Senso

The mid-late 80s saw this resurgence for a L'Heure Bleue style heliotrope, Mitsouko style peach, and Shalimar style amber wedged into lux, dynamo florals. In Ungaro's Senso, this is perceivable within the cherry-and-grape-Koolaid powder veneer, muddled with tuberose, ylang, and carnation. It feels quite like a classic Guerlain redux gussied-up and tramped-up for 80s excess. There is a holy helping of opoponax, that glorious gum resin that illuminates, and this is most forward in my skin, much as it behaves on the aforementioned Shalimar. It's enhanced with cinnamon and woods, and a delightful transition from the saturated florals and dusty fruits into these later phases is the real showstopper of Senso. It's actually surprising this is seldom celebrated in vintage/classic circles. It is bold and beautiful.

I already wrote a review, but here I am again to review the EDP, in the pink bottle (second formula). Sometimes the EDP is completely different than the EDT. In this case, they smell the same. But, as I hoped, the EDP lasts a lot longer and the faint fruity scent also lasts a lot longer. I really like this one. I also have the bath gel from the first formula (clear bottle). Still, I think the second formula is better. The first formula doesn't have anything to do with the second formula. They both should have their separate page to evaluate.

Love the scent. I have the perfume version with square drapped frosted bottle with blue cap, none in yhe pics above. It sure smell like old 80's expensive perfume. I bought it on sale box for about 19$ yet is sure smells like far more expensive and complicated perfume. To my skin it smell very balsamic woody and than come the flowery scent. For an old perfume lover, this is surely a gem

I have the pink bottle (eau de toilette) and I love it. As the scent doens't last all day long I hope to be able to get my hands on an eau de Parfum and notice the difference. The bottle looks great as well. The pink bottle is playfull. The Ungaro de Ungaro is tres chique, completely different but also a great scent.

WAUW!! Good to know Flora Bella is similar!! All those vintages can be pretty expensive like the original Urango for women, which resembles Joop! For women very much! Love to have the original vintages, but for actual use the new ones are more handy I think! At least for the wallet!

Vintage Senso EDP is a bright, feminine and sensuous perfume full of tuberose, plum, resins and cinnamon. A bold, beautiful 80's floral love for me!

I had the pre-reformulated Senso and I just loved it. For all those nostalgic ladies, just to let you know that I have recently bought Lalique Flora Bella and I just cannot believe how close to Senso it is. No mistery here, just look at the notes :-) Both perfumes have mandarin and bergamot in the top notes, tuberose, carnation and orchid in the middle ones and musk and vanilla for the base. If you loved the old Senso, you will definitely love Flora Bella, too, which is also a bit less aggressive than Senso. But I agree, there were some good perfumes (and music) in the 80s...

Senso by Ungaro is an energizing, uplifting fragrance. Notes of grapefruit, mandarin orange, peach, and carnation are prominent. Reminds me of an uber-sophisticated version of Jean Nate bath splash! Sillage is moderate, longevity is disappointing (about 3 hours). This perfume sits close to the skin; perfect applied after a long bath.

Rose and plum and cinnamon sandalwood. This is surprisingly beautiful and sparkly! I don’t usually like amber fragrances, however this amber is subtle and blends well with the fruit and florals. Definitely has a vintage vibe. When dry, the sparkle is gone and it’s mostly earthy patchouli.

I bought a cute little miniature bottle of this Parfum because people who liked gabanna (red cap) and Mackie by Bob Mackie liked this too. It’s a little too sweet and warm for me. Kind of syrupy like and almost headache inducing. Mackie is my signature scent, so I’m not “afraid” of complicated powerful 90s fragrances, but I’m learning that I’m finicky as I have been trying for a decade to find just ONE more scent to add to the only 3 I’ll wear and have ever worn regularly throughout my life. In the forum, some suggestions were made for me, so I just ordered a few sample sizes and am now anxiously awaiting their arrival. Anyway, back to Senso.....it is not “bad”, it’s just heavy and really sweetly warm to wear. I feel like I’d much prefer smelling it on someone near me rather than ON me, if that makes sense. And it’s definitely a “mature” scent. This isn’t CK one, nor is it lollipop candy smelling. It’s a real woman of a fragrance

It's ok I guess. Very dated, late '80's style slightly stale fruity powdery scent, similar to Scassi, Tresor, Red, etc. The top smells just like grape juice to me and I can't differentiate any of the notes at all throughout it's life. I do pick out the cinnamon which for some reason sticks out like a sore thumb. It would seem that I don't care for cinnamon in my perfumes ie Apercu and White Diamonds. I found no similarity whatsoever to Lalique's Flora Bella. FB is likable milky tea scent and this is definately not in that genre. I'm not a fan and won't be wearing this one anytime soon. Update: I take it back...I love cinnamon! Rochas Femme, Silk Way...wonderful! I just don't like Senso...

This has all of the gloriousness of the late 80's/early 90's in one bottle. The resins and the fruit with amber, cinnamon, and patchouli? Heavenly. If you love vintage scents I urge you to hunt this one down. I blind bought it for a steal and I am so glad I did! The plum and peach open this one out, and in that almost 'dusty' way that the 90's had with fruity scents (trust me, I prefer that over some of the fruit offerings we get these days!). On me the oppoponax is strong (in the best way) and it mixes with the amber, heliotrope, patchouli and cedar for an almost masculine resiny cloud. I have gotten so many compliments this morning! Cinnamon and carnation add a hint of spicy and I get orchid and jasmine wafts along with a tiny bit of 'soapy' that I'm ok with. This is truly a masterpiece. Well-blended but each note is like music to my nose. (If that makes sense). Ok, enough rhapsodizing! If you get a chance to try this one, I say go for it! Very worth it.

The newspaper articles of the 80s talk about Zagara as principal ingredient of Senso. Zagara is the name given to all the flowers of citruses (lemon, orange, bergamot, bitter orange)and to me this perfume really smell like such flowers than it has a cologne vibe but in a deep "sunset way" and more than this it has a sensual and intoxicating heart made of an huge dose of tuberose spices amber and resins that louds. The base is very similar to Moschino by Moschino. And I find resemblances with Jil Sander n4, Cornubia, maybe Boucheron.. Has honey animal notes like beeswax or even more beast like not listed. I believe this gorgeous fragrance was too ahead for the 80s and the 90s..

I am reviewing the pink one , the EDT version .. well, definately this is chic perfume , mixture of citus and musk here is very complex , i can sense amber too , maybe also bergamote , it is not sweet , somewhat bitter , powdery , musky yet very deeply sensual perfume , I can't find it around any more , but I can live without it now I prefere fresher smelling perfumes , it is not nausiating don't get me wrong yet it is not very special like for example private collection by estee lauder ..

No wonder I like this fragrance, it was created by Jacques Polge. I have a carded sample of the 90s formulation in the bright coloured packaging. I don't know that I would get through a full bottle, it's quite an outgoing fragrance but it is warm, rich and smooth and quite unique. Better than most things of that era.

Reminds me a lot of the original Poison, with a purple grape koolaid jasmine feel, but minus the heavy incense and unwashed body-ambers of that era. Really nice, but dries super sweet on me, too sweet. But for people who don't amp sweet notes, it's pretty wonderful, drying with a vintage oakmoss sandalwood base.

Wow! Today I tested it for the first time and I'm totally blown away, what a scent, big fusion of mature and sophisticated notes, represents that era of perfumes in great way. Otherwise, I am very angry that there is no hype about this fragrance and rarely who mention it in the topics, which this scent deserves.

I'm utterly confused. I tried this on my wrist in the winter Mediterranean climate and i got beautiful honeyed and bubbling tuberose and ylang. 2 months later, i tested it in the central europe continental climate and to my disappointment all i got on my skin was floral laundry detergent.

je l'ai acheté dans les années 90 , déjà revu mais fabuleux dommage qu'il ne se fasse plus, il était peut être en avance sur son époque j'aimerais beaucoup Mr Ungaro que vous pensiez à le refaire et à le remettre sur le marché merci
