Cologne One

Geza Schön in my opinion is one of the grandmasters of contemporary perfumery. Escentric 02, the whole 01+ series, the incredible Ormond Jayne pieces, Wode... Over the years, Geza has created this architectural composition. Each new fragrance reorganises or expands the basic structure. However, this one is different - or seems different at first. I blindy bought it as in my mind, the title of this work, Cologne One, as part of the universe of Escentric Molecule, is probably the best name possible. So, there will be a Cologne Two?! wow....! Abstractions and Deconstructions of the art of Eau de Colognes. At some point in my life, I decided to get 40 testers of different classic colognes and learned a lot in the process. So here he is, with his one and only... How does it smell? First impressions: Davidoff Cool Water? Axe? 80s locker room? 90s Hotel soaps? Pissoir stones in a London club in the 2000s? the structure of this perfume is right there. Why? what is Geza trying to do here? IS this the most unradical work of his, an absolute common place? Or is the radicality exactly there? When I close my eyes, when I try to forget all my experiences for just a moment and smell my wrist, I get goosebumps. So beautiful, perfect. dried black tea leaves, a softness, a "yes, its ok", relax, lovely, now I remember why we loved all these smells, I am falling in love again and open my eyes: My arm smells of locker room. Pissoir. The hotel that tried to be luxurious but failed. Geza knows what he does. This is no locker room / hotel shower smell. Well, real beauty is something very close to the ordinary... that is not ordinary. Morandi's still lifes. Bach's piano pieces. Jiro Ono's simple nigiri. I am not sure I am ready, mature enough to understand this perfume, overcome my associations. My respect goes out to Mr. Schön EDIT: suddenly, all memories returned. I studied in London, moved in 2001. In the first days I went to Liberties. After several visits I decided to buy a perfume I fell in love with: CREED: Silver Mountain Water. Geza did a new contemporary version of this experience. I'm in love. EDIT (2): another memory: CK One. This perfume is somewhat a deconstructed CK One. Imagine a trajectory through time that begins with a complete explosion: a non-gender/ all-gender perfume in the 1990s. CK One arrives with a scent that is both clean, crisp and gentle... this story continuous with the heavily sophisitated Silver Mountain Water by Creed... and now drifts into the future, deconstructed and pure, with Cologne One. EDIT (3): i have lost all association. this is really beautiful. not obvious at first wiff. but now it is.

Escentric Molecules makes a Cologne and the price stays consistent with their Edt scents and I worry that they're becoming a bit money-grabbing, but then I read that they let the concentration of this remain the same as their Edts but that it's the STRUCTURE of Cologne they're embracing as apparently their Edts are created to be more linear? True for everything but the Escentric+H01 perfumes which are regular perfumes which is what you SHOULD compare this to, as the Molecules and M+ lines are just one or two notes, so how could they NOT be linear? But I digress out of incompetence. The package is nice, a blue box filled with tiny holes that align with the design of the inner box to remind of the perfume's frizziness and freshness. It's the third Escentric Molecules offering to want to compare itself with a Gin&Tonic (after E02 and E02exdp) , which makes me worried that they're running out of ideas but also always worrying on a personal level since I don't like Gin&Tonic. Thankfully my concerns are once again squashed because this is a super fresh lemon blast first and foremost, but not in a M+ mandarin peel zest way or orange cleaner chemical way, but a very refreshing fizzy drink way, which is where their comparing themselves to a bubbly drink has for sure paid off. Longevity is, as with most EM perfumes, okay but not amazing, some 3 to 5 hours with most of the intensity gone after a couple and just a great intimate skin scent lingering on for a few more, which is what I'm expecting at this point. As always it's also light enough that it's difficult to overspray - this will never get cloying, you can just put on more if you want to increased strength for a serving, but you won't kill the air in a room going in with this one regardless. I sound a bit negative in this review but I do love this scent a lot, the first couple of hours are REALLY invigorating and uplifting and is perfect to pick yourself up on a tired morning or giving you the energy boost you want before heading out for a night on the town.

This is a true cologne And what is that you wonder It’s a citrus based scent with little to no white florals influence It’s not something new But definitely something grand If I had to mix a couple of scents that equal this creation they are (Cedrat enivrant ) by atelier cologne 50% - the opening and the rest of the scent (Homme) by YSL 25% - a little of the mid (02) by Escentric Molecules - the dry down It’s a magnificent summer scent to be precise but I’d wear it everywhere and anywhere Geza Schoen is a molecular master by now maybe some of the brands direction isn’t my favorite but they do produce special creations every now and then

Opening with an ultra-realistic blend of lime, lemon, juniper berry, and mixed citrus, a touch of ginger makes this feel exactly like wearing a crisp gin & tonic. Surprisingly, the fresh opening lingers before yielding to a soft iris heart. It eventually settles into a musky, subtle amber base, amplified by Iso E Super to create a beautifully personalized skin scent. This sample is officially gone, and I need a full bottle immediately. It has official signature summer scent potential.

Not sure how people are saying this doesn’t last. I’ve had this for two weeks now. It LASTS on my skin. It’s very fresh, but in a new style to my nose. It’s not a typical freshie. It’s got a gin and tonic likeness to it but not like you doused yourself in an Alcoholic beverage. It’s not too “sweet” either. It’s somehow playful but mature at the same time. I’d say this is a perfect summer signature scent if you’re looking for one.

Hear me out. There is a STRONG Abercrombie fierce undertone in this. The OG. It’s a really nice scent - and I kept thinking it smelled familiar - until I realized...OG Fierce! Not a clone - but a sibling.

I just received this in the mail today. I'll give it a full wearing and report back. I could smell it through the box, which is a really good sign already.

Incredible fragrance. Smells exactly like a gin and tonic with lime and mint. Fresh, bitter citrus with a cooling effect. Icy and invigorating

Notes I pick up on: Bright bitter citrus rind with ginger, light mint, & juniper berries. First wear wasn't impressive, almost too bitter for my liking, a bit harsh. Wore it a few more times, grew on me. Something different for me in this southTexas heat & humidity. Longevity seems a bit weak to me.

It is quite sharp to begin with, smells very realistic limy gin and tonic cocktail , very refreshing and awakening. I am quite into citrusy freshy, but this is lining too masculine for my taste. Best for hot summer days, evenings .

Very citrusy and very green, but after about 10 minutes it becomes a skin scent. Hardly worth purchasing an entire bottle. The dry down is nice, but it is also is a chore to smell it on my arm.

Realistic Mojito & ginger but quite abrasive and not much more.

I am so sorry but this smells like straight up fish. It's so bad that I couldn't even go back for a second sniff. I thought it must just be me having a weird reaction to the scent, so I had 4 other people smell it and they all recoiled. I don't know what the hell is causing this fishy smell but it's horrendous.

Finally got my hands on it. After wearing it all day, here’s my take: For me, it opens with citrus and juniper, somewhere between E02 and Voyage Parfum. It develops into a sweet, slightly resinous, but very green scent! In the end, it leans heavily toward Irish Leather—without the leather! Juniper and Iso E are very present in the drydown. Above all, the longevity and sillage are truly top-notch here! This is a fragrance that everyone will notice!

For some reason this smells much more herbal than citrusy to me - it’s a very fresh, almost forest scent for me. Definitely more on the bitter side but neutral enough to be a unisex, universal fragrance, however the dry down seems a bit more masculine. Somehow more minty than gingery on my skin, reminds me of a refreshing shower. It will be a good summer scent.

Extremely hyperrealistic lemon/lime opening. Also, it reminds me of gin and tonic with how almost bubbly it gets. Surprsingly the citrus lasts a while too. I'd say this is a nice release, a very well-done fresh citrus fragrance. It's simple but really well executed.

The bitter-citrusy opening immediately separates from the floral heart of hedione with water lily. The drydown is more comfortable and beautiful, with soft amber and iris. Just a hint and a synthesis of the iconic CK One heart, but only in the drydown.

Just got this one and its excellent,it reminds me of something from the 90s,different from anything else from the line,works perfectly in the warm weather,definitely check this one out if you like 90s style fragrances 👍🏼

¿¿¿ IS THIS from the perfumer SCHÖEN ???... ¿¿ IS this related someway with the JEREMY FRAGRANCE "Fragrance ONE" fragrance?? ... (wow... 3 times the word "fragrance" in the last 4 words)

Reminds me of Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey with a modern touch. Interesting composition.
