Enrico Coveri Pour Homme

ooooooh I'd never even heard of this until last week and I'm happy I tried it because boy was it an enjoyable experience. Sadly it was short-lived a the modern bottle of this is pretty weak but while it did stick around, I loved the feel of this perfume. Is it like many a masculine aromatic of the 80's era? Yes! it is. I think the crucial difference which sets this apart is the progression of the notes and the freshness/transparency. The 80's masc is not renowned for it's subtlety (hence the moniker 'Powerhouse') and many of them are giant, bludgeoning, sledgehammers, this is very smooth and with almost JCE, transparency (bearing in mind this is a modern bottle and might just be a little meek compared to a vintage) I found a fresh opening a, bracing citrus followed by a spicy, woody leather and then the best part a prominent, geranium note with that lovely undertone of mint, captured perfectly by this. A friend of mine (unfortunately I can't take credit for this) said it was like a man shaving and washing at a sink, perhaps applying an old aftershave while brushing his teeth with minty toothpaste at the same time. Perfect imagery. The spices in this have a cooking warmth, a mellow cinnamon/nutmeg, then the base a mossy leathery wood, albeit gone far too soon because that's just as enjoyable as the opening. All in all I get why some of the 'reminds me of' are listed here, I really do.... there's certainly shades of Smalto or Tsar but I would probably add references like Malle's geranium pour monsieur, Halston Z14, and even perhaps the light hearted feel of something like Cacherel pour homme. I loved this perfume and even at it's current version complete with pathetic duration on skin, I'd like a bottle because I ony had a small sample, so if I drench myself/spray clothing and hair, It might just be a goer. A pleasant surprise.

I have the current Evaflor version of Enrico Coveri pour Homme in EdT, and a "vintage" Euroitalia version after-shave. The new version is very faithful to the vintage, in my opinion. The opening is stronger and a bit harsh in comparison: I think the Clary Sage overpowers the other notes at first, providing more of a "green" element than in the vintage. Perhaps that might be explained by the age of the vintage bottle: was the opening more powerful when the juice was fresh? Regardless, within about thirty minutes the fragrance balances out, and from that point on I find the two versions to be indistinguishable, and of the highest quality. ECpH is a warm Mediterranean fragrance with impressive longevity despite moderate silage. This is the kind of fragrance that makes me appreciate the perfumer's art: at different times I think I can recognize almost all the diverse ingredients, yet collectively they fuse into something all its own. The amber, musk and oakmoss notes combine for a wonderful long-lasting base that brings to mind vintage Xeryus which is high praise in my opinion. It's not often (never?) that I praise a re-release, or "update" to a quality fragrance, so I am pleasantly surprised to do so for the new version of Enrico Coveri pour Homme. I give it a strong recommendation, and am happy to see that the price is reasonable.

That was a perfume! I was a little more than a kid when this wonder got to the market, but i loved it to bits. I had my well established collection of mini bottles (i started collecting fumes since i was 5 years old, now i collect full bottles lol) and this one was one of my prides. Fresh, aromatic fougere, smelled like lavender in the woods. The conifer accent was very present. The spices are so well blended, you get mainly freshness... however well grounded to the base during all its duration. At the time, it was a sillage monster and to me that's how any men should have smelled. Grand. Distinguished. Refined. I haven't smelled the current available version, but i have my mini bottle from the eighties. The bottle is forest green. Probably no one knows but the very first edition of this perfume was called Enrico Coveri "Dollars". With a final $. Yep, green bottle like green dollars. Then after a few years the name "Dollar$" - yes super tacky - subsided and the perfume was left only with the Enrico Coveri pour homme denomination. The title "Dollars" was printed both on the bottle and on the box in silver print. My mini bottle is like that. Maybe it should go to a museum.

UPDATE: I've been wearing this increasingly, it's a nice, sharp, less conspicuous alternative to the well known "traditional rugged man" fragrances like Polo Green or Drakkar Noir, and mainly comprises tarragon & thyme. Very easy to wear; has gradually become my signature scent for summer. First impressions review: This seems to be on its way out, at least in the UK, so curiosity and opportunity got the better of me and I grabbed a lightly used bottle whilst I could. A very familiar but well executed, clean-green classic. Opens up extremely fresh, with tarragon clearly perceptible, giving a minty aniseed feel. Next, a bodily funk comes in - previous reviewers have described it as 'clean scrotum', 'armpit' or 'sex after a shower'😆, and it's definitely there! No idea which note is giving this, but it passes quite quickly, until we enter a green, Drakkar Noir-like phase, led by moss and pine, before driying down to something more musky. Overall the texture is sharp, and I think more appropriate for warm weather than cold. Really good!

Enrico Coveri pour Homme is an underrated, high-quality fougere. A fougere that's absolutely wearable even today, despite having been released in the 1980s. Lavender, bergamot, sandalwood, patchouli, pine, geranium, and oakmoss: a perfect mix for an elegant yet not overly serious aromatic fougere. It's cheerful in its elegance. Obviously, a twenty-year-old would find it dated, but a seasoned perfume enthusiast would find it excellent. I highly recommend the Euroitalia vintage version, which has a qualitatively superior blend compared to the otherwise good reformulations. The cheerful style of the 1980s in a bottle! The very best of the 80's aromatics! The blend is just perfect here. I just gives you EXACTLY what you want from an aromatic, fougere, fresh spicy fragrance from the 80's. It tells a tale of better, classy times without being to harsh, stuffy or in your face. Perfectly balanced greens, woods & spices provide and utterly satisfying aroma which even manages to be unique, because every fragrance that this is being compared to, lacks its overall complexity maybe the only exception being Biagiotti Uomo. Truly Italian! This is for the current Evaflor version which has brilliantly kept the vintage alive. Bravo!

very nice blend of aromatic greens. very much in the mould of azzaro homme and tsar by VC & A. I was really put off by the opening but after 20 minutes or so it really settles down into what I expected this to be. It's a complete throwback and unlike anything being released today. Out of all the big fragrances of the era I can see younger people using this more than the others. its a bit sporty and bright and not musky at all. Although I sprayed this only 40 minutes ago and I expect it to turn less green and more leathery/ amber towards the end. Well worth the price 18 Euros!

I'm a new fan of Enrico Coveri Pour Homme! It has a unique note to it that creates a clean, masculine, Italian barbershop scent. My vintage mini-bottle has wowed me into ordering a full bottle! UPDATE: This Is one of my favorite barbershop scents. I have two full bottles: the current version made in France and the original Euroitalia made in Italy; both are super close in scent and performance.

This smells very similar (albeit toned down version) of Red for Men, Giorgio of Beverly Hills. Both have that spicy, slightly animalic, leather and oakmoss smell to it. They are not identical in scent but quite similar with Enrico being slightly toned down. Pure 80's at its best. I also paid under $20 ($16.20 to be exact). Definitely worth every penny in my opinion.

I found Enrico Coveri by coincidence and I bought it thanks to the good reviews! What a nice perfume!! Spicy, aromatic, classic, very masculine, almost identical to John Player Special 1984. It has also similarities to Drakkar Noir and to Lomani P.H. Performance is good! I love it!!!

Amazing fragrance. Classic, clean, refined, unique, safe to wear 24/7/365 Despite the cost, the quality is outstanding. What a gem ! I hope they never discontinue it or reformulate it.

Smells very good ! Old school and natural raw materials. Well made. I'm referring to the vintage stuff. I have never tried the new release.

On the same ballpark as Tsar by Van Cleef & Arpels👌 great green woody scent❤️ has been reformulated lately but I still love it❤️

Smells like Tom Ford's White Patchouli. Great but does not project or last as long as I was hoping for.

After three days on the repurchase of the new version of this masterpiece of contrasts and balances I must say I am very happy and satisfied with this relaunch. Perhaps I was too harsh in my previous post. The reconstruction of this scent has been well done and they have saved the key elements of the fragrance and beveled certain angles too dated. In 1997 I made sniff Enrico Coveri Pour Homme to my Japanese friend who said "it smells like a Shinto shrine". Well, I never had the occasion to breath into a Shinto shrine, but I can imagine and I guess what she means with that sentence. This perfume is sweet balmy and green and almost coniferous expecially when it opens. EC PH always maintaining a fresh-sweet fragrance. It opens with balsamic notes, I could swear to sense stretches of mint, pepper, cypress and jasmine, with pinches of sugar and incense but amazingly neither of these notes are present. Pure magic of a great creation. Holy deception. Leather, lavender, nutmeg, patchouly and amber are quite tangible after the first hour, but there are no notes that lead or dominate the others. A truly unique fragrance, Mediterranean without being rustic, but elegant, calm and soothing. For me it's like having found a lost friend. I know we will still have a lot of good time together.

Good News: Evaflor has bought the rights of Enrico Coveri pour homme, which was officially my second perfume (a "neverending" 100ml as Christmas gift), and brought it to a new deserved life. So finally now it is BACK! And I had for 15€ x 50ml. The bottle is well defined as well. I was happy when I saw it in a soap shop. I saw out of the corner and I thought it was Hommage a l'homme de Lalique, as they made an almost identical bottle, and I immediately took it as "MINE!" Bad News: As supposed. It is a pallid imitation of the original. But it still have "that thing" which make me smile and it is actually the one of the 80s (So maybe not so pallid just a bit different, bit not another one). Must be that airy suede note. The combo between high leather + santal, muscade, basil-like notes.. In some way this is a modern version of the original scent, less daddy, more neutral. A classic, sweet, green-ambery, nutmeg and country flowers, not impossible to wear for teenagers (maybe I say so cause I feel like a seventeen again now), smell just like a summer shower.

One word : dynamic! Reviewing the vintage version in a dark blue bottle. This perfume is more about "that what is not", all that is in between. The sum of it all is just much more than the notes in common. An 80's powerhouse with a mediterranean feel based on moss, amber and leather, but very clean. Opening with lavender and hints of aldehyde-y ozone, followed by sandalwood, cedar, patchouli and geranium and finally drying down on leather and amber with added moss and tonka. Above all these notes lays a subtle "smoky" feel, not like incense but still... Coveri pur Homme shares some similarities with Givenchy Xeryus but does not feel as dated as many perfumes from this era. Performance in terms of both sillage and longevity is excellent. BTW Fragrantica, is there any chance of updating the above picture in very poor resolution ?

Enrico coveri pour homme is like a wise old man among modern perfumes. Sparkling start with a pure lavender. So initially fresh but do not be fooled: The dry-down is something warm so I would recommend this scent for the cold seasons. Although in the 80s the production of perfumes was based on the fragrances of decades before, today we can say that many perfumes want to imitate Enrico Coveri Pour Homme. Highly recommended! Pine is not listed in the note pyramid above, but it certainly very present and even dominant here--combined with the tarragon, this makes for one of those very dark and dense 70s/early 80s fougéres that can be hard to wear now. However, like many of those famous men's fragrances (like Drakkar Noir), this is beautifully blended, and it can also still be had at a great price (it is surprisingly still in production). I just don't know where I would wear this, though.

Very nice. I'd even recommend it. If Aramis Devin is a step toward Halston 1-12 from Polo, this is a step toward Oscar De La Renta from Halston 1-12.That dense conifer thicket with a very mildly soapy smoothness. Like a fresh cut Christmas tree with shavings of Irish spring in the tree stand's water reservoir. I'm tempted to call it a cryptochypre despite the lavender and tonka.

Nice, fresh and cool opening that feels somewhat subdued. Follows a subtle, woody and coniferous heart. Pretty soon the leather comes in, which after one hour and a half is coming on strong and after another hour is feeling imbalanced, usurping its hegemony and actually induces a headache. The scent is on top of that strong and long lived, projecting well over six hours. This fragrance contains an overwhelming, very dense and opaque leather accord with which the fragrance, despite a promising start, gets unpleasant halfway through. Evaflor reformulation. Edit: while the reform's not hopelessly bad, vintage (Euroitalia) is better and the older the better it gets.

This is about the current version. Pleasant enough. Classic/slightly old fashioned. Fairly generic but good. Good value but otherwise nothing spectacular. Reminds me a bit of Richard James Savile Row (I currently have one on each arm) but the latter just has the edge for me

I'm really excited about this one. Just received it in the mail yesterday. Wore it overnight. I'm still unsure how I feel about the cumin-like note in the opening. Maybe with time it will become more blended/harmonious with the other notes. But I don't hate it, it's just new for me. I really like the dry down so far, it's a little less sharp and more musky than I expected. Or maybe leathery and musky, not quite sure. But there is a slight animalic quality that I really like. Can't wait to wear this more and see how the scent develops. So far the performance is quite good. Will update soon. Update: This has improved alot in just a couple days. Particularly the opening, it's less sour/tart than before. This scent has alot of the elements I like in a fragrance. Fresh but dirty, green/herbal, woody, masculine. It also seems old fashioned but somewhat modern at the same time. I think this is one I can actually wear to work/out in public. It's a little daring but not too much. Update 2: Finally wore this to work yesterday, and it was awful. I'm not sure what changed, but it did not smell good on my neck at all. The top notes faded after about 2 hours, then the base notes smelled kind of rancid and animalic in a bad way...almost like a real dead animal beginning to rot. And after that stage, there was a slight cigarette/leather type smell. I was pretty disappointed and self conscious all day lol. Washed my neck as soon as I got home. Maybe it's a skin chemistry thing, but I will not be reaching for this again.

Well....got the Evaflor relaunch a few days ago, and I really want to love it. But I can't, thanks to an overpowering sharp and cold medicinal cumin-like note all the way from the heart through the drydown :( Thank God my vintage bottles of Xeryus and Francesco Smalto doesn't smell like that (hence the numerous comparisons to these which I thankfully cannot detect). Maybe the vintage ECPH smells different (actually containing moss)? "Thanks" to the di**s at IFRA (the idiots association for ruining all fragrances) whose bans and restrictions has ruined this classic as well. Nice job. Still, this hasn't discouraged me. I'm determinately going for the vintage version (and I bet the folks in IFRA do as well) ;) 5/10 - longevity is outstanding, though. I get 16+ hours. Sillage is moderate.

Quorum in another bottle. Spicy Body Odor...In a nice Bgreen bottle. I get no bergamot. That is what I got from this beautiful green bottle... I don't smell any green...it's just spices and brown and strong spices. One spray of this is enough to make you smell funky....I have no idea where you could wear this. I thought the idea was to NOT smell like you haven't showered. This will make you smell like you haven't showered. Do not blind buy this..the only way to spray this on is by either walking into it after misting it on air...or spray 2 feet away from yourself. If you spray on one spot... it's going to smell funky, without the fun...missing all the green smells...

This scent starts with prominent, spicy nutmeg and tarragon top notes. There is a nice fougere profile underneath the spiced herbal notes. Interestingly, this does not smell dated. However, I don’t enjoy this Enrico creation. I agree with @joshuabrian. I get a slight B.O. accord here that is off putting.

Smells really good buried underneath a pretty distinct armpit type of smell. Like cumin. Like a really smelly man that sprayed one spray of body spray on. It’s a no from me.

This is a great fragrance - rare and discontinued, but I was able to get a pristine bottle (100ml) and I am very happy to have it. In the vein of Tsar blended with Vintage Givenchy Xeryus and a touch of Drakkar Noir, three fragrances I highly admire and have in my collection. Powerhouse Woody Aromatic Fougeres from the 1980's - a class of fragrances that smell dated, but I like that retro-vibe. The scent pyramid is as follows - Top Notes Lavender, Bergamot, Tarragon, Clary Sage Middle Notes Geranium, Patchouli, Cedar, Sandalwood Base Notes Moss, Amber, Leather, Musk, Tonka Bean It is true to these notes, with great deep lavender and a touch of classic bergamot on top with Clary Sage and Tarragon bringing in an immediate herbal/green vibe that lasts through the composition. Geranium and Patchouli blend well with cedar integrated in the heart (& just a touch of Sandalwood). The base is very nice, indeed - while retaining the herbal green notes on top and patchouli transcends through to the dry down. Slightly smoky leather and warm amber sit on a nice bed of moss while the touches of musk and tonka bean further deepen and enrich the composition. The entire wearing is excellent with very well-integrated notes. This is where Enrico Coveri Pour Homme stands out...with its harmony and seamless transition to the classic base notes. Impressive. Very classy and dressed up - not as loud as either Tsar or Drakkar Noir (good longevity, but moderate silage). It is a nice aura scent in a full wearing. It wafts up nicely to your nose - a little body heat creates a nice 6"-1' aromatic aura that is wonderfully integrated. Not for casual wear. Although I don't like to compare fragrances - Enrico Coveri Pour Homme is a rare, expensive Vintage gem and I would like to address it similarities & qualities to other excellent, classic compositions. The similarity to Vintage Xeryus in its use of dark lavender, herbs, wood and amber show with great touch the quality that is in this bottle. I find Drakkar Noir to be the most wearable (in current formulation - I only use Vintage DN to layer and accentuate the depth and richness). Tsar's smokiness is great...I have grown more and more fond of it. All are very fresh in my olfactory memory. Enrico Coveri Pour Homme is the Italian-flavored, chic and wonderful rendition of Givenchy, Guy Laroche and Van Cleef & Arpels' French-styled offerings that are actually classic "American" scents from that time period. Covering one aspect of Enrico Coveri, the slight smoky accord, but not as strong as Tsar, while the deep, rich lavender/green/herbal/moss/amber notes keep this scent in the nice olfactory "forest" with a very nice warm undertone. Well made and balanced. Ironically, I feel Enrico Coveri PH smells less nostalgic - more truly European, a bit more quiet and confident (as DN was a US-targeted fragrance - loud and macho). All are wonderful. Drakkar Noir and Tsar have been reformulated and still sell well in the US. Xeryus was reissued by Givenchy in the Les Parfums Mythiques line, although that is a rather poor bottle compared to the Original/Vintage Xeryus. Enrico Coveri PH has never been reformulated and never will be...there is something "special" about this brilliant juice. It is a truly great composition - Scent - 8.5+/10 Sillage - 7.5/10 (more chic, doesn't project too loudly) Longevity - 8/10 Overall - 8+/10. A great composition - precious and rare. A great addition to any collection...but, truly for the aficionado who appreciates very fine classic, 80's Woody Aromatic with fougere qualities. Update: I was wrong. Enrico Coveri (very surprisingly) HAS been reformulated and re-released! This is shocking news that was shared to me by kl99 (with his assessment on top, I feel it is probably a pale ghost of what once was...sadly similar to Givenchy's Vintage formulation of Xeryus). I am wondering what drove this endeavor and who the marketing campaign will target. Never say, never.

I keep trying to supplant this fragrance with something more expensive and modern but it’s very difficult to find something as well rounded and smooth. Most modern colognes smell like they are missing a few ingredients to smell complete. This one just has it all; warm spices and fresh lavender without the powdered sugar vibe that seems to omnipresent in todays men’s fragrances. If you want to smell sophisticated and well put together this is the one. Edit: Tried a spray of Savauge Elxir yesterday, and had to laugh...it’s Coveri PH with some burnt sugar added. Loved it! Edit: the more I wear this fragrance the more I see a thru line to modern blues. If you spray CPH on one hand and ysl Y Edp on the other you will find a lot of similarities. Don’t get me wrong, YSL Y has a very powerful sweet and gingery opening that CPH completely lacks...but it give an hour and they are extremely similar. If you like modern blue fragrances, but dislike their sweetness CPH is an excellent option.

I recieved this by mistake or as a gift? I ordered a bunch of other vintage fragrances from a shop and when going through my ordered fragrances there was this extra bottle. Never heard of this fragrance and figured they threw it in because it's an old brand no one is looking for and they haven't sold one in decades. It was the last one I tried and man is it good! Looking at the notes in suprised that pine isn't one of the notes. Maybe it's the tarragon and something else giving me this illusion? It's a very classy scent. Piney, green and spicy with a feeling of clean, if that makes sense. It lasts forever and it forms a scent bubble around the user. It's not brash and loud like many 80s bangers. At the top I did get a little cat piss note but luckily that faded quick. Although that might be due to it being old. This is a great scent, it's not dated by any means but it's definitely for men 35+ and wearing something smart. 8/10

As said before, Coveri really shares some similarity with Givenchy Xeryus. But unfortunately, It looks like a Xeryus's draft. It starts green (coniferous), cold and within minutes, a floral (and annoying) accord subdues the green notes. It's a bit plastic, if It does make sense. With the base notes, the amber brings some slightly sweet smell that is combined with a fresh "brand-new leather" accord. Everything done in a restrained way... If you can grab a vintage Xeryus's bottle, don't hesitate. You won't need Coveri. P.S: there are rumors that It was relaunched recently. Maybe its reformulation is better than Xeryus's one.

Glad to read all these positive reactions about this relaunch...I didn ́t know there was one! So I was, probably like most of you, totally but pleasantly surprised to encounter it on strawberry-net (100ml for for €27,-). I immediately ordered the current Evaflor version of Enrico Coveri pour Homme. Good memories of this fragrance, hope it is still as beautiful as I can remember. Anyone has any idea what the L ́eau de Enrico Coveri smells like? Saw it next to the pour home on Strawberry. Shame it is not listed here... Have a fragrant day!

Evaflor formulation, which I'm assuming is the "reissue." A bit of an ambery take on the genre (One Man Show, Bowling Green, Montana Parfum d'Homme, Krizia Uomo, etc.), but gentler (though in no way a "weakling). The lavender is not strong but clearly present, as is pine. Overall, at the $20 for 100 ml I paid for my bottle, it would seem to be a good deal, but if you already have one from this genre, you might find this redundant. I seem to enjoy this one more with each wearing!

A scintillating fougere that immediately makes me feel nostalgic upon smelling its opening, a clarion report of lavender, clary sage, and tarragon evoking misty, simpler times, simpler ways, of expression, and of living. A green, coniferous, herbal cloud in time settles into a sumptuous accord of leather, patchouli, and musk, lingering for quite some time but never wearing out its welcome. One of the best of the 80s aromatics.

I feel the similarity with Borsalino Pour Homme ... This is a very nice fragrance that is both classic and contemporary. Classic elegance meets a stable middle-aged man's self-confidence. He is not forced at all and does not want to be in the focus! Rather, it is present but sympathetically communicates with everyone. It is a lovable, resurrected old school that does not want to look any more than it is ....

I was expecting a total brash, green, rugged powerhouse. It opens up very clean and has a fruity like smell. This would be ideal for the spring or summer time. Smells great!

Oakmoss powerhouse. It reminds me of Pinaud Clubman and Musgo Real. A litte bit animalic and smoky.
