Thorns Rose

The rosewater note dominates for the first half hour after I apply it. It's an exact duplicate of an old fashioned rosewater and glycerine lotion smell. It clashes horribly with the tropical passion fruit note. After the heavy rosewater note fades, everything begins to blend together into a pleasant rose focused floral fruity fragrance. This is when I can't stop sniffing my wrist. If it were this scent from start to finish, it'd be a winner. Unfortunately, it only lasts a few hours before breaking down into a slightly rosy musky base. Nice, but IMO, not nice enough to justify the price tag of a full bottle.

The notes are identical to Sultry Rose, also from this brand, but it is completely different. While they both start out as fruity roses, this goes into a different direction where it is sharp beneath a smooth surface, as if you can smell the thorns. Or what your mind's eye envisions as thorns. Whereas Sultry Rose winds up true to its name, this ends up smelling like a florist rose right out of the fridge. Very cold, a little aquatic, not strong on the rose scent either. Still, it is pretty after my nose and brain adapts to the fact that I was not going to be smelling a typical rose fragrance. It also makes sense why Eric approved this rose since I am sure this brought to mind the roses he works with every day. It is a true florist rose. If you are looking for silage and longevity, you are not going to find it here. That's very unusual for this brand. Most perform great, whereas this wears close to the skin throughout its few hours of wear. If it performed better, it would be a like. As it is now, it is just okay. Fortunately, I only invested in a travel sprayer.
