Italian Bergamot

Put this one off for a long time. Bought it and Mediterranean Neroli, both in the new version bottles. I think they claim they’re more concentrated versions. Not sure if that’s true; never tried the 4.2oz clear bottle versions. At any rate, I slightly prefer Mediterranean Neroli. It has a little bit more fun factor to it. You just feel like you smell great with it. With Italian Bergamot, it is also quite nice, but it retains a more “classic” appeal. It’s like a very nice citrus aftershave to me. Very gentlemanly and becoming. It wouldn’t be my first recommendation for someone under 21, unless they were very mature. This is a good office fragrance. First time I wore it, I received a compliment. It’s non-offensive, unless you absolutely oversprayed. To me, it’s a business casual, but I think you could wear this formally. I’ll probably wear this year round. But if I were going to be outside in the freezing cold, I’d probably get something a little heavier. Glad I got it. Safe blind buy if all you read sounds good to you; I looked at everything online. The only thing I thought was different was it this was a little more sour of bergamot than expected and wears a little heavier.

The best bergamot I've tried along with AdP Bergamotto di Calabria and ahead of Bergamote 22, especially if looking for a realistic bergamot rather than a citrus blend. Naturally, both AdP and Zegna's share longevity issues though Italian Bergamot is longer lasting on my skin. Wonderful bergamot opening and elegant musky drydown, this is less bright than both Acqua di Bergamotto and Bergamotto di Calabria and easily wearable year round. If I were looking for a bergamot around this price category I'd pick this over Bergamote 22 and any other competitor I can think of. Still, I'd rather keep an eye for discounts as it's a crowded category.

One of my friend called this fragrance "Posh guy in a bergamot field" and I agree with that. Bergamot in this one is very real, green, bitter and sharp for top notes which makes it fresh and clean like oldie aftershaves. Dry down is a very smooth and soft soapy vibe with citrus sorbet-like sweetness which to me is a very pleasant relaxing clean smell. I find this one very very versatile to use as long as the vibe of the outfit and situation is "classy". Crisp linen shirt and blazer with suede loafer is the go-to outfit to go with this fragrance however I wore it to my friend's wedding and it still works just fine.

Really disappointed by Italian Bergamot. What the hell were they thinking when they created this and decided to sell it for that high price? It is nothing special but a very sharp citrusy scent that lasts for an hour or two and projects poorly. Citrus is not an expensive ingredient, they could at least have made it better for the sack of the brand. Indonesian Oud is the only price-worthy scent from this house IMO. Don't waste your money on this one! If you live in Sweden and want to swap my bottle with something that you have got, let me know. Scent: 4/10 Longevity: 3/10 Projection: 3/10

Quality perfume, very well constructed and a wonderful clean and fresh scent. No trace of a chemical nightmare! Just good ingredients. But it really only lasted 3 hours before becoming a skin scent. So, I feel it's a great office scent where you do not want to overwhelm people. Colleagues rated this between 7-8/10......a consistently safe and nice smelling choice. 8/10 for scent 6/10 for performance (longevity) But this works in your favour for where this needs to be used, it's not for the "club"........ Flacon 10/10, love the robustness of the bottle and the magnetic cap.

Italian Bergamot is a citrus, woody and aromatic fragrance. Its output is very fresh with a beautiful and aromatic bergamot, with some green features. After a few minutes, a high-quality, elegant soapy scent remains. In longevity and smell is better than Acqua di Bergamotto, but too is more expensive. With this fragance you can get 8 hrs. For lovers of citrus fragrances as me, this is a very interesting choice. I Agree with "MrBolton" than this fragrance it has a Classic and mature style

An uplifting and gorgeous masculine neroli and bergamot centric composition. Perfectly suited for the all-year weather we have here in California. Linear but refined, elegant, and chic. The dry down smells as if you’ve just finished off a wet shave using bergamot scented shaving cream. There are similarities to Mediterranean Neroli, mainly due to the same use of Neroli, but both head in different directions as they dry down. I love this one.

I'm personally a sucker for italian scents. Specifically bergamot and neroli heavy scents, so it's no wonder why i love this one so much. It simply and elegantly displays those two scents with decent performance considering the inherent performance problems with those ingredients. Now, all of that said, I cannot justify the price for this one. I just can't do it.

I just gotten this beauty today... i agree with what Cyrus smelt... juicy sparking bergamot with the lovely neroli. I always wanted to get a bottle of Le Labo's Bergamotte 22 but then i managed to score a tester of this, and i can say is tat i found my signature bergamot & neroli

Very pleasant bergamot-neroli fragrance. Nice and clean. Pretty good longevity for a citrus (bergamot) fragrance. Seems very well-blended and smooth, classy. I get a bit of musk on the drydown, after about three hours, but this is not listed in the notes.

This is my go-to scent for spring and summer! It's incredibly fresh and uplifting thanks to the bergamot. The rosemary adds a nice herbal touch, and the vetiver grounds it all out beautifully. Lasts a good while too, which is a bonus!

Amazing high quality bergamot fragrance, really smooth and gives the true essence of a natural citrus fragrance, in the same vein as bergamote 22

Attracted by the scent of Neroli ivy hanging over the walls in the streets of Rome early May, I have sampled Neroli Portofino and EZ's Italian Bergamot on the Airport before returning home. I sprayed these 2 on a paper and NP also on my backhand. Just to find out, a week later after another sampling, that my wife's first reaction to NP: “Just like 4711”, is more or less correct. And that was the Parfum version. Gone from my skin in a couple of hours and from the paper strip the very next day. However, the other paper strip, which I assume to be Italian Bergamot has a lovely drydown even after 4 weeks! Beautiful subtle sweetness. Since chance of sampling it here on my skin in the Netherlands is very limited, addicted as I became, decided to take the gamble and ordered it from Zegna’s web shop. I thought, if I can get this dry down for about 3-4 hours, even if close to skin, I will be in heaven. 4 days later, weekend included, it arrived. I gave it a proper full wear last week. 5 sprays. The weather was 16 C and cloudy, maybe not the best occasion. After a very fresh opening I got a certain soapiness which I like. However before it could even come close to the paper dry down, it vanished from my arms about 4 hours later. Yesterday I wore it again. Now it was 22 Degrees C. Still cloudy. I got the same nice cool Bergamot Citrus and a bit op soapiness all the way for 7-8 hours. Moderate sillage for a couple of hours. (I cannot really rate this and I have no one around to ask). For me is was mostly close to the skin. Not really much going on. A bit shy let’s say. Almost linear. This never got any close to the now mysterious paper strip I still have here in front of me. Decided to spray again on paper today, after previously not getting the same result after a couple of days. I am afraid I mixed up something. I was quite sure to spray only 2 on paper and is certainly not Neroli Portofino. I will certainly know if it was Italian Bergamot within a couple of days after a second test. Pffff Although I never rate a fragrance after so short use (1 spray at deliver and 2 full wears), I really must hope this will grow on me. Because this stuff costs more than twice the price of my most expensive fragrance ever, being the recently purchased Acqua di Parma’s. For now it is just average. For example, it is exactly 3,5 times the price I paid for Dolce Gabbana Light blue. (42 €/75 ML). Which is a very decent fragrance. I really have serious doubts this Ermenegildo Zegna Essenze collection member, will ever feel very special to me, except for the price I have paid. I often read about how good and natural the used elements are in expensive fragrances, rather than the artificial stuff that is often used in cheaper designers fragrances. How well the stuff has been blended. How original. But honestly, for me, as long as I don’t get a skin allergy, (never did) I don’t care if the notes have been produced by Esso/Shell or Texaco (like the petroleum in Fahrenheit) or from trees, plants and herbs of someone’s private Garden, or from God’s own Garden of Eden itself. For me only the outcome is relevant: scent and performance combination All the rest is snobbish bull... In my endless search for the ultimate perfect scent. The very special and exquisite I have purchased since Mid March 24 fragrances, 2 aftershaves and 2 deodorant sprays. As I feel it’s getting harder to find this within regular perfumeries, I was willing to do a little bit harder my best. Read more reviews. Go downtown for sampling. Spend even more. But the search within the more expensive is yet to lead to the desired outcome. The best mainly Summer fragrances I bought this year: Chanel Allure & Allure home Sport. Dior Sauvage (Yes the hated one) Acqua di Parma Essenza and Terres D’Hermes, although this is very similar to Eau Tres fraiche I already had. And a couple of very decent ones: Thierry Mugler Cologne, Aqua di Parma Colonia Intensa and Assoluta, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. But the only not mainstream decent fragrance I bought is Cristiano Ronaldo Legacy, believe it or not. Nobody has this, only me and my eldest son. LOL. That makes it special, right? Today I am expecting Tsar, by Van Cleef & Arpels. Who knows, maybe this will compensate.

Well this was a blind buy for me. I had been on a bergamot kick and came across this..... When I received this, I expected a brighter, more juicy scent. What I got was a very, very relaxed bergamot/mossy blend with a slight hint of spicy neroli. The vetiver is barely detectable which I like. It just enough to add support. I'm not going to lie, I was very disappointed as I wanted and expected something more "summery and bright." However, after giving this a shot and wearing it for a few days, I can now say I really, really like this stuff. It's very masculine and very well blended. You can tell this stuff is high quality and costs a lot of money. Now in a way I'm almost glad it's not too bright because I don't have anything like this. I don't see this as an everyday scent. I feel like I have to dress up when I wear this. Not as in a suit and tie, but nice jeans, nice shirt and boots with a jacket to top it off. I will add it is very potent and strong but the sillage isn't the best, but certainly not the worst. Overall: I love the mossy hint I get from it. It comes off as super masculine and super well blended. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 6/10 P.S. - if you're a fan of bergamot, I highly recommend this and Dolce and Gabbana's Velvet Bergamot.

Italian Bergamot inspires complex feelings, and is the most challenging of this modern Zegna era. Upon my skin it is very difficult to pull off. The opening is classic Zegna, with strong tribute to the elements of Essenza Di Zegna's (2003) bellicose and dry citrus. The youthful fighter finally begins to warm, working up a sweat that blossoms into a gorgeous and mature heart of bergamot and neroli that lasts for about two hours. Finally, on my skin, Italian Bergamot dries to a fatiguing and somewhat heavy vetiver/powder duo that possesses an unpleasant anaerobic decay. It is the eventual note of decay that makes Zegna's Italian Bergamot impossible for me to use regularly. The final skankiness I encountered could play well in certain scenarios, but those moments are far more rare at the age of 40 and so the fragrance's applicability to my life is restricted. I love the first two thirds of Italian Bergamot, the ending just does not fit well with my personal chemistry. If I came across a full vintage bottle at a discounted price I would not hesitate for a moment to buy. A worthy addition to a seasoned collector's library.

this has to be one of my favourite fragrance lines in my eyes they can do no wrong ;p but that doesn't mean its worth buying... Italian Bergamot is a very pleasant smelling scent its done very well and holds its own next to any other top shelf italian designed scents i.e. (aqua di parma colonia line) since its very similar in style the rosemary bergamot neroli and vetiver gives this scent a very fresh and lively smell its only draw back is its projection and longevity since both are either average or below average as i said earlier on i adore this line but if i had to only take one id go with either Javanese Patchouli or Peruvian Ambrette if you're able to sample this line don't wait jump all over it on to the next

Legion, I get your issue with the price of Italian bergamot. And I would add that the scent may not be the most likeble bergamot scent. Acqua di Parma Bergamotto di Calabria for example, is more refined and smells more expensive even if costs half the price. I have both. And I don't think it is worth what I paid for it. However, you are dead wrong about sillage being weak. I doubt there are any better. Longevity as well. My skin is a deadpool for many fragrances, at least to my nose but this one will last me all day, 8-9 hours. Close to skin only in the last 2-3 hours. That is impressive for a Summer fragrance. And even in Winter you won't go unnoticed.

A quality smelling green, clean, bergamot-orientated fragrance. Isn't the sort of fragrance that is usually my top pick, but I did find it rather intriguing after having the chance to explore the Essenze line. This is the sort of scent you would wear with a nice shirt and pants, a suit, or something of that nature. Would make a great daytime / work scent, but would also work equally as well on a date or going out to a nice restaurant for dinner. I probably didn't love it quite enough to justify the price, but if I see a good bargain i'd definitely consider it. Worth checking out for sure.

Nice Bergamot. Do I expect a $150/2.5oz fragrance to be only a beautiful Bergamot? No, obviously. Perfectly done, but Bergamot alone is not enough to justify the price point and performance is average, at best. It's a pass for me. (Go for Acqua di Bergamotto, that I prefer over Italian Bergamot, but performance is even worse...) Daytime, Spring/Summer, 25+ Edit: Zegna has discontinued this one (EDT) and re-released in (supposedly) EDP concentration. Edit 2: tried the EDP. Added a kind of musky creaminess that kills its freshness, but no improvement in performance.

Foxysardar I can't believe when you say this fragrance doesn't last. That is exactly what it does. all Spring & Summer day. Maybe you don't like it. Maybe it's dissapointing or you expected more from this quite expensive fragrance. It's by far the most expensive I own. But longevity can hardly be an issue, unless you got a fake.

I really like this fragrance. It has a clean and sexy vibe to it. Smooth with a very unique-smelling bergamot off the top with vetiver and a rosemary base. This isn't a complex fragrance - it just smells very nice, well-blended and expensive. Quality juice.

it is so light and soapy , on skin it only last....1 hour I think , spray on cloth it can last longer, around 5 hours. good but not good enough for that price! Smell good , Bergamot, or I think there is lime in it last note soapy.

As expected from this line, Italian Bergamot is a beautiful release. Natural, fresh, good sillage and longevity. Appropriate daily fragrance for male and female, imo, because the néroli's floral note quite stands out.

Beautiful Bergamot smell, but very week performance, same as the watered down version Acqua di Bergamotto.

when I first sprayed this on a testing strip I got the familiar scent of bergamot and neroli so typical of southern Italy. Its the most beautiful smell in the world IMO. I loved it straight away.... then I saw the price. Bergamot/ neroli fragrances are a dime a dozen. It's been done a million times before, on many occasions better than this. The sillage is weak. I tried this and sicilian mandarin. There is no justification for the price tag at all. It feels like a cynical money making line of products. Im sure many people spray them in store, fall in love with the people pleasing, accessible notes and burn £160 for 125ml on the spot. Then they realise its evaporated from the skin in 2 hours. Not impressed, I wouldn't recommend.

So this is not a review as you can't review something which does not last and simple fragrance . Zegna Italian bergamot is big disappointed as this does not do much IMO as this fizzes away in less then couple of hours and becomes skin scent and something which goes for couple of hundred $$ should do more . Mind you its smells very good for time it last but that time should be minimum 6 hours not 2 hours . Save your money look for better bergamot offering in the market 5/10

Very light bergamot, right from the start. Nothing more. It's true. Smells very natural. Longevity around 2-3 hours. Sillage nonexistent. Maybe for 20$...

It starts off with a bright floral fresh spiciness. Shortly after the spice lessens while the citrus and neroli take center stage. Following closely behind are hints of the soap and aftershave mentioned by many, peeking through as it carry traces of it's early and later mid notes into it's clean woody drydown. Though I've done it for other reviews I'm not real big on the whole performance thing. For me, if I like a scent, I just wear it and enjoy it for what it is. I will say though for a freshie it lasted longer than I thought it would. About 6 or 7hrs into the wear I could still smell it but it seemed very faint to my nose but apparently others smelled it clearly. So what really brought this performance thing to light was when a lady came along side me as I was walking and said "excuse me sir what fragrance is that you're wearing? It smells really good". I said thanks it's called Italian Bergamot by Zegna. She said "wow, It's so subtle too, omg it smells so good". And of course I thanked her again just before we parted ways. So I thought it was long gone but she smelled enough of it to share her impressions. To me this is super clean, floral masculine, class. I blind bought this after diving into reviews. Its exactly what I was looking for. I'm definitely glad I got it:)

Apparently the Zegna corporation owns some exclusive bergamot plantation in Calabria. That forms the inspiration for Italian Bergamot, released as part of the Essenze line. This is the sort of composition that irks me. Its only redeeming feature is that it has a polish, which is expected for a mainstream release. Otherwise it's a steely, cold, sharp bergamot from start to finish, with hardly any other supporting note. I fail to see the purpose of a composition like this, when one can easily obtain some bergamot essential oil as an alternative. It is unbalanced and, as is so typical of such releases, severely lacks emotion, intelligence, abstraction and complexity. The star ingredient is bergamot, which is not as compelling by itself as lemon or orange, and has too much bitterness. The concentration is eau de parfum, however it has average duration and is extremely muted. It also lacks, because of its concentration, the invigorating and bracing aspects of a good, simple bergamot based eau de cologne. The bottle is cool. 1.5/5 (negative)

I was excited to acquire the newer EDP version of this gem recently, having thoroughly enjoyed their Mediterranean Neroli as one of my favorite fragrances for years. I also wanted to compare it with D & G's Velvet Bergamot, another of my faves. Without rehashing the observations written below, which are mostly the same as my impression, I can confirm this is expertly blended, smooth and exudes quality. It does have pretty decent longevity, unlike most citrus frags. Very plush and velvety (in fact I could have seen this one named Velvet Bergamot!), and dries down to a wonderful, slightly sweet, vanilla-esque base (might be the tonka bean showing up, per the notes). The bergamot/neroli mix is warm and everpresent. Unlike D&G, this one is not very crisp, green or cool, but more understated. Both are classy, summer-perfect scents that I love, but I see the Zegna as needing a minimum of a sharp polo or more dressy look to complement it, while the D&G rolls as my post-shower, casual-styled reach.

I had initially written this off as the least interesting of Zegna's Essenze collection and therefore I didn't think it was full bottle worthy. Well after much testing and sitting on the fence, I went ahead and purchased a full bottle of this (& Sicilian Mandarin). This really is gorgeous and I can detect each and every note listed in the publicity. It comes across as being in the style of a classic Italian cologne, like ADP Colonia, but it definitely has its own character. I also get a sense of a fresh non-sweet eucalyptus type of note, like freshly scrunched eucalyptus leaves, but it remains firmly in the background. For a citrus based fragrance the longevity and sillage are pretty good, although not near Zegna's Indonesian Oud. It's a little expensive, but if you are looking for a beautiful citrus that not everyone is wearing, you could do worse than this. As with all the Essenze collection, the presentation and bottle are stunning.

Very refreshing. My first thought is that it sits somewhere between Bergamote 22 and AdP Essenza (the neroli note in that one specifically). I find this a superior Bergamote fragrance to Bergamote 22 for this reason - the added neroli just brings something extra to it - another dimension that elevates it beyond a straight forward dry citrus. It could just mean I'm not a fan of Bergamote to begin with and find it so boring on its own. This fragrance shows me that it needs to be complemented by something else , for my tastes. For that price, though, I'd have to decide if this particular blend of notes is worth it, because there are so many others in this category that differ by such a small margin. I have yet to try their Mediterranean Neroli and can't seem to find anywhere I can sample it, but that one is probably more to my liking

Refined and very masculine. It smells very good and like a potent and refined Bergamot, very similar to Acqua Di Bergamotto, but more concentrated of course. If you want more longevity buy this one and dont mind shelling out hundreds of dollars. If not get the eau de toilette. Just be prepare to spray before you walk in your destination type fragrance so its fresh, a weaker scent. As a scent this is very fresh and masculine I see Le Labo Bergamotte is being compared, its also very good. If you want more depth smoothness more complexity with vanilla go for Le Labo. Zegna is just more masculine hands down These are all way better than Tom Fords' Neroli/Bergamot versions.

I have acqua di bergamotto.. its nice but lighter compared to italian bergamot.. and much more laid back.. i smelled italian bergamot few times in the store and use few spray on me.. its not strong enough to justify the high price.. if anyone interested on this scent i suggest to wait for the italian bergamot edp.. its a new concentration and much2 more longer lasting and dare i say it smells better than the edt.. im not sure if there is any different in terms of notes between the edt and edp.. but i can truely appreciate the quality in the edp much more.. fragrantica should already updated with the edp as its been available for past few months.

One of the citrus scents that I can vibe with. Italian Bergamotte starts off bright and energizing before settling as a citrus scent surrounded by spice a calming woody base. It is simple and cool. There is a calm, casual coolness in the few scents from the Essenze line of Ermenegildo Zegna I've experienced that I didn't experience before with any other line. They smell well blended but with a decided and clear profile that doesn't seem to hide something. The less busy profiles of the scents evoke a feeling of not-having-to-prove-oneself and not-imposing-an-intended-impression when smelled. A stance I can identify with

This lasts for 12 hours with two sprays to the neck amazing fresh natural smelling scent. I was amazed with how strong the smell was on my shirt the next day i could clearly smell it on myself i usually change my work shirt daily but was in a rush and had this amazing scent on me and remembered that i had sprayed it the day before. It is not amazing in terms of projection but the scent just goes on and on. Would be amazing for a first date,work, signature, any season but best for spring/summer. This fragrance has no harsh opening that some fresh scents have and for the price it shouldn't. Definitely a try

The opening is very pleasant, smells citrusy (the smell of bergamot is dominating).This is a masculine scent.The notes of vetiver and neroli(sweet ) come up gradually in few minutes ..!! This looks like a summer fragrance and the longevity is poor..For me it didnot last more than 2 to 3 hours..I could barely smell after 5 hours..Luckily, I didnot buy a full bottle..!! The projection is good, for the first few minutes and later on, hardly detectable.!!

Any idea where can I find this? Edit: I visited their boutique and according to the salesman, the only lines that are not discontinued are the Essenze and the XXX. Although I really liked the EDP version of Italian Bergamot, I wanted something more bergamot-centric, so I am hoping this will be a better choice. However, I cannot find it anywhere.

You will find more Neroli than Bergamot in Italian Bergamot, a shy Rosemary note and maybe a drop of aldehyde, btw this is perfection in a bottle. An Italian bar soap in the palm of your hand. Cons: I miss this collection.

Clean, refined and very masculine. Fresh and spicy. A nice dress up or casual scent. This probably one the best bergamot scents for a late 20s and up man. A long lasting skin scent. I bought a bought bottle. Classic worthy

Smells amazing. Sort of reminds me of Cool Water and Green Irish Tweed but centred around neroli with a burst of bergamot in the opening. A great, somewhat simple scent but very overpriced for what it is

very sourly and at the same time fresh and bit bitter. from top to bottom is fresh, sourly, bitter, clean and crisp. easy to love and suitable for everyday perfume. inoffensive at all.

Compared to Acqua di Bergamotto or Bergamote 22, Italian Bergamot smells like some kind of citrus scented cleaner. If you're in the market for a great bergamot, go for the former 2.

It's ok but I prefer Sicilian mandarin from the same line, the latter smells better and is more unique compared to this one. Lasts quite long for a citrus based perfume.

This is a clean natural smelling bergamot scent .Grade a materials were used here .
