Cherry In Japan

i've had this perfume for years and forgot to review it on here lol oops. i always whip this one out for spring, which it's perfect for. today is a dark and snowy day and i'm in a very pink mood right now, so i decided to throw it on because why not. well, i am pleased to say that this is also perfect for winter! i actually think it could be even more appealing for winter when it's a dark and depressing day out. i have a feeling it would also layer really well with a fluffy sweet vanilla, as long as they didn't become too sweet together. i'd have to try it. *edit- I was right. It’s absolutely amazing with AG mod vanilla! about the actual scent i get from it/on my skin: delicious, easy cherry blossom. i don't get the fruit cherry at all, which is what i expected, so i'm not disappointed. it's sweet and pink and happy. i used to think it smelled kind of like a fruit gummy lol. i can see why people call it shampoo-y, and yeah i kind of agree, but that's not a detractor for me. any perfume that has like 3 or less notes is probably gonna give shampoo. it is pretty fresh too, i wouldn't disagree if someone called it aquatic. so overall, if you expect a crazy and unique masterpiece, this isn't gonna satisfy you, and that's ok. but if you want a fairly simple and sweet scent then you'll be happy. it does kind of fade fast and not project well enough for the price in my opinion though. if it were like $10-$20 cheaper i wouldn't mind as much. i mean, i did get the roller first and then get a full bottle, so i like it enough for that!

Escada summer editions usually aren't my thing and are too sweet for me, but I usually test them. I saw this one in Superdrug and was curious about it, as it didn't seem like the usual. I liked it enough to buy a 100ml bottle, which was all they sold. It isn't particularly sweet to my nose, but it's definitely a floral. The cherry blossom is very prominent and the jasmine gives it a freshness that I can't really describe, as it's not what I'd describe as 'clean'. The tonka is definitely there, but it blends with the cherry blossom very nicely. I don't get any fruitiness from it and if the scent wasn't from this line, I wouldn't think it was aimed at a particularly young market, unless most of their other offerings. I didn't love Cherry In The Air, but that was very fruity to me. Besides their names, there isn't really a similarity on me. I haven't smelt anything particularly similar, despite it not seeming like a unique scent. The scent itself is very pleasant, the longevity on my skin is about 3 hours and stays on my clothes for about 12 hours, but the sillage is poor. It's not a skin scent, but I wouldn't say it was moderate either. Having said that, only one Escada fragrance was better than this one for performance and it was sickly sweet. I don't get a particular season out of this one. It's quite a linear scent and nothing screams summer about it. I think someone of any age can wear it, in my opinion.

I was looking for a playful, lighthearted summer fragrance. I walked into Ulta and bought Cherry in Japan on impulse. The cherry accord and jasmine were so refreshing on that hot, sticky day. I can see why there is some confusion about it not smelling of cherry blossoms. Despite the package and promotional materials, there is no cherry blossom in this scent! The website describes it as "cherry accord," and I agree. Not fresh cherries though, it reminds me of maraschino cherries or Swedish fish. I've noticed a trend in the perfume space, [fruit + blossom] can just mean [a hint of fruitiness + something vaguely floral]. It bothers me that this is normal practice. For the sillage and longevity, I wish the price had been a bit lower. It was $35 for the travel vial. I think $25 would have been more appropriate. At 30 years, maybe I'm too old for this scent. I don't care, it makes me happy.

Cherry in Japan gets the job done for a young girl or a teenager. It is a 1st perfume kind of perfume. Pretty, girly and bright. Smells like cherries, cherry blossoms and vanilla. Edit: 8/4/22 I revisited this again today while at Ulta. I was sampling a few other things and had to stay in the store do to a very heavy downpour. I ended but buying a small bottle of it. I felt a little weird buying it because I know that I'm not the age demo for this fragrance. I'm a 51 yr old woman. But I found myself really liking it. It's the kind of perfume you wear on a summer day when you and a bunch of friends go out for ice cream. It is sweet but not sickening, there is a freshness to Cherry in Japan. I find it very easy going, fun, and sweet w/out being syrupy. Young yes but for those that are still young at heart, and I am that. Thumbs up on this youthful little gem.

I found a 100 ml of this at Ross for $30 and since it's been on my wishlist I didn't hesitate to pick it up. I'm soooo glad I did! This is for fruity clean lovers. Initially on first spray get the Swedish fish red gummy candy some are comparing this to which I love but after it dries down I get a clean fruity cherry red soap. I'm not really getting any floral in this. This isn't a unique or groundbreaking fragrance especially with the performance being equivalent to many body sprays. (I get about 3 to 4 hours with this on) it's also not a projecting strong fragrance. I've really been gravitating towards this for a bedtime scent since it's so cheerful and fun without giving me a headache. I don't ever pick up back ups but I'd definitely snag one more bottle if i see it again at a good price since it's limited edition.
