EO No 2

EO No 2 Parfum. This is one of the best smells, not perfumes, but smells ever for me. Curious how I never made a dedicated post about it. Granted, I have lost track of all the various iterations and such, I can only speak of the early versions that I own and am familiar with. I still remember when this perfume came around and serious fragheads were dying to get their nose on a natural deer musk perfume. Many tried it and commented that they didn't get the musk whatsoever. I understand that. After years of being fed synthetic musk accords, or worse, white, aka "laundry" musks, our nose needs time to adjust to a natural musk bomb like No 2 is. Moreover, let's not forget that a significant percentage of the population is anosmic to musk and other similar compounds and aroma molecules. My experience with No 2 was much alike. I could not identify the musk on my first 2-3 wearings. But I learned the material in tincture form and some attars. Later, coming back to this, all I could smell was the Musk. Today, it feels so overwhelming, so upfront that I can't smell much of the other stuff in the fragrance. EO 2 is the MUSK. It is an ode to this beautiful, rare, and misunderstood material that boasts tremendous complexity and pheromonal prowess. Everything in this composition plays along but never deters from the main player. Besides the musk, I get plenty of spices (especially cumin and coriander) and woody notes. The second version (2020 or so) does showcase a bit of rose and more up-front tea notes, but I feel that the OG and the Kashmir are pitch dark and butch cutting those "weak" links out. This perfume smells like bottled testosterone. If the Spartans used cologne you be damn sure they sprayed No 2 before charging in battle. This composition feels ultra-masculine and rough. Bone-dry, no sweetness, just a gallop of (slightly urinous) Siberian Musk that saturates a harmonious blend of savory spices and creamy woods. It doesn't get more "close-to-nature" than this. I never smelled anything remotely similar to it. Ever. I don't think there will ever be. Prin's Onthamara comes closest, but that one goes full death metal. This composition is a cultured and sophisticated beast that wages war and hunts during the day but reads and indulges in classical music and meditation during the evenings. FROM RUSSIA WITH HELLA LOT OF (lawful) LOVE.... When I heard Ensar Oud came out with a new fragrance that's all about musk I was both excited and nervous, sceptical and hopeful, and as curious as one can get. You see, I have been searching for that perfectly raunchy, thrilling, erotic, as I love calling "kinky fuckery" musk scent for as long as my fascination with perfume goes back. Lo and behold, nothing came even remotely close to how I have envisioned my perfect scent of lovers embrace. Some musks were too gourmand (Musk Ravageur, which I love dearly, but for other reasons), some were too safe (Musk Aoud, another firm favourite of mine, especially in the Absolue Précieux concentration), some were down right unwearable *for my personal taste* (Salome. I appreciate you deeply, sweet vintage musty furry darling, but you and me, in any close proximity, it is just an impossible situation!) Yet nothing sent those shivers down my spine, trilled me like the touch of a lover, would. EO2 took exactly one whiff to stop me in my tracks. This was it! The initial hit of semi-bitter citrus is joined by most voluptuous, plush, velvety, blood red, jammy, honey speckled roses with wisps of white and green intricately weaved through, and just a touch of pepper to add warmth and spicy nuances to the bouquet. I pick up cloves, hints of cinnamon and cumin which works so incredibly well with the sweet, resinous, and almost chewy heart of the composition. It keeps that initial freshness but not in a carefree, playful, summer scent type of way; but a more grown up, darker, self assured kind. Before you know, somewhere between the floral, spicy, resins laden heart and the base, the true magic happens!! The star of the show - musk - comes tumbling and crashing in with such force, its presence cannot be denied. But then again, why would one want that!? Beautiful, sensual, soft fuzzy feel with hints of that sweetish, slightly urinous signature of real musk, one which smells so raw and unstripped, just like the mother nature intended, envelops the composition in its spell... EO2 is so seductive, no limits nor restrictions, it should come with a warning label....

Parfum review. I am in the minority that love this perfume much more than EO1. For me, all its notes are so harmonized and complement to each other. I enjoy every single phrase, from the citrusy rosewood puncturing the ambery spicy opening, the rose playing peep a boo, the syrupy jasmine, to the sumptuous sandalwood and resinous oud drydown. The high quality musk is so recognizable for vintage perfume lovers like me. It is an undertone that does not draw attention but to strengthen the overall composition. I totally agree with RogerM72’s orchestra conductor analogy. Some perfumes have wow factors and contagious energy like rock and roll while others elegant and homophonic like classical music. Imho EO 2 is the latter which could be perceived as boring. It may not be for everyone’s taste but definitely a must-try for those who appreciate exquisite materials. EDP version This one really impressed me. On my skin the opening was fairly dominated by coriander and cumin, with a slight pepperiness and baking spice. the spiciness is rounded off by a lovely rose and just a hint of jasmine. I detect some woodiness as well, but it's difficult to pick out individual notes. All of this is supported by (if not subservient to) a refined animalic muskiness, which over time the other notes eventually soften into. Towards the end of the wear, the composition becomes a bit resinous, sweet, and slightly leathery. I assume this is attributed to the labdanum, oud, and sandal melding with the deer musk. This reminded me of the dark forest coriander/woods aspect of Memoir Man and the sexy cumin/musk aspect of Salome by Papillon, but with a next level luxuriousness of a big dose of deer musk. EO2 is definitely among the best of musk-based fragrances.

As opposed to the review of the great rbalkris, I must say that my nose distinguish very well the musk note, especially if sprayed twice. It is true that lots of other notes accompany the musk, but to me it feels very prominent and authoritative, as if it was an orchestra director to whom all the other notes, single musicians, look at and obey to his leading and at the same time tame him. I agree with rbalkris when it comes to quality and I feel to add that the blending is superb. Thank you EO for having us smell the true stuff. Price is a little too high, though, please bear in mind that true perfume lovers doesn't mean wealthy people.

This is a work of art ! A true masterpiece. EO is just in a league of his own in my opinion. This is the only musk fragrance you need a fantastic musky animalic leather rose done to perfection. It is exactly how i would imagine royalty would scent themselves in the old days, a very regal scent indeed. Performance lasted a solid 10 hours with very noticeable sillage. Delighted with this one.

2018 EO2 PP: Extremely heavy in spices, a cloves bomb, not getting as many Musks as the latest C&P PP/EDP. This original EO2 PP shares a lot of similarity as Ellen Covey's Devil Scent project, more specifically the Dev 1/2/3. There isn't much complexity to be had from this original formula. Performance is great for a natural perfume. Will see how the new batch of 2020 Fall version compares.

One musk to end the all musk game that’s how I feel like about EO no 2.Either you going to love it or absolutely hate it.Cumin and Coriander is the star of the show with sweaty musk.Nothing can replace like experiencing real musk.I find it’s been addictive in nature.Just skip it if you are not into spice or animalic perfumes.You will be enjoying this for hours with one single spray.

EO No 2 (EDP) is a garden of earthly and heavenly delights. The tangy, subtle sweetness in the citrusy opening heralds a dignified and refined rose smoke. These notes are accompanied by a sublime musk that abides to the very end (at least 10 hours). Ageless, noble refinement - but there’s a party going on here as well. Crazy good juice.

Many of us have come across a siren, rocker, either singer or bass player, that had a succubus grip on our male attention. Wild eyes, with pheromonal command in her animal skin. This is the scent inside the leather lining of her pants... If you are too prude for this, this scent isn't for you or you just haven't lived.

The good: EO2 is a blend that is nice and furry. it has depth in it, but at the same time it is light like a veil. to simply describe it - bright, spicy, rosy, cat. it is hard to break down notes, from what i can more or less detect - main place here would definitely belong to spices and musk. rose and leather are present but edges are basically non existent. longevity on my hungry skin is around 8 hours, so most can expect more than that. musk is not anything stinky, its soft like cats fur. i definitely like what came out of it. The bad: No development, its flat start to finish. Silage is very quiet, maybe 3 inch from the skin so people around you might not even notice it, but owner can always feel the presence. The Ugly: There is already a blend that is 95% exactly like this one, for fraction of the price. Olympic Orchid offers Devils project 1. its like EO2 maybe even has more interesting twist. it has better silage, same longevity and cost is a steal compared to this. the only difference is that this one is a bit more furry, but overall i am pretty bummed out. i didnt want to believe that thats it, so i gave it time, maybe all the naturals will evolve, but they didnt. to some money is no problem, to others its a big deal. i say if you want OE2, but not willing to pay premium - try out OOP Dev project 1.

It took me a while to appreciate this beauty. First I was a bit underwhelmed but then I tried it again (Parfum concentration) after a month and my opinion has changed. This one is an Oriental musk with high quality ingredients. The best news for animalic lovers is that it does contain real Russian deer musk (bits of the gland are there in the Parfum bottle). If there is a downside, it is slightly overwhelmed with a plethora of notes including spicy coriander and pepper, rose, jasmine, leather and civet. The final result is a juice which feels more spicy Oriental than musk, but after settling for a month the musk has begun to emerge in its full glory. Unisex with moderate to strong projection and good longevity. An exceptional animalic musk. Only for animalic lovers. Enjoy!

This is old news in a old bottle.What is to be said about the perfume is already said, so i don't get the point of what DB 1212 is trying to do, by repeating the same old story told by so many others.I guess he woke up to late to the party, realising all the good guys were gone😅.Dont get me wrong, this is a masterpiece, which is stated decades ago😇

Disappointed with this one :-( Smells pretty good at first and has promise but after time it starts taking on a piss note all the way to the end. This like EO #1, the longevity is just OK and the sillage is non-existent. I had high hopes for this brand especially since they cost a fortune but in the end I'm let down.

Musc et cuir. That’s what it is for me. Dark, elegant and sumptuous. A class above. This is what I would call, a well-bred creation. I hear people saying, the juice smells exactly like the leather outside the bottle. Well, that’s bona fide. It smells just like the leather, indeed. EO 2 has a baroque fanciful feel to it. When you smell something like this, you understand what true artisanal perfumery is, at it’s very peak. I ordered a sample from Lucky scent when it first came out. I don’t know whether the sample was oxidized, or the top notes went flying off the vial, only thing I could smell was sandalwood and musk. To me, it smelt exactly like an old musk-santal maceration I have, with some spices(coriander) and floral nuisances. I have quite a few macerations, hidden in a dark cupboard, aging away to perfect ripeness. I’ll try to make my own ghaliya someday. Back to EO 2, I really liked my sample. It had all the fixings that I adore. But, somehow, I could not justify paying that much money. I do know, what class of ingredients went into it. Even then, I could not convince myself to get a bottle. A few weeks passed by. I was talking to one of my friends. He lives in LA, not a perfume snob. Visited a friend of his, who happened to have a bottle of EO2. He was really impressed and was singing praises. He says, “That is the perfume you should have, if you like good perfumes. It smells like something a Maharaja would wear to his court.”. I dismissed. Then he says, “Ok, If you don’t like it, give it to me. Order a bottle”. Bottom line is, I was convinced of getting a bottle. I am so glad that I did get a bottle. The juice in the bottle smells nothing like what I sniffed from the sample vial. The juice, or should I say Elixir, in the bottle is an excellent creation of an adept guru. I sprayed three spritz on my forearm. Dark brown liquid, full of oils, imparts a sheen to the skin. At first, the sweet citrus effervescence hit me. It’s not lemony citrus, it’s something different. To me, it smells like a pink grapefruit zest was crushed together with coriander and pink peppercorns in a molcajete. The notes in this are so enmeshed together, I could not really single out the notes. I smelt Rose, but not quite the rose I am used to. I smelt Jasmine. But this jasmine is not neat. Jasmine fused with something else. Once, the animalic jasmine ends and civet takes the reigns. This perfume has so many layers, no wonder, any perfume reviewer hasn’t taken up almost impossible task of note breakdown of this perfume. The base notes are pissy civet and musk. I guess, this is the part that makes this scent quite a polarizing creation. Some loved it to the core, and some thought it was just a misadventure. To me, it was something oddly unique and remarkable. I haven’t sniffed anything like this or even close to this. And, I can say that about EO1 and Thai tabac too. These are the ones I have tried from Ensar yet and hold very close to my heart. These perfumes are a class apart. As a perfumer, Ensar is knowledgeable and bold, and that exactly shines in his perfumes. All in all, I think this perfume is special and am very glad I tried it. I am pissed that not everybody was able to know it. To each their own. By the way, I kept my bottle and did not give it to my friend from LA. He bought his own bottle after some time.

What I find striking about EO2 is the way Ensar has chosen to highlight the minty, refreshing aspects of deer musk juxtaposed with the intensity of an Emperor’s spice cabinet. Thick, warm fuzzy spices drenched in an animalic musk with such three dimensional depth you could cut the scent with a knife. Smooth as butter but sharp as blade, there’s an umami flavored absinthe ala black licorice and red cumin laced opening that sends your nostrils into a frenzy of olfactory bliss. So much bliss I get a shot of endorphins and feel my heart start to flutter. It’s fragrant experiences like this one which bring such comfort in a way no other perfume has effected me. Ensar Oud has created a masterpiece. The heart of EO2 is cumin laced Mysore with sweet ambery warmth. Black pepper, cloves and anise round out a stunning accord that immediately proceeds the bitter green necrotic floral and black licorice opening. It’s hard to pin down the complexity here but ultimately it’s a spice lovers dream. Oud doesn’t seem to play a key role in this composition however you do get nuances of both Mysore and Agarwood. While some might not smell the musk upfront it provides not only a textural quality but also a sparkling fizz akin to opening a fresh can of soda. Warm, resinous fur and scorching hot peppers slowly transition into a delectable gourmand drydown that calls to mind women’s scarves in the 1930’s. Not a single moment of this fragrant journey is devoid of rich olfactory depth. If you’re looking for performance you’ll get it here in spades. Spray a high quality wool sweater or scarf and be prepared to smell EO2 for at least 3-4 months. That’s not an exaggeration. Ensar is truly a genius.

A Majestic Scent: Ensar Oud EO No 2 Pure Parfum Ensar Oud's EO No 2 Pure Parfum is a potent, concentrated work centred on Siberian deer musk. This concentration uses a heavy dose to deliver its characteristic depth and richness. The musk drives the composition but is heavily accented by spice, with cumin dominating the blend. EO No 2 is considered a reference point for enthusiasts who prioritise material integrity and seek a singular natural musk perfume. This fragrance offers a powerful, enduring statement, remaining an authentic dark presence on the skin long after application.

We always talk about a reference perfume, a point by which we judge and rank similar or say same category scents. When it comes to Musk based scents, my reference point was Koh-e-Noor, a classique from a genius which is extremely difficult to find these days. This was until i got the chance not only to sniff but also acquire an official tester of EO No. 2 by another genius, brother Ensar. EO No. 2 EDP (there is also a Pure Parfum version), is considered a polarizing fragrance not only by conventional perfumery standards but also in the Artisanal Community. To me, this is highest form of perfumery art. It sends shivers down my spine, every time a take a sniff of it. The opening is slightly pickle like which comes as off putting but that soon recedes making way for an aromatic spicy accord with pure deer musk lurking around in the background. Out of this spicy accord, cumin and coriander comes as most prominent. As we reach heart of the fragrance, musk comes forwards in its full glory and engulfs you into an animalic aura which when sniffed closely, feels like a skin over a skin. The above description may sound too much for you but guess what, it will be too much for majority. Does that fact make this a bad fragrance? Well its up to you and if you perceive fragrances as just something that will make you smell good or your think of them as piece of art. I myself, fall into latter category, so for me, EO No.2 is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Resinous, soft, smokey, dry, mossy, musky and well blended. Great fragrance. A bit too butch for me, but appealing and well rounded. Feels a little incomplete. Returning back to this perfume (applied to my handkerchief and carried around with me at an arm's distance), I find it just as amusing as before. It is basically an extreme Musk with a capitol 'M', with the following interesting properties: when you smell it up close, it is very butch, tough and leathery, but when you smell it from afar, it is extremely soft and gently floral. Again, I can't imagine just wearing this by itself because it feel so simple. It demands to be worn in conjunction with other scents that are more fruity, floral, fresh and varied in their top notes.

Review is for the EDP. Getting this out of the way, this is grail level musk for me. This opens spicy with some cumin and clove, mixed with some lovely jasmine and rose, transforming into a slightly resinous leather heart, this is where the musk enters and blows me away. As it developed the musk and civet became strong on me. Taking on an ever so slight piss note... But in the best way possible. This is the Swedish supermodel of piss. Lasted for nearly 24 hours on my skin... I know this is the minority, but hey This smells like power, this smells like authority. This is absolutely at the top end of quality for animalic perfumes in my collection.

Hits first with spicy coriander then settles to spicy roses with musky background. The colder it goes the roses becomes prominent, like a sharp noir roses. It becomes quite a night vision roses. This blend is tricky! when i first applied it, the top note was confusing and bit chaos! i though it was just another chaotic blend that the perfumer mixed the rest of what he has on the table instead of throwing them! but after around 5 minutes in... It became quite prestigious! Like sitting in an opera house and sniffing the elegance of dreamful essences! Pretty amused discovering this house!

Don't overspray, wore it for the first time and my wife complained it was too strong. I applied about. I will wear again soon with less sprays as she thinks it will be very nice. I love it and is one of my prized collections.
