Captured in Amber

A beautiful amber-chocolate scent that smells like a freshly made salted, chocolate and vanilla candy at a beachside candy store. According to the perfumer's website, this does contain real ambergris, which is what gives the perfume its delicious salty flavor and contributes to its immense lasting power. I can still smell this on my skin for almost 24 hours. This is an amazing feat, considering how fleeting most modern perfumes have become. It's a true testament to the power of a beautiful and well made perfume when it's made with quality ingredients. Vanilla and patchouli add to the delicious effect of the perfume. While the cacao is not the main star of this fragrance, (at least to me), it does pervade the overall fragrance. I'm not a huge fan of too much chocolate in a fragrance, so this does appeal to my taste. I prefer the more subtle type of cacao. It does not smell dusty or mildewed to my nose at all. The perfume remains sweet and buttery and rich. If you're seeking a lasting fragrance that smells like quality that most vintages used to naturally contain, I'd recommend this fragrance.

Captured in Amber is the fraternal twin to Cafe Cacao from the En Voyage trio of gourmands. They both share a salted chocolate base but where Cafe Cacao has the gene for Turkish coffee, Captured in Amber has the gene for Stoned by Solange Azagury-Patridge/Lyn Harris. The marine saltiness that represents ambergris is amped up in CIA(lol) compared to its supporting role in CC. Captured in Amber also has the buttery suede effect like Stoned, possibly from the labdanum and patchouli on me. The overall feeling is a balmy, relaxing gourmand scent. Fantastic sillage and longevity, all from a couple of drops applied on clothes. I recommend for oriental lovers who enjoy a gourmand splash.

Amazing rich chocolate scent layered with resins and dry, spicy woody patchouli. Dense, wonderfully complex composition. Not too sweet, like dark baker's chocolate. Sillage is amazing can smell across a room! Lasts well too.

This is a fragrance with amber thick, concentrated, warm, super balsamic with salty and liqueur chocolate ... and too complex! 70% oriental 30% gourmant Diabolic, shameless,mature first and then nocturnal and comfortable. Ever extra strong for insatiable gluttons! Nice drydown...very nice and magnetic.It reminds me of a bit of atmosphere of Killian(back to black). It lasts a lifetime, but 'to my nose it becomes easily cloying and oppressive in the early hours. No overspray please ... its dangerous! :-))

I agree that its similar to Cafe Cacao. But less of that rich dark chocolate smell, and more of the dry, dusty, chalky smell. Not to horny about it myself but fragcom tends to love that stuff. Still nice and enjoyable(the top more so for me)but again cafe cacao is pretty similar I think and better.
