Molecule 01 + Mandarin

For what it is this is excellent and honestly now my favorite Orange/sea breeze/freshie inoffensive pleasant type of scent ! But with that said it’s simple but VERY good, however if you’re expecting something extremely different or unique I’d try something else. For me I get kind of the opposite of what others are getting ! Others are saying it starts out very refreshing and then gets sweeter but on my skin it’s the opposite !! On me honestly I thought it was just ok for the first 15 minutes as there’s a weird note that smells very slightly of a barn but again 15 minutes that goes away and it morphs into a very bright,smooth,pleasant orangey smell that in the air gives off almost an ocean breeze type of smell. Kind of in the Millisime Imperial territory but that’s much more complex. (But in the same category of freshness) This smells good on skin but smells much better in the air !! For a freshie this lasts a very long time as I smelled it 24hours later with only 2 sprays however it had s very light projection which I actually like as it makes it a perfect work scent as it’s so light and inoffensive. The crazy thing about this is after a week it’s cracked my most complimented list which I did NOT expect as it’s so simple but I guess this just works with my skin chemistry (This also works perfect layering with Molecule 04,Millisime Imperial and actually made Love and Luck smell more expensive) Overall rating -9 out of 10 ! Very simple yet likeable for yourself and those around you ! It’s becoming one of my favorites and I’m so shocked this performs so well

Wow, this is really nice, it’s the most accurate mandarin perfume I’ve sniffed so far! Might challenge my number one mandarin forward scent from my collection, Guerlain’s classic Mandarin Basilic line! This is pure, freshly squeezed mandarin peel and juice. Super photorealistic and naturally delicious. Very simplistic if you think about it but it’s done beautifully. 100% safe blind buy if you’re interested in citruses.. For some reason, I didn’t expect Molecule 1 + Mandarin to be so good but I love it. A beautiful, warm, but refreshing mandarin focused fragrance perfect for sunny summer days! Goes without saying on my to buy list. Don’t know if Escentric Molecules do smaller size bottles or travel size, but if they do this will be an automatic purchase as soon as I finish writing this... Edit 25.03.2025 My travel size Molecule 1+Mandarin has arrived today and I’m already packing it mentally for my May holiday! Edit 2, 05.05.25 I had the travel size with me for my Crete trip and I used it up. It was just perfect for those early spring, sunny days but I struggled with how subtle it was and how quickly it disappeared. Will not upgrade to a bigger bottle, it’s just too light for my liking.

This scent is beautiful. I tested the scent in store one day and could not stop thinking about it, a month later I bought a small tester vial to help me decide whether it was truly love at first scent or not. Unfortunately, the answer is both yes and no. First impressions are that the scent itself is very photorealistic mandarin, not it's sweet juice but it's skin. It's as though you've gone up to a mandarin tree and picked a couple mandarins, the fresh green scent of the leaves and the citrus scent of the mandarin skin is wonderfully fresh and gladly (for my tastes) not too sweet. The projection is quite low, it hugs close to your body and definitely is best enjoyed if you prefer that intimacy, but unfortunately there is very little longevity. It is a scent that will need to be reapplied regularly as it doesn't last for more than a few hours at most. I am in love with this scent but unfortunately I don't think the price point is really worth it due to the lack of longevity, especially not as a blind buy. I recommend buying a tester first to see if you love it enough to justify the price as I did. I will be buying a full bottle eventually but not any time soon.

My wife thinks this smells very strong, but the ISO E super for me is hard to pick up. The mandarin is juicy and amazing. I wore this grocery shopping, was loading my car afterwards in the parking lot, and a woman pulled up next to me and said she wasn’t going to say anything in the store but seeing me again she had to let me know I smelled amazing. She asked what the scent is called. Got a little lost when I named the brand. But she said, “whatever it is, it works!” I think some noses will smell this more than others. And as others have said, the ISO E super can be noticeable and then not noticeable to the wearer. I stopped overspraying this thinking it was light, after so many easily noticed it with only 2-3 sprays.

Got some decanted to try on before buying a bottle. All's been already said about the mouthwatering mandarin opening, but it's rather hard to smell anything on yourself 10 minutes in. It's very likely that this is a noseblind situation, but at this price point, I'd want something that I myself can enjoy without having to spray half a bottle on. I see the hide-n-seek "holocene" has referred to, so I'm going to give it some more wear before making a final call on buying full size. Further updates to come! :) Update: I did end up buying a full size bottle, and couldn't be happier with that purchase. Surprisingly enough, this has become one of my most complemented fragrances!! <3

I used to work next to an Italian coffee shop that had one of those super fancy orange juice machines, the ones that you put whole oranges in so it extracts all the zest, a little pith, and juice of the orange. The place would run it every morning and the whole shop smelled AMAZING, this perfume smells EXACTLY like that! I love it! Agree with other reviewers that it is a great pick me up for the morning. It is super fresh, citrus and summery - all the things I want from a perfume. The staying power could be a little better but overall extremely happy.

Almost finished my 30ml in two months and it was a nice experience. I'm in love with this perfume, the mandarin is, in fact, a realistic mandarin and not some candy version of it. and it works well for me both in the gym and in the office. It's very intimate and inoffensive, but it's there, and it last fairly good on me. Not sure that I want to buy a 100ml bottle though, as nice as it is, I don't think that it is worth it for me. And the bottle design is something very close to me. love that techno futuristic vibe

Beautiful, photorealistic tart juicy mandarin. Smells like the spritz of citrus oil that's released when you open a real mandarin. The base of Iso E Super is clean, fresh, and smooth without being soapy. This sits close to the skin and is perfectly unisex. If you prefer a sightly sweeter and juicier citrus, try Summer of '84 by Kerosene. It has stronger lasting power and a larger scent bubble, if that's what you're after. Both scents are perfect in their own right.

Fantastic scent. This one is fresh with the opening of mandarin, you get a blast. I have used it at work now and it last all day. The people who says it dosent last must be nose blind. The people around you loves it, and its just a scent you can use in the summer day, office or a just as a allrounder. 910 from me. Sorry for my bad english.

The (extremely specific) smell I love the most in the entire world is when someone peels a mandarin orange in a stale room. That is what this fragrance gave me and so immediately it had me in a chokehold. Dries down a little sticky sweet, which I don’t mind so far, but the star of the show is the opening. Lovely!

It smells fresh and clean. On me, it smells like citrusy cologne. On my mom, it smells almost sweet, tart-like. I actually like this a lot. A perfect scent for hot and humid days when you are looking for something fresh and zesty yet skin-like. Very photorealistic mandarin.

This fragrance has been the only one that I could find that has an ACTUAL citrus note in it that cuts through the mud like a knife. I use this for all of my layering purposes as it's the ONLY fragrance on the market with a true citrus POWER-NOTE!

I love the OG Molecule 01 and haven’t been a fan of the others. This is definitely the exception. The juicy mandarin note dominates but it’s refreshing and perfect for Spring/Summer. I hardly detect the base 01 but I’m sure it’s there.

i can't prepare you for how photorealistic it is. every time i smell it i can almost feel the juice running down my chin. maybe it's unsophisticated and one-note—hey, sometimes a girl just wants to smell exactly like mandarins.

yes it's a realistic scent of mandarin orange, but a very sour green orange. if you like citrus scents then give it a try you won't regret it because the longevity is also pretty good.

Realistic mandarin orange If not even the best out there, ofcourse as a fresh scent it has a moderate sillage and longevity. Absolutely great for layering Wish it lasted longer 6/10

I have to agree with the other reviews saying this is photorealistic. I smells exactly like rubbing a mandarin on my skin. The smells lasts for about 15 hours on my skin.

Too expensive for such simplistic fragrance + hate the bottle without cap, but smells absolutely incredible in summer heat when the IES projects off the skin hard.

This smells identical to the scent of peeling a Cutie mandarin orange 🍊 It's really lovely however I'm not sure that I want to smell like a Cutie 😂

Love this! Fizzy, photorealistic mandarin, makes me feel prettier just wearing it. Not too sweet, not synthetic, just lovely and bubbly and fresh.

I and my wife shared this awesome fragrance, especially in hot weather. Simple but refreshing. I have O1 and 04 and 01 is still the best!

Very realistic, easy to wear, kind of reminds me of the guy that brings a book to a pool party.

If you want to experience this fragrance, go to your kitchen and grab a mandarin. Slice it in half, and smell it as a whole. Do you want to smell like that yourself? Then definitely try a sample of this! Do you feel like smelling like that would get boring or annoying? Then I don't even recommend a sample. Because this literally just smells like a mandarin. Zero bells or whistles. The zesty burst of mandarin juice as an opening, the fruity smell of mandarin pulp to follow it up, and the fatty-waxy smell of mandarin peel to finish off. Not "fun" or "elegant" or "interesting". Just photorealistic serious mandarin. Even the smell aspects you'd consider "impurities" are accurately captured. I thought I'd love it, but it's just nice and I'm not wowed. With M01+ Iris, the musky-velvety sweet fresh wood effect of Iso-E is clearly there. Here it's barely detectable. Instead, Hedione is very prominent past the zesty mandarin juice burst. I have pure Hedione (sorta fatty transparent jasmine) to wear on its own, and I've never tried a fragrance that's so reminiscent of it as this one. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more Hedione than Iso-E here. This seems less M01-centric than the name would suggest. I doubt I'll prefer any of these M01+ flankers to original M01. Its incredible smell is only diluted or dampened when it's mixed with something IMO. But if you want to smell like a mandarin, this one is definitely for you!

Although I like the M+ collection better than the original Escentric Molecules, Molecule 01+Mandarin was not my first choice to try. Given that the Escentric scents tend to be dull, sour citrus "freshies", I wasn't won over by the idea of mandarin as the key note. However, I was pleasantly surprised. In keeping with others in this collection, it features Iso-E-Super, the "molecule" concerned in Molecule 01, alongside a high-quality iteration of the named note, here mandarin. M01+M opens with a radiant, realistic mandarin note, juicy and sweet, permeating this scent with orange. It is uplifting and sunny, in striking contrast to the sour, dull citrus notes of most of the Escentric scents. The named note is the focal point of these M+, with the Iso-E-Super acting as a fixative. The versatility of Iso-E-Super lends itself well to these scents, underscoring the note in question with its musky, woody, slightly sweet abstract goodness. The mandarin lingers for longer than I expected, but it becomes a single-note Iso-E-Super skin scent as it dries down. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a unisex spring/summer scent. A simple, linear scent that allows its named note to shine, in the manner of the other M+ scents, M01+M is a beautiful example of a mandarin scent. 3.5/5.

I love citrus, I love oranges, and this is my favorite orange scent. There's many, many things I've never gotten my nose on, but for me, this is the best orange fragrance I've ever smelled. Terre de Hermes was the champion, but this is simply better in that department. Unfortunately, longevity, and projection are the issue. As an experiment, it's fantastic. Judging purely on the scent itself, it's an easy 10/10. The issue is, it doesn't last on my skin, and it doesn't work the same coming off my clothing. As a scent to wear around the house on day off, or on a warm day it's impeccable, but wearing it to work may see it fading rather quickly. I can't justify the price for something I'm not going to get everyday usage out of, or for something that I can only wear on the hottest summer days, but if the price ever comes down, this will be an easy purchase just to experience that fantastic orange and the way it transitions. It starts out popping and bursting with pure mandarin, like you're peeling an orange right there, then morphs into the sweet orange itself, freshly squeezed orange juice, then gets the tiniest bit bitter and sweeter, like the scent of the inner rind and pith. If you're a fan or orange and citrus, the scent is immaculate.

These molecule scents don't tend to agree with me; to my nose/on my skin it's almost always the (sometimes rather harsh) synthetic/chemical element that wins out over any other aspect, however nice the actual scent in the background is. Or maybe it's simpler than that and I just don't like the smell of Iso E Super very much. Anyway, for some reason it doesn't bother me in this version with mandarin orange. The realistic mandarin note somehow slots into the molecular one very well, and in this case the latter only serves to underline the bright juicy quality of the former. Yes, the result is a simple, almost photorealistic citrus, happy and sunny, and I understand how that might bore some people, but I personally can't get enough of this kind of scent - they're such moodlifters when done well, and this one really is! I don't need it in my collection, which already contains many similar scents, and those who are looking for something like this can probably find cheaper alternatives that are just as good. But I like it, I like it a lot!

This is hard to dislike, but I think it would be harder to love. If you've sampled Molecule 01, which smells exactly like pencil shavings, you can guess exactly what Molecule 01+ Orange smells like: pencil shavings plus orange. It doesn't stay with you very long and even the orange settles down to mostly a skin scent within an hour. But as with Molecule 01, you can still catch faint whiffs of it after an hour when you move around, so you pretty much engender an atmosphere of freshness and cleanliness. It's the sort of thing where you smell vaguely nice but people aren't even certain you're wearing fragrance. For some people this might seem ideal, especially for the office: it could be legitimately called a fragrance for people who don't like fragrance. But would those people go to the bother of shelling out money to wear this? As with the original, this flanker seems more like an interesting experiment than something I would actually want to wear regularly.

I'm a lover of citrus fragrances and the smell of citrus in general. Unfortunately, this scent did not grab me. I do not find it to be photorealistic as other reviews have found it- it lacks a certain juicyness to it. It reminds me of a less juicy version of an EmergenC powder- a bit dry, tart and unripened. The scent is not unpleasant, but perhaps a bit synthetic, and after an hour or two it is gone. I've tested my sample multiple times and in multiple weathers and havent found the same success others share of this glorious scent trail. Power to you if you love it! (My preferred citruses in no particular order thus far are Hermes (kumquat of Jardin di Monsieur Li), Phlur (Tangerine Boy) and ADP (Arancia di Sicilia))

This is a great, fresh scent for the warmer days. At first spray, it's bright, juicy and refreshing orange citrus with a hint of woods in the background. It smells as if you're in a woodshop and just bit into a clementine, letting the juice dribble down your chin and get soaked up by the sawdust on the floor. Very straightforward, as there's not much of a journey at all with this scent—it's orangey and woodsy for the entirety of the wear. This lasted on me for about seven to eight hours. Overall, another great formulation by Escentric. What it lacks in complexity, it makes up for with its olfactory experience.

An extremely realistic orange in the opening. It's striking to me how good this orange note is, and how good the black tea note is in Molecule 01 + Black Tea. Some of the best examples of those notes I've smelled. Both fragrances behave similarly though. By the one-hour mark, this was about 25% mandarin orange, and 75% iso e super/ cedar. I don't find anything remarkable about the dry-down of these Molecule 01 fragrances either...no addictive muskiness; just droning, sharp woodiness. Still, worth trying for lovers of mandarin orange!

Brilliant, sparkling and juicy mandarin blast upon opening. Geza Schoen really worked his magic with this citrus, it will put a smile on your face. This doesn’t last long though, then the familiar, airy cedar wood M01 comes through. This was definitely meant for those who were cult followers of the original M01, but wanted a little extra flavor thrown in to mix things up. Anyone else looking for a long-lasting citrus, or a complex scent amalgamation, is going to be disappointed. It does what it’s intended to, and unapologetically so.

I adore the opening, however, even as Geza acknowledged with the intent of this fragrance, it fades very quickly and what you're left with is the plain Molecule 01. So based on the first 5 mins of wear, it's one of the cleanest, freshest, purest citrus scents. It dances off the skin. literally. very soon after all trace of it is gone. If the mandarin had better staying power, I would love to have a bottle of this, but because it doesn't, it doesn't stick out from any of the others in any way that makes me want to own a full bottle.

It smells like a citrus grove. Someone here said it's like mandarins in a wooden box, and I totally agree with that description. I can imagine the farmer picking up the oranges from the trees and placing them into a wooden box. It's a bright, safe, and happy scent. It's pretty linear and maintains that citrus smell even in the dry down. It also has a hint of Terre d'Hermes vibe, but it's more relaxed and no dirty oranges here.

This one smells like you rubbed orange essential oil into your skin. Photorealistic, yes, but not in a freshly cut orange way. It smells exactly like mandarin essential oil. There's a faint woodiness and grounding that I think comes from the Iso E Super, but only if you put your nose right up to your skin. Sillage/projection is very faint. Longevity is as would be expected for a citrus perfume. Unisex.

Absolutely gorgeous, one of my favorite citrus scents ever. Of course it doesn’t last super long but what else could you possibly expect. When I first spray it on, I get the photo realistic mandarin scent but I also get a slight sweetness that smells like a handful of gummy bears.. I don’t know if it’s just me, because I don’t see other people talk about this

I like this. I do love a bit of mandarin and this is bright and juicy. I like iso e super as well, and both go well on my skin. It's definitely unisex, ever so slightly more male. It reminds me of Guerlain's orange soleia, which is also unisex and which I also like. They are both overpriced though in my opinion. I will keep an eye out for a bargain.

Both the orange juice and the Iso E Super are present from the first second to the very last. I am not very fond of the woody vibe the IES gives the overall combination, but that juicy, sparkling orange note lasts much longer than you might expect so I can definitely appreaciate the idea. This is my favourite from the Molecule + collection.

i am enamored! the simplicity of the citrus and musk.... very photorealistic opening of mandarin/orange as if you had just peeled the fruit and the spritz of the skin fills the air then the dry down is wonderful soft musk blended with dried orange i smell like an orange hard candy! no sweetness at all just a slight, almost creamy remanent

ugh wow the first spray smells like you've pulled a sun warmed orange off a tree and sliced it in half. wanted to take a bite of my wrist. that photorealistic mandarin smell fades fast and becomes more muted and less orangey. i got m01+black tea and m01 samples too, and they all fade pretty fast on me.

What fun. I could be squishing a fresh juicy orange in my hand. Cedar comes in a later, somewhat musky (even smoky) too, with that ever present sparkly orange. Sticks around for hours, at least on me. My first 'Molecule' frag and considering the longevity and potency I'm sure to try some others.

This is an inoffensive, musky, minimalistic woody and citrusy (mandarin peel) scent. It also has a fizzy sparkling citrusy almost carbonated smell. Really close to the skin, I like it. It doesn't project a lot, its obviously also not the made for it. Unisex and office safe.

Very simple fragrance. You smell like pencil shavings drizzled in the thickest, pulpiest fresh and zesty orange squeeze. The sillage is illusive, but never quits; surprising with subtle reminders all day long. It is unique and pleasant.

I bought this for a friend because they loved it and then they heard the price and asked me to return it. This is a perfect gym scent. Light, happy. It's not amazing but it's an easy reach in the summer. Beach, gym, outdoors.

The mandarin is sticky and syrupy though very on point, personally I think it could do with a hint of grapefruit to cut through that. Actually would like a grapefruit and ISO E Super but I do like this a lot 7/10

100% smells like mandarin Jarritos and I’m so here for it! The more you spray the spicier it gets in a medicinal way. I do wish it projected better, it’s like a cologne. Smells uh-ma-zing layered with vanilla.

Realistic mandarin orange. I am a citrus lover—for fruits to eat—so I like this one a lot. Good to layer, especially with simple vanilla. Or with Adidas Get Comfy to make citrus stand out.

I wouldn't call it photorealistic, missing the sharper zing of citrus, but I like this soft version of mandarin. Not sure I can smell ISO E Super. Overall a gentle pick-me-up fragrance.
