Rumi

Rumi is an incredible boozy ambered gourmand offering from Ensar. Rich, spicy cacao smoothed out with silky, creamy coffee intermingles with an incredible jammy Rose note. A feat that all too often feels forced yet here neither the chocolate, coffee or Rose dominates the other. Instead you get an ambered liqueur doused in tobacco laced coffee. Ensar has a chosen a new direction with Rumi. A direction that sees contemporary western fragrances feeling not quite so distant from the usual Eastern oud offerings. A floral bouquet steeped in Tibetan musk grains provides an incredible lift to the opening materials which allow them to sing above all the heavy gourmand notes. You won’t find any mud or chaos here. Instead there’s a uniqueness that’s missing from many of today’s gourmands especially in this overall theme; a theme which has been played out for quite a while. A thin but mighty veil of tobacco overlays the entire heart with a rich loose leaf blonde tobacco accord while Cambodian Oud and ambergris lend a dried fruit and salty nuance to the already jammy apricot. The heart of this fragrance presents a gorgeous white floral and coffee note which becomes noticeable as the Rose fades into the background. A gentle earthy Petrichor nuance gives way to an incredible white chocolate and amber drydown. If you love EO2 you’ll be familiar with the labdanum and ambergris drydown. Rumi is quite literally one of the best gourmand’s in the artisanal arena and it’s truly a departure from everything we’ve seen from Ensar in the past.
