Pretty Petals

So far, Pretty Petals is my fifth blind buy of an Ellen Tracy perfume without disappointment. An alluring and sensual fragrance, Pretty Petals doesn't hold many notes, but the few it does blend well to create a warm lemony feel that lasts for a few hours. I almost get a tea-like sense of bergamot, but it's not in the notes. This is an office-friendly perfume, a daytime scent, one that couldn't possible offend a soul. Ellen Tracy makes fragrances I find at my local TJMaxx/Marshalls at under 10USD, which is quite the bargain for a scent that I really enjoy. Moroccan Rose, responsible for its citrus opening and powdery quality; Amber giving it warmth; Jasmine lending an animalic narcotic feel; and Musk deepening this fragrance just enough to give it oomph without darkness. Soon after lightly sweetened florals barely there bounce to the surface intermittently occasionally. I compare Ellen Tracy perfumes to any department store fragrances with their quality. The bottle of the EdP is embossed with colorful flowers and the name instead of a sticker label. It's a heavy, chunky, rectangular piece, easy to hold and pretty to display. A good year-round scent for all ages. Lasts for quite a few hours with good sillage. A definite good buy for a few bucks.

I didn't like this at first then put it away. I tried it again and fell in love with it. What I don't like is the initial blast, but when it settles down it is divine. I wore it to church and kept smelling this lovely beautiful scent...I looked to the lady next to me and was going to ask her what she had on--but I realized it was me I smelled, lol this happens to me sometimes when I can't recognize my own scent. I do have Miss Dior Cherie and see the similarities. I think I will pick up another of these for a backup if I see it again at TJMax or Marshalls; it's so cheap too. I can also spray this with abandon rather than using my Cherie which I can use on special occasions. It's sweet, flowery, sophisticated and very girly. My advice is to wait for the drydown if you don't like the initial blast. Sillage and longevity is moderate.

For me, this is one of the most powerhouse fragrances I have ever tried. I absolutely love it but it is nothing like I would have thought it would be judging from the name and packaging. I was expecting something light and breezy. I think of it as a nighttime garden where everything is stronger -- and sexier. I wore it to work once and one of my coworkers exclaimed "I smell incense". I have fragrances that I can wear anywhere and then I have fragrances that may be too strong and may offend others so I just wear them at home. This is my guilty-pleasure wear around the house, spritz my pillows and blankets and use as room spray fragrance that guarantees pleasant dreams. For the fabulous price I paid at TJ Maxx, I purchased a back-up bottle so I never run out.

I read all the reviews of Ellen Tracy's Pretty Petals and I had to try it. The description of this perfume is right in it's name... PRETTY! The amber makes it a warm beautiful floral scent that really makes you feel girly and ... Pretty... After first applying the fume I walked by my Husband and he stopped me in my tracks and asked me what I was wearing.. I took him to my perfumes and handed him the gorgeous floral painted bottle and he sniffed it again and asked me what that costed cause it smells to amazing to be a cheapy ... when I told him I only gave $10 for it he just couldn't believe it.. this really is an amazing fragrance for the price.. I'll be keeping this in my wardrobe

I picked this one up at Marshalls for a steal of $7 for a 3.4 oz bottle. The fragrance is much like a fruit salad. It's bright, cheerful, and fruity. There is a fair amount of sweetness to the scent. The floral notes offset the fruit slightly enough to make it feel less like a body spray. With that said, I absolutely loved this one. You definitely have to be in the mood to wear it because it's very fruity and sweet, but it's an uplifting, happy fragrance. I sold my bottle awhile ago, and I regret it. It felt well-made considering the budget price tag, and it lasted pretty well throughout the day.

My what a hidden gem.. The bottle played a mind trick on me.. I've had this for a while and thought I didnt like after first trying.. Thought I detected a green note (which I hate!) Then after getting and falling in love with Miss Doir Cherie, I saw the comparisons to this one.. Dragged this out of storage and Surprise.. Must of been the green tinged yellow box that had me imagining the green note cause I sure dont find it now.. The only other Ellen Tracy that I like is Imagine so maybe I started off expecting the worst also.. Sillage stayed pretty close to the skin, but lasted over 6 hrs on me..

I 100% agree with previous reviews - it really is a dupe for the 2005 Miss Dior Cherie version and a very good one if I might add. I am wearing it today and received a lot of compliments by colleagues already. Which is nice because of 2 things: 1. Pretty Petals smells pretty - Check. 2. The scent fills the room (apparently) but does so without being too much! Sillage - Check. Try it out if you see it or better - buy it! Asap! The bottle is really pretty too and has a good sprayer. Longevity - sprayed it on this morning at 9am and still smell it :) Winner!

Bought this as a blind buy for 8 dollars at Marshalls and I'm glad I did. Mmmmmm - Pretty Petals. The fragrance is its name. It"s a nice lightly sweet floral that's perfect for spring and summer or year round if you live in Florida USA or any other year round hot climate location. Smells like a delicious, lightly sweet field of flowers. Good longevity, about 5 to 6 hours. Siliage is about arms length. Should go back and buy a few more for Christmas giftlng.

I absolutely love MDC I have a little left and I am trying to get my hands on anything that smells like it. This does smell like MDC without the dept. I still love it though. I can say I wear it once a week just wish it had more staying power on me. I wear Love Notes by Ellen Tracy and that stays all day and night I have to take a shower to get it off lol. I would buy this again though seeing it's a good price and my bottle is already half way gone.

I own Pretty Petals and Patou Forever. I'm finding this to smell quite like Patou Forever, except the Patou has a darker deeper smell. More amber maybe? Or the rose? Did a side by side wrist test. Both are really terrific fruit/florals though. Very pleased I have this Pretty Petals, the best of all the Ellen Tracy scents IMO.

Don't sleep on this fragrance. The packaging is very deceitful. It is not your daughter's perfume. While at TJMaxx I found a bottle for $6. I sprayed it on my arm and thought it was a typical scent. Like always as time progressed it turned into a beautiful fragrance. I went back to get a bottle. I love it.

To me this goes on really strong! But that's saying a lot, because I usually can barely smell perfume. The dry down is very very nice though. Kind of lemony, kind of floral. I'm buying a second bottle!

Not sure what year this came out, but its definitely Miss Dior Cherie 2005 reincarnated with different notes. Love, love, love...and thank you guys for the reviews, as it was a blind buy.

Hello! Just had to let you know that I found the large bottle of Pretty Petals today at T.J. Max and Marshalls for $7.99. Have a lovely day!

The first thing you should know is that if your bottle does not look exactly like this picture....you have a flanker. Pretty Petals has several and the bottles do not actually have the flanker name on them. The bottle simply says "Pretty Petals" on it. Even on the back or bottom of the bottle. The bottles are the same shape and everything. The scents inside are quite different. The boxes will have a designation on the back that will tell you in small lettering which flanker it is. I bought a yellow boxed version that is the warm embrace flanker, it is nice but definitely a warm floral that is in no way similar to this fruity scent. I wish that Ellen Tracy packaging was more clear in this regard. Anyway, this is a lovely scent. This fits the bill when I am looking for a spring or summer sweet scent that is not floral and not tropical. Sometimes I want to smell fruity and sweet and girly....but do not want to stray into my fall or winter territory. This is where I go. A little on the fruit salad side but in the best way. A summer gourmand? Not my every day fragrance at all, but it has a place in my collection for days when I am feeling a very specific vibe and for the price you really can not beat it. It really does bear a resemblance to Miss Dior Cherie, though not an exact dupe for me it is close enough to evoke the memory.

Pretty Petals reminds me of walking into a gift shop, the kind you find in a quaint town in upstate New York, or perhaps Bar Harbor. The kind that sells Vera Bradley bags and handmade soap. The gift shop may even double as a florist shop. In other words, Pretty Petals is a mix of potpourri, dried flowers, candles, and various scented skincare products. It does smell a bit cheap to me, and I wouldn't wear it out and about much, but I do find myself craving it as a home scent every once in awhile. I suppose it takes me back to the family vacations of my childhood and perusing gift shops with my mother. At the end of the day, this is a product of the notorious Palm Beach Beaute, with offices in Delray Beach, Florida and manufacturing in New Jersey. Many of these straight to Marshalls juices run through them. Ellen Tracy, Adrienne Vittadini, Judith Leiber. Everything cheap and never fit to see a department store shelf. I'm from NJ, and I've lived in Gulf Stream, Florida, just outside Delray Beach. I suspect a mob money laundry when I smell one. PS - I also own Adrienne Vittadini Amore, and the synthetic notes are very similar, quite recognizable as products of the same manufacturer.

This... is interesting... The thing about Pretty Petals is it smells initially like fermenting fruit or something that has gone rancid. At first I thought I had gotten an expired bottle but then realized it's supposed to smell like that. But it does settle down to a pretty decent fruity floral, empasis on the fruity. One thing about it is it really depends on your body chemistry. I know that pretty much goes without saying for all fragrances, but this one especially. Personally, I like it alot, but I can see how someone wouldn't. It's not what one would call an "easy" fragrance that's gonna please everybody; it is kind of polarizing. I think it's the tartness of the initial blast that puts people off. What I can say is it does not smell cheap. There is a complexity to it and it does last long. Great for work and church. The bottle is ADORABLE- one of my favorites. And for what you're getting the price can't be beat. Eight dollars at Marshalls. For such a low price it's safe to blind buy. Give it a try! You might be pleasantly surprised.

Reviewing the body mist. Peach is the dominant note for me. I hardly pick anything else up. Pretty Petals is a fruity fragrance but not like fresh sparkling fruits. There was something familiar about it when I first sniffed it, like something I smelled long ago. A bit nostalgic, a bit old fashioned. I don’t mean this in any negative way, only that there is a certain peach note that I associate with perfumes from past decades. Now seeing it compared to Miss Dior Cherie, I realize that’s probably why it smells familiar, though I wouldn’t say it’s an exact dupe. Not bad at all, but not really my type of scent. (Miss Dior Cherie isn’t either.) It also isn’t the kind of smell I was expecting from the name and bottle. I don’t get any floral nuances from this. I don’t know if it might be a little different from the EDP.

This is a fun one! I, too, am one of the many who purchased this fragrance at Marshall's for a remarkable $8. Aside from the fact that the bottle looks like Barbie threw up on it, I also find this similar to Miss Dior Cherie. (I was also impressed by the pleasing weight of the bottle.) I think it is far more similar to the patchouli-and-strawberry reformulation than to the pre-2005 buttered popcorn formula, for one obvious reason... This fragrance has no popcorn note. For the vast majority of the time I wore this fragrance today, I smelled mainly tart raspberry. As I get farther into the dry-down, that same smell starts to take on a hairspray quality. I'm not mad about it though! For now, I enjoy the simplicity of this fragrance, and I think it will be great for the spring and summer.

I got this fragrance as a blind buy based on the reviews here. I have smelt the pre-formulated version of Miss Dior Cherie quite a few times years ago when it was in a local chemist. Yes, I see the resemblance of MDC. On initial spray is a blast of syrupy blackberry, rose and peach. Then these make way to a warmer base of Amber, followed by vanilla. It is nice and it draws compliments as my partner asked me if I was wearing Wish Chopard? (A perfume he likes. Anything he thinks to his nose smells like Wish means it is good......lol. Don't worry it doesn't smell like Wish :-).) It's not a stand out perfume and I prefer other fruity perfumes like Yves Saint Laurent- In Love again. Not sure if I will repurchase but it is nice to have for the time being.

After much super-sleuthing, I managed to contact a marketing director for Ellen Tracy. The full description she sent me: "Ellen Tracy Pretty Petals is a new fragrance that debuted in 2012 in TJ Maxx, Marshalls and several fragrance websites like FragranceNet, etc. It is a high quality fragrance at a very affordable price – it has not been discontinued. Pretty Petals is a lively, fruity-floral bouquet with a subtle sensuality and fruity freshness. It is punctuated with very appealing, mouthwatering notes like white peach water, Moroccan rose and succulent blackberry. Vanilla absolute, Night Blooming Jasmine and rich amber envelops the scent creating a delightful and sparkling fragrance."

I have the new made in china version. Its fruity and bright then disappears quickly, moments after the pretty opening. The dry down is so light, no stand out notes, and nothing good. More like a very very cheap body spray. Overpriced at Burlington 16.95 was way too much. This is a 5 dollar quick refresher scent and it only refreshes for a moment. So i wouldn't waste my money, had i known how bad this really is i would have passed. Its definitely not a perfume. I'll try it again in the winter, maybe thats the sweet spot? Well, it's winter. It's smells good but it's barely there. It doesn't last, doesn't develop, doesn't trail, it's basically a quick dissolving air freshener 😒

I purchased three different Ellen Tracy perfumes the other day. I am fairly certain that they are the newest formulations. Pretty Petals smells, to me, like some kind of sugary, tart, fruity candy. Pretty and fun for summer wear. A skin scent almost immediately but I have been wearing this fragrance for 3 hours and it's still present on my skin. The bottle and label are very cheap looking but hey it was a $10.00 fragrance purchase. I think this is a great fragrance for a teen or anyone young at heart who would enjoy a summer fragrance with a very different, out of the ordinary vibe!

I got the made in USA version of this perfume and it still fades to a nice skin scent in about 2 hours... I haven't tested it on clothing yet so will update. I'm not sure why there is no patchouli listed because the drydown is mostly patchouli, like Coco Mademoiselle for beginners. It starts out strong and bright with citrus, peach and flowers, not bad for the affordable price. Pretty Petals is more mature than the bottle let's on... I haven't smelled the Dior cherie so can't confirm if this is a dupe Note: I bought the USA bottle from fragranceNet.com : )

This is a super sweet blackberry peach rush. If you like bright, happy, fruity scents, you should try it! This perfume manages to be bright and fresh without citrus. Somehow, despite its intense sweetness, it has an airy quality, to my nose. Medium longevity, about 4-5 hrs. And good sillage. I think it is a mood lifter. I really craved this over the summer when it was way too hot and anything too musky or balsamic felt suffocating. It is simple, sweet, airy, fruity and fresh. I peeled off the Brady Bunch label so it looks kind of anonymously elegant now.

This is my little sister's scent. :o) While it's clearly based on Miss Dior Cherie, it lacks the personality and the depth, like a wax figure compared to the real thing. It's just a pretty little drug store scent. Nothing fancy, but it gets compliments and it projects and lasts a good long while. For 7 bucks, there's nothing to complain about. It's candyish, but the sweetness is tempered by musk and a tangy bite of nectarine. It's playful, but not as juvenile as the bottle might suggest.

I like this! I think it is a very feminine fragrance. To my nose, it is a musky-floral--just perfect for times when there is a bit of a cold snap in the air. Gardenia is not listed above as one of the notes, but when I spray this--I get a gardenia-jasmine-ish, sort of blast. This is a feel good fragrance for me. It has nice longevity and decent sillage; and, the price point is just wonderful. This was a blind buy--and I even received a compliment from a coworker.

Because I really love all of my previous Ellen Tracy purchases (Bronze, ET, Tracy, Ellen), I had no problem blind-buying this one. I agree with the pineapple note - the initial blast is like a glass of syrupy pineapple juice - but based on its name, I was expecting something fresh and light, like flower petals blowing in a summer breeze. I don't dislike it and I will use it up, but won't repurchase. Just too much of a fruit component for me.

I got a bottle of this for $6 at TJ Maxx the other day. I wasn't expecting much based on the low price and the immature-looking packaging, but this perfume surprised me. It starts off smelling like pineapple, then it dries down to a clean, soapy floral. Pretty strong too! It's a little sweeter and fruitier than my usual, but I like it for summer.

On the initial spray, I get a blast of juicy, candy-like fruit, very much like syrupy pineapple packed with maraschino cherries, combined with rose. It then dries down to a soft, sweet, feminine fruity floral - pretty. And it lasts! I'm so glad to see this fragrance listed on fragrantica. Thank you for doing that detective work TibbieMom!

100% Miss Dior Cherie's single white female bff! She's trying so hard to be MDC but here She's less complex and yet more complicated in her rendition. Pretty petals is all in all a nice dupe not as refined but for $7.99 a 2.5fl oz bottle who is complaining! I like it a little does go a long way as sillage is enormous on me!

This was a completely blind buy because I couldn't resist the $4 price tag at Big Lots (and it was the last one). I am so glad I got this on a whim because it smells heavenly. The packaging is very girlish and young looking but it's a lovely scent that can be worn by all ages.

I purchased this as a blind buy at TJMaxx. A 2.5oz bottle for $7.99. It does smell sweet and fruity but not overpowering. Ive never smelled the Miss Dior Cherie but I really like this on. Definitely does not smell cheap and the bottle is adorable. A keeper.

Light fruit, but rose and vanilla last until it fades away. Soft and feminine. If you wear scent to bed, this one is delightful. Uncomplicated. Suitable for young girl and office appropriate. Longevity is about 2 hours and sillage is intimate.

strong fruit, very little floral. Makes me wonder at the name. It is very sweet, almost overwhelming. So cheap, though - I got it for $9.99 at Ross. And the bottle looks great on my dresser, so I'm not too disappointed.

Couldn't resist buying it, as it was only $9.99 at TJMaxx. On my skin, it smells EXACTLY like Miss Dior Cherie. I'm so excited to have found this- I've been missing MDC soooo much since it being discontinued!

I like this one more and more every time I wear it. This is one of the best budget fruity perfumes I have tried ($7, TJMaxx). It isn't sharp or overly sweet. It is light enough to be great for summer but with depth. Not as juvenile as you would judge based on the bottle alone. There are lots of complaints about the bottle but if you peel the flowery sticker off, it looks much more elegant.

A synthetic floral. I get that boosty strawberry note that reminds me of Miss Dior Cherie. In the dry down a bit fruitier. But it quickly becomes a skin scent within 15-30 minutes.It is a cheap fragrance with a glass bottle with cheap plastic flower stickers on. Mine is also the made in China version. Dont know if that makes a difference???

I can see how people think this smells like rotting fruit.... lol.... but I honestly don't mind it. I blind bought this for a deal.... Having the original Miss Dior Cherie has always been a dream of mine... haha... I've never even smelled it! So I thought I'd try this since I enjoy Ellen Tracy's Love Notes. This is a generic, but somewhat unique floral-fruit. It's inoffensive and appears quality in terms of lasting power and sillage. It's musky, so I can see where it may give off the rotten fruit vibe. lol... I like it enough to be glad I tried it. I can't really pick out any particular note... It's more an overall scent. It actually smells like a candle more than a perfume... like an air freshener-- so I def agree with those that say this is a "safe" scent for daytime. Ok, this is really long lasting, and kinda bothering me. Haha. Very meh and kinda old lady. Sometimes if I don't LOVE a perfume, I like it to last about 4 hours. Haha. Maybe I'll layer it with something deeper like Hanae Mori to give it more ooomph, and more of a gourmand edge.

Purchased it for ten dollars, tried it for awhile, ended up donating it to charity. I found it to be a very sweet, fruity perfume, not much development, not much projection or silage. Has a vague similarity, not to MDC (surely you jest!) but to the undertones of classic BBW or celeb: syrupy fruit+generic vanilla. I don't expect my review to be popular, but please don't vote it out of existence, as some folks might want a heads up from someone who did NOT like the fragrance. It has a kind of pleasant industrial odorant vibe to it, like air wafting through a department store. I do not get amber, and very little florals, mostly a kind of floral bouquet blast that briefly wrestles the fruit cocktail but loses. I have and like other Ellen Tracy perfumes.

Sometimes cheap perfume smells amazing. Sometimes cheap perfume smells, well, cheap. I got a huge bottle of this for $8, and it smells like I paid $8. The scent is heavy and plasticky. It is a very intense fragrance. I had to wash it off, and even after extensive soap and water action I could still smell it. This is a scent that gives me a headache. I'm not sure why the scent is called "Pretty Petals," as I don't smell florals at all. Instead, this is an intense fruit fragrance that smells a bit rotten. I like almost all fruity fragrances, but this was too much for me. It's a shame, because the bottle is really cute, a much higher quality bottle than I expect for a bargain perfume.

It gives me a headache, and I see that a few others below have experienced the same. I like how fresh the opening is, but as you wear it there's a strange undertone that emerges. I can only describe it as that weird funky smell that dollar store fragrances have. It smells cheap. I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan at all... I found that it lasted rather long, but that's probably because I couldn't wait to get it off me.

This perfume makes me feel nauseated in the same way that some patchouli scents do; it must be the particular mixture of fruits. (I also felt the same way about Miss Dior Cherie) That said, I do find PrettyPetals to be a natural smelling, long-lasting, high quality perfume, currently available for a ridiculously low price.

Yep Miss Dior Cherie for sure! I purchased this as a blind buy and the packaging threw me. I knew I smelled this scent but eye/ole factory connection can be easily mixed up. The eyes can trick the nose. Anyhow I realized that it was Miss Dior Cherie I was smelling and a pretty good dupe at that. Glad I purchased it.

This to me smells pretty similar to the original Miss Dior Cherie. Unfortunately I was never a fan of the Miss Dior Cherie, so it goes to say that Pretty Petals is also a miss for me. For those that do like Miss Dior, I would however definitely recommend Pretty Petals. It's worth the try.

This was too sweet and too soapy for me. Even my cats wouldn't come near me. Even for the price, it was bad. If I'd seen the comparisons to Miss Dior Cherie, I'd have known to stay away from it, because MDC always went really weird on me, too.

Bought this a couple of months ago as a blind buy. Too sweet for me. I can see someone in their teens or early twenties liking this, but I prefer oriental florals mostly and this is sweet fruit. Not for me.

If this is what miss dior cherie smelled like, i dont see what all the fuss is about. It must be peoples memory associations with miss dior cherie that people love

On me it smells like rancid clover honey- maybe it will morph into something nicer as the day goes on but for now- not so much

I've had a few Ellen Tracy perfumes (which are not easily found here in the UK but are available on some perfume sites) and my experience of those perfumes has been a bit hit or miss. Some I really like (Inspire and Tracy in particular, which are both lovely, long lasting and smell far more expensive than they are - and both have peony as a note so maybe that smell gels with my skin very appealingly!), but others (such as the - to me - very overrated Bronze) are definitely a miss. Having said that, that's true of all the perfumes I've tried from pretty much any perfume house, whether expensive, niche or budget priced! I ordered big bottles of Pretty Petals and Love Notes body mists yesterday and my Pretty Petals one arrived today so, of course, I was very excited to try it and see if it matches up in any way to what reviews about it on here say. I can definitely say that Pretty Petals is VERY similar to Miss Dior Cherie, which is a bit of a disappointment to me as I've never been a fan of that perfume although I don't find it disgusting! The similarity is that both Pretty Petals and MDC are quite tart, sharp(ish) and, to me, fairly 'cold' smelling perfumes. I've only had Pretty Petals on my wrist for an hour or so and I'm starting to smell a little amber in the drydown, perhaps a tiny hint of vanilla but that's barely there. It's definitely getting softer smelling the longer it's on my skin, which is preferable to how it starts out. Unlike some of the other reviewers' impressions (and experience) of it to me it doesn't smell even slightly jammy, syrupy, musky or flowery. One person has said it smells like lemons freshly picked off a lemon tree and that's how it smells to me too, and I also smell the blackberry, even a hint of patchouli in the base, although that's not a listed note. I think this could easily be layered with another perfume or fragrant oil, such as an Al Aneeq one, to give it a bit more depth and warmth. I think also the bottle totally doesn't reflect how the perfume is. The bottle is quirky, with all the cartoon type flowers scattered all over it, and pre-teen girl'ish yet the perfume smells quite mature and 'proper' (and not very floral at all!) so the bottle should be a bit more sophisticated and grown up looking! It's not hideous though (compared to some!) so it's OK for what it is!
