Vanilla Rice

Ordered this on release day and got it the very next day - Ulta be QUICK to ship to me lol! Anyways - I normally blind-buy Ellis scents as travel sprays - however, I LOVE Cherry Blossom scents, and this seemed unique enough, so I branched out and got a full bottle. SO glad I did. This is a milky lactonic cherry blossom. The vanilla is pretty, and honestly, this is floral and soft for the majority; the 'rice' note is a bit earthy and woody throughout the body. The cherry blossom is as if it were in a milky tea, and it's so comforting. The bottle is pretty - but not as pretty in person as I had seen in pictures..but not a big deal. I could easily wear this year-round. Any season, any day, any time. Easy to wear, comforting. It could be layered easily with musks and other florals or vanilla, and honestly, it's just really great on its own. I will say it does have a similar vibe to some of the "milk" "2% by snif" and other milky rice scents, but the cherry blossom and other florals in this really make it a bit unique and nice. I wish it had lasted a little longer, though! On an 8-hour workday, it was musky skin scent by 6-ish hours. Still going better on clothes - so over spray there but skin eh...however it's also hot now so that may be part of it. BUT I do really like this. 8/10 for me!

WOW this is even better than I was hoping it would be 🤩 Overall this is a powdery milky skin-like fragrance.. but it’s the most delicate, soft, etherial, most gorgeous powdery I’ve ever smelled. You do get the cherry blossom but it is sooo fragile, dainty, and just PRETTY. Smells just like the color of the bottle. it just adds such a gorgeous feminine touch. I get a soft milky vanilla + rice water cloud, delicate (translucent) cherry blossom and just a hint of coconut milk on my skin, on a bed of thin powderiness and musk. This is like the softest perfume ever. So comforting and pretty. I’m in love lol. EB is just a house that works for me ig, their scents always make me feel something. If the notes look good to you, I highly recommend! Bc to me it smells just like the notes! Absolutely stunning, magical almost. 🪽☁️🌫️🍦🌸🥛🍚🥥🌬️

Kenzo Amour is one of my favorite perfumes with vanilla and rice notes, and I *gasp* like Vanilla Rice even more. It's slightly sweeter, and the cherry blossom note is really beautiful. I agree with others who feel this is predominantly a delicate floral fragrance and not a gourmand-leaning vanilla rice pudding scent. The name is kind of misleading in that regard, but Vanilla Rice is likely still a safe blind buy for anyone who enjoys this general soft and airy scent profile. :)

I can smell the rice right away. With some rice perfumes, I feel like they smell too much like uncooked rice. This does not! It smells like rice that has been prepared with love. This is a comforting smell and the florals soon blend with the rice for a serene scent. I like EB's description of this having "soft power". This is the power of a strong but delicate beauty. Her strength lies in her grace.

This is LOVELY. It reminds me of a much better performing, more lotion-y version of Forever Cherry Blossom. The coconut starts to show up in the drydown and is really enjoyable. Average projection, average to slightly better than average performance. This may be my favorite release from Ellis Brooklyn so far! ❤️

The color of this gorgeous bottle and the look captures the essence of what this fragrance was meant to give so beautifully. Smells amazingly soft and sensual... for me it was a great blind buy. The initial spray opens up like a cherry blossom and settles down into this vanilla crème 😚 👌🏽

Very successful blind buy! The main accord is powdery so you must like powder to like this but it's also a little sweet, vanillic, coconutty, musky, and starchy. Beautiful, soft, and comforting. I see the resemblance to White Rice in the opening but the dry downs are completely different.

It’s a comforting fragrance.. has a gourmand aspect to it.. doesn’t seem to project.. very close to my skin.. will have to test a bit more .., overall good scent.. recommend it definitely

Love this one. Sits close to the skin but really lasts on me, I put it on before bed and could still smell it on both my skin (very faintly) and pajamas (pretty strongly) when I woke up.

Love at first sniff! Its warm and powdery from the rice yet floral from the cherry blossom. Rice and cherry blossom are the first things I pick up on. I love this.

Keeping it real here - for the gourmand girlies, this is not a gourmand scent at all! In Vanilla Salt I actually picked up lots of vanilla with the salty notes. As for Vanilla Rice, this is a soft floral scent through and through. You do get the rice note, but there is absolutely NO vanilla and coconut detected at all imo (with my nose). So I get SLIGHT toasted rice scent (kind of an alcohol opening though) with no sweet notes, and the cherry blossom/other florals are detected. This does not perform well in terms of projection (it's a skin scent), and longevity is 2 hrs max... disappointed with the performance. I will admit, it's a great summer release because it's light and pretty, but nowhere near a sweet perfume (gourmand-like)... so beware if you love gourmands!! The vanilla in the name is non-existent, unlike Vanilla Salt where I could actually detect vanilla. Overall, not what I was expecting, but I am pleasantly surprised the more I wear it.... the only thing I'm really disappointed about is performance.. it's barely there for me. Note: I am a gourmand lover, but whenever I find a perfume that's not too sweet or unique, I end up liking many other scent profiles too and they surprise me!

This is very pretty, but I agree that I wouldn’t necessarily consider this a rice perfume. This opens with a sweet toasted rice note that unfortunately is short-lived. I do not detect any of the other top notes listed. This quickly fades into a creamy and delicately floral skin scent. I do notice some vanilla like the name suggests, but I mainly am smelling warm tonka and cozy musk in the dry down. My main complaint is that the toasted rice note fades so fast, which is such a bummer because it smells sweet and comforting and briefly gives a rice pudding vibe. I also feel like there is a slight twang of something artificial in the dry down, but not so much that it would keep me from wearing it. This would be a very beautiful bedtime scent. I might layer it with some of my other musk fragrances, but nothing too strong otherwise this will get lost. Overall I really like this and bought a travel size to sit with for a while.

I had high hopes, that I wanted to blind buy the full bottle right away because I loved all the notes & gorgeous bottle, but after reading reviews here I decided to go with the mini first. I’m glad I did. While this is a pretty scent it’s too weak & basic for €150! It’s not vanilla rice, more like a cold pudding made with rice & edible florals. (Not gourmand) I don’t smell the vanilla much at all, especially when I first applied it. If this perfume was €50 I would’ve purchased the full bottle, but since this is €150 it’s too much for an intimate lackluster basic everyday scent, which most of us already have. I’m a bit sad tbh, this is the second perfume I like & would want to repurchase full size but I don’t because it’s too weak, especially for that price. It’s much marked up in my country. I’ll enjoy my 10mL & the rest of my Ellis Brooklyn collection. I won’t repurchase a full size.

Honestly, I don't know what I expected. It's literally called Vanilla RICE, but I've never smelled a rice perfume before. There's been a lot of hype around rice in fragrance lately, so I decided to blind buy this. The rice note is so realistic it's a bit off-putting to me. I smell like I just cooked dinner while wearing a vanilla perfume. Once the rice top note wears off, the vanilla scent is soo creamy and yummy! Walking around smelling like rice when I'm Asian just feels a little too on the nose lol. I have Asian friends that really like the d'Annam Mango Sticky Rice perfume, but maybe that rice note/composition is different, or it's just a difference of preference/perspective lol.

There is vanilla in this but it is FAR less sweet and gourmand than, for example, Vanilla Salt (so I don't recommend this to someone seeking a gourmand). It's predominantly a gentle, creamy, slightly sweet floral with a noticeable toasted rice note. The rice note is probably about 30% of the composition so it's not too savory (something that, in my opinion, can happen with other rice fragrances, where it can come across as something akin to malty wheat). I do wish this lasted longer but it's not surprising given it's sort of a skin scent. Very pretty, good addition to the Ellis Brooklyn lineup.

The rice is very subtle. I'm debating if I would full bottle this or not because I feel like I already own or have owned a scent like this. I was really excited for the rice aspect of this perfume but I mostly pick up on the vanilla cherry blossom and coconut milk but primarily the coconut. It reminds me of when I layer Lait de Coco perfume with my other sweet perfumes. The lack of rice note does feel disappointing to me. This is primarily a coconut scented perfume for me.

I really enjoy this fragrance so far, it's comforting and cozy! The rice and vanilla are subtle with just enough sweetness,it's creamy with a slight powdery undertone. It projects more than a typical 'skin scent',but still maintains a clean airy quality. Smells like you showered with an expensive vanilla rice milk soap. Similar to fragrances like VS Bare,Phlur Father's Figure or Soft Spot...does not smell identical,but gives the same projection and vibe.

It’s quite lovely. The opening is more floral than I’d like but it calms down and settles into sensual musk. I think it falls into the same profile as Room 1015 Sonic Flower - clean, warm and put together skin scent. It also has some similarities to Phlur Not Your Baby. I wouldn’t call it gourmand, or sweet (2.5 out of 5 sweetness).

Reminds me of Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere, maybe a spring summer version, although the notes wouldn’t necessarily make you think so. The rice note seems to disappear pretty quickly on me. The cherry blossom is a bit powdery and vintage. I find I’m left with a slightly toasted musky vanilla. Nice enough.

This smells like what I was hoping Commodity Milk Orchid would smell like. It reminds me of a more springy, floral version of Moon Milk by Being Frenshe. There’s definitely a soft feel to it, Im not big into florals but I think Im gonna keep this for days where I just wanna smell pretty and clean

The first 10 minutes is lovely. I wish the toasted rice note lingered much longer as it is beautiful, but this perfume dries down into watery nothing... Very weak, very B&BW. I’m going to enjoy my sample, but would say that this isn’t full bottle worthy.

Coconut fades and it leaves us with the Sakura Blossoms and Rice. It is much closer to the skin than their other scents. It's pleasant, but not one I will reach for a lot.

In my opinion it smells really similar to Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere or Sabrina Carpenter Sweet Tooth only it actually has lasting power. It's really nice!

This is not a sweet gourmandy fragrance in my opinion. I get the tiniest bit of a starchy rice but mostly, I just get a powdery floral. To have vanilla in the name, there certainly isn’t much vanilla or sweetness at all. In regards to projection, it doesn’t exist. I literally have to put my nose up to my skin to smell it. Maybe it would improve with time but I doubt I will keep this one around long enough to find out.

So this is just ok for me. I like the bottle more than the juice. It is light, slightly powdery with the rice note almost smelling like a dry coconut at first to my nose. After that comes a light floraly sakura blossom and some equally light musk.There is vanilla floating around in there but it is light like everything else in this fragrance. Personally not my vibe and a reminder I should not blind buy.

Bought this on a whim because I was craving a new soft summer gourmand and these notes sounded amazing. The opening is beautiful, but it fades so quickly to a basic vanilla musk :/ It doesn't smell bad, and I will definitely wear it, but I'm happy I decided to go with the travel size as I can see myself getting bored of this quickly.

The opening does smell like Snif 2% (so I agree with whoever suggested that), but I wanna say it's like fresh laundry meets coconut milk once it dries down.

i don’t get either vanilla or rice ironically. smells like cherry blossom

Dries down into a soapy cherry blossom forward scent on me until fading into a skin musk. Super light and clean, capturing the essence of skin after a shower. It's pretty and effortless, but not necessarily as strong on the vanilla or rice aside from being a bit starchy/powdery almost in a milky rice pudding way upon first spraying. Fairly similar to BBW Forever Cherry Blossom, just far lighter, creamier, and a bit less floral. Super easy to grab and perfect for everyday.

This smells just like Lait De Coco from Le Monde Gourmand. That one is a little more coconutty but both of them smell like a clean/sweet/lighty floral/vanilla lotion. I don't know how else to describe it. Clean freshly showered skin with a vanilla coconut body lotion

Very floral and coconut heavy for a perfume named Vanilla Rice. The Freesia/Coconut combo remind me of Juliette Has A Gun's Lust For Sun. Not terrible, just highly derivative of every other sweet, beach-y perfume that came before it.

If you’re looking for a rice scent this isn’t it. This is like 90% musky vanilla with 5% toasted rice and 5% other notes that are listed. It’s not really floral to my nose, can’t smell cherry blossom at all.

The early access period for this fragrance starts tomorrow bro how have three people already rated this as a “Love”. How on earth does one person already own this. Did you break into the Ellis factory????

When this dried down it smelled like a mixture of cherry blossoms and BL/Eclaire to me 🤷🏽♂️

This smells exactly like coconut sticky rice, do with that what you will.

Such a pretty pink bottle color! Looking forward to checking this one out
