Molecule 01 + Black Tea

I've worn Molecule 01 + Black Tea all day and I'm so happy to have this fragrance in the collection. My summer fragrance last year was M1+ Mandarin and in the cooler months at work I was rotating M+ Iris and Patchouli. I say this to remind myself that while this was a "blind buy" I definitely had a clue what I was getting into. The tea hits me right away once this is sprayed. Like other reviewers have stated the smell of black tea bags is very present. I find it extremely pleasing. M+ Black Tea is considerably heavier than M+ Mandarin and much more casual than M+ Iris. The Iso Super is definitely here but like M+ Patchouli it blends so well that I don't really notice it. M+ Black Tea will be an amazing spring and summer fragrance. This definitely fits into that daytime category with the exception that this would be an amazing fragrance for evenings where you need to be considerate of others noses. Like nearly all Molecule fragrances this will do great layering. The projection and sillage are slightly below average. This is the type of fragrance where the scent seems come and go as it pleases, unless you're intimately close then the scent consistently sits about 6" off the skin. But the longevity is there on my skin. Is it on the next morning? No. Did I reapply twice throughout the day? Yep. Id say a beautiful fragrance lasting 5-6 hours is OK especially for a lighter fragrance. M+ Black Tea is a green, slightly earthy, almost spa like tea scent. It doesn't claim to be anything obscure, it's beauty is it simplicity and I'm so glad that simplicity translates to such an amazing fragrance. - 9/10 - Spring, Summer. To me, this smells like a very sophisticated professor who is addicted to caffeine, wears corduroy or tweed jackets, and never sleeps, but in the best way possible. Getting lots of dark academia vibes from this one. The black tea accord is simple and straightforward. Black tea with no frills--no sugar or milk. The Iso E Super lends a soft, woodsy, comforting scent that, on my skin, smells like a warm cashmere blanket or a leather jacket. It's perfectly unisex and just a tad citrusy as if the black tea was scented with bergamot or lemon. It makes for a great Earl Grey tea scent, and I could definitely see layering this with either something sweet and lactonic, or lavender/floral, to create a London fog fragrance, but it's also beautiful on its own. Lots of reviewers mention poor sillage, but I found that it lasted a good 6-8 hours on my skin when I wore it yesterday. When trying out a new fragrance, I always shower and moisturize to give the perfume the best chance possible. Perhaps on dry skin, it doesn't last as long.

This is such an addictive, perfect hyperrealistic scent that smells of brewed black tea, or maybe a whiff of the tea leaves themselves right before brewing. I can almost imagine a cup of tea that was over-steeped and left to sit on the counter to cool: it's incredibly vivid. Sharp, dark, clean and has this elegance to it that I can't get enough of. This is one that I become accustomed to while wearing, and then find myself catching hints of it on myself and falling in love with the scent. I can't get enough of it: this is exactly the simple, clean black tea scent that I want to wear all of the time in the summer and spring as a standalone scent. For the price point, I wish that the longevity was much, much more long-lasting, as its' projection ebbs down to be a skin scent for me after the 2-3 hour mark. I find it to be a shame that I have to reapply this one to truly make it last, but it is such a perfect scent that I absolutely had to full-size this one.

Whether you are planning on layering this with another fragrance, or just using this on it's own - this smells terrific. As people wrote here before me, the scent really does invoke the smell of freshly prepared black tea. It feels very home-like, very soothing and gives a sense of sophistication to every moment it's used in. Longevity is ok, projection is rather poor, but not a deal breaker for this fragrance at all for me, not every perfume needs to project 20 blocks down the road. Works great for summer, but works the best for the transitional seasons where tea is more common. From my experience - layering this with Aqua Dubai by Al Haramain gets the latter even closer to cloning LV Imagination, and improves the performance EVEN MORE. Yes - it's quite expensive for basically being the scent of tea, but it does so very well, so for those looking for this kind of scent, it's worth it.

The combination of tea and iso e super is heavenly. the realistic tea note and hug of iso e super makes me keep wanting to sniff my arm. not likely to be a divisive scent, the people i've showed it to seem to love it as well (including fragrance-averse people). the simplicity of it also makes it a great everyday wear, likely to be fine in an office. not too sweet, not too bitter, not too smoky. i can't smell it after a few hours but it's definitely still there because later in the night i get whiffs of it again! Got a sample of it from a decant website to try, then bought the full bottle when it was on sale on another site (100£/100ml, i can see why people might think its overpriced but i love it so much that this now appears reasonable, esp compared to other pricier scents on my wishlist).

This is a really nice, and inoffensive and fairly realistic black tea fragrance that projects just enough that people know you're wearing perfume without making them think you spilled tea on yourself. Although I imagine if you over-spray people will think you spilled tea on yourself. But, if that happens don't worry, it's not some fancy tea shop blend, it's the people's tea, a concentrated gallon jar of Lipton's that's been brewing in the sun all day, and you've just unscrewed the lid and leaned over to smell it as it off-gasses. While I do enjoy this, I'd like it more if it were not this particular tea. I can't see myself ever getting a full bottle of this. For me Bvlgari Pour Homme fills this tea niche, and also has a little bit more going on that makes it more interesting and versatile.

I recently bought this perfume as a gift for my boyfriend and it smells fantastic on them. Thankfully the longevity of the scent was much better and lasted a few hours more than the 1 or 2 of the 01+mandarin I purchased for myself. The projection was also stronger, less close to the skin, but still best enjoyed being up close and personal. They wore it when we went out the other night and I kept finding myself grabbing their wrist to have another sniff, it smelt fantastic. Definitely a more justifiable purchase than the 01+mandarin (even though I love that scent) because of its increased longevity. Overall I would say if you like the smokiness of black tea leaves and want something that has a realistic tea leaf scent than this is a wonderful choice, I may end up buying more for myself.

Really disappointed by this one. I get no black tea at all, just this very weird citrus + rancid fruit top note that dries down to something vaguely rooibos-esque? Just a really weird rotting oranges → herbal tea evolution that is really unpleasant to me. Envious of anyone who can pick out actual black tea from this one, was really hoping I'd get one of my favourite scent notes out of it. OCTOBER 2023, AN EDIT: I retract my previous review. Call it inexperience if you will but 6 months ago I don't think I really knew what to look for, or how to drop my preconceptions of what a "tea" note should smell like. After wearing it for some time *trying* to like it, I get it. This is actually wonderful. I'll leave my previous review up as testament to my wrongness about this one.

This is the most realistic tea I smelled. It is a mix of green and black tea, and unisex. Smells modern, highly expensive and cooling. Not as ”comforting” and soothing as designer tea frags usually are though. I love it, this is a lovely mid day frag that smells great, and actually a bit like you used a high end soap. Edit 6 hours: Clearly detectable and it has turned into a magnifiscent green spring fragrance. Gives me some 1828 vibes from histoires but more modern. Verdict: 5/5 for what it promises. Extremely elegant. Very impressed with the whole molecule plus line. Update 2026: I re-visited this and god darnit if it isn't very similar to Azzaro Pour Homme in the opening. This is definitely more than tea, it's very barbershoppy to me now.

My boyfriend and I have been testing this for a few days, and it is so good 😍 • Soothing and relaxing black tea. May 2024 update !!️ Bought a full bottle in January, and it's already very well used. This is such a beautiful scent, and has quickly become one of my favourites! ✨ It's soft and delicate, but also fresh and uplifting. Perfect all year round . I see that a lot of people struggle with longevity, but this lasts all day on me.

Recently tried this in John Lewis, sprayed it on my pulse points and left. It ended up lasting all day even through washing my hands (and wrists) with soap. Opens citrusy, bright, and fresh, the dry down is woody and the most photorealistic black tea I have ever smelt (besides the real thing of course). Silage isn't crazy, but that makes it good for the warmer weather and crowded areas or for work. Found a BNWT bottle for £60 on Vinted and bought immediately. I love this scent, it is very cosy and I have been wearing since I got it, not overpowering in this warm weather. Would reccommend trying before buying as the Iso E Super note is different for everyone, personally it works for me and I really like it.

I love it so muchhh Found it totally by axident, smelled it and emidiatly bought it. I wasn't even looking for tea scents at the time, but after having this one I sure am now. Like everyone says, it is very photo realistic. I drink black tea very often, and being able to wear that scent feels really soothing to me. I'm sensitive to smells, a lot of perfumes give me headache, but this one feels so light, just like holding a cup up to my lips. I was traveling with my friend when I bought it, and after buying wore it almost every day till the end of the trip, and my friend reported to me every time she was able to smell it off of me, and based on her reports the projection is not that bad.

I don’t know if it was an off day with my first wear but it’s definitely a nice black tea bubble around me this time with the molecule 01. I enjoy it a lot. I wish they had this as a travel bottle size like they’re coming out with several M+s but I can’t say I’d be opposed to buying a FB at this point. I need to try out the others before committing to that consideration though. I just purchased a small bottle of tea tonique as I’ve heard that’s a similarly good scent. M+ black tea has nothing else but mate and black tea notes. Idk where people are getting floral from this from honestly unless it’s how the iso e super is blooming on their skin

I've been looking for a good, straightforward tea scent and I think this could be the one! At first spray, it's black tea, freshly brewed and rich with a slightly woodsy finish. I find it very comforting and warm, perfect for cooler days—though the sillage isn't the strongest, so it'd work well on warmer days as well. It reminds me a bit of a tea-scented lotion in a nice hotel. It's not too complex in notes or evolution, so the fragrance remained the same on me throughout the wear. It lasted for around seven to eight hours on my skin. Overall, another simple yet impressive scent from Escentric.

as an Asian tea connoisseur this fragance reminds me of a fresh brewed Pu er Tea, its a black tea but the strongest roasted and preserved . a budget version nishane wulong cha if you slightly layer it with some citrus fragances. overspray with a photorealistic citrus fragance you can create a liptop lemon tea scent, while if you layer it with a sweet vainilla lactonic gourmand fragance you can create a boba tea milk tea smell. the possibility for layering are endless with just basic ingredients fragances. proyection , longevity and sillage are a beast when layered

This one really scared me when i first sprayed it. I swear it smelled like cattle poop at first. Luckily, it disappeared after like 10 minutes. Then almost an hour later the tea scent started to come out and it's beautiful tea scent, slightly sweet. Its not too strong, its suitable for all seasons and Its definitely unisex. Despite being an edt, the longevity is pretty long, on me it lasted around 7-8 hours. The sillage I would say its rather intimate, they won't smell you coming but they will smell you leaving.

This is the most photorealistic black tea that I have had the pleasure of enjoying in a fragrance. Prior, Floraiku's The Moon and I was. That one veers a little bit into gingerbread territory. This does not. Right as it's about to, it pulls back. The comments comparing this to lemon, licorice, green tea etc. are incorrect. What you get is smooth black tea. It is like hovering your nose over a tin of loose leaf tea. If a black tea scent is what you would like, this is full bottle worthy. It's excellently done.

I recently treated myself to a full bottle! From the moment I first tested its welcoming tea notes, I was completely hooked. As I keep writing everywhere, I am a tea connaisseur (connaisseuse). I drink tea every day and I own many tea frags. This is a great fragrance. Straight forward black tea with citrus. Earl grey like. Not the loudest nor most long lasting frag, but a great one nonetheless. The Time by The House of Oud is the best tea fragrance in my opinion. (Check out my review if you're into tea scents)

Love this. This smells like the dry leaves of black tea. It's fresh in a dark manner which is what I need. It's calming, chill, and mysterious. There are pops of citrus, but that's how black tea comes across. This pushes far off the skin in the opening at least for an hour and this lasts an entire workday. I'm able to smell this in my bubble for about 5 hours and that's enough for me.

I am obsessed with this scent I CANNOT stop smelling my wrists it is healing me and I’m not kidding. There is something about it that is genuinely calming my anxiety in like a physically noticeable way. Sooo comforting and clean smelling. I don’t know if I would necessarily say that this smells like tea but it also doesn’t not smell like tea? Buying a full bottle asap either way

Extremely satisfying smell. It smells exactly like Black Tea and is so green and clean. BUT the perfomance is very poor. It lasts for a MAX of 15 minutes on me. It stayed a bit longer on my mother, though it is very mild. Sillage and longevity is very weak, but the smell is so good! Definitely the best perfume I have smelt, but it does no difference wearing it or not.

Smells great, like a sorta dry tea, woody and have some herb note (different that the tea one) kinda creamy smells like a body lotion. But overall it's a great fragrance, long lasting, good performance (i sprayed a little on my shirt and stills lingers +9 hrs before. Very mystic and charismatic like everything from this molecule 01+ line

This is such a beautiful and nostalgic scent. Delicately spiced black tea with a lil cedar. It's simultaneously cozy and warm and bright and fresh. Long-lasting on skin and projects just enough. For me this is slightly more feminine but maybe because it makes me think about my mom and friends moms from the 90s (very comforting!).

When i got the sample, i loved it so much. I love black tea and it's so hard to find something that smells like it - not sweet, just dry and woody ... idk if i wore it too much, but I got the full bottle and it just doesn't smell as good to me lately. Smells like raisins or something. Oh and it has criminally short longevity.

Beautiful, light and cozy. Amazing photorealistic iced black tea and moderate to long lasting longevity. Bought this for me and my partner, but sadly on his skin it smells like a funeral home. It’s soo interesting how different molecules develop on different people. I can also see how people think it’s similar to Dear Polly.

When I tried this on paper last month, it was just wonderful fragrant black tea. Now, on skin, there is an odd powdery floral note hovering over the top, and there is a dense, almost smoky, leathery wood in the base. I think I’m going crazy, but it’s almost like a (much!) lighter TT Ursa!

Super realistic lemony ice tea smell! It's very refreshing and wearable on an everyday basis. It layers nicely with something simple with orange blossom if you want to push it more toward green tea smell. If you like the original Molecule 01 and like black tea, this is a no-brainer.

this just smells so good. woody, a little sharp, dry, dark. never overwhelming or sweet. gender neutral. just beautiful. unfortunately it lasts for like fifteen minutes!! if i could smell like this every day without having to reapply 20x, i would buy a full bottle in a heartbeat

I’ve tried it randomly and absolutely loved and bought the full size. It smells like Earl Grey tea with 2 teaspoons of sugar. This slight sweetness make the woody tea sound brighter. It’s moderate, comforting, definitely for every day use, good for every occasion

Juicy, moreish, photorealistic black-tea scent. Sounds boring on paper, but on the skin it's symphonic. Feels perfectly unisex, and can be worn day or night. Longevity is probaly the biggest minus given the price point, becomes a skin scent in just a few hours.

Love it! Realistic black tea and the amazing molecule 01. A perfect, unisex, anytime, anywhere fragrance. A white t-shirt scent. Molecule 01 + iris is my fave and this would be #2. I love the mandarin too but it has zero Longevity.

This is a solid, light and clear black tea fragrance that works well on its own or layered ( i like it with Le Labo Labdanum 18). It does fuzz down into a softer, woodier experience with time. Refreshing and easily wearable.

A unique fragrance with a strong black tea note. It's distinctive yet safe because it smells so clean on the dry down. Definitely a compliment-getter. It also works great when layered with citrus fragrances.

This is the one and only molecule fragrance I truly enjoyed and want. It is very simple, straight forward sweet black tea. Very light, very unisex. For a tea perfume lover a good option!

Very realistic tea note, but more like the dried tea leaves, it's calming, relaxing and changes on your skin constantly from fresh, to herbal and then ozonic. Absolutely beautiful!

Watcha see is what you get! Black tea and nothing more. Most accurate tea note i’ve ever smelt, probably not worth the price tag for something so linear however

Now this is my favorite molecule. There are no strong male notes, definitely unisex. Lots of fresh, pleasant citruses and a tart tea note, just a delight.

It’s fresh and slightly herbal, shame because it has a very weak sillage/longevity. I like the smell and the times I pick it up.

I tried layering it with Eau Sauvage Cologne and the result is just divine! THE fragrance for summer!

Having reviewed my Escentric Molecules samples, I find them quite uneven, and a gimmick at times. The party trick of bottling a single synthetic aromachemical and selling it as a perfume is wearing thin, and it certainly worked best with the earlier, more abstract "molecules" comprising 01 and 02, Iso-E-Super and ambroxan respectively. The Escentric counterparts, featuring the same aromachemical but with other notes chosen to "enhance" it did not work in my opinion - they all seemed to be sour, synthetic "freshies". But I confess myself impressed by the newer M+ collection. While Molecule 02 is my favourite, I find the addition of one note to the Iso-E-Super of Molecule 01 results in decent, pleasant perfumes without sacrificing the appeal of the original M01. The abstract warm woody musk of Iso-E-Super lends itself well to this task, versatile by nature. Here, black tea is the note in question, melding nicely with the Iso-E-Super. The black tea is realistic, fresh and herbal, developing on my skin, becoming more prominent as it progresses. It has soft floral nuances, enhancing its greenness beautifully. The Iso-E-Super lingers in the background, slightly sweet and woody -unmistakable. It sets off the tea note beautifully, placing it centre-stage and acting as a fixative. The tea lasts for longer than I expected, but it fades to a single-note Iso-E-Super scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a unisex, spring/summer scent. Tea is a note I always appreciate in a fresh scent, its distinctive clean herbal quality deeply refreshing. M01+Black Tea is a lovely example of a tea-dominant scent. Simple and linear, but pleasant and inoffensive, the Iso-E-Super plays its background role to perfection here. Like the rest of the M+ collection, this is an improvement on M01. 3.5/5.

I have again fallen into tea fragrances and have revisited this fragrance. Tea dominant fragrances have similar interpretations, and what set them apart is how nuanced other notes play. Orange blossoms, citrus and musk seem to be popular choices among the parfumees, and rightfully so. This stays on the side safer side as well, and I like it, but its not something special or unique. That being said, this is a very office-friendly, versatile fragrance. Of note, I do smell lemon and pink pepper on this, yet I don't see this listed. Pink pepper adds that texture and lemon shapes this into a fragrance, in my opinion.
