Golden Myrrh

[I'd owned Golden Myrrh for 7 months before leaving my comments below. I still love it.] What I get from Golden Myrrh is dependent on when it is experienced. For me it requires temps under 60°F to be appreciated. In warmth, the spiced sweetness of the pink pepper dominated opening is overbearing, doesn't dissipate, and instead combines with the amber to take over and quickly halt progression. Warmth doesn't allow its beauty to bloom. Golden Myrrh is not a super-dense oriental but is as a strong as I'll ever need a perfume to be and lasts a long time. If thoughtfully applied on a cool or cold evening the potent opening is held in check, but I've found only skin sprays allow a full, noticeable progression. Clothing stifles development. On skin in cool temps the spicy sweet open fades, allowing me to experience a church-y incense ➡ wood resin ➡ amber ➡ and myrrh over dry woods. Each of those gets its turn to dominate. I find Golden Myrrh to be a favorite because it gives me time with several distinct accords each wear. It's typical Zegna quality and a preferred "amber" during our rare Florida cool spells. It provides much of what I look for in that fragrance style. If you prefer a powerful but stagnant perfume for piercing through walls or across great distances to slay someone with intense vanilla sweetness... this probably isn't for you.

This isn’t marketed as an Oud fragrance, so there’s no reason anyone should get hung up on the perceived amount of oud here, as its there for a supporting role; just a piece of the puzzle, not the entire theme. Seems to be a Harrod’s exclusive, but ebay has some good deals on this, so no need to pay retail here either. In my opinion, this is a great Oriental Amber fragrance that isnt as heavy as it could be, but that’s not really a detriment here as it seems fairly wearable most of the year. But, I understand that some are looking for the nuclear option with their amber fragrances and this isn’t that. I feel its noticeably woody with the juniper being fairly prominent paired with the sweet smooth ambery myrrh makes it quite pleasant. Definitely a decent scent, but of course it’s all subjective.

Resinous, spicy & lightly smoky myrrh-driven scent. It's very well blended, with a church-like incense aroma to open and it settles down into a smooth, amber scent. I don't get as much of the sandalwood nor the oud, but it's definitely got a woody backbone. It's an upper class scent, as most in this line seem to be, good for a classy night out in cooler weather. Longevity is good around 7-9 hours with moderate projection for a few hours. It's not a screamer but it's not a skin scent, either. It fits the brand, I think. An 8.25/10 for me. Probably overpriced at retail but I got it around $125 at an outlet, and it's an absolutely bargain for that price.

This is an excellent Myrrh scent. Slightly more spicy than Michael Malul Agar and Myrrh or Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka Intense. Yet it's not loud or bold. Very agreeable for Church, office or Special Occasions. While it is unisex it's more masculine leaning as it's spicier than a floral scent. This does have Oud in it yet it's not that detectable. Possibly a minor support role. Sits close to the skin like Bvlgari Man in Black EDP does. Which MiB is stronger than this one. I do wish Zegna made a Golden Myrrh Parfum version. A slightly more spicy version.

At one time I was dating a beautiful lady from Croatia. She told me several times that her favorite scents are Myrrh and Frankincense, so I figured I'd spritz this on before our 3rd date. She couldn't quit sniffing my neck and shirt the whole night out. She later visited me at my house and asked for a spray or two on her wrists. It is very masculine on me, like a dress up kind of scent, but on her, it smells amazing and can easily be pulled off by a lady.

One of the most beautiful amber fragrances. Very elegant, not in your face, but it projects and smells wonderful. Perfectly unisex. I mostly get soft myrrh, amber and woody notes. There is some oud but it’s soft.

Blind bought this after having a great success with JML Myrrh and Tonka. Kinda disappointed after the first sniff of this. I feel like there’s something missing from this perfume. This smell dry and lack the sweetness I came to expect. But it’s still pleasant enough.

A stale smelling myrrhe accord with an overdose of generic oud. Heavy, dry, and hard to enjoy

Kind of an amber blob, thankfully GM is somewhat of an airy amber blob. For me, this is a disappointment...I'd agree there seems to be something missing, or - at the very least - an ingredient that just needed a bit more focus.
