Don't Call Me Oud

Don't Call Me Oud offers an intriguing fragrance experience. Yes, there is definitely oud present in this composition. It features the woodier variety of oud, layered on top of some underlying sweetness that enhances the overall aroma. This particular scent is their interpretation of the familiar combination of oud, saffron, rose, and tonka bean. From the very first moments, this one had me captivated by its opening notes. In the opening, you can expect a delightful blend of saffron combined with a more Western interpretation of woody oud. In addition, there is a pleasant sweetness lurking in the background, which flows through from the tonka bean, vanilla, and caramel notes. This sweetness particularly reminds me of JPG Elixir, a fragrance that I personally enjoy very much. The different notes are well blended through to the dry-down stage, creating a harmonious and pleasant scent journey. Moreover, both longevity and projection of this fragrance are impressive. I made sure to sample it thoroughly before committing to a full bottle.

I get oud, caramel with tonka, and violet as the main players in this fragrance. The scent is dense and woody sweet at the same time. The violet that is very perceptible in the opening and mid dies down towards the base and you are left with tonka prominent woodiness. The oud here is tame, not barnyard skanky. I find it to be more of a winter/fall scent and slightly feminine leaning due to the sweetness. The performance is quite good especially on clothes.

On my skin, it is boozy, woody and gourmand at the same time. I like the opening more than the dry down. On tester paper strip, it is more inky like Kenzo Pour Homme OG. After a full day wear, I note similarities with TF Black Lacquer and especially with Roberto Cavalli Uomo Golden anniversary

Is this inspired by or a dupe of Vertus- Vanilla Oud? Notes are nearly identical.. Hm interesting .
