A Trivero

It’s nearly impossible for me to believe there’s no tobacco in the composition, or at the very least an incredibly convincing illusion of it. The dry, resinous warmth creates the impression of refined blond tobacco without ever becoming heavy. What Quentin Bisch has achieved here is remarkable. He has created a fragrance that is exceptionally sophisticated yet incredibly versatile, proving that broad appeal doesn’t have to come at the expense of character. It feels luxurious, impeccably blended, and effortlessly wearable in almost any setting. This is the kind of fragrance that quietly earns compliments instead of demanding attention. Having tried the entire new ZEGNA collection, my personal ranking is: 1. Il Sottobosco 2. A Trivero 3. Il Calamaio Those three are absolute standouts and worth every penny. The rest of the collection, while pleasant, didn’t leave a lasting impression on me and felt comparatively forgettable.

The fragrance is crafted as a balanced Aromatic Fougère. French lavender opens with a clean refined freshness followed by Damask rose in the heart adding a soft elegance the base of myrrh brings a gentle depth with a quiet sophisticated richness. There’s also a distinctive undertone a soft leathery nuance with a slight hint of natural warmth almost like clean skin with a touch of sweat it gives the scent an intimate close to the skin feel. The result is an elegant clean and calm fragrance understated yet refined a soft masculine scent that feels personal luxurious and effortlessly composed.

Alright fine, you guys twisted my arm. I’ll blind buy and report back Update: Opening is VERY herbaceous! It’s resinous and incensey but gets much smoother in the dry down. My nose didn't detect any rose at all. Projects pretty well, sprayed it on my hand and I keep getting whiffs. Not a love at first sniff but not bad. Could see this growing on me

I have sampled the new line of six fragrances. A Trivero is very nice. It is aromatic, fresh and balsamic. It is an extremely easy wear - very mass appealing. Early data from the European market supports that - A Trivero is the best seller in the new line at this point. A Trivero would not be a super risky blind buy, in my opinion. If the notes and reviews sound attractive to you, you will probably like it. There are no surprises here. A Trivero is just a very nice, reliable, daily wear gentleman's fragrance. My favorite is La Panoramica. I bought a bottle. If I wanted to buy my son a bottle from this line, it would definitely be A Trivero. An edit/update: After wearing A Trivero for a few days, it has really charmed me. I actually love it at this point. It smells so elegant and classy. I picture a gentleman age 35+ in a top notch suit or sporting an ungodly expensive casual Zegna outfit. For me, this is the kind of fragrance that helps give a man confidence and charm. So of course I was forced to drive back to the Zegna boutique and buy a bottle ... for me, not for my son 😂. Revised rating after multiple wears: 9/10 and 4.4 from me.

My least favorite from the new line. It comes off as a flat, one dimensional composition that feels underdeveloped and frankly smells like a $60 fragrance. Not a fougere either, it 's a harsh aquatic, underscored with lots of sage, lavender, and rosemary -- perhaps a whisper of osmanthus buried underneath it all. It reminds me of Black Caviar, but without any of the depth, or complexity. The dry down, has a bit of Ganymede going on... again... making it somewhat repetitive and uninspiring to me. I also get a bit oud as well. The scent eventually gravitates in the direction of Acqua Oud as somebody else pointed out.
