English Laundry Notting Hill Femme

Blind bought this today @ TJ Maxx for $12.99 (say what!!!???). First impression for me (box opening): @ $12.99 from TJ Maxx I expected the box to have something missing. Nope. All items included. I could not even smell any fragrance from the box upon opening which led me to believe this was brand, spanking new. It did have the security wraparound tag on it also. This is what I got: ENGLISH LAUNDRY NOTTING HILL FEMME PERFUME 3PC GIFT SET: 1 each NOTTING HILL FEMME EDP SPRAY 3.4 OZ, 1 each 0.34 OZ spray & 1 each BODY LOTION 6.8 OZ. First impressions are said to be lasting and with this perfume I find myself wishing hoping for the top notes to not disappear. If there was ever a fragrance I wished to remain linear, this is the one. I am smitten with the initial opening. Even as I am writing this review I have unashamedly and joyfully reapplied to recapture that moment. As fellow Fragantican @KarlekLila considers NH for women a "... pretty fragrance..." and I agree 150%. I would caveat "gorgeously feminine". (Think ruffled blouse worn under an understated power suit; shy but knowing smiles (40 degrees warmer than Mona Lisa's), while wearing this.If this is how it performs in winter, I can't wait to see how it develops and performs in the warmer seasons. After about 30 to 45 minutes after applying, it remains linear and I sense no significant changes beyond what I have experienced during the first 20 minutes or so. This suits me, as I had no wish for it to morph into anything other than what it initially was. During this time I have not detected any pronounced citrus notes except at the initial spray which faded quickly, if it was there at all. I do feel the amber/fruity/vanillic vibe is what carries this perfume from top note to middle note. If this continues as it has, I would say, it can be considered linear after the first 30+ minutes of initial application, but much muted. There appears to be a citrus note hanging in the background, bu it doesn't assert itself. I do not feel that it projects beyond a 6 foot radius but could be accentuated by spraying both on skin and clothing being worn at the same time. To amplify or increase longevity I would personally add this fragrance after having bathed/showered and applied a neutral oil such as fractionated coconut or jojoba as these tend to not change the original scent of the perfume being worn. I would also recommend having a purse size refill atomizer to refresh the scent. It does not, IMO last as long as it should, for an EDP concentration. It is more along the lines of an EDT or EDC in strength and longevity. Immediately after sampling at home I've been racking my brain trying to recall what this scent reminds me of. I checked the reviews here for clues and voila! The notes of this perfume recalls to mind several perfumes: Si by Giorgio Armani (2013), Angel Muse by Mugler (2016), & John Varavatos for women (2008). Are you with me so far? . . . good. Because its "Ride or Die" time with this gorgeous fragrance. Would anyone (I dare you), fault me for even thinking of skipping work tomorrow to go trolling within a 100 mile radius for any remaining 3 piece fragrance sets, at this price?) I vote to change this fragrance to have a new group: Oriental Floral Gourmand! Yes?!

This was a blind buy for me. $12.99 at Ross compared to $50 to $60 on eBay, how could I loose? At first spritz, I thought, "Oh no, cheap fruity yuck!!!" But then it happened...the dry down...and I fell in love. At first I thought, "How could this elegant bottle housed in a high end box hold such awful run of the mill cherry/ strawberry urinal cake meets car air freshner?" Well, just as a fine wine, it needs to sit for awhile and its true beauty emerges. Cut to me spraying myself, my dogs, my sheets, my clothes...everything!

Not sure how English Laundry made two citrus scents manage to smell completely different but this and Oxford Bleu are complete polar opposites. Oxford Bleu is BRIGHT fruity and floral while this one is soft amber and musk and vanilla. Of the two I definitely prefer Notting Hill. Will probably buy a bigger bottle of this one as the travel rollerball is great but I really love this one so I would definitely invest in a big bottle of this perfume 🥰

Thanks to my Secret Santa, I was able to try some from this house. These are pleasant, likeable, and overall safe, compositions. I'm wearing this particular one on my wrist, and it's quite nice. A pleasantly sweet, but not overly sweet scent. Feminine and light, but would be a bit much in the extreme heat. I do see some similarities with Armani Si, but I feel Si is much better. I think it's the quality of this one that is bothering me. There's a feeling of having been here before, only better. I don't get any complexity, as it dries down fairly similarly to its opening with only the disappearance of the more interesting top notes. And I find that this house has a base that seems to reappear through its perfumes. Nice and pretty. I'm sure others would love it.

The first spray is so very Si, which I also have, but then it does have it's own personality. It has a big personality. This is a fabulous scent, the bottle is cute, and the price ... I mean c'mon! You can't throw shade at this brand. It's fresh, green and a little citrus but also incredibly warm and intoxicating with that vanilla and amber. I bought a bottle from Winners when they cleared them out after Christmas for around $10. This is the cheapest perfume but it smells much more expensive. If you find Si too expensive on your budget, this will probably be the closest thing to it. It's very thick and aromatic so it may be too much for hot summer days but winter is now here so I'll be reaching for this quite often.

like the original Si but diluted somehow. it's not listed here, but I'm getting a really strong pineapple??? idk what could be causing it, but I don't dislike it. most English Laundry frags don't perform well on me (~5hrs MAX) and sadly this is not an exception. this is something I'd wear if I wanted to feel kinda fancy but I was just wearing pajamas or something; sophisticated but still very casual. absolutely not worth MSRP, but it's usually available for much less than that (a much more acceptable price point lol).

I want to describe this as floral-fruity-chypre. The cassis adds an aromatic edge to this and makes it intriguing. It reminds me a little bit of Chloe Nomade, and I can see the associations with Armani Si as well. This is the poor (wo)man's version of Nomade or Si. For the price I got it for (a 3-pack of purse sprays for $10), it's definitely worth checking out if you don't already have Nomade or Si in your collection.

I got the miniature version in a gift set and immediately I sprayed it, I knew it reminded me of something else I had - Si by Armani. It’s fruity, bright and sweet. Nothing new but still good. I will definitely wear it during my casual outings and I will get a full bottle because it actually lasted a decent amount of time with just two sprays. This is my first encounter with this brand and it is a very good one.

Update: Contrary to the description this is not green and leafy at all but juicy like cassis wine. In winter it is rich, buttery, and warm with an ever so slight fermented wine aspect that dries to powdery amber, whereas it is slightly more vanillic in summer. This juice is delicious! Huge sillage at first but softens to a medium. The longevity is decent in winter but this juice blooms in summer!

when I got this perfume, it smelled fully like a warm nutmeg and cinnamon type fragrance. I only pick up the citrusy notes after seeing the accords list. There is a bit of a muskier full body element to it which I'm sure could be perceived as quite masculine to some people. Either way it's a very pleasant smell. Not overwhelming, clean and cozy, currently my winter go-to.

I put this in my “bedtime scent” drawer based on experience with other English Laundry scents. When I got up this morning, I could still smell it. I had assumed it would be as short-lived as some of its siblings. I got it in an assortment. I liked it from the start, and once I realized I would get some mileage out of it, I ordered a bigger bottle.

Finally this pretty fragrance is listed in Fragrantica database! Perhaps it's the black current leaf and rich cassis in the topnotes, but this juice smells like a fine, buttery chardonnay to me! Sillage is fantastic! Longevity is about 10 hours on my skin. A wonderful summer scent.

This fragrance is a very good dupe for Armani Si except for the lack of patchouli. If you don’t like pachouli this will be a perfect jammy cassis for you. I do miss patch on the mix and for me this one lacks performance. Overall a good fragrance for the price.

Fresh citrus and floral turning into an elegant musk. Very nice.

sugary candy rose, but very tart

Oh I don't like it, I've heard scents described as "cat pee" before but have never smelled it until now. The indole is doing the most, the jasmine is sharp and then there is lemon Halls cough candy. The jasmine isn't even overly strong it's just really unpleasant. Oh no no no it's a scrubber for me.

I like this fragrance very much. It's warm and inviting and not too flowery. It's the only English Laundry scent that I can wear. All the others give me migraines and make my eyes itch and swell. This one gives me a mild headache sometimes, but I like it enough to put up with it every now and then

As many others I got it for 12.99. I really thought that there is something either wrong with it or its total crap(I mean for that price??) Shocker, its a nice scent. I like it. It has citrusy opening then it cycles into warm slightly spicy feminine floral. I thought it has orange blossom because it has that spicy feel but I guess not. I am very surprised to see that many think it resembles Si because I have Si and its very sweet.This one is citrusy and floral. My nose can't smell anything similar at all. My dissapointment is that it does not last or project well. On me, it almost immediately turns into skin scent which is too bad because with good projection I can see this being in my permanent rotation for cooler months PS after reading about Si references I smelled it again and bingo, now my nose smells similar notes. I will say that Si is much more sweet and thick if you will. This is much ligther more citrusy sister.

Picked this up for super cheap and totally love it! Imagine if Armani Si EDT and Marc Jacobs decadence had a scent baby. You'd get a pretty good idea what you're getting here. Where Si EDT can be very lush and slightly heavy from the red wine-like cassis, Notting Hill is tempered down and rounded out and the wine-ish cassis is a low-alcohol white wine like moscato. I mentioned Decadence because this one also has amber and woody notes that can pull a bit dill pickle-esque to certain noses. It is also super sweet in a classy way upon first spray like MJ Decadence but then loses all the syrupy aspects upon dry down. This perfume is classy but playful. Light enough for an afternoon scent, complex enough for an evening scent. Beautifully rounded in cool weather, attention grabbing in warmer weather, but not suitable for intense heat .
