Zegna Pour Homme

Everyone has their own tastes but I find if you want to smell like a man you have to go back in time these days. For the past 5 years that’s what I’ve been doing, and my latest bottle from my time travels is this beauty. Latitude-29 and rowan_walters do a great job in describing this fragrance. Dry, elegant, woodsy, with a very herbal almost medicinal opening that lingers through the life of the fragrance but sits close to the skin and doesn’t come off as such in the beautiful sillage that this puts into the air. Very unique note as it was back then as I don’t remember anything from the 80s or 90s smelling similar. If you can find this and you’re sick of the sweet feminine “men’s” fragrances of today this is a no brainer.

my uncle used this perfume 30 years ago and after all these years can't find better than this smiling if anyone can guide me with any perfume similar this will be appreciated.

Dry, woody, oakmoss. Not a playful fragrance, Zegna PH is Gravitas in a bottle. Very dry, very understated, very classy. Unusual too. Can't think of anything quite like it. To my mind the closest would probably be George Trumper's Eucris. If you like Eucris you'll love this. The walnut panelling on the box serves as an allusion to gentlemanly things: the dashboard of a classic sports car or the panelled walls of a gentleman's club. Zegna Pour Homme is a dry oakmossy fragrance of superlative elegance that opens with an aromatic fanfare - a rich, aromatic, woody blend of which Oakmoss and woods are the most noticeable aspects to my inexpert nose. An intricate mosaic of notes so well-blended that they create a harmony, like an orchestra performing a symphony. There's a note in the very aromatic opening that vaguely reminds me of Angostura Bitters. But even though the top notes individually may be familiar, the harmony they create becomes a unique botanical accord of its own. Some of the notes in the pyramid above - like geranium - I cannot detect at all, and although the spices are obviously present, their presence primarily serves to enhance and enriche the woods in the base rather than announce themselves as the fragrance evolves. To my mind the name Zegna evokes the image of an elegant Italian gentleman in a suit. Marcelo Mastroianni in Fellini's 8 1/2 with those awesome sunglasses. Zegna Pour Homme evokes Don Corleone. Quiet confidence. Dignitas. Power. Not loud or intrusive in any way but understated, classy, polite, with a veil of mystery ... and cleanliness. A stylish, classy gentleman’s fragrance, quite unlike anything I've ever experienced. I adore this stuff and find it utterly intoxicating. Zegna pour Homme is dignity, confidence, power - with an element of mystery. Perfect complement to a power suit. Update 27 November 2021 Strangely addictive - understated and discreet but embracing, and mysterious like something you see in the corner of your eye or catch sight of in your peripheral vision - you know it's there and you know it's all around you but you only detect hints of it. This creates an aura around the wearer that some people detect more than others. Zegna PH definitely creates an impression of understated gentlemanly elegance that to someone familiar with classic fragrance might seem like a throwback to the late 20th century due to the heavy oakmoss but to the average denizen of the 21st century it must seem somewhat mysterious. After from the aromatic overture, Zegna PH remains fairly linear for most of its lifespan, a bewitching blend dominated by oakmoss-cedar-sandalwood and a subtle but rich leather accord - to my mind the composition recalls the interior of a well-maintained classic sports car: like an Aston-Martin DB5 or a Ferrari Dino.

It is good to see that Zegna pour Homme is added to the Fragrantica directory. Interestingly enough, I received my first ever bottle of Zegna pour Homme just today, the day I think it is added to the directory. I am happy to add the first review for this. Zegna pour Homme is herbal, smoky, and reasonably spicy (not too much). I find it to be slightly sweet, but that is not the type of “modern sweetness” you would find in recent gourmand fragrances. It is more of a soapy sweetness, if that makes sense. It does not smell too aggressive or commanding, but it is still decisively masculine. I have not had enough time to fully test this, but I think this would be a worthy addition to your collection if you are into late 80s-early 90s type of fragrances. As of August 2014, $30-$70/100 ml would be the reasonable price range for this online, depending on the size and the condition of the bottle you are buying.

to me this is SO masculine, one of those EDT,s only real men can wear, classical, a little in Narciso pour homme or Quorum vibe, so herbal, so woody,very 80s in spite of being from 1993, smells like classical high school, like a rich english college, perfect for windy autumn mornings

Olfactory, brutalist architecture. Purist & austere. I get the vibe/smell of wool-linen blend jackets, lemon (the bergamot) & shoe polish. Leather furnishings. Subliminally erotic. Makes Quorum, Antaeus & kin; which I love too, seem "dainty". A one-off; gone. Not reformulated, flankerized or copied.

I worked retail when this came out in 1993 and I sold a boat load of it. It me it's fresh but dry. There is nothing sweet about this one, it's oakmoss, cedar and sandalwood all the way. Crisp, fresh, dry, mature and extremely masculine. I'd love to get my hands on a bottle, this one is classic.
