Cherry In Japan

i've had this perfume for years and forgot to review it on here lol oops. i always whip this one out for spring, which it's perfect for. today is a dark and snowy day and i'm in a very pink mood right now, so i decided to throw it on because why not. well, i am pleased to say that this is also perfect for winter! i actually think it could be even more appealing for winter when it's a dark and depressing day out. i have a feeling it would also layer really well with a fluffy sweet vanilla, as long as they didn't become too sweet together. i'd have to try it. *edit- I was right. It’s absolutely amazing with AG mod vanilla! about the actual scent i get from it/on my skin: delicious, easy cherry blossom. i don't get the fruit cherry at all, which is what i expected, so i'm not disappointed. it's sweet and pink and happy. i used to think it smelled kind of like a fruit gummy lol. i can see why people call it shampoo-y, and yeah i kind of agree, but that's not a detractor for me. any perfume that has like 3 or less notes is probably gonna give shampoo. it is pretty fresh too, i wouldn't disagree if someone called it aquatic. so overall, if you expect a crazy and unique masterpiece, this isn't gonna satisfy you, and that's ok. but if you want a fairly simple and sweet scent then you'll be happy. it does kind of fade fast and not project well enough for the price in my opinion though. if it were like $10-$20 cheaper i wouldn't mind as much. i mean, i did get the roller first and then get a full bottle, so i like it enough for that!

Escada summer editions usually aren't my thing and are too sweet for me, but I usually test them. I saw this one in Superdrug and was curious about it, as it didn't seem like the usual. I liked it enough to buy a 100ml bottle, which was all they sold. It isn't particularly sweet to my nose, but it's definitely a floral. The cherry blossom is very prominent and the jasmine gives it a freshness that I can't really describe, as it's not what I'd describe as 'clean'. The tonka is definitely there, but it blends with the cherry blossom very nicely. I don't get any fruitiness from it and if the scent wasn't from this line, I wouldn't think it was aimed at a particularly young market, unless most of their other offerings. I didn't love Cherry In The Air, but that was very fruity to me. Besides their names, there isn't really a similarity on me. I haven't smelt anything particularly similar, despite it not seeming like a unique scent. The scent itself is very pleasant, the longevity on my skin is about 3 hours and stays on my clothes for about 12 hours, but the sillage is poor. It's not a skin scent, but I wouldn't say it was moderate either. Having said that, only one Escada fragrance was better than this one for performance and it was sickly sweet. I don't get a particular season out of this one. It's quite a linear scent and nothing screams summer about it. I think someone of any age can wear it, in my opinion.

I was looking for a playful, lighthearted summer fragrance. I walked into Ulta and bought Cherry in Japan on impulse. The cherry accord and jasmine were so refreshing on that hot, sticky day. I can see why there is some confusion about it not smelling of cherry blossoms. Despite the package and promotional materials, there is no cherry blossom in this scent! The website describes it as "cherry accord," and I agree. Not fresh cherries though, it reminds me of maraschino cherries or Swedish fish. I've noticed a trend in the perfume space, [fruit + blossom] can just mean [a hint of fruitiness + something vaguely floral]. It bothers me that this is normal practice. For the sillage and longevity, I wish the price had been a bit lower. It was $35 for the travel vial. I think $25 would have been more appropriate. At 30 years, maybe I'm too old for this scent. I don't care, it makes me happy.

Cherry in Japan gets the job done for a young girl or a teenager. It is a 1st perfume kind of perfume. Pretty, girly and bright. Smells like cherries, cherry blossoms and vanilla. Edit: 8/4/22 I revisited this again today while at Ulta. I was sampling a few other things and had to stay in the store do to a very heavy downpour. I ended but buying a small bottle of it. I felt a little weird buying it because I know that I'm not the age demo for this fragrance. I'm a 51 yr old woman. But I found myself really liking it. It's the kind of perfume you wear on a summer day when you and a bunch of friends go out for ice cream. It is sweet but not sickening, there is a freshness to Cherry in Japan. I find it very easy going, fun, and sweet w/out being syrupy. Young yes but for those that are still young at heart, and I am that. Thumbs up on this youthful little gem.

I found a 100 ml of this at Ross for $30 and since it's been on my wishlist I didn't hesitate to pick it up. I'm soooo glad I did! This is for fruity clean lovers. Initially on first spray get the Swedish fish red gummy candy some are comparing this to which I love but after it dries down I get a clean fruity cherry red soap. I'm not really getting any floral in this. This isn't a unique or groundbreaking fragrance especially with the performance being equivalent to many body sprays. (I get about 3 to 4 hours with this on) it's also not a projecting strong fragrance. I've really been gravitating towards this for a bedtime scent since it's so cheerful and fun without giving me a headache. I don't ever pick up back ups but I'd definitely snag one more bottle if i see it again at a good price since it's limited edition.

Surprisingly, this is one of the best 'food' gourmand perfumes I own. It's so sweet in the opening, like sweedish fish, but also very floral on the dry down (cherry blossom). Fortunately, this scent is very reminiscent of Cherry in the Air which was my fav Escada scent. It isn't exactly the same, but close enough for me to buy two bottles (one for a back-up). Obviously, with Escada summer perfumes, the performance isn't great. The longevity is around 4 hours and projects within the first hour, so you'll need to re-apply it throughout the day. My main issue is that Cherry in Japan is just a limited edition, meaning it'll likely be discontinued by next year, as with all limited edition Escadas; guess that explains buying my back-up bottle.

Fresh, fruity, a bit sweet, yummy and flirty. This projects so beautifully I chased down a department store employee to ask what she was wearing. This is such a fresh, youthful and pleasant scent to be around. Berry/fruity and the cherry is a fresh, bright red cherry, just like the ones pictured on the pretty box 🍒. Lovely calm jasmine and soapy-clean magnolia balance the fresh/fruity notes alongside a bit of tonka. Casual and linear. Moderate/strong projection/longevity on me, still there after 6-7 hours. I really love Escada summer limited edition frags. But in the last years instead of fruity, they have gone floral, which I don't really like, cause florals can be a bit bitter on me and I am not into bitter perfumes. But this one... It is similar to Cherry in the Air that was my first love of Escadas summer perfumes. It is not as strong, but the sweet scent of the Cherry In The Air is in there. I sprayed it in the store. I didn't get any manly drydown after. I will buy it next month and will add something, if I will have anything else to say after owning the whole 100 ml bottle for a while.

Shoutout to everyone who hoped it’s close to Cherry in the air 🙌🏻 it is almost 1:1 for me, just a bit more fruity and with a more sour cherry. The older perfume was more marshmallowy and I preferred it. But this is very Escada: sweet, slightly artificial, fun fruity summer fragrance. I burned through a small bottle of this on my summer vacation, it’s just fruity enough to not sicken you in the heat and it faints away just when it should. I do feel like this is more suitable for the younger audience though (younger than me sadly 😬)...

I loved Cherry in the Air, so I tested Cherry in Japan today, on a cold winter day (-12°C). this is not a cherry fragrance, the delicate cherry blossom has the main role. So Cherry in Japan is a floral fragrance, and a very fresh and pretty one. The fragrance's smell of spring enchanted me to buy it. I agree with almost everything that passionata20 wrote, but I still like this scent a lot. It's definitely not unique, but it's pretty enough to brighten a dark and cold day. Very easy to wear, at work or at home.

I’m sorry but I still have a little bit (literally a few drops) of the Cherry in the air and Cherry in Japan in my opinion smells exactly the same. They are 95% similar. Only difference is maybe the fact that Cherry in Japan is a bit sweeter. Love both of them. My favourite Escada is Thai sunset for sure and i recently managed to buy it again. :) I also liked Miami Blossom, Born in Paradise, Agua del sol and of course Cherry in the air (if someone wants to know my taste to compare).

Wow, this is actually beautiful! It’s light and fresh, a little bit sweet in the dry down. Very feminine, inoffensive and light enough to be perfect for spring and summer! It’s not strong, it’s not overpowering, it is soft and airy ... it doesn’t really last more than a few hours on my skin, but I will just carry a bottle of it in my bag and reapply throughout the day. The fragrance is beautiful, I highly recommend. 😍

this is the first perfume where i had the in-store experience of immediately falling in love and purchasing. it smells like sweet maraschino cherries and genuinely smells juicy, i cannot get over it! perhaps that is why i am so forgiving of its lack of lasting power. after i spray it on, i can guarantee that an hour or two later it will completely disappear. a slice of bliss for just a short while of time.

I LOVE this!!!!!! The cherry is prominent, but not in the sickly sweet cherry candy way, while it's still sweet. It's warmer and deeper than I'd expect from a scent like this. I like wearing this at night but works very well in the day too!! The longevity might not be great but it stays on clothes for more than a day

For me this smells like A sweeter version of Escada cherry in the air. So I Wonder if the notes are listed right? Or then there must be something wrong with my nose 😅😅 Cherry in the air was my favourite, this is the second favourite of Escadas ❤️❤️❤️

I love it. It reminds me very much of Cherry in the Air that I LOVED. It is not as sweet, but still, that sweet, light cherry scent is there and it makes me happy (I'm 39 and I don't think it is like a shampoo, candy or anything childlike)

If you love this and want something that's longer lasting and a bit more complex, BTSO Indecent Cherry smells almost identical. I also had Cherries in the air at the same time and that one and this smelled exactly the same to my nose.

I'm not a fan of the boozy, mature cherry scents, like Lost cherry from Tom Ford, I want the truly artificial cherry drink kind of vibe, and this is it! It's sweet, but with a clean touch, like a fruity schampoo. Great for summertime.

That’s lovely! It’s a soft, musky and fruity cherry without overpowering sweetness. It has a nice balance between traditional cosmetic-y musk and playful fruitiness. For this price, I think it’s a really good scent!

To my nose, this is Sol de Janeiro Cheriosa 62, with added cherry. Love it.

Cherry in Japan starts out sweet and heavy. Not only do I smell cherry, but it also smells of berries. It stays heavy and sweet for about 3 hours, after that this fragrance tones it down to a pleasant cherry blossom and jasmine combination. The heavy start is honestly too cloying for me on hot summer days, so I'd prefer to wear Cherry in Japan in spring. While it smells very pleasant once the heaviness fades away, I still miss a little something. It smells a little one-dimensional, almost focussing solely on the smell of cherries. It could have used a bit more notes to give it that little something extra! Now, it's almost generic smelling if not for the initial stage of heavy sweetness. I don't smell the tonka bean at all, and it could have used some vanilla in the dry down. And perhaps another flower note? But alas, the purpose of this fragrance is to smell like cherries. Which it does. So it does what it's supposed to do. I enjoy wearing Cherry in Japan, however I can also see myself getting bored with it.

I bought this on impulse as I often do with Escada scents from time to time, and I purchased this at Ulta. I have never had the privilege to try Cherries in the Air like previous reviewers of this perfume so I lack the nostalgic edge. However, after buying a few of Escada's perfumes I know that they are "just for fun." I know better to fall head over heels over an Escada perfume because most of them are literally just here for a season so I try to enjoy it in a lighthearted way. If looked at in such a way, Cherries in Japan is a lot of fun! It's really just an elevated body spray and kind of reminds me of the B&BW's cherry blossom scent I used to wear as a teen with more notes of waxy cherry in it. It's like a fun cherry chapstick cherry. I enjoy it because it simply makes me happy and refuse to go deeper than that. This release will be as fleeting as the cherry blossoms in spring so please join me in enjoying Cherries in Japan while she is still around. :)

If you are a cherry blossom lover I would say this is a safe blind buy. I really do enjoy this it is definitely a shampoo cherry blossom but it has an effervescence to it. It's a spring time floral when it dries down that's soft and fresh at the same time. I own a bottle of Cherries in the Air and I would say these are pretty close but not completely identical. Britney Spears Fantasy in Bloom is an exact dupe in my opinion. Even though this perfume is lovely I think it lacks uniqueness. I waited until I found it at Ross because every time I went to Ulta I would sample this then question myself on if I would spend full price on it or not. It's lovely but not full price lovely. I miss the Escada summer editions from the early 00s I feel they were all around better from the art on the packaging to the uniqueness of the scents. All of the editions from the past few years are basically the same boring thing repackaged.

This is a very happy scent. It is not a fresh cherry. It is more like a maraschino cherry. I had to think for a little bit, and then I figured out what this reminds me of. It feels like sipping on a Shirley Temple. When I was little, we rarely went out for dinner, but sometimes if my parents felt they could spare the expense, we would go to a little family restaurant where they had, to my childish palate, the most amazing lasagna with the thickest layers of gooey cheese. And my parents would let me order a Shirley Temple and I would feel so special. Even as a grown woman, I still treasure that feeling. I was not sold on this fragrance, but that hit of nostalgia has this one growing on me.

I hate to say this, but to me if you smelled one Escada fragrance- you smelled them all. Don't get me wrong- Escada makes wonderful fragrances, sweet, uplifting, girly, I love them, but to me each of them resembles one another. Most of them share the same DNA of that sweet note that travels from one release to the next. Same goes to this Cherry in Japan fragrance. It's beautiful, it's light, it's sweet, I do smell cherry and cherry blossom, but it just doesn't smell unique. It smells like another Escada fragrance previously released. At this point , at least in my mind, they all morph into one big sweet Escada scent.

i was really interested in the cherry blossom scent so i decided to give this a try and i really liked it! usually florals don't do well on me, but the fruitiness of this smell really balances it out. on it's own it's a nice fragrance, but it has poor longevity. i find that layering this over a smell with more vanilla/amber notes makes for a really unique and beautiful smell! i actually layered this over nest's midnight fleur and was very surprised at how well it toned down the patchouli and made a great scent! overall its definitely great i just wish it could hold up better.

For so long I didn’t like this. I thought it had to be a fragrance for spring or summer. It just smelled so blah to me and not like cherries in the air at all. Well it still doesn’t smell like cherry in the air cuz that’s a bread smell but this finally has depth and it’s juicy n floral now that it’s sat for years and I’m wearing it in cool fall weather. I never thought I’d like this, I’m so glad I tried it again in this weather cuz now it’s actually quite the stunner! I’d say base of red cherry along a light floral airy musk. It’s so me 💗🐞

Random discovery while testing fragrances in a store. Ended up buying a 100ml, it's sweet without being cloying which I think is in large part due to the solid tonka base, I personally don't see how the dry down could be seen as masculine as the florals continue to balance out the profile. I love the scent of Cherry Blossoms, it evokes younger days of walking home from school kicking my feet through the swathes of fallen petals. Only wish it lasted longer, 3-4 hours and it's gone, but that's fairly common with Escada fragrances.

Only 3 notes listed? This is more beautiful and complex than that! It is delicious, pretty and uplifting scent. It is predominantly cherry blossom, with some nice, a bit creamy and sweet base, as well as some freshness. It super pretty, only not complety my style, as I prefer stronger scents. This one is more shy than others on my collection (i.e. Amouage :D). Okay, it may not be the strong eternal niche perfume, but it is so beautiful, perfectly fresh, sweet and uplifting... I could not part with it!

This is a very simplistic and youthful scent. As it’s it smells cheap and plasticy and would be suitable as a child’s play perfume. However, it’s very sweet and I couldn’t resist having it in my collection simply because it makes me think of Spring and lollies and youth. I don’t love it but I definitely don’t hate it. I wouldn’t recommend you make a fuss to order it though, it’s nothing special.

This scent is AMAZING, and the best cherry blossom I have ever tried. It smells fresh and clean, but the vanilla gives it a bit of depth. The only downside is that the longevity & projection is quite weak. I don't mind a lighter perfume some days, but you have to really overspray it to make it last. Which is a shame because it's discontinued, luckily I have 2 backup bottles.

I just received this in the mail today and even though it's beautiful, it's so similar to Cherry in the Air, which I already have. I'm a little bummed out because I thought there would at least be some different nuances but unfortunately, they are one in the same for me. I will still keep it though, for when Cherry in the Air finally runs out.

I was not trying for the sake of the cherry. I am not a cherry person. None of it smells real. I wanted to try it for the tonka because i was familiar with the other 2 scents. Instead i get complete alchemy with all three scents blended and equal. amazing (and i don't like vanilla either) It keeps getting and better so I bought a 3.4 bottle!

The opening is super cheap and juvenile, but otherwise it's good. It gives me cute, pink, bubbly, youthful and warm cherry, not cherry blossom. It's simple in a good way. It has got this distinct warm, almond creaminess to it which I love and wasn't really expecting. Unfortunately it doesn't last very long.

Cherry hard candies in bright supermarket wrappers. I'm about sixteen, wearing a choker and Converse with white laces, with the whole endless summer ahead of me. This is Cherry in the Air’s little sister, the one I wore as a teenager: airy summer cherry, naive as a berry lollipop, and utterly sweet

What a pretty floral! This is a lovely cherry blossom, with a nice fruitiness to it not listed in the notes. It’s a tad synthetic and juvenile, but the sweetness makes up for it. This is a great walk in the park scent!

i agree with some of the users under me: there must be more notes in this then what is listed. on my skin i get a juicy cherry scent mixed with florals. a simple but refreshing and uplifting

I have both CIA and CIJ. There is a difference. The new one is more tart and less coumariny. It also has slightly less longevity. However it is still good Cherry based summer cheapie.

Such a good cherry blossom scent. It’s a perfect mix of cherry and floral, (just a tiny bit soapy and clean smelling) and it’s light enough for daytime office wear

Smells like cherry hard candy and shampoo. Very simple, a little juvenile but good nonetheless. Perfect for clean yet delicious every day scent.

100% a MILF perfume! Sexy from the tonka bean, conservative with the florals. A mom who wears pearls and is lookin' at the pool boy. Clever!
