Escada Margaretha Ley

The ONE! I cannot say much enough about how much i care and love this fragrance. Out of almost 2000 bottles i own this is probably the only one that got me compliments from both men and women at any occasion i would wear it. Men would ask me about the name, so they could buy it for their spouses, women wondered what smells so opulent and nice.... this is THE only fragrance i would keep if i would have to give up all of my perfumes! I never want to run out of it and i will never stop buying it. To me this is one of the very few perfectly balanced white florals that can be worn any season, any time of the day, any occasion and it would smell amazing. I am not that old enough to remember when it was launched and somehow back in the 90 ́s i overlooked it (was more into fresh aquatics and floral-fruities), and i only discovered it when it was discontinued and instantly fell in love. I love the smell of Hyacinth so that is why i love this fragrance so much cause to me it is the most dominant note in here. But in general it is so perfectly blended that i do not care about the notes, i just adore the scent itself overall. The EDP is the best, but fr summer i prefer the EDT as well, since it is less intense and more suitable for summer, but both are stunners! It is also linked to a very dear person of mine so when i am wearing it or smelling it we are instantly connected (love you always and forever!) Love, love, love!!! P.s. this has nothing to do with Vanderbildt or Spectacular by Joan Collins (neither in edt or esprit versions), so do not get confused. I own all of them and they are clearly not the same smelling. Even based on the notes you can tell that they are not the same. What they have in common is that all of them are very opulent and powerhouses in terms of sillage and projection.

EDP Review Let me give an example of how much I love this fragrance. I purchased 3.4 oz. EDP from eBay. About 3 oz. is left in the bottle. This much coveted item arrived and I found the spray nozzle does not work. Did I send it back....NOT A CHANCE IN THE WORLD! This is the best smelling, longest lasting, and most divine jewell in my crown. As the saying goes "this is simply the best..better than all the rest". Love, love, love this fragrance. Now I will address the staying power. Many hours after applying, several more than eight, I went to the hospital due to an emergency. Three days and several sponge baths later, I could still smell this beauty. It was my connection with the outside world and I loved it for being so. I am so nuts about this one that I just bought the lotion to match. My only question is WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY STOP PRODUCING THIS GORGEOUS EDP???????????????

Oh dear God, I miss Escada, this Escada, Escada of Margaretha Ley, a powerful woman who created for powerful women, I remember when all European Female Executives wore Escada at the Europe Feminist louge ohhh Lord what time what women, the suits the perfumes the powerful vibe. If Margaretha Ley would live to see what they did to her Escada, she would commit suicide. What can I say about this perfume, was a perfume for a powerful woman in her free time, this was wore in general at femme Polo club in Switzerland, where the high career women meet to relax and let be sincere to gossip, about what? About all this type of bimbo media promoted today and the pathetic men around them. Is light, a little sweet, I personally have never felt coconut at least not the milk, maybe its peel.

This is aömost the same as other "Escada Margaretha Ley" listed in database here only this one is in Eau de parfum and pure parfum concentration which is really intense and even more better than EDT version but i love all of them. This is a truly feminine and flower-power fragrance with a coconut touch. One of my biggest perfume loves EVER!!! When i use it i get a tons of compliments, i wonder why this has been discontinued i even wrote to escada company whether they plan to relaunch it or not and they said they might consider it if the demand is high! Very well balanced coconut, vanilla, peach and jasmine notes that seem to be all just in a right proportion. Masterpiece! I simply cannot understand why they discontinued it???!!!! This should stay with us forever!!!

The spices; the florals; the fruit; the vanilla; the musk; this perfume is what I think of when I think of perfume. Even after sniffing so many others, I wonder would this have been my desert island perfume? Ah there's the rub...how can I fall in love when I know it's gone, the last few bottles no doubt fading and certainly going up in cost: the answer is, I keep my cool and remember I still have Samsara and Youth Dew, and there are others I won't name because you will find them too. **PS - That last phrase sounds like I want to hide my favorites, but I don't: I should have said "I won't name others so you can be delighted when you find the ones that you love."**

Oh, my very first "expensive" fragrance! So "maximalistically" 90s! A chic extravaganza from that era...Unusually modern, powerhouse fragrance, a mixture of white flowers, woods and spices. A perfume bomb (how daring was I? LOL)!!! It was released, as I recall, in the early 90s. A good friend of my mother wanted to buy me a gift. So, she asked me to pick an expensive fragrance. I tried a lot of them and I liked this one. It was so unique, so different from all the rest. Bitter-sweet, dark and light at the same time, uber luxurious and unapologetic. At that time, I had the 25ml EDP. Oh, my God! I really miss it! Absolutely oustanding! Only for the braves!

I suggest that all the fanatics of this Escada masterpiece should send a message to Procter&Gamble prestige asking to bring it back. When i did so, i got a reply though this one has been discontinued if demand is high it is likely that this one can be relaunched. Escada are almost always eau de toilette. This one was a limited edition parfum. I clearly remember this one lasting an entire day: smelling the clothing from the day before still had this perfume's light scent. This was a magical floral perfume in that I wanted to hug my mother whenever she wore it. This wasn't the type of perfume that made itself known except to those who the wearer would allow. An effervescent floral. After this one, my whole family started collecting Escadas. My sisters, me, my mother and her close friends.

When Escada was classy and elegant not cheap and Ibiza beachy as it markets now, I don't understand why they discontinued this. This is by far their best quality and high end one to date. Very classic and sophisticated for a young well styled girl who doesn't have the fake implants and extensions. Ah, the good old nineties before so much rhinoplasty. Wore this and felt feminine and chic in 1994 without feeling too old or powdery. Fun times.

I am hoarding my last half filled 100ml of this - I adore this scent, fresh, naturally sweet, golden floral sensual, sexy and classy. Only discovered about 8 years ago when a shop in this country had it parallel imported in big bottles for a bargain price - no tester available bought a bottle then went back and bought the lot. Nothing else I have tried has come close to replicating this scent it is a wonderful summer warm weather classic.

Ylang Ylang is a rarity in newer fragrances. Clove and Hyacinth especially. It's got the Vanilla, Musk, Coconut indulgences you all want but that's only part of what completes ML. Iris and Peach harmonize while Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Sandalwood do their little dance. Those can be found anywhere though. It is vintage and tropical in a bottle.

Yesterday I had recived 100ml EdT. Was pricey,but there is no price tag on sentiments::)) Very sophisticated and elegant. I waited 20 years to be ready to wear this fragrance and now it is part of my DNA . I have reserved another bottle ,also 100 ml. ,but EDP this time and I wonder if they both smell the same. I feel devine !

Escada Margaretha Ley edp. Best of Escadas. Ever. A scent associated with so many memories and faded dreams A scent that gave way to new and realized ones. A scent that is still in my top ten. Again in my closet after almost three decades. I even bought back up straight away. Gorgeous floral with a kick. Hidden gem.

@lolapoop yes EDP smells as EDT, but EDP feels more complex and it has more body on it.....if you feel rich with EDT, then with EDP you’ll feel super rich and creamer...it’s stunning!!!! There are no words to express the feeling about wearing this scent....also EDP lasts, lasts, lasts and lastssssssss forever 😂

This is the best parfume I have ever smelled, and it performs so well. I have only little left in my original bottle and treasure it. For the past year I have tried to find something similar, with no luck. My only hope is that they will bring this back and I can make it my signature scent.

I got a bag of over 60 80s and 90s sample cards and this was one of them! This is one of my favourites out of the bunch. It’s sweet and spicy and the dry down is simply perfect. They don’t do musks like this anymore! It’s a typical heavy vintage and that’s why I love it!

This was by far the best fragrance by this house. A sexy red masterpiece that was also romantic and had fantastic sillage and longevity! On a bed of soft cloves and vanilla with touches of cinnamon Interwoven with fruits and flowers this was a masterpiece.

Love it, it is well layered fragrance, that changes and develops during the day, very feminine,delicate, exquisite and high class one. A little goes a long way and the sillage is fantastic too!

This is a really deep, sensual and feminine perfume. I love it. It reminds me of Organza. It is suitable to be wornand especially on evening.

A million thanks to the wonderful Action who sent this lovely surprise perfume gift to me!!! Margaretha Ley - this one shocked me. In a really good way. When I applied it to my wrist I found it to be too strong, too feminine, too much of everything - but within 2 minutes I smelled one of the most delicate and beautiful perfumes I have ever smelled. It is very feminine without screaming "woman in her reproductive years right here". It is a special occasion perfume, too, but not one for evenings out or feeling like a seductress. No, it is perfect for a dinner with the man you love. Or a weekend somewhere else with the man you love. This is one perfume that I would not want to waste for random people. I want my husband to smell it, I want him to want to sniff my neck whenever I wear it. I want my friends to ask me what the name of that gorgeous perfume is when there is a trace of it left on my scarf but I would not tell them. I would say, I can't tell you what it is because it is discontinued and hard to find. Then one of my friends would say, that makes sense but I could search for it on amazon or ebay. And then I would say, hellooo, I don't want you to buy it because I want it... why do you think I am not telling you the name of the perfume?!?!?! Notewise, I can really smell the peach, jasmine and a bit of vanilla but cannot single out the other notes. This perfume smelled familiar, too, and it smelled similar to something I have used recently: It smells similar to Oriflame Believe. They are in the same family as Action would say. If you love one, you'll love the other.

I tested it again 2 y ago, thinkin "blurk", I've had this miniature for about hundred years, well at least 20; I'v tryed to sell it, but nobody wants it, even as less as 30 kr for a nearly full bottle, it seems to be stuck with me, yes, I kinda like it, but bob-bob.... but, than I tested the little unwanted heart again this evening, and suddenly it said BANG!!! I must agree with the other reviewers, this is much, and so goood, and it is as an A-bomb making a crater on my arm, and smelling as something else of cause, but, this perfume was always in the shops when I was young, but I thought it was too powdery and lily-on-the-vally-thing for me, but, today, or, evening, I'm just asking, why on earth did it take so loooong time, and now, where do they sell this beautiful intoxicated water???

Vintage bottle. The first thing that came to mind when I smelled Escada by Margaretha Ley was the Monoi Tiki Tahiti Tiare body oil I picked up on a trip to Hawaii. Looking at the pyramid of notes I can see why! I get a lot of frangipani initially. Then a strong honey note comes through—this note can sometimes get sour, conjuring up the dreaded old granny perfume vibe, but I find this to be the case only on some vintage bottles. This sour note disappeared after a few more sprays over time. After an hour the honey note melts into my skin almost seamlessly, until it becomes a creamy, floral whisper. Such a lovely scent! As an Escada collector, this represents the house’s aesthetic and design ethos of the early 90s: ultra chic, feminine, loud, expensive, unapologetic.

Classic woman's frag. I'm a man and I got this as a free sample for my Stronger With You Absolutely purchace. Wore it once and the nostalgic scent of my crush back at middle school suddenly kicked in. I know it's an exaggeration but at least that memory of my 90s is back. I like it. I will not wear anymore tho, because everyone around me thought that I wore a baby oil before went to work.

I had a vintage M Ley and on my skin it reminds me alot of Lancome Poeme with an extra note of coconut. Longlasting. wonderful and superfemale'ish. Hard to find those days, sorry to say. Jag hade en vintage M Ley och på min hud påminner den mycket om Lancomes Poeme men med en extra dos kokos. Hållbar. underbar och superkvinnlig. Mycket svårfunnen nu för tiden tyvärr.

Beautiful vintage edp with extensive performance. One spray last all day and night. I still smell it on my skin after a shower the next day. Great ylang with a hint of spice. There really is nothing else like it on the market today. My sprayer almost seems to stick a bit but still performs a complete spray each time as someone else has mentioned. A real gem this is.

Was given a vintage sample of this from a lovely lady i swapped with. At first spray i got intense soapy florals, smelling very 90s It began settling in and softened as I smelt clove and peach coming through. I thought hmm a soapier version of coco, I'm really enjoying it. I really love the strong soapy luxurious vibe i got with this, smells very high quality.

Love, love love it! I wear M. Ley & had the Escada Collection version as well. The EDP has a sort of "cola" note to it...moodier, more syrupy/boozey yet dry. It is a beautiful fragrance. It is very strong however. Don't overspray or you will pay for it. It has the strength of Red Door IMO. Try it!

What perfume smelled like when perfume was a real thing - not the molecular experiments they seem to be today. The transformation from heady, floral explosion to a soft, spicy veil is like magic. And it is GANGBUSTERS - she hangs around all day.

I'm not reviewing the scent, but I have about 2/3 of a 25ml. EDP bottle left. I would be will to send it to someone who would love it, for the cost of shipping it.

I have the big bottle from my mother-in-law's former collection. Loved it and it's great on me. I'm not surprised to see that it's an oriental.

P.S. My best luck that I have had finding a large source of this has been at Duty Free shops in the airports, and also on Ebay. Cheers!

Escada, Moments and Cascaya, for me the golden trio of the ‘90s.... All magnificent!!! ❤️

If you're a hyacinth-lover - go for it. It's really really flowery with this creamy and sweet undernotes. I myself really don't care for the hyacinth-note (eg in COLORS of Benetton women) - makes me uncomfortable and wishing for a tin of coffee to sink my nose in. I'm end-twenties and have the slight hope that possibly I'm still not mature enough for this kind of scent. The topnotes just made me think: Be strong, you can do it. But still felt they sucker-punched me... After 20 min. of keeping my arm away(be careful not to put on too much) I can kind of enjoy the olfactory nuances - wouldn't think of wearing this - but to track down the notes (after the damn hyacinth is gone) is quite a treat. There's even a quality of sharpness after the topnotes, that you don't smell in the usual perfumes of today. Maybe my mother could be coerced to use up the trial-sice, she's all flowers right now, but even for her it might be too strong...

This originally belonged to my daughter. When she moved to Europe she gave me her perfumes. I thought I would like it because we usually enjoy the same scents. However, try as I might, I just don't like it. I have gotten compliments, and been asked what I'm wearing, but I find it too overpowering. I have enjoyed these notes in other fragrances. I guess it's just the way they are combined in this one that really doesn't work for me.

Very old fashioned vintage. Came from a lady with bunch of E.Taylor perfumes in collection so you get the gist of the scent profile it is going to. This is acquired taste you had to grow up loving this type of perfumes. I wouldn't dare to put this one on personally..

This Escada and the other one with the red box from1990 are the same .They smell exactly the same!!!I think Margaretha Lei is the more intensive one between them.But no differences at all

This is a must for vintage perfume collectors. I have over 250 perfumes, it would be in my top 3 list. The EDP is lovely and rich, and gives you a signature, where people recognize that you have arrived. This white floral, fresh perfume is complex, lovely, rich and lasts for over 10 hours on the skin. This is what perfume making should all about. Unfortunately the art of perfume has decreased with synthetics and not long lasting sickly sweets as perfume. This perfume has a personality, but do not use too much is the key. It is a perfume that is floral, teases and then torments. I think this perfume is quite distinct The EDP is so much better and is quite rare. The body lotion is amazing, the 7 ml concentrate is heavenly. For bold confident women, it is definitely worth a try. The perfume wears differently on clothes compared to the skin. It has attitude, boldness and femininity. Yes it is a mature perfume for the discerning.

In my opinion, it is quite strong interpretation of Poeme Lancome. Margaretha is definitely less sweet than Poeme, it is a serious oriental beauty. Reminds me also original yellow Giorgio Beverly Hills. Not suitable to be worn in Summer but it makes a perfect thick cashmere alike shawl for winter time. Complex, classy, I would see it being worn by an elegant successful woman in her 40's. I don't get much vanilla, peach or coconut on its own - the juice is blended in a way that single notes are not really detectable on their own. Margaretha Ley is a complete contradiction to most other Escada fragrances which are playful, joyful, fresh, fruity and light. I say: if fruity Escadas do not rock your boat, try Margaretha Ley which is totally different and stands out as an extremely elegant fragrance that I would dare to compare with Chanel creations.

This is the real deal, a complex floriental fragrance that exudes intelligence, femininity and power. It starts off with a cola/root beer vibe floating about a blend of florals as masterfully done as those in Poison, where you can't in truth identify a particular note (though the two fragrances smell totally different). As Escada Margaretha Ley develops on your skin it turns rich and syrupy with a powdery, old-fashioned makeup feel. About four hours after application, the character of the dry-down can be felt, and it is warm and sweet, faintly vanillic, ambery maybe, reminding me of the interior of a lady's leather handbag, with a faint coating of fragrant dust from spilled powder. This review is for the EDP. True beauty, and nowadays, hard to find.

Was my first parfum I wore when I was grown woman to my mother who gave me a bottle for my 18 birthday. For me this parfum bottle in heart shape remind me of Victoria Secret Rapture but they are not the same. This is more floral with beautiful orange blossom ylang ylang and jasmine but for me is more fruity with sweet tasty peach and the coconut is watery like milk. Very sweet parfum but grown up and very confident. I smell in the dry down clove and warm vanilla. Spicy and musky. This parfum is hard to find now but I buy on eBay when I feel like being 18. Thank you mama.

It is the second time that I buy a bottle of Escada, luckily I found it. It smells to me very special, bitter-sweet, fruity-floral, as well as creamy at the same time. I think I have the right chemistry for this scent. The right personality too - strong. I really do not astonish why is it so controversial; this is not a simple scent. What I wonder is why is this scent not being produced any more... A last much personal ascertainment: Escada reminds me of a naturally precious smell, that of a dusty street after the first rain...

I just got this and agree with the review by Drugstore Classics. The very first thing I thought of was L'Origan! This is very big and flora, but also has a nice, deep spiciness. I also catch the powder which I really like in a perfume. Mine appears to be a vintage bottle and for $16.99 at a Goodwill store, I am very impressed. I always look for vintage perfumes at Goodwill, but don't often find such a great deal as this one. They certainly do not make them like this anymore!

I'm not sure the notes do this gorgeous floriental justice... My surprise may be imagined when I opened my adorable mini and smelled far more than mere floral goodness. In fact, the spices in ML remind me a great deal of L'Origan. :D It's like a very BIG, floral version of L'Origan, to be specific. Powder, Flowers, and Spice! That's Margaretha Ley. :D My word, but they don't make 'em like this anymore! Five Stars <3 <3 <3

first spray of it is terrible and strong but the dry down is delightful and creamy not to mention classy and original real mature scent particularly compared to others playful young summer editions this is one of the older ive tried from escada luv the bottle i dont think i could buy it just because of that first harsh part but ill spray it in the shops if i see it just for that dry down

Cannot believe they actually stopped prodice them.One of the best smells.Love it!!!!In the mean time they became hard to find. I had it when I was 18 years for the first time,so no it is not for older generation.It just some parfumes you can wear or not.It is simple as that. For example escada signature makes me physically sick and lots of others..summer pop.yuack

An amazing, unique chemistry! With quality and natural ingredients that makes The difference. A beautiful creation made by Escada's mother,actually The only one made using her indications, just one year before her premature disparition. So bad this scent disappeared too... Yes, all The good things come to an end, sooner or later.
