Abu Madyan

A very pungent, savory scent of herbs and spices, leather and oud. It literally smells like walking into a middle eastern spice shop - pepper, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, fenugreek, thyme, cumin. Did I mention it's spicy? That last note is conspicuously absent from the Fragrantica breakdown - there's tons of cumin here, but without the body odor sensation. It's actually quite nice. The saffron brings the leather I think, and there is a hint of brown sugar sweetness in the background, probably coming from the styrax. The Indian Oud is beautiful. Not really barny, but full of that good old Hindi pungency, replete with leather, spices and a very slight sour twang. Performance is outstanding - one tiny spritz projects like a bomb. Overall, it is a very masculine, powerful scent but I'm not sure when I would wear this. It literally smells like middle eastern food in perfume form, though I have to give Ensar props on his blending skills - it's smooth and extremely well balanced. Addicting to smell, actually, and quite a zesty olfactive experience. Update: I've finally gotten to try the other two of Ensar's Mystics Collection (Rumi, and Ibn Arabi) and this is my personal favorite of the three. Smells very similar to Ensar's Olde Hind if you're familiar with that one. I really like this a lot.
