I present to you, four remarkably similar fragrances 1. BDK Gris Charnel - Rich nutty tonka bean, sentimental sandalwood accords, gourmand fig and cardamom, and a final char layed on by a slightly bitter black tea. Seductive and warming 2. BDK Gris Charnel - Same with an added harsh char from patchouli. Waay too much for me 3. Jo Malone Passiflora - Similar, with a harsh patchouli interruption but also lightened by various white florals. Has been described as summer's Gris charnel 4. EPC Black Nagarmotha - On paper, this fragrance only shares superficial similarities with the gris charnels: cardamom, cinamon, powdery floral, and wood. In practice I find this to be an almost perfect dupe for the OG Gris Charnel. With the exception of that seductive quality to the OG Gris Charnel that leaves one thinking of clear grey skies and wanting to surround oneself in that warming, nutty fragrance, Black Nagarmotha works as a high quality dupe that stands on its own sturdy legs with regard to sillage and longevity. The singular issue is that it turns faintly sour in the drydown which is also overwhelming and doesn't leave one asking for more. PS. I have to acknowledge that EPC Cardamom Moss, which I cannot stand on its own or in any other blend, has contributed two parts out of eight to this blend. Evidently that is a ratio in which I can handle EPC Cardamom Moss.

This one takes you on a trip. Opens with a pungent almond note that fortunately softens very quickly. Becomes more sweet with the drydown. A hint of booziness appears. Just the right amount of spicy and leathery. Soft green woodiness. Somehow smells of something decaying and something tart at the same time. Super niche and definitely not for everyone. Not my thing but I can appreciate a unique, well blended scent.

Very mysterious and low- key seductive unisex fragrance! The Tonka and Cardamom notes are very well blended together here - the whiffs of this keep me coming back for more: resembles the sophisticated Gris Charnel as dries down. Lasts all day!
