Z Zegna

Here's another ordinary, fresh and typically blue fragrance. But I need to say one thing: it's very underestimated! Z Zegna is a scent full of similarities with other more refreshing, as Acqua di Gio, Tommy, etc. Its fragrance has notes of Sicilian bergamot and Rosemary, on top; white pepper, nutmeg, and Iris, in the heart; patchouli, oakmoss, and cashmere wood, in the base. I would say that Z Zegna is an aromatic-Woody scent, because the bergamot is responsible for the freshness, but is the Rosemary that gives the Minty tone that combines perfectly with the pepper. From the base, the biggest highlight is the oakmoss and its forest nuances, humid and Woody at the same time. Z Zegna is simple, linear and has, in a way, a plea for elegance. Personally, I never managed to keep a fragrance as my signature for a long time, but I remember I finished a whole bottle in about three months, wearing it almost every day. Z Zegna is pleasant, has good projection and the lasting on my skin was very good, especially for the kind of fragrance that is. Here is one of the few examples of colognes that I nominate purchase blindly, even more for those who live in a country as hot as mine (Brazil).

It's not categorically an aquatic, but there is enough calone in it that you can't not perceive it as an aqua type fragrance. But aqua is only one of its dimensions, and it isn't a "blue" at all. Certainly not one of the non-aqua blues, and not an aqua-blue either. This is the only "aquatic" I like. It's the only fragrance where the calone is concentrated enough that I can directly smell it, but the calone somehow DOESN'T blank out all the other notes and the overall fragrance. That's what calone does to my nose: It erases the entire fragrance. Except here, somehow. Now: Ordinarily, the calone not deleting the rest of the fragrance wouldn't automatically be a good thing, because I'm not big on aquatics and the ubiquitous showergelly theme anyway. But Z Zegna has non-aquatic complexity. "Aquatic" is only one of its dimensions, and the rest of what's there is good. It isn't trying to be a "freshie," I might compare it to something more like what I call "daytime Hommes" as a category. A herbal and spicy one of those. A not-soapy and not-sweet one of those. And not powdery either, despite the presence of iris.

Awesome Fragrance! Fresh, Spicy, Woody, Elegant, Modern and Unique. It smells so good and very pleasant, There is a Harmony between its notes and This perfume has a Masterful Well-Blended Composition with Italian Style. In my opinion, It is above many of its genre. Nowadays It is hard to find and It is very Rare, l found and bought It blind-buy by chance with reasonable price. It opens up with fresh citrusy, spicy, floral and spices notes in the background then dry down is earthy woody. This is perfect for the spring and summer and I really enjoy it and I love it very much, I'm so happy that I have it in my collection, Longevity is Average, The Iris and Rosemary notes are dominant in this scent. Scent: 7/10 Value: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 4/10 Versatility: 6/10 Z by Zegna will always be a staple for me. The scent is great. This is definitely fresh spicy. For the first few minutes, you will get a bergamot blast but it turns out to be a great fresh scent a bit longer into the wear. It has a clean feel with just a touch of spice in the dry down. You really can't go wrong with this one. There is no issue with longevity. I get 4-5 hours on clothing. Sillage is average but really good for this price point. My lady likes this scent. She says it's fresh and clean but also warm and inviting (think a little fresh spicy). This one will be a continual repeat buy for me. It's good enough to go down as a classic.

This is a beautiful fragrance, fresh and warm at the same time. It offers a good balance of citruses and warm spices. It is an elegant and polished smell, although it has been overly used by many, which is not necessarily a bad thing, since it is a sign of its quality. The first time i tried it, it reminded me of a lot of people i know that used to wear it. That is the main reason i would not wear it, because i tend to like unique things. But this is a very nice fragrance and i would recommend it. It makes an awesome office/work smell, and the performance is also very good.

I can't believe I waited so long to try this one. It's a delicious scent. First of all, I don't think it's a light fragrance, nor a generic one. I completely agree with Momenti's review. I think this is a well balanced composition, in a classic Italian way. It has everything in it: it's spicy, it's musky, it's green, it's citrusy, it has a kind of freshness that we sometimes associate to "aquatics" (but it's not aquatic); and at the same time it has a dry edge to it, which gives it some elegance, so you can wear it in any occasion.

This is all purpose fragrance for me. Start with fresh bergamot and something watery that make you clean and fresh but with a hint of iris and pepper make you handsome and smart. The drydown quite warm and tender like your skin scented. It's not a groundbreaking fragrance but absolutely charming. Absolutely worth the money, formal, informal, working day, stay at home, blazer with shirt, polo or t-shirt, meeting or vacation. Just put it on guys !

Z Zegna is good fragrance for summer and spring, maybe for autumm too. Is fresh, citrus, spicy and woody. Since first spray you can feel a very fresh sensation of to be near to the sea, although don't have acuatic notes, but the citrus notes are very pleasant. In its middle phase you smell the spices more pepper tha nutmeg and in the end is more woody and musky. It has very good sillage near to 12 hrs., but projection is regular. I like it.

Very fresh, as many here said, this is a fragance that unless you stay at home or office, you are not going to smell it, better said "this is not a outdoor fragance" because you will never notice it, it's very subtle. I like it much, indeed youthful, citrus and woody but I didn't get the spicy. I will recommended it to young people, for daytime to stay at home with your girlfriend enjoying wine, watching movies!!!

For all you "it's not complex" snobs, while eating caviar, and sipping $1,000 champagne......I LOVE that this isn't complex. It's just a simple, AMAZING smell. I'll continue to wear it while you all try to decipher 9,000 different changing scents in a 4 hour period, and end up smelling like an 89 year old grandpa.

Z Zegna is one of my all time favorite summer colognes. It smells very fresh and clean. It is perfect for "casual Friday" at the office or just for general daytime wear. It is perfect for the hot and humid climate we have in South Florida. I get many compliments when I wear it. It lasts a long time on me.

LOVE this scent. It used to be my signature. I used to always pick this up whenever I had the chance as I would get so many complements. Over the years though it's become harder to find and so now I just opt for Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc which is pretty much the same thing. Happy camper here! :)

My absolute all time favourite. I bought a Ermenegildo Zegna wallet and they gave me a tester for Z Zegna and when i smelt it I just had to have it. It is a fresh and summery scent that I would recommend for a younger audience and definitely wear as a casual scent. Rating: 10/10

Zegna Z , I really love the aroma, however, the projection of the aroma is weak. The first time I bought was in 2007, and it was love at first smell :). I still continue using this cologne. Is suitable for spring and summer days. It is citrus and spicy because of the pepper.

This is a good fresh and casual fragrance that seems harder to find and more expensive nowadays. I was lucky to find a 3.4 oz bottle for under $20 back in 2019 but haven’t seen it since otherwise I’d buy myself a backup bottle.

So sad that this is becoming so expensive/hard to find. It’s a huge favourite and carries so many memories for me! Coming to the end of my bottle, if anyone out there is looking to depart with theirs, do let me know!

I want this one, I think its not different to many fresh scents out there, but to my nose it just too beautiful and charismatic. I would use it on a daily basis to work(indoors) during summers. I like it a lot.

I believe this fragrance has been re-launched as "Zegna Classico." That is why bottles labeled as Z Zegna are getting pricier and harder to find. I assume the newly packaged bottles will hit discounters soon.

This fragrance is my weekend cologne. I love to wear it on the weekends when I am doing nothing. I love the fresh fruity, clean, summery feel of it. I get lots of compliments when I wear it.

Bought this fragrance in duty free at Gatwick Airport before going on a family holiday. Now whenever I wear it, it brings back great memories of that time. Priceless.

As it happens with Tommy Cologne, somebody gets whiffs of it during the day when you barely smell it. In such cases it is always complimentary. It's another "first time great impression scent" on my book, when I didn't knew many scents: Tommy Cologne, Tommy Athletics, Acqua di Gio and Z Zegna, in the fresh category, all brought me the same effect just to be forgotten little time after. I got used to each one and kept searching and trying another ones, but those alongside Kenzo Homme remain the best. I think Z Zegna is the better crafted and balanced; I may not feel that I ́m using a wow scent, but it is always there smelling clean and good. Tommy is a tad sweet and could be boring sometimes, but's is another key scent. Acqua di Gio I can't say much more, it's a great one, but much more popular and some notes not always pleases me. Athletics is discontinued as I know, and is the most sport-y among the scents I ́m mentioning here. Z doesn't bring presence as Versace Homme or Allure Homme Sport, but its a better take if you want something very good but more discreet, and that can be use in many places, casual, corporative and so on. It's not an Acqua di Parma (the ones I ́m thinking are Assoluta and Intensa), nor Annick Goutal (in this case Eau du Sud), if you'd prefer something more class-y like. Well, like me you could easily despise it. I ́m always coming back to this scent and remembering how it's really good. One of the best examples that less is more.

TL,DR - A 6/10 overall, a very high quality “clean and fresh” fragrance but lacks performance and uniqueness. I have the newer version that’s labeled “Zegna Classico”, according to the company website it’s the same juice but now rebranded and has all the same notes. Similar bottle to the old one but squared and the cap changed. This is good summer dumb reach juice. Smells exactly like the Zegna Uomo, which I also own, but minus the violet note. It has a generic kind of vibe and smells like a million other similar things out there but this does it so much better. This seems more luxurious and smoother, all the harshness or bite you can get from notes like bergamot, pepper, and rosemary are tempered by the iris and cashmere. Scent 9/10 - for what it is it does it near flawlessly Longevity 6/10 - completely gone in 5 hours, average edt strength Projection 5/10 - less than arms length, slightly less than average. Creativity or Uniqueness 3/10 - not unique but bonus for doing it better than any others. Affordability 7/10 - high quality juice but not as potent as I would like, so $50/100ml online is good A 6/10 overall, a very high quality fragrance but lacks performance and uniqueness.

Zegna has a pretty good line of cologne so far. All of them share this same kind of woody-nut-oakish kind of vibe. Z Zegna is probably the worst of the Zegna line that I've smelt, which isn't entirely a bad thing. I'm glad the Zegna line is improving over time! Z is fresh at first spray. It makes you say "Oooo!". That factor only last for like... Oh I don't know... 10 minutes? It then gets very woody and like a sharp grass accord. By now I would say Calvin Klein's Free copied what Z is within 10 minutes. Z is also very, very safe. There isn't anything special about it in my opinion, incomplex. It's clean, sporty, and youthful. That's what it's intended for I suppose. It does smell good don't get me wrong, it's just that the direction I'm going in as far as scents Z isn't comparing anymore. Longevity is great, that's a plus! I smell it throughout the day and I'd say the sillage is pretty decent. Update: While wearing this, I was asked by a friend if I was wearing sun tanning lotion. I agreed because I was kind of embarrassed to say I was wearing a cologne. :(

Fresh, clean, very bright and light. Spesifically made for a younger audience, it also has "sport" written all over it. I was surprised Turin (A-Z) gave it four stars, and claimed it smelled natural, modern, masculine and well made. Perhaps so, but Z is also aquatic, light and unoriginal. Nothing wrong with that, but let's call Z what it really is (sporty) and place it in a category with fierce competition. Whether you choose sport from Dior, Chanel, Gucci or Zegna doesn't really matter. They are all nice and young and fresh, but boring if you really care about how you smell. 6/10

Got 100ml for like $30, blind purchase. It's basically what I expected: a sharp, metallic, fresh and slightly dated office scent. It almost has an elegance about it but it's also a bit boring. If you want soapy, clean, fresh but metallic/sharp office scent Z could work for you. Longevity was average on my skin. 5-7 hours with low projection after an hour. 6.0/10 for me. Not terrible but nothing inspiring or anything I'll likely reach for a ton. Best for daytime use, primarily for the office or in spring/summer. I'll likely gift it.

Well...Z is an interesting one for me. At first, my favourite Zegna fragrance was Intenso then Forte then this. However it just shows you that you need a while to let them settle down and live with for a bit before making any hasty judgements. This is now my favourite, they're all of the same ilk more classy citrus business in the top notes but it's the dry down with this that makes it. I think it must be the exotic fruits that make it stand out from the crowd. This is a superb fragrance and can be worn anytime.

It's a nice scent...very similar to Davidoff Echo but less metallic smelling. The only problem is it doesn't last long. I have scent-eating skin and this is detectable reasonably well for about an hour and then it descends to a skin scent after that. I am a sucker for a nice smelling citrus/spice aquatic blend which this us but if it were not for the longevity problems I would consider a full bottle. Maybe if they had a EDP version it might solve that problem.

Very very light, clean and close to the skin, maybe too much for some, who would think this is so generic. Despiste all the "lightness", I can identify it as a woody scent (again, in a very light way). Like Tarida said, "nothing to shout about", but in the world of the so called "light/fresh" scents, this one is a safe option to me. I would use just to walk, to go to the gym, after the shower when I'm going to stay at home, or even at the office. Cool bottle.

As I wear this right now, and as it dried down...This thing is reminding me so much of Horizon by Guy Laroche. For those that don't know it, it's a fruity type of fragrance with a kind of dark water feel. This is ideal for the spring or summer & daytime. So in conclusion, it's nice, nothing spectacular but, just enjoyable. *Edit* After 10 hours, It's still hanging around so, longevity, is a-ok.

By today's standards Z Zegna is considered generic but I still enjoy wearing it from time to time. It's fresh but has some zing to it. This can be worn year round but I think the best time would be spring and summer. This fragrance will remind you of some other fragrances like Tommy by Tommy Hilfer and maybe some Acqua Di Gio. Therefore I'm going to call this Tommy Di Gio or Acqua Di Tommy.

Just bought it today!it has sharp bergamot opening, Dried down with almost like aquatic,but not aqua, Green and fresh,suit for a summer days outdoor, Perfomance and longevity 4-5hours, It reminds me of chanel allure homme sport cologne, Dried down base notes with a soft woody.. Good for a casual days out,grab n go.. Overall 8/10 P/s : another alternative of versace pour homme,

Sharp, super clean smell. Super generic, but smells very high quality for its price. I got it for under $20 at TJ Maxx. Very worth it. Doesn't last super long, but most freshies don't--especially at this price point. Nice out of the shower clean, masculine scent. 6/10 above average across the board.

The opening is fantastic, but then fades quickly into a very generic citrus, in my opinion. It gets really sour on me. Projects quite well and longevity isn't any bad too. If you really like it, go for it. But it's not my cup of tea anymore.

This is so similar to Aqua di Gio perfume. I have been trying hard to finish the bottle even though I am aware that the original Z Zegna juice is pretty rare. I’m not going to miss it when I empty the bottle.

Makes a great gym fragrance, fresh clean and juicy but a real change from a plain citrus neroli type summer fragrance, performance and projection are decent enough for this type of fragrance.

Ah ha!!! No wonder I love it so much it's very similar to Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. Subtly different and quite different in the dry down, I love both of them.

Personally, I find Z to be a fragrance that does not particularly stand out. It hovers somewhere between a sporty style and office-safe restraint. I acknowledge that it is fresh and carries a distinctly masculine tone, yet it lacks that indefinable quality that would make me want to keep it around for longer. Initially refreshing and cool, it soon becomes predictable and conservative. This is, quite simply, a modern work fragrance. I understand why it may appeal to younger wearers. It is also a viable alternative to fresh, soapy compositions built around neroli. Even so, it never gained much recognition, and I believe my review explains quite well why that is the case. My rating: Ok. (4/7)

Got given this by my dad as he found a bottle he never opened, I get that its discontinued now. Anyway, smells like pepper with a touch of citrus that's all I could pick up, its very basic with alright projection and moderate longevity, there isnt much to it, I would never buy a bottle of this, used it as a gym scent but never really found myself reaching for it.

Really boring, and cheap, iso'ey and gross. Speaking of gross, my shoes wore most of this whole bottle. Yecch. Metallic, bland, synthetic, forgettable...why did they stop making Essenza di Zegna, but continue this? Yuck.
