad too quiet for me (at least today). I'll try and do as advised earlier in comments and wear it a couple of days and then make my final call on this one. Sample from discovery set will do just fine for that. It's a lovely blend, fresh, delicate: historic, bushy rose with whiffs of florals and pleasant acidity (but very mild one). I get no fruityness. To me, this one talks in whispers and is really lovely, but too quiet for everyday hubbub in the city. Gardening season is about to start, maybe I'll become my perfect companion for rainy-days-plucking-weeds in my beds. It's without a doubt an elegant fragrance. FB worthy? I don't know yet. EDIT: I can still smell it on my skin, 24 hours after spraying. So there's a great potential regarding longevity on certain skin types...

I like it. It is substle, pink floral. It is an interesting combination of flowers and tangerine. I find it very crowd-pleasing. You notice iso-e in the background and it just makes you to sniff and Think more of your scent. In my opinion, this is a grown-up uptake upon Juicy Couture fragrances, and I like it. However, for 195€/70 ml, I can still use Juicy C. layered with Iso-E myself for less than the asked price.

Very lovely scent of peonies, roses and tea. Calming and elegant, despite being a bit generic. I agree, it is a relative of Delina La Rosee, Lust in Paradise, Pivoine Shizou, Floraiku Just a Rose, Chloe, etc.. Just a bit more subtle than some of those and less musky or litchi infused.

This is a fresh green rose scent, reminiscent of eau rose, dutches rose, lust in paradise etc Not the same but it falls in the same category. Very feminine pink floral fragrance, a little tart but not overly. It wears discretely on the skin which makes it work appropriate.

The perfect house scent? My first Ella K sample. I wanted to try something summer-appropriate and leave Ella K's heavier compositions until autumn/winter. This here is soft, rosy, peony, slightly aquatic and fruity, yet slightly powdery, sits very close to skin and unless you overspray, it will probably be unnoticeable. Understated, but something is happening there, it's not really that boring. Although it first made me think of EDTs from the late 90s/beginning 00s from the brand The Healing Garden. The fruity, aquatic tea, very light, invigorating, optimistic. It makes you want to breathe it in. At times it gives me whiffs of something similar to EM Molecule + Tea, only EM is way more linear, this here has more fruit and flowers, but that Iso E Super plus tea combo is very specific. This is a lovely fragrance but so soft I need to put my nose really close to my skin to pick it up and I really don't like that, I prefer my scents to radiate a little. On skin I get zero similarity to Stella. In the end, I think this is actually a wonderful house scent. I would love my house to smell like this, very relaxing.

Starts off as a fresh, natural rose and cedarwood. Reminds me a lot of Dom Rosa by the same perfumer but minus the sour grapefruit and the fizziness. After some hours the fragrance becomes more and more powdery. I detect sandalwood and clean musk. It is a very different fragrance in the late dry down so sample on skin before buying! Excellent lasting power, 8h+.

A good citrus culinary start reminiscent of lemon balm together with nutmeg. It goes from fresh, fruity with roses, through generic floral scents of body wash and ends clean, soapy, between cedar and ambroxan. I liked it, just the first 5 minutes.

I just get a boring rose perfume, very similar to Stella, of higher quality though. I don’t get peonies much. Go for Holy Peony instead or at least Pivoine Suzhou, those are more exciting.

This smells too much like toilet freshener to me. Really sharp florals.

I was expecting something along the lines of Eau Rose EDT by Dyptique but after multiples wears, Memoire de Daisen just smells like fresh celery on my skin, and I know it's the combination of citruses, nutmeg and iso e super giving that effect. I happen to like celery so it's fine, but I can't say this would be my first choice for a rose perfume.

i might just as well be the first to review. This is a very subtle rose with peony with a dash of tangerine and a good dollop of Iso E Super. I have a travel spray that I will use with pleasure, but it's not a special fragrance by any means or at least not enough for me to be purchasing a full bottle.

Blind smelling this on a blotter, it's a boozy rose. There are herbal/medicinal facets as well as a sweet (but not warm) undertone. Leans feminine and mature. Doesn't generate affection, in my opinion.

More tangerine than rose, in my experience. If you are considering Ormonde Jayne’s Damask or Ella K’s Daisen In, I would choose the latter. It feels so much more natural, warmer, and more feminine.

I get a nice bergamot and tea, followed by sparkling rose and peony with strong musk and Iso E super base. After a while, it starts to remind me of Mancera Roses Musk.

Sweet floral blend. It's peony, plums, roses, and tea with some citrus musk, and benzoin. It's an afternoon kind of blend in a classic modern take. Cute.

Gorgeous fresh rose scent! This is very very similar to Monday Rose by Banana Republic, which is a much cheaper alternative.

Sweet rose. Plum and Tea notes give soft powdery and stickiness.
