Tagetes Femme

The marigold reminds me of Halston, but a lot more resinous and woodsy. This house seems to really like their waxy resins. Despite having "Femme" in the title I would say this is unisex. Probably my least favorite of the ones I tried.

Exciting vanilla right away, slightly resinous and a little mouthwatering. Maybe just a hint of the marigold namesake but I can't be sure. As it opens though the vanilla takes over, softer but increasingly cloying and powdery. Also slightly sour, which may be the current blossom or musc coming through. I'm sorry to say this screams "old lady" on me. It reminds me of my mother's cousin, who gifted me some of her old sweaters and each one smelled like this--she hadn't had any of them cleaned. After the vanilla fades, maybe half an hour, it's the musc and powdery patchouli that remain. Not bad but also not terribly distinctive or compelling. Definitely a vintage feel but not for me.

Tagetes Femme is a deep, rich and intoxicating perfume. I love the balsamic sweetness of this En Voyage creation. Like perfumes of the 80's Tagetes Femme is long lasting on the skin, but unlike perfumes of the 80's it does not leave a 10 foot trail behind you. Mid way through the dry down I get a titch of sage and orange blossom added into the balsamic sweetness. The dry down is a beautiful balsamic vanilla. I would say this is easily a unisex scent and a must have for anyone who loves balsamic fragrances.
