It is a decent and complex incense vanilla, gourmand incense or woody amber however you wish to classify it, it can be all those. It has impressed me with its very smooth blending but ultimately I found it a little boring for my personal tastes and derivative of one fragrance I have in my collection and another I find it similar to. I have Reyane Tradition Insurrection (the original yellow liquid in the crassly novel bottle) a strong, spicy, resinous and smokey vanilla that smells almost exactly like the vanilla base in this one. And then there is Les Indemodables Musc Des Sables, another Lie creation that is a sweet and powdery ambergris affair with earthy nuance which reminds me of the Ambergris half of this fragrance. For me this is wearable, although I can’t get over the fact that I’m learning that spicy, vanilla, incense fragrances make me a bit queasy and I feel queasy by the opening of Mxxx. I believe the vanilla incense in this is a little loud for me and comes across as saccharin instead of smokey since the sweet vanilla with festive spices make me unable to train myself to notice it as smokey. But my queasiness subsides once the introduction cloud settles and it becomes a very lovely, buttery, vanilla. In the opening it is very mace, vanilla and incense heavy opening like a much sweeter Epic Man from Amouage that smells bracingly spicy to the point of being burnt, then it settles to an incensy, earthy, fatty, sweet vanilla with a powdery nuance. Its earthy qualities smell of ground cocoa and its fatty qualities smell of sweaty skin with Nivea cream or sustain lotion applied contributed by the fatty ambergris, and gamey castoreum, and hyraceum. I think it is an innocent raunchiness not "x-rated" as it contains hints of a present moisturized skin odor that is tempered with an amber incense edge which is rather pleasing, comforting. In the end, it kind of reminds me of caramel popcorn. Delicate, sweet, savory, buttery and warm. I am unsure how often I’d want to visit this one because I find myself forgetting about it quite often. I can’t see myself wearing it enthusiastically since it is a bit of a chore persisting through the opening with my queasiness and being left with what to me is just a good, vanilla gourmand, incense. But I can easily see this one smelling like "Christmas Bottled" to others as it is a good, very festive, liturgical and warm spicy vanilla. With Mxxx I have found a vanilla that doesn’t quite suit me yet even though it has one of the most intriguing scent pyramids I’ve ever seen. Maybe it will grow on me. I would not describe myself as a vanilla lover in general so finding a vanilla that works for me is quite rare. Nevertheless I am interested in trying more from the brand namely Scorpio Rising. 8.5/10 Edit: Coming back to this one and it has really, really grown on me! It's quite different every time I wear it. Sometimes the incense, vanilla and castoreum start with a slightly urinous facet but in a fantastically balanced fashion with very eccentric character manifesting a very retro-but-modern feel. I now find some beautiful gamey liturgical smokiness about it from a spicy mace and saffron working with the rooty and spicy Trinidad cocoa absolute. In this mixture the vanilla is boosted and exaggerated allowing for an uplifting, creamy and bright spicy zen quality. It is a very complex scent and I shamefully called it "Boring" and didn't understand it at first. An admittedly shy and delicate profile but it lasts a long time and it lingers discretely. It is extremely complex and balanced like a pandora's box of vanilla and incense. Though, it still has something "behaved" about it that holds it back for me. In some cases that may be its strength! In a way its behaved-ness does a sort of gourmand transformation like caramel popcorn or gingerbread or chocolate cake with chocolate icing but it stays fancy. I still believe it has resemblance to Musc des Sables but excitingly Mxxx is more raw and ultimately unique. This has become one of my most favorite vanillas. I want it now. Creamy, smokey, realistic, savory, zen, holy. 9.5/10 Edit: F**k being misbehaved. I adore this smell😭. 🍿🍫🕯 10/10

I likened Mx., Mxxx.'s predecessor, to a watercolor painting. It had very broad strokes of notes that overlapped in some slightly sloppy and amateurish ways like watercolor paints soaking into the paper and blending into something unintentional. However, the amateurish nature came across as puerile and playful, heartwarming and happy, rather than technically disappointing. It's a highly enjoyable piece of work that won't ever be found on a museum wall; most of us would rather hang the drawing or watercolor from a very young loved one on our refrigerator than a Jan van Eyck oil masterpiece anyway. The novice watercolor tugs at our heartstrings in more meaningful ways. Mxxx., though, is a van Eyck: stupendously accurate and precise, and richly colored. The opening of Mxxx. is virtually the same as Mx., but it's done by van Eyck. The ginger with its citrusy and earthy piquancy, the saffron with its floral woody characteristics, the olibanum with its funky green resins, and pepper that is fruity and tight, are all accounted for but just "more" - richer and better detailed and stitched together seamlessly rather than overlaying each other as in Mx.. A new and curious character is in this mix, mace, adding a deeper, warmer, and aromatic facet to the opening that makes the whole feel as though the light has been dimmed a bit, but the dimming creates shadow contrasts allowing the whole to be richer. The heart has been given the same van Eyck treatment, with the cocoa note of Mx. present in this section of Mxxx. instead of the base as it was in Mx. The cocoa has been amplified significantly. In Mx., to my nose, it was barely distinguishable, but in Mxxx., juxtaposed next to richer cedar and sandalwood, it creates bitter fruity, earthy and floral tones that play with the creamy and peppery aspects of the sandalwood and cedar very well. Then, finally at the base, we have an amber given the same van Eyck treatment. I must say that I am not pulling as much of an ambergris note that everyone else is. I am mainly getting the patchouli, benzoin, vanilla, and light leathery animalics. There are slight musky and salty undertones, but to be able to separate that from the vetiver note, also present, and the light leather is difficult for my nose. However, the base is gorgeous - richly hued, expertly composed, very smooth, suave, and elegant. Van Eyck's works lacked one thing that Mxxx. has: sexiness. Van Eyck's works could actually be said to go in the opposite direction - to be so regal, prim and proper that the works lack any of the messiness that comes with emotion and sexuality. Mxxx. is not a hot-and-red-blooded beast hell-bent on ravaging someone, but you can feel the pulse pushing the hot red blood to its face and nether regions. It's a wonderful composition and one of, if not the best in the Eris line.

Before sampling Mxxx, I'd anticipated a potent, brooding, masculine, animalic amber. For starters, it boasts a massive 7% dose of tinctured Ambergris and even contains a measure of Hyraceum (i.e., petrified rodent dung). Heavy stuff. Big guns. And moreover, just listen to how the creators describe it: "Mxxx pushes dark sensuality to a new limit. Surrender to its beauty!” – Antoine Lie, perfumer “Mxxx [turns the lights] down low and the animalic growl up.” — Barbara Herman, creative director Sounds like a dark, intoxicating, feral brew, right? Well, when I finally sampled Mxxx, I was taken by surprise. The actual effect is quite the opposite: light, airy, unisex, and absolutely brimming with life. The animalics impart neither skank nor scat nor sex; rather, they impart a gentle demur *vitality*. That heavy dose of ambergris, in particular, makes this fragrance feel alive--an extension of the wearer--his aura--her halo. Vanilla and cacao are the other chief notes--these are nuanced with ginger, pepper, and saffron then served on a platter of sandalwood and vetiver--yet Mxxx is far from a typical gourmand and is most emphatically *not* a dessert fragrance. Even so, if you sprayed this over shrimp and rice I would probably try to eat it (hyraceum notwithstanding). This is a 20% extrait concentration that wears like an EDT. Nothing else really smells like this; but, in terms of effect, for me Mxxx 'scratches the same itch' as Diptyque's Tam Dao and Zoologist's Squid (which is funny because those two are so dissimilar). I found this to be easily full-bottle worthy; it is now my routine office fragrance. Yet another triumph for the consistently excellent (and consistently unpredictable) Antoine Lie, a true genius and living legend. 9/10.

I've always loved the idea of gourmands but I often find them too sweet, sickly and overbearing. I was close to writing off gourmands completely until I smelled this. This was just a random blind by from a sample set with no expectations. On strip I just got some gentle animalic notes and not too much else and put it to the side. Decided to spray it on skin and give it a full go, and I'm delighted to discover how wonderful this is on skin. The opening hits you briefly with a strong dose of warm nutmeg and spices, that admittedly I'd have loved to get more than a couple of seconds of as I keep wanting to reapply, and then after a few seconds the spices settle and you are finally met with a wall of strong clean waxy ambergris and cacao that comes together to smell like a high-end chocolaterie. There is no cheap sugary sweetness to it at all. Just a warm cacao with a vanilla blanket. Underneath all of this is an animalic base that never becomes stinky or dirty. The hyraceum just adds this warm hug to the overall experience creating a close and comforting feel, and giving it a wonderful character to the body of the fragrance. It has synthetic castoreum, but definitely in very low amounts and hard to detect. It's a very well balanced experience. It's not a punchy fragrance by any means though. It settles down quickly into a skin scent so you'll definitely need a few sprays to get it to the point it will jump out at you as you wear it, as one spritz on the skin may leave you hungry for more. If you like warmer scents but not too big on scents that creep into the gourmand territory I still think it's worth looking into as you may surprise yourself.

Oppositely to Vetchling below, I was both dreading and anticipating exploring this house. The mostly sexual and animalic nature of the creations is completely outside of my comfort zone. I have the full sample set to explore and I thought I would start off with what seemed like the obvious odd one out that I would hate, so I figure I should get it out of my system and from there it could only get better. I'm *so* very confused, right now. The reviews here are all over the place so I was expecting to get a blast of fecal but I did not. This is beautiful. Sweet yet animalic, stupidly sexy and suggestive. To my nose, this is far removed from the animalic of Liquides Imaginaires's Peau de Bête or Zoologist's Hyrax. Those two are vile and sadly repulsive to me. Mxxx on the other hand, both confuses me and enthralls me. The sweetness of the cacao and vanilla blends perfectly with the creamy, wet stone aspect of hyraceum (which here somehow doesn't turn fecal, thank goodness) and the just-right-enough animalic nature of the ambergris balanced by the balsamic resins. Baffling. It lasts quite a long time on my skin (8+ hours) and seems to project well too, considering I first had it on strip and I could smell it when I entered the room. I'm sure this would last days on clothes. I came in expecting to hate this and I walk out with a dark, mystical, sexy beast of a fragrance, wanting to wear it several times and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up getting a bottle.

Hold me closer, tiny dancer. This is a perfume you wear for yourself, or perhaps to share only in the closest of encounters. I think that’s what I like most about it. There’s an intimacy to it that you can hold close without screaming to the world around you that you’re wearing perfume. Fabulous perfume. At its heart is this creamy sandalwood and dusty cacao accord that gives fleeting glimpses of others from the line, particularly Nightflower and Mx. But this one wraps everything in a swathe of ambergris... salty, musky, and warm. There are flashes of leather too - smooth, suede-like, almost worn-in. Then oily resins drift through, slightly green and herbal. For a moment I catch what feels like vetiver, but almost as quickly as I notice it, it disappears again, leaving me wondering whether it was ever really there at all. As I hold my hand to my nose trying to dissect each individual note, I have to remind myself that this isn’t really what a perfume like this is about. It’s an experience, not a test of your ability to analyse every moving part. Stepping back and simply letting it wash over me, the gentle breeze of it pushing out occasional bursts of texture and nuance before retreating again, what becomes clear is the restraint. The lightness of touch. The deliberate use of light and shade, allowing things to weave in and out rather than sit loudly on top of one another. Cool perfume. Made for tiny dancers and their big hulking partners alike.

I read that Christopher Kemp of Floating Gold believed Mxxx to be "one ambergris perfume that came closest to the real thing," which immediately piqued my interest. Since I am also quite familiar with ambergris, possessing a precious hunk of light grey ambergris from New Zealand, for which I tinctured a piece, I had to experience it. In short: I agree with Kemp, and it defies explanation. It's ineffable, exalting presence is here. I do want to note that while a tawny, dusky cacao is prominent, it is the cooperation between the vanilla and ambergris that strikes me the most, so warm, textured, even titillating. It's like that slight buzz one gets after a first drink with someone you're very attracted to, and you feel the heat of anticipation. It's that kind of feeling: lost inhibition. Perfumer Antoine Lie chooses his animalics judiciously, with just a wee bit (no pun intended) of hyraceum like Angostura bitters to that cocktail. Hubba hubba, wink wink. There's so much to love but none of it feels stifling, cedar and spices, dry and salty, sweet and dirty, it's shape-shifting but not capricious, and over time the vanilla and ambergris feel like the most sensual malt milkshake with a James Dean type at the parlor after a night of necking. Or it could be Montgomery Clift that plays the role of Mxxx, inviting you to lean in, or for you to sit in his lap and take in his moody, sensitive, sexiness.

On a blotter Mxxx. smells very similar to Sogno Reale (Mendittorosa) which is another salty amber perfume I absolutely adore. Mxxx. is gorgeous on the skin. Cacao makes it stand out from other amber-y perfumes. Smoky and slightly bitter, just like the fragrance of roasted cacao beans when they are ground. Sandalwood and vanilla tone down the animalic scent. Nothing unpleasant on my skin, not fecal or urinal. Just pure beauty of a warm salty smoky scent. It says on Eris website 'Mxxx. has a massive 7% dose of natural specially tinctured, and ethically sourced Ambergris and Pierre d’Afrique (Africa Stone or Hyraceum).' I think the large dose of ambergris and hyraceum makes a difference (and also justifies the price). I feel Mxxx. is more suitable for cooler seasons due to its gourmand facet when compared to Sogno Reale. I highly recommend Mxxx. and SR to all salty amber lovers.

I got a sample of this one and was not sure about getting it first, since it kinda reminded me of the Amber by Franck Boclet, which is also a gorgeous ambergris scent. The more I wear the Mx. from the bottle I got today, the more I love it. It's like an undercover animalic scent to me, it's very wearable and probably not offending to anyone with it's balsamic ambergris and slight vanilla style. The animalic notes are subtle, but always there in a way that makes me feel that this one is a very magnetic, attractive and sexy scent. The sillage is not too crazy, which is also what I like about it. It's one of those scents that make you go mhmmmmm this person smells amazing when getting closer, but will not annoy anyone out of your radius. It works really well on my skin and I feel amazing when wearing it. A very addictive and wearable animalic scent for me.

  • em inglês

Wow. This is not the type of fragrance I'm usually attracted to. The cacao is gorgeous. Vanilla-like. Something animalic and powerful yes. Sounds boring but much more than all of that. (I'm also not that experienced in discerning notes) People say that some perfumes are mixed well...to me this is one of those! Smells old school vintage yet modern and sober cozy. I just like it a lot and will be saving my sample for a sunny and cold day cuz this stuff is expensive! Expensive probably because of all the good stuff listed in it but if you have the coin go ahead. Sill-age and longevity are very good. Lasted almost my entire day and could smell it on my skin that night.

I’m really enjoying spending time with this. Every time I smell my wrist, Mxxx. is different. It’s a warm salty amber, then it’s a beautifully dry cacao, then it’s barely anything at all, then the amber picks back up again. It’s almost like smelling something on the wind, like there’s a complicated physics my nose can’t anticipate, which is what makes each sniff so captivating. For me, Mxxx. is mostly a one-person show. The scent sits close to the skin; I have to basically nuzzle myself to get the full experience. But that’s also part of its charm. While you’re wearing it, you can't forget how lucky you are -- that this entire show is just for you.

I received the discovery pack and immediately sprayed this on paper. Initially I was struck by it... it was exactly how I remembered Bvlgari Black smelling. But perhaps it just brings back the feeling I had when I wore Black. Sexy and confident. I wish I had a bottle for comparison. Mxxx. is ambery, sweet, warm, lightly peppered, airy, slightly aquatic and totally glows on skin. Upon last spray of my sample I purchased a FB with the discount you get when you purchase the sample set through the Eris website. This will be my first true “bedroom” scent... it’s titillating. Exactly what you want to smell when you lean in.

  • em inglês

The idea of contrasting dry-spicy cocoa with animalic-salty ambergris is simply stunning. Who ever wanted to meet the mythical ambergris: here it is in full beauty! But you have to pay close attention to discover the ambergris, because it behaves like an octopus: constantly changing color and shape, holding everything with its countless arms at the same time. And yes, here the octopus actually drinks a cup of cocoa - strange but wonderful!

  • em inglês

I’m in love. The opening cocoa note is gorgeous, intense and bitter. It does go through a very animalic phase in the mid, but the dry down is utterly addictive with that huge dose of ambergris, the hyraceum, touch of vanilla and general ambery deliciousness. And it lasts and lasts on my skin. By this point it is a skin scent, but that’s fine by me. As long as I get to enjoy it, I don’t care about anyone else!

  • em inglês

This is one of the greatest things I've ever smelled. Incense and woods ✔️ Spices and salty musks ✔️ Subtle powdered vanilla and cacao ✔️ I could bath myself in Mxxx. This can be worn in any season, which is a huge bonus. The high temp elevates the ambergris and the amber and patchouli come forward. Never cloying, sits close to the skin but wafts around when you move making it very sensual in that way.

  • em inglês

VERY interesting. I’ve never smelled anything like this. I pick up on the bitter cocoa & the animalic (or maybe ambergris?) makes it smell almost leathery. Truly unisex, maybe a bit more masculine-leaning but I’m a woman and I enjoy wearing this. My 56-year-old dad also loves it for himself!

  • em inglês

My first perfume love. Warm and cozy inside a long fur coat (with a matching fur muff and hat) on a crisp winter's walk. Shedding your bundlings for a sexually charged cup of tea with a lover-to-be in their living room. So comforting yet exciting; intoxicating, and I never tire of it.

  • em inglês

I like this! In the right time and place I think is perfect. To some extent, I can understand the association with diapers but for me it is more like an accord that is similar to certain brands of baby wipes. The dry down on clothes or bed sheets after a few days is really nice.

  • em inglês

Makes me want to hold a beautiful woman. It has a strong cacao/vanilla opening on my skin, and dries down to a lovely, sweet animalic. Very comforting.

  • em inglês

It's striking to me how few reviews there are for this perfume, perhaps I imagined this, conjured up a massive (if cultish) following in my head for this perfume but I honestly thought this was a best seller from the brand...hmmmm... anyway... Mxxx is the ultimate nuzzling in, comfort blanket of a perfume I've ever smelled. I first sampled it a few years ago and got around to popping it on again the otherday and while a massively enjoyable experience as it is...I'm not sure I can tell you why? such is the unknowable nature of this perfume. It smells like the refined essence of why we're into this damn stuff in the first place. I can't really smell a pethora of notes or clever transitions or collections of accords but does that make this one dimensional? No. I don't believe it does. Linear? well maybe but also,.no. It feels deliberately constructed in one sense but with the seeming absence of the hand of a creator in the other, a beautiful mistake, yet nature doesn't make mistakes right? I can smell, sandalwood, musks and that aloof yet familiar animal fixative, 'skin' warmth of ambergris, which has the strange quality of going on and then going in, seemingly deep into your skin, if I was a twat I might say 'permeating your soul' or some hokey, corny BS like that.... but actually it kinda does. A contradictory and defiant perfume then, one which has to be smelled. I feel it's a base heavy perfume I can only percieve a little scratch of top notes and then everything mid and base just seemlessly flows into one another. I feel this is a love letter to enthuiasts, something which has this inate appeal to any human nose but I think typically your average Muggle might struggle to 'get' this as a perfume but will be as drawn to it's loveliness as anyone else. It doesn't smell like Guerlain's iconic Jicky but in spirit & style I believe it to be a fairly good comparison. I love Mxxx, but it lacks a focal point for me, something I can really get behind. If it was a bit more animalic in an outragous sense like another perfume to which this could be compared Affinessence... something...name escapes me...errrrr... the Ambergris one... ??? But then again it might lose some of it's mystique and refinement. It's such an enigma I can't even make up my mind. Try it though, you won't regret it.

  • em inglês

I was hoping not to like this because of the high price point, but alas, I ended up enjoying it enough to buy a partially used bottle online. Mxxx comes alive on skin; testing this one on a blotter doesn't do it justice. After the dry down, the magic happens. I am a firm believer that gender and fragrance need not be referenced in the same sentence and anyone of any gender identity/gender expression can wear whatever they want, but I absolutely see the vision Eris is going for with this one. Mxxx defiantly stands with one foot firmly planted on either side of the territory line between sweet/warm spicy gourmands (“feminine”) and musky/leathery animalics (“masculine”). Robust ambergris takes center stage; I'm used to ambergris playing more of a supporting role in fragrances, but it absolutely makes its presence known here. The ingredients are supremely well blended -- Mxxx feels lived-in and melds with my skin chemistry seamlessly. It also performs well in all temperatures. My one and only complaint about this creation is that the longevity leaves something to be desired.

  • em inglês

I am not a gourmand person, and was hesitant to order this, but the promise of ambergris convinced me to try a sample. It opens up spicy and a little funky, but oddly alluring - however, after a few minutes the scent became very alluring. I was surprised there isn't any palo santo in here, because the middle phase reminded me of the smoothest fattiest most complex palo santo and spice blend. I'm assuming the intoxicating fatty note is the ambergris. I found this scent somewhat animalic, but not in a gross or fecal way whatsoever. It's more like the honeyed scent of warm fur; not too sweet at all. Edit: bought a larger decant of this and developed some mixed feelings after a while; I still feel the same way about the top and middle notes, but after the drydown I can smell a little more iso E or ambroxan (or some other woody/musky aromachemical) than I'd like. The artificial wood scent kinda lingers on my clothing, which is a problem I've had with a lot of woody scents that I love otherwise.

  • em inglês

Absolutely surreal and interesting Oriental Vanilla with an almost fecal animalic middle that threatens to derail things quite wildly for those not inclined to this type of boldness in perfumery. The perfume innocently begins with cacao, incense and some spices. Then it starts transitioning to an animalic almost fecal heart comprised of hyrax, castoreum, ambergris, before it finally settles into a woody vanilla base with hints of benzoin and patchouli. A real rollercoaster and could shock many. Unisex with moderate sillage and very good longevity. A very naughty scent that will find it difficult to find an occassion to wear. Enjoy! PS: The story below is an interesting description of this perfume if you can follow it all the way through.

  • em inglês

The opening is ultra spicy, with mace, ginger and pepper really popping off the skin. Those die down to leave a smoother sandalwood-centric composition, and this is where you get the similarity to Mx. The later drydown brings out more of the hyraceum, which balances the creamy sandalwood with a spicy-exotic aspect (and never goes remotely fecal), leaving a very sophisticated your-skin-but-better skin scent. It’s nice, but for the premium price and ingredients, this doesn’t particularly speak to me. I guess mum was right and I’m just an uncultured brute after all.

  • em inglês

I recently tried Scorpio Rising which I did enjoy but I didn't find very unique, it has lots of overlap with many other fragrances. This one is unique. It's creamy, it's spicy and a little boozy, it's warm and sweet but it's also a little animalic. It's a clashing of notes which could have made it too weird but I think it works, perfumer did a great job here balancing everything out.

  • em inglês

Mx. was a sandalwood-centric construct with a never-too-overpowering blend of spices. At first it is turned slightly gourmand with cacao before growing some claws with castoreum. Mxxx. exchanged the sandalwood for an ambre gris- vanilla accord, which add a sensuality to what was already a good perfume. From nice to really great

  • em inglês

I do enjoy the more challenging materials I’ve given Mxxx at least 3 good wearings, trying and trying but can’t perceive a hint of diaper! What I do get is woody, semi-sweet chocolaty cacao with lightly vanillic touches. The ambergris isn’t animalic off my skin and adds an airy, ethereal quality, supportive and structured.

  • em inglês

Musky, smoked wood with a beautifully balanced (subtle) sweetness. Smells and performs in a reserved way — the fragrance is not raunchy whatsoever, and it sits awfully close to the skin. But lean in, and you get one of the most appealing musky-woody fragrances I have smelled in a long time. 8.4/10

  • em inglês

Was expecting Mxxx. to be an animalistic beast with an interesting chocolate twist. I wasn't disappointed - it is that, but unfortunately performance is weak. After an interesting spicy opening, the cocoa makes its appearance and is quite pleasant. As it dries down, the animalic notes appear with the cocoa mellowed and hanging subtly in the background. It also quickly retreated to a skin scent with surprising longevity. It's just barely noticeable and quite an intimate fragrance. Mxxx. would probably do better in summer (I'm testing in winter) but too weak for me to consider further.

  • em inglês

What piqued my interest about this was the large amount of ambergris concentration and lots of resins being mentioned in the note breakdown. Oddly this is one of those fragrances I really struggle to smell. It’s so light and airy I barely even get hints of it. Hopefully I don’t sound weird saying this but when I do smell this scent it quite literally smells like hair or more specifically a newborn babys head. There is some additional elements though like very light cocoa and vanilla. Very strange fleeting scent

  • em inglês

Much more "masculine" than I was expecting, and very dry. Good for being a bottom layer under something too "feminine", though. Kind of like Grand Soir, if you took every drop of sweetness out of it (the only very tiny amount of sweetness most definitely comes from the benzoin). Very quiet sillage, which really surprised me.

  • em inglês

The first 30 minutes or so of this fragrance was the most engaging hit of earthy smoke, spice and faint chocolate. I liked that best. The dry down became much more spicy gourmand sweet. It lasts to 6 to 7 hours where it trails a solid skin scent of vanilla. Exquisite. Rare. Limited and expensive.

Madison, a college freshman at NYU, is stuck going to dinner with her recently-divorced uncle Gary. She's not thrilled about it since it's a Friday night and she'd rather be hanging out with her friends, but it's a free meal at what sounds like a nice restaurant. She's going to try and catch up with her friends after at a party, because this cute boy Zach from her Sociology class will be there, and she wants to flirt with him, and hopefully Katey doesn't get there before her because she knows she has the same idea. She sprays on a hefty dose of Demeter Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Kisses, layering it over a short spray of Demeter Vanilla Cake Batter. Gary is a childless divorced pharmaceutical rep who's re-entering the dating scene. He's in his early fifties, and twenty years of marriage has caused him to sag a little around the middle. He hasn't quite started losing his hair yet, but he checks obsessively every day. He makes good money, so he bought some new clothes that he thinks make him look a little younger. He's an easy mark for attractive salespeople, and was convinced to get a couple new colognes at Bergdorf Goodman. He went right to the more expensive brands, the kind with stuff like oud, hyrax, and ambergris, which he thought smelled really sexy and deep at the store. He's taking his niece out for dinner, not that he really wants to but he does every now and then as a favor to his sister, and he's developed a bit of a crush on this one hostess at Vanities, the new Evan Kiley bistro in Tribeca, so it's an excuse to make a reservation there. He's trying to think of what to say to make it clear, but in a casual, tossed off and not forced way, that Madison is his niece and not his date, because the hostess might think it was creepy that a guy his age was out with a 19 year old girl. He puts a spritz of one of his new colognes on his wrists and puts on some of his new clothes. On the subway to the restaurant, he begins to think maybe his new cologne smells like poop. By the time he gets there he thinks that maybe he has too much on, and gets a little paranoid that others can smell it far away. But it was really expensive so it must be nice, right? Maybe he's overreacting. Luckily he's there a good ten minutes early, so he tells the hostess he's waiting for his niece (whew! that was easy!) while he gets a drink at the bar. Some cocktail with Bourbon and Canton's Ginger Liqueur. It's very sweet. When Madison gets to the restaurant, she sees her Uncle Gary wearing a shirt that seems way too young for him over at the bar. He's nice but it's a little creepy. "I hope no thinks I'm his date" she worries to herself. She gives him a hug and thinks he smells a little like sweet poop. It's not quite off-putting but it's weird. Jeremy is a 28 year old actor in NYC, but he makes good tips as a waiter at Vanities, that new Evan Kiley place in Tribeca, and as one of the more experienced waiters in the initial hirings he got the cushy weekend high-tip shifts. He's really good at his job, always professional, never drinks or gets high before a shift, naturally very attentive to the customers in his section and even other people's sections. He'll move up to Maitre D' eventually. He's waiting in the wings while Becca, the hostess, seats a middle-aged guy who's been in a couple times before. He's got a young girl with him, and he wonders if she's an escort. Good if that's the case, since last time he was in he was alone, eating at the bar, and it seemed like he might have been ogling Becca a little. Yeah, Becca's attractive - she and Jeremy even made out one night, after a long bout of after-shift drinking, but then she fell asleep on his couch and they didn't do anything and they just laughed about it the next day, and even though they never did that again they became good friends and he keeps an eye out for her at work, especially when creepy middle aged guys hit on her. After Becca seats them she flashes him the signal that they asked for tap, not sparkling. He tries to remember the guy's name as he fills the carafe, since he's a return customer - Greg, maybe? - he checks the reservation app before he goes over - GARY! That's right. He was close. "G" names. There are some notes on him in the app. Allergic to walnuts. "Hi, welcome back!" he says, as he leans over the table to fill their glasses. And somewhere, in the negative space he entered between them, the air was charged with Hershey's Kisses, ginger liqueur breath, and... diapers? And in that space, in Jeremy the Actor's nostrils, Mxxx by Eris was born.

Review Foundation: Have a tester, live in a high humidity country, tried because notes sounded interesting. // Thoughts: the opening for me is a warm spice with a touch of vanilla. Then more vanilla, then diapers... so many diapers with a hint of a scented bag to put the diaper in. // End Opinion: It wasn’t a oh-my-what-crawled-out-of-your-bum offensive diaper smell, but a newborn baby or elderly grandmother type of diaper smell. It reminded me of all those years ago with my own children and also when I was a child being with my great-grandmother. It smelled like a warm smooth vanilla with a light powder and a diaper. It was an interesting smell, but not something I see myself wearing.

You're both the medium-rare dry-aged steak and the double-chocolate cheesecake with vanilla ice cream that follows, served at a candlelit dinner sans alcohol. You're the collected standard of the safe, high-brow, business-oriented dining experience--always overpriced, but widely accepted. Mxxx. by Eris Parfums.

I try never to post anything but reviews, no commentary just for the sake of gabbing, but good Lord, @Uni No Uta that is one of the funniest most clever things I have ever read in all my years on Fragrantica that I HAD TO say it 🤣🤣🤣

I thought Mx was realistic until I smelled this. Way too realistic for me

Mx is a pleasant, santal-led fragrance, ....and marketed as unisex in an exceptionally explicit way. ...and Mxxx is supposedly a very sexed-up flanker of the same. Smelling it blindly, predominantly perceive it to be remarkably ambery, ...whether that reads as sexy is for each to decide alone, ...or together. Actually Mxxx is very sweetly ambery, with even more of the cocoa powder found in Mx. This is all quite dreamy and soothing; somewhat similar to Eternal Oud by Lattafa. Sandalwood is still present, but it no longer plays a leading role as it does in Mx. However, Mxxx's solid wall of gourmand-amber is still decorated with an array of accent notes. The top boasts an intriguing selection of peppery, gingery, and resinous notes, ...most notably, mace, the more exotic conspecific spice of nutmeg. They each linger for a long-enough while, gradually stepping back into the shadows. The base on the other hand, actually contains a rogue's gallery of sometimes notorious notes that might cause trouble if overplayed: vetiver, patchouli, and no less than three glamourously polarizing animalics. ...but have no fear, all are kept within bounds of good taste and sophisticated moderation. Ambergris, castoreum, ...and benzoin seem to reach a subtle phenolic accord that only slightly tingles one's nose. Whether such curiosities truly add much to the beauty of the scent is debateable, but at least they don't do much harm. Overall, I do find Mxxx enjoyable; ...though its subjective connotations could just as easily lean towards the reverential, religious or even monastic, rather than sexual.

The lovechild of a throwback and gourmand scent, with neither one dominating the experience. Mxxx. gives you the spiced woody-ambers of yesteryear with a subtle chocolate accord. The opening is a bright ginger bomb, backed by a choir of spices and woods. Trained noses may be able to pick up a light muskiness from the animalics, which never felt loud or stinky to me. As the fragrance progresses, a dry and full cocoa accord starts to creep in, adding an additional layer of warmth. The cocoa never gets too sweet or too dry, making it one of my more favorite cocoa notes to date. As the fragrance starts to lose some of its woodiness to the the cocoa, a familiar amber accord joins the party, pushing the fragrance into 'Cola' territory, which is usually what my nose picks up on sweet amber fragrances (happened a lot during the opening of Tango by Masque Milano for me). Completing its journey, the sweetness of the scent fades, embracing the musky, animalic accords that were there from the start. The fragrance never gives into any of its stages too much, maintaining a balance of sweetness, spiciness, and woodiness. Insanely quality composition creating a sophisticated scent. I have really enjoyed this scent through its wears. I'm still finishing up a sample of Mxxx. When it is done, I may buy a full bottle, even if it is significantly more expensive than the others from this collection. For my wallet's sake, I hope I somehow fall more in love with Mx., as it is a bit cheaper.

Your eyes are closed but you are spinning with sensation. You feel warmed in body, mind, and soon you know that this warmth will permeate your spirit too. Your knees and elbows gently convey energy through you to and from the people closely seated on either of your sides as you breathe as one. Your deepest breath yet sticks in your throat a little as you are overwhelmed with gratitude for true community, which you have before you now. The serene voice of someone divinely touched pours out singing in the elements with blessings abounding. This voice lulls you with strength in the conviction that good things await. The person to your left smiles sleepily at you and passes a warm cup to you which you hold under your nose, a tingle traveling down your spine with the earthy, ancient smell of cacao bringing joy and openness to your heart and mind. As one, you lift your cups to soft lips and swallow the thick draught, feeling love expand within and around you. OBSESSED is an understatement. I got the Eris sample set for my sister and was dying to try this one and it did NOT disappoint. What a crazy beautiful gourmand for those of us who don't like 'em too sweet. Putting this on feels like a ritual in of itself.

Mxxx. is a very satisfying perfume, and quite different from it's progenitor, Mx. - which I didn't like at all, really. Mxxx. has one of the more beautiful openings I've smelled in a long while. A sparkling combination of spices and ginger that are totally fresh and zingy, without the support of any citrus. In the heart, Mxxx. is woods, woods, and more woods, and smells to me like the kinds of exotic lumber that might be harvested from a tropical forest. Think mahogany, ebony, sandalwood, rosewood, etc... the oft cited "precious woods" of many a vague note pyramid. I can't tell if I pick up the cacao, or if I am really just smelling a very nice patchouli. Luckily, Mxxx. has no gourmand edge, which is what ruined Mx. for me. Of course, the star of the show here is the natural ambergris, and it does elevate the entire fragrance. I perceive it from top to bottom, and it lends a shimmering, slightly ozonic and marine sparkliness to the fragrance. Very nice stuff!

I'm always cautious of "chocolate" notes in scents - I feel that they too often can become stifling or can quickly overpower. However... I adore the cacao note in Mxxx. I should note also that it's most definitely a *cacao* note and not chocolate... it has a dryness to it that's like if it was it was sifted with a layer of fine cocoa powder. It's used to great effect here. I strongly disagree that this scent has too much going on in it... I think it has just enough. It's a great swirling blend of warm animalics, smokiness, and dessert-adjacent gourmand notes with the vanilla/cacao/sandalwood. But then there's this beautiful saltiness too, which keeps it from settling down in its embracing warmth too quickly. Keeps it interesting. All in all, a super sexy & enticing fragrance that's bound to seduce. The kind of scent that makes you want to lean in closer for more.

Although I really like the scent, I felt as though it was too harsh and loud at first. Whatever the notes were (cacao and ambergris perhaps?) they just hit with too hard a punch. But, once it was on my skin for about 15 minutes, they calmed down and the most beautiful animalics started to blend in perfectly with the cacao and vanilla. It is a beautiful scent that I would love to wear but the pricepoint is a bit beyond what I can in good conscious pay for a scent. If you have the $$, you should check it out.

I did like this, but it doesn’t last long. Incense-y resin, but very much made of essential oils, so not strong. It’s okay, I like it, but not worth getting more. Not Ambre Sultan to my nose at all, nor the Anima Dulcis it has been compared to. This is much nicer than Anima Dulcis; less challenging, less loud, but also hasn't got the stay-put power either.

Not what I expected. Got a sample because of the ambergris listed, but this is WAY less musky than I was expecting! Dry sweet sandalwood is the overwhelming impression on skin, although it's more sweet tobacco leaf up front at first spray. As it dries down that salty musk peeks through with a touch of incense, but subtly, never dominating the fragrance.

Not a stanky animalic in the slightest - but not quite a gourmand. This is a delightful cacao vanilla with a gently gingery, peppery opening - intimate projection due to all the oils but worth every penny. Extremely unisex and wearable, not too sweet, with the animalics and ambergris giving a gentle, palpable oomph that is just divine. This is SEXY.

I have a full bottle up for sale/swap if anyone is interested. I just never wear it because I do not like the sandalwood and cedar combo. Spritzed one or twice. EDIT- it has been sold.

Intense resins and amber, with a heavy powdery note throughout. Also something is burning on the stove. Reminds me of how aristocrats might smell hanging around camping and cookfires.

Be careful with some reviews !! This is very animalic , smell like burnt hair with chocolate ! Idk why but smell somehow fecal , definitely be careful and buy a sample
