Poudre

This is another of the TPG Mystery Box wins. If you look of the notes of Poudre by Epichron, a Hong Kong/Taiwanese house, you'd think this would be quite a thick, powdery orris/iris based scent that is probably fairly sweet and earthy. There is a citrus head with some rose and some butter, orris and some earthy and aromatic notes in the heart and a white wood and musk base with some hedione, vetiver, some smoothing fixatives and patchouli. So it looks and sounds pretty serious doesnt it? You're expecting a lot of sweetness and eponymous powderiness and a lot of rich and heavy textures in the base. Amazingly, that is not what this fragrance is about at all. The name is playful. It is the absolute opposite of whatever powdery iris/orris, musk and ambrette is. It is a very bright and carefree run in a grassy summer meadow and the iris and powdery notes are there as an exhibition to show how well the perfumer, Nathalie Feisthauer, can make them work with the bergamot (I swear I can smell orange blossom in the head as well), the cardamom, the carrot, the rose extract, the heliotrope, the cedar and so on. It is a masterclass in demonstrating how the character of iris, rose and musk changes in a relationship with other things. It dries down more floral than anything else. What you are left with is a really fine, very unisex fragrance that works for any occasion. It is sweet but fresh sweet not powdery. I'd say it leans feminine but I think a confident guy could easily wear this. Three Word Summary - Fresh Not Powdery Layering Suggestion - Santal Noir by Dior. Wow, I just received a sample of this, and oh yeah -It's an instant love! Opens clean, & bright, but creamy- light musk, a gentle hit of anise, lotion, light baby powder, hint of woods popping thru -it's peaceful, calming, and very put together. I think this would be easy to wear anytime; work, play, travel, etc. It's unique enough to my little collection, that I think a full bottle is in the future. Fantastic.

i recently went to taipei to finally test the one day perfumes as well as the relatively new epichron perfumes. i don’t really know how to describe this perfume but all i can say is that i could not stop smelling my wrist after testing it and it has such an addicting scent that i couldn’t get enough of... longevity is also really good. but why oh why must this fragrance be outside of my budget 😭😔

Oh this is beautiful!! Earthy iris powder with a warmth to it. Nods to a vintage era but not stuffy at all. Just like the rest of the line, this is stunning and changes on the skin throughout the day.

lovely. the top is very fresh, where I pick up citrus zest and the spicy-fresh woodiness of cardamom. It's a very evenly textured aroma- nothing pokes out, very smooth. Eventually some of the bitterness from the woods and bergamot is met with a butter note. It's subtle but it's there, providing an interesting warm fattiness that feels comforting, skin-adjacent maybe. It's not overwhelmingly creamy, but possibly a tad salty. Maybe that's just my brain making the association though. Anyways, the whole thing remains nicely cool-toned and aromatic, with the carrot and hedione and rose lending a nice floral-earthy heart that continues some of that ethereal, translucent prettiness from the top notes. It never gets too finely powdered and dense, which I appreciate, and the base notes are hard to separate. I end up smelling a bit of a waxiness with a sweet-almond nuance from the heliotrope, but again it comes and goes within the green-floral woody drydown. Honestly the brand's description is pretty well-written and straightforward for what I'm smelling. It ends up at a musky, resinous, powdered-wood aroma with lingering crisp bitterness up close. The vegetal aspects are very mild but give it some unique character, however nowhere near the heavier orris impressions I've gotten from other perfumes that center the note. It doesn't go into that territory of damp basement roots and cultured creams. I'll have to give this a full wear tomorrow but I'm liking it so far.

This is a light fluffy almost soap bubble kind of iris. A clean laundry skin scent iris. It is very pretty. Even with the base notes, there's not enough weight underneath to ground this one. It floats. A little too light and airy for me. I was hoping this would be a little more woody, incense-y of an iris. But alas. If you light really light airy scents, this is probably a safe blind buy. It's very wearable, and inoffensive, office friendly,
