Fragile Violet

I love love love Violet!! I got it when it first launched with the glass stopper which is oh so perfect for the antiques lover in me, but I do regret it since my cat likes to "play" at my vanity and gives me agita whenever she walks past it, so please for anyone reading just get the spritzing kind! unless you want to use museum wax so you can only stare at it!...that's if you have a cat lol. Now for the review, what can I say... Violet is a whimsical scent, on me it's like a warm/aquatic/honeyed violet, it's like walking into a faerie garden rich with wisteria, violets, lotuses in ponds with lots of berry bushes, and mandarin trees, but there is this natural mystique, something indescribable.. perhaps magical.. it is just a beauty of a scent! When purchased it was a deep gorgeous purple but now it's turned into a dark azure blue.. I didn't like that, but it's to be expected, and the scent is still beautiful. Buterbaugh approaches his scents with this botanical purity that I really admire, I definitely need many more. 💜

Beautiful. Lovely gentle flowers, including violet, and very lovely fruit and tea. I love it. And the colour!!! Wow! Stunningly beautiful purple!!

I was quite surprised that this one ended up being my least favorite of the 5 Buterbaughs I've tried. It is still quite pretty – don’t get me wrong – but on my skin, this one is much less an ode to violet then it is a white tea-citrus fragrance with a very slight hint of violet. It is lovely for what it is, but I wanted MORE violet! It’s a shame, too, because the juice of this one is a dark, velvety purple that is absolutely STUNNING in the bottle. If you are looking for a white-tea and citrus scent that's a bit different from the Bvlgari line, definitely try Fragile.

I was really disappointed in this one. I was hoping for a fragrance with a more pronounced violet note, and it just doesn't deliver. The strong citrus and tea opening reminds me of '90s mass market fragrances. It's pleasant, but not unique. The dry down is a mulberry musk. Only in the middle do I notice the florals, and the violet note is very faint or maybe even only hinted at. It has good staying power on my skin. Maybe I'll appreciate it more come springtime, when the fresh citrus tea notes are more season appropriate.

Fruity sweet violet opening, dry down is a sweet musky violet. There is an overall aquatic vibe to Fragile Violet, maybe the tea note is causing that sensation. Bottle color is gorgeous, but I’m not in love with the scent. I like it which is not enough for me to purchase.

Wow! Very pretty, delicate floral. I also definitely get the hint of mandarin too which gives it a slightly juicy smell. If you really like florals and the smell of real flowers, you will enjoy it.

A very unique fragrance that's mainly white tea and white musk to my nose. There are some other perhaps floral notes that blend in and make the whole fragrance seem very discordant. I liked the citric top notes, but after a few minutes something unpleasant comes through and spoils the fresh and clean beginning. I don't smell violet leaf or notes that are commonly used to denote violet flower. So I get nothing violet in this except the color of the perfume. And it's not as deep a purple as is shown in the photos. My reaction to this one is a complete opposite to Sultry Rose, which is a total love for me. So far of the two from this line I've tested, they really are surprisingly different from expectations and just reading the notes. You must sample!

Short version: If you like grassy green and watery vibes, you most likely will like this perfume. Also, it sits close to the skin. Mostly a spring/summer scent because of how aquatic and grassy it is. Long version: The accords that jump out on my skin are green and aquatic; all the others are lost. I only smell the tea and lotus notes. On my skin it’s a very watery and grassy perfume. It smells like a mix of fresh cut grass near a river. I haven’t tested very many tea perfumes, but from the few I have tested they are not for me. Also, green perfumes are not for me. Which makes sense why I don’t like this perfume at all, or why those notes are overpowering anything else going on that I cannot smell any other notes. This smells to me like I’ve been outside all day, probably laying in the grass, soaking up the sun. I imagine it would be best suited to wear in the spring and summer, the times of year someone would be laying on grass, soaking up the sun. I don’t find this to be a strong perfume at all; it doesn’t project and there isn’t any sillage. It sticks pretty close to the skin, at least on my skin.

This is a really metallic violet to my nose. I have some beautiful perfumes with violets in my collection, and was hoping this would be like those, but a soliflore. Sadly it doesn't work on me. I only have a small decant, so not a big deal, but was disappointed. It smells almost like a deodorant I used to wear--that sort of metallic deodorant smell. That said, I know some people who absolutely love this fragrance, so YMMV.
