Frida

Its definitely an interesting fragrance. My first thought was how it reminded me so much of Zoologist Hummingbird. That same sweetness, earthiness and muskiness but without the creaminess. Frida has more obvious floral notes which is better for me. It has low sillage but lasts a good few hours. Not for me but if you like lots of earth smells then give it a try.

not really an oriental floral on me, more like a condensed floral fruity. brings escada associations. i can barely smell it after an hour.

Just got my sample in the mail yesterday and must say it's quite different from what I expected, which was a powerhouse. But it's not, it is soft and deep, contemplative even. The overall effect of the combination of notes is somewhat like licorice and I am surprised to find no anise listed. Forever leery of aldehydes, I decided to try this anyway just because the concept is intriguing and the other notes seemed to be something I could handle. The aldehydes here are barely detectable to my nose. What I am picking up: champaca, frankincense, fresh green tobacco and light musk. A good bit of watermelon as well. There is a flower coming through that is not tuberose; it must be the cactus flower. I was not familiar with the scent of cactus flower but I can say now that is is a unique and clean, refreshing one. This comes across as fresh yet mysterious and I find it getting a bit sweeter over time; not candy sweet though. All the notes are muted and blended well. I am a big lover of champaca and frankincense and the fact that it comes together here so well, with a surprise enhancement by watermelon (never a fan fruit or melon in fragrances), makes this a dream fragrance for me. I would absolutely say this is an artist's fragrance. I'm not so sure I would have named it Frida, though; seems like it might need to be bolder for that. I enjoy the soft, watery aspect of it, ever so slight smoky incense becoming increasingly noticeable. NOW I can see Frida painting in her torchlit garden at dusk. In a word, this is beautiful. It has medium sillage and 2-3 hour longevity. It's not too expensive though so I believe I can justify a full bottle of it.
