Ungaro Gold

Ungaro Gold by Emanuel Ungaro is a fruity, fresh fragrance, when dry the notes of pear are clearly appreciated, light citrus citrus accords of mandarin open to a white floral heart where gardenia reigns supreme. At the dry down the sweetness of vanilla and warm amber notes emerge. Young, fresh fragrance with a very appreciable white floral Sillage of moderate duration.

It opens citrusy, sharp and a bit screechy and after it settles I get some vague floral notes and some sweetnes...just a bit. The drydown is unisex, leaning towards masculine, kind of aftershavey, generic even where nothing stands out. It's not a bad fragrance but it isn't a good one either, it's plain, synthetic and boring. I've blind bought it, expecting to get a sweet, juicy pear mixed with gardenia and vanilla notes, a bit disappointed but at least it was cheap...

Attention: the bottle does not necessarily reflects what's in it. It's a fruity fragrance but not in an overly sweet manner of which shelves are full nowadays. Even a little bit masculine I would say. I cannot detect any vanilla on me. Pear sorbet plays the first note. After it comes patchouli which I truly hate in most of the fragrances. But here it is blended so well that even I find pleasure wearing it. Longevity: moderete. Sillage: keeps close to the skin. Great choice for spring/summer.
