L'Hombre

I got this as a sample initally and was smitten by it. I got a full bottle and now consider this my signature scent. Although whiskey and coffee are listed as notes, they are not dominant enough to make this come across as a gourmand scent. Most fragrances I've smelled that have oud in them tend to be sharp and unappealing to me. This fragrance doesn't go in that direction. The oud is understated but preserves a woodiness that is very well balanced with the other accords. There's definately a smoky incense and nip of patchouli present, but again, neither is dominant. Even the citruis notes that are present initially are just a hint. Everything is very well balanced. After the initial dry down, it has a unified character so that no single note dominates. This makes it very hard to describe. In a word, it is masculine. And I love it. As the day goes on and turns into night, it changes into something that I would describe as an earthy wood. I put this on early in the morning before I go to work, only one spray, and I can smell it all day. Even as I go to sleep at night, I can still smell it. If I put on more than one spray, I fill a room, so the projection is huge. I am somewhat reluctant to post a review of this, as I want to keep it as my own personal secret. But this is something that the world should experience.

Amazingly smoky, boozy, oudy and citrusy, for me l’Hombre is a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough, though this isn’t terribly out of the blue given Mrs. Waddington’s near-historic renown. Opens up bright, warm spices complementing effervescent & zesty citruses—primarily bergamot, orange and orange peel to my nose—pairing perfectly with the scotch whiskey accord accompanying them. The bold heart and base notes waste no time in making themselves known, dark roasted coffee balanced out perfectly by fresh frankincense, anchored into further depths by oud, amber, patchouli, musk, oakmoss & vetiver. Superbly blended overall, coming across dark, brooding, mysterious and seductive, and simultaneously flirtatious and playful. I rank this and New York Man highly among American niche. Sillage moderate, longevity excellent, very competitively priced. Bravo, madame!!!

L'Hombre is truly something amazing! This is so rich,warming and mature. When I say "mature" I don't mean it as something that smells like something a older person would wear, it just smells so sophisticated and bold. I love this from top to bottom and I really want people to experience Envoyage Perfumes because Shelly puts her heart and soul into these fine works of art!

I got mostly spices with a bit of patchouli in the base. No coffee, and no boozy vibe. *My sample is from years ago

This is a 100% knockoff of Chanel A Gentleman's aftershave. They do not make it anymore but I really love it.
