Molecule 01

SOTD Review - Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 has been a staple in my perfume wardrobe for 15 years. I still remember vividly the first time I smelt it. A colleague was wearing it and walked into my office and my nose froze in shock and awe and my brain tingled! “What are you wearing?!?!” .. “Oh, You can smell it?”, was her reply. She removed the bottle from her handbag, handed it to me to let me spray it on myself and she then went onto tell me it’s origin story and how I could only buy it on t’internet. I was hooked!!! Addicted!! I couldn’t stop sniffing myself all day, my brain doing somersaults trying to get to the bottom of this scent, these notes!! I purchased a bottle that night as soon as I got home, and yes, I could still smell it on me. I’ve learnt over the years that my nose loves synthetics; ambroxan, iso e super etc. I’m aware that how our unique olfactory systems process synthetics means that people experience the fragrance differently, some not at all... so here is how it’s smells to me; This is gorgeous! Brain tingling, clean, fresh and woody, with a bright yet gentle sweet floral. It’s cool and sparkling but is also velvety, powdery and with a slight hint of amber to it. The bright floral is quite forward to me, but a floral note I can’t explain, which makes my brain tingle and my nose love it more. It’s almost like a violet and bluebell hybrid mixed with violet leaf. But it runs apparel with the fresh woodiness. It’s neither white, green nor blue. It’s difficult to explain, as they aren’t separate notes, rather a complex, olfactory singularity. It’s amazing! They say that Molecule 01 interacts with your skin and smells different on other people. I honestly don’t get this. And I do get perfumes that smell beautiful on other people and yet settle into my skin unpleasantly. But here, how I describe Molecule 01 is exactly how I smell it on other people, the same, always, all the time. The projection and silage is high to my nose. It’s not over powering, this can been worn anywhere, but it’s definite and distinct. When I walk into a room, or if someone walks past me on the street wearing it, I can immediately smell and identify it. I can smell it all day! The only slight difference I get to the scent profile is dependent on the weather. In warmer months the floral is more forward, when it’s cold in the winter the woodiness is more forward but the floral is still there. It was ground breaking at its time of release. And since then there have been many others in the same vein as a singular or forward synthetic (JHAG Not Perfume). But Molecule 01 was love at first whiff for me. There’s a strong scent association of happy memories there also - my colleague and I unknowingly bought each other a bottle of Molecule 01 that Christmas after she introduced it to me. Our respective other half’s had also bought us bottles!! It was an Iso E Super Crimbo! It was ‘our’ perfume. If I had one negative thing to say about it, it would be the bottle, especially for the price point. I really don’t like it. The shape, the feel, the horrible ‘chemistry’ graphics. When my colleague pulled it out of her handbag and handed it to me, I thought it was some dupe perfume, amateur, badly made and without thought or feeling. It’s creatively vacant and doesn’t really didn’t match the amazingness my nose and brain experiences. It deserves better. I just love this perfume so much. If I was asked to paint a picture to describe it, I would say wearing Molecule 01 is like standing naked under a cool, refreshing waterfall in a lush green forest, with the odd scattered, fallen, decaying tree, as a breeze carries the scent of the forest floor filled with other worldly white, blue and purple luminous flowers towards your nose ...on another planet, in another universe.

First of all, I want to start off by saying that this is NOT just Iso E Super and alcohol. All these reviewers saying "make your own for way cheaper" have no idea what they're talking about. This actually contains Iso Gamma Super which is not commercially available and is ONLY sold to Escentric Molecules. So although you can create a similar version using Iso E super, it won't be the same as molecule 01 both in smell and performance. Also, if you really do want to make it at home I suggest using timbersilk as that is closer to Iso Gamma Super than Iso E super is. Anyway, onto the review. I blind-bought this thinking I was going to be one of the people who didn't smell anything. I knew that a lot of people get OF from it instantly and I bought it because I live in Dubai where the heat goes over 130 F during the summers. I've heard that this is an insane performer in the heat so I ordered a bottle for an amazing price as most fragrances can be found pretty cheap in Dubai. I bought it for $73 and all I can say is wow I'm lucky. Thinking I wasn't gonna be able to smell it, I sprayed it on and was instantly hit with a gorgeous synthetic smell. While I do agree that it smells sort of woody, the scent reminds me a lot of satin for some reason. It's so clean and smooth and intentionally synthetic and overall just a wonderful smell. I sprayed this about 3 hours ago and it is still projecting like crazy. The projection is constant and doesn't die down. However, the "hide and seek" effect with it is definitely real. I get hit with a sudden strong smell of it every now and then and I absolutely fall in love. I'm pretty sure the hide and seek thing only happens to the wearer and that other people are constantly smelling it as I keep getting complimented by my family members (who usually hate a lot of my fragrances). I also went out in 122 F today for about an hour and I came back and the smell had not faded one single bit. This is definitely not your typical perfume. Molecule 01 is to your skin what laundry detergent is to clothes. It makes you smell clean and fresh with a really intriguing smell. (Note: I am not comparing the scent to the smell of laundry detergent, it's just an analogy.) Overall, I'm in love with this and I will definitely be rebuying once it runs out.

One of my most favourite fragrances. I first smelled this at work when a client returned their bottle and the nozzle wasn’t on properly so it got all over my hands and sleeves I thought it’s a nice fragrance but didn’t give it much thought. Every single time I would wear this jacket the smell which remained on my sleeves would put me in a really good mood I would get a rush of excitement every time so I asked my family to get me it for Christmas because I love it so much. Fast forward to Christmas time I’m so excited for my new 100ml bottle I was fantasising about smelling like it for the longest time only to get absolutely heartbroken when I sprayed it and realised it smelled like nothing. I was so confused why I’m suddenly nose blind to it and so disappointed that my family spent so much money on it I didn’t know how to tell them I’m sorry... I was absolutely devastated so I put it away in hopes of the scent maturing over time but also because I didn’t want to get reminded about my biggest heartbreak. So I forget about it for almost a year i truly forgot about it until I find the box in my wardrobe somewhere while cleaning and out of boredom I give it another try, i couldn’t believe my nose when I sprayed it, i even started tearing up because there it was! the same scent I fell in love with a year ago at work, that scent that got me through long days, the scent that always brought a smile to my face. I was so happy it felt like I’m levitating, long story short I went through the entire bottle within a few months it was the only perfume I wore and learnt all the tricks about it, I find that layering it with black opium turns it magical. Imo It smells very conceptual almost like nothing but everything at the same time, it smells like denim and something robotic like futuristic it’s very hard to describe but it’s different for everybody. In conclusion please don’t give up on this scent if you’re trying it for the first time yes it might smell different to everyone else but to me it smells like pure ecstasy

This is a really interesting fragrance. I got this in 2012 and I still have the same bottle with a small amount left in. When it opens, sometimes I am anosmic and all I get is a strong blast of alcohol. Usually this disspates and I can then start to detect the scent itself. It can disappear and reappear which is me going occasionally anosmic to it but it always pops back up, and I know it is long lasting because people comment on this long after applying so it has both good longevity and sillage. It also lasts (literally!) forever on clothing. I can just about smell this on the neck of a coat I haven't worn in years, it's that impressive! It's smells almost sharp and woody, like cedar or pencil shavings. It's very clean. Like someone could just smell this yummy after being freshly washed. Sort of like the inside of a wooden drawer, it's musky and almost dusty. There is a deep richness that I find quite addictive and intoxicating. I can notice this in other perfumes, such as Narciso in the white cube. It's nice to layer with other fragrances (like Narciso) but I usually wear it on it's own. It's very unisex, and interestingly I always reliably receive comments when I wear this. It isn't always compliments, but often people are curious and comment to say that's so interesting, or that they could smell this from a good distance away, or ask what I am wearing. It's never in a displeased way but I do think it is interesting enough for people to know it's a bit out of the ordinary and not your typical perfume. I haven't worn this in a long time so this was my experience in 2012-2015 ish, so I think with the rise of "molecule" type fragrances it may not be so out there anymore, who knows! Also interestingly, this bottle is so old that the liquid has gone a bit sticky and can feel almost tacky on my skin. It's not causing any irritation to my skin so I'll keep wearing it until I finish the bottle and consider replacing it as it's quite nostalgic for me and I enjoy having it in my collection.

This is more of a science experiment than it is a perfume. And I’m perfectly fine with that. I’m not entirely certain I’m buying the “single ingredient” statement. The slightly spicy cedar wood character of iso e super is certainly present, but I also quite frequently get a musky aroma that wavers back and forth very gently between slightly floral and slightly animalic. There’s a slight cashmeran quality to it as well. The final “dry down” - if there is such a thing with Molecule 01 - most frequently seems to go to darker woods that are generally absent the pepperiness that came with the cedar wood type aroma at the start, veering almost in a leathery direction. As noted by the brand and many reviewers, all of whom are completely correct, the behavior of Molecule 01 is quite odd. It does have a habit of pulling a magician’s disappearing/reappearing act with your nose. At one moment, neither you or anyone around you can smell it, in another moment you cannot smell it but someone else can, in another moment you can but someone else cannot, and still in other moments everyone and you can smell it. Some may find this annoying, but for me it is quite fun - in addition to this, it can be variable as to which notes you will pick up in given moments, which, like the projection, do not seem to follow much of a pattern. So here’s my verdict: Many people do not like Molecule 01 for completely valid reasons that I fully understand; it is also entirely possible that this perfume simply does not work for them. It is such a mercurial wearing experience that I can completely believe someone when they say they have a negative or completely “absent” experience. For me, fortunately, it seems to work - whatever “work” means in the context of Molecule 01’s performance. It’s fascinating, fun, keeps me on my toes with nearly every wearing, and yet it smells pleasant in a quiet and demur way at any moment regardless of what it is doing (apart from when it is not able to be detected at all, that is).

If you think a single note can't evolve as it dries and settles in, you're missing out. The best way I can describe this scent.... do you know the smell of your friend's house when you were a kid? Like how they used different laundry detergent and fabric softener than your mom, so they just had a different smell? Or maybe they fried a lot of food so they smelled like that? This fragrance is kind of like that. It changes what kind of detergent people think you use, or what kind of house they think you live in. It smells cozy and luxurious and expensive. Woody, clean, warm. If you think this perfume doesn't last, I got a compliment from one spray four days before on a shirt I was rewearing. I once got a compliment from 20 feet away, and the guy said he could smell me from across the street, probably 50 feet away, and had to circle back. The M01+Iris has absurd sillage. It's light but it's there, and it's the most beautiful iris. And the +Mandarin is the best citrus on the market in my opinion. If you like realistic citrus. When I come home from being away, my house smells like molecule 01. I've been through many bottles of M01 and various M01+ over the years and gifted many. It smells completely different to me than it did when I started wearing it years ago. Spend time with it. Get to know it. A sample isn't enough. A bottle isn't enough. 2-5 sprays max. I promise. Subtlety is sexy. 😎

smells sweet on me? almost like warm caramel syrup for a second?? but not really? and then a fresh tart-ish woody freshness? but as soon as i think about it the resemblance disappears, like those weird optical illusion posters you squint at. interesting spectral quality. eventually it does settle and its uhhh giving blunt... chemical? it seems to genuinely have a passing sillage effect too., i have it on my wrists and as im casually reading a novel i will get a whiff of it, and i will wonder if it's imagined, b∵c it also sometimes smells like its barely there at all. i would presume this makes it safe to overspray? it was detectable on my wrists 24+h later after showering, & 48+h later i can still smell what mustve rubbed off from my wrists to the sleeves of my wool coat. idek if i like how it smells on its own (as i'm not a fan of leatheresque frags), but its intrigue itself is enough. the mystical performance boosting hearsay is intriguing to me, but for a booster it is much more worth it to get a dupe from an independent perfumer on ebay. when layering, its barely perceptible but seems to be giving a synthetic syrupy quality and i'd assume it to be improving longevity.

My first encounter with Molecule 01 happened in the most unexpected place — a cozy restaurant in Brussels. Mid-conversation, I kept catching this warm, velvety, woodsy trail floating through the air... it was intoxicating. Curiosity got the better of me, and I literally followed my nose until I found the source: a woman wearing Molecule 01. Needless to say, I now own a bottle. And what a revelation. Built on a single note — Iso E Super — it refuses to behave like a traditional fragrance. Sometimes I can’t smell it on myself at all... and yet, others always seem to notice. Compliments arrive from friends, coworkers, even complete strangers. What makes it so compelling? It fuses with your skin, becoming uniquely yours. A second skin: cozy, soft-focus, and quietly magnetic. Even after a long day, I still catch gentle, sensual waves of it clinging to me. It never shouts. It whispers. And somehow, that’s what makes it so seductive — a kind of invisible charm you wear without effort. Molecule 01 isn’t just another perfume; it’s an aura. Singular, intimate, unforgettable. One of the rare fragrances that feels less like a scent you put on, and more like part of who you are.

I bought a used partially empty bottle for a reduced price, (liquid is yellow if that matters as some state theirs are transparent in color). This was because I wasn’t sure if I’d truly commit to it or be like some people who wear it and experience nothingness from it. I’m not sure if that’s a skin chemistry issue, the juice hasn’t “aged” enough, or they just didn’t give it a fair shot , whatever the case- After wearing this for about while now , I honestly can say this is a scent I don’t regret purchasing at all and it’s regularly used to the point I need to purchase another one soon. It’s one of the only scents that garner compliments and it’s stupidly versatile. I don’t know how else to describe it aside from a pleasant “woodsy” unisex close scent. You can wear it alone and it’s nice , or layer it, no problem. You can wear it for any occasion and scenario just fine. It’s also inoffensive in a sense that you can spray this on you, it becomes undetectable by the wearer but it can be picked up by others. If I had to recommend a single fragrance to people who aren’t frag heads but at least want something pleasant to wear, this would be it.

The scent that isn’t there... Until it is. Molecule 01 is unlike anything else I’ve worn. It doesn’t follow the usual fragrance rules AT ALL. it just, exists around you.. like a soft aura that enhances your own skin. At first you think it’s gone, and then out of nowhere you catch this addictive, velvety/woody whisper that feels almost pheromonal. It drifts in and out with the air, temperature, and your body chemistry, creating this mysterious lingering effect that keeps you hooked. What really surprised me is how it absolutely, no doubt transforms other fragrances. Layered under something like for example, BDK Gris Charnel, it’s perfection.. Molecule 01 pushes the scent into the air, adds warmth, and gives it an almost magnetic projection without changing its DNA. It’s like turning up the volume on a song you already love. It’s clean, subtle, and intoxicating... not a loud statement piece, but a scent that pulls people in. Molecule 01 isn’t about being smelled. it’s about being felt.

Funny all these reviews about pepper, spice, etc. In my quest for my holy grail, I found a lot of incense or woody fragrance. Tam Dao, Déclaration, Kyoto, Hinoki, Rocky Mountain, Fahrenheit, Terre, Féminité du Bois, ... There is always something I like in such fragrances, and other things I don't like. Too sweet, or too spicy, too peppery, ... Now I've tried Molecule 01, I found what I like in all the above listed fragrances, but without the disturbing notes. ISO E SUPER That's my holy grail! Molecule 01 is Iso E Super diluted in alcohol. Nothing else. The smell, to my nose, is divine. The most cleanest forest and incense smell ever. Nothing harsh. Slightly sweet, but never too sweet. Perfection. But the price is too high, and the concentration is weak. I've just bought 250ml 95% alcohol and 50ml Iso E Super. I'll mix them and have my own Iso E Super, with a higher concentration than Molecule 01 and at a fraction of its price.

The famous iso-e-super, but guess what it's very faint in here. I could smell it in respective of another stronger iso-e-super i have been introduced to. I could pick it up but it's barely there. It's woody, warm, soft-spicy, clean, musky, slightly-soapy, slightly-sweet and just what I want, but it's all very faint. The stronger iso-e-super actually comes from a product that attempts to replicate this bottle with an oil version from oil perfumery com. Which I've had a year ago and was discontinued. Wish they could bring it back as it's been my favorite night time skin scent ever. Edit: Unfortunately, Molecule 01 didn't make the testing cut as I wore it more. Even if it is something that I genuinely enjoy, having to spend a whopping 170$ to 200$ on a bottle that I can barely smell after 30 to 40 minutes is not worth it. Plus, I found the soft-spicy accord a bit uncomfortable at night, which was when I was intending to use it.

i got the discovery set with molecules 01-05 a few months ago. really enjoyed 02. HATED molecule 04 (gifted it to my sister - regretted it when i visited her and could still smell it from her using it many days prior). 03 and 05 were just ok. 01 is my favorite <3 after finishing my 8.5 mls of both molecule 01 and 02 i realized i might have to get a bigger size of 01... even though it honestly is kind of a boring perfume to spend money on (especially since it's so unnecessarily expensive lol), i just had to. i mostly layer it with other scents to create more depth, but its also so good on days you don’t want to smell like anything in particular - just delicious. to me it doesnt really smell that musky, its more of a woody, sweet skin scent. it doesnt really smell "clean" or fresh in my opinion, it smells like a wooden trivet/pot stand/coaster that's been heated up by a warm pot. SO good!

had this one for a while now but i’m yet to write a review; If i had only one sentence to describe this, i’d say; it’s amber, done right. The wood and amber notes come and go for hours throughout the day, and whilst it can be slightly syrupy or resinous in high heat, it works great when layering or for use as a skin-plus kind of scent. Its the kind of scent that others will notice immediately, but you only pick up on here and there, its got great depth and performance, on its own, it smells like paper or pressed wood (mdf minus the adhesive smells, pencil shavings, etc) with a bit of amber and very muted florals, but when layered, it brings out vanilla and amber notes, and pairs well with sweet, stodgy fruity fragrances (ive been wearing it with Fugazzi’s Pomegranoudh and it’s irresistible) or with amber heavy scents to accentuate them better. Brilliant!

i spray it in the morning and still get baffling compliments at night for cuddles "how do you smell so good?" i was once asked what i was wearing at the nighttime board game hangout 17 hours later. when i responded in confusion and went "i didnt think i was wearing anything!" they went "bullshit i could smell it walking behind you!" which really impressed me. i have no idea what it smells like on my skin at that point but it seems to work out. it's unpretentious, modern, versatile, and much harder to get tired of. if i do feel like smelling some other way mid-day i can just spray something else on top, and it's character disappears. i use it to soften out harsher perfumes. the rest of my collection is weighed down by certain connotations "this smells expensive" "this smells playful" "this smells girly" this one just smells good

I got a sample of this and absolutely loved it. It's a light synthetic woody scent with other trace molecules and apparently smells a little differently on each person's skin. Some people describe it as pencil shavings. It is a "barely there" skin scent, and you catch whiffs of it now and again through the day. It is stealth; it does not announce itself. Totally office safe. Most people can smell it but can't tell who's wearing it or what it is; it is a little mysterious, except to people who have encountered it before. It's supposed to help other frags last longer or increase their projection, but it's best used alone, IMO, as a scent for "no-perfume" days: it is very satisfying. I have been looking for a cheaper pure iso-E-super for a while now. Molecule 01 is way too $rich for its minimalist profile.

I can smell it. (And I cannot smell all of them, but sadly in the perfume world, there are some chemicals that smell noxious to me...(Matiere Premiere I’m looking t you 😩). It’s by far, to my perception, the most enjoyable of the ‘ghost chemicals’. It makes the air somehow airier, more ‘natural’, like you’re in this endless perfect forest. I smelled it again as I walked into my cooling bedroom carrying all the memories of all my endless spraying, just now, from the warmth of the Canadian wood stove (❤️🔥) out in the main house. I’d never choose to ‘wear’ it. But it is so uplifting as an environment scent. I’m so torn, do I go back to my hippie essential oils, do I continue my struggle into the art of the sublime? I fear I’m going to give up on the modern chemicals.

For those of you who are anosmic to iso E super, like I was for years and years, it ISO possible! I recommend spending time with the molecule 01+ range, if only to be afforded the contrast of one note you can easily identify, supported by iso E. I have been wearing Molecule 01 for nearly 10 years now, and only since I purchased some of its flankers in the last couple of years have I been able to confidently say I KNOW what the molecule smells like. It’s honestly always been a question without intense heat and sweat, and in those instances, I wondered how much of what I was smelling had to do with my skin care routine. (Also, the “freshly licked envelope” description is exactly what I’d smelled! I thought that bitter-sweet nearly nothingness was “it”!)

As a nurse, I don't want to smell like cologne or really like much at all. You know how some people really smell like their laundry detergent? Like they have a scent that just smells like them? This is totally that same vibe. If you try to smell it, you almost can't. The way it smells up close is not where this shines, though it's still nice up close. It's the random whaffs 12 hours after spraying this that keeps me wearing it 24/7. It's so indescribably beautiful. Smells like my dad's workshop when he's sanding fresh cedar. Like I can't get enough of it, and it's impossible to get tired of it because it's so elusive! My signature scent. Also get compliments daily. Had to buy a FB for a coworker since I live right next the local perfume shop!!

Molecule 01 is the easiest to throw on every day, especially as the weather gets colder, for its cozy properties. It comes and goes, I get occasional wafts of it all through the day. It never gets boring. Even when I can't smell it, people around me can. I'm yet to try it as a layering tool, so far I've just been wearing it on its own and am so happy with it. This is an Iso E Super for those who may not like Another 13 (me)... it's less sharp and creates a warm, light, unobtrusive bubble where I found Another 13 to be colder, drier, and dare I say slightly clinical. This is a must have imo as long as you aren't anosmic. Need to try the Iris version ASAP!!

I love this one. It's a fresh, woody scent that is a bit sweet but not too much. I don't get pencil shavings personally, which I would be sad about if it didn't smell so delicious. To me it smells a bit of a dewy meadow, early morning, sun just rose. It's early spring and somewhere the first flowers are blooming. I got some nice whiffs of it during the day, and the next morning I could still smell it on my arm. It LASTS, but in the best way possible. It's definitely not an overbearing smell, so you don't have to worry about struggling through the first few hours until it is doable. A beautiful smell and I can't wait to try layering it.

I've worn this for years and received compliments. I love the cedar aromatics. I was in Trader Joe's and an employee said from behind, "It's you that smell so good. I've been walking around the store trying to figure out where it was coming from." People smell this on me, even though I can't without sniffing my skin directly. I had an appointment at a "No Fragrance" office. I thought, no one will get close enough to smell it and I was wrong. As soon as I walked in, the receptionist flagged me and complained about wearing anything there, while I could hardly detect it.

This is a trippy scent, I don't know what I'm smelling but I can't stop going in for more whiffs. It's really addictive in my opinion. Smells like you're wearing a second skin or something, It's like the definition of smelling clean and fresh too but definitely not what you would typically think of as a "freshie" People say it smells like wood but honestly that's not the smell I'm picking up, for me it's more like a clean musk, maybe even a little earthy and mineral-y. I've definitely smelled it in other fragrances but by itself its really pretty awesome. 9/10

Molecule 01 is the perfect winter scent to me. A lot of people wear it in summer and spring but for me it remindes me of winter. It smells very unique and calming. It has a sweet woodsy cedar scent and airyness but also this deliciousness to it. It smells very etherial to me. It is very unisex. It is a very high quality fragrance and lasts quite long on the skin but the scent does come and go as it is a one molecule skin scent so does cause some nasal fatigue due to it not being complex like other fragrances.

Absolutely love this fragrance. At first I thought it smelled kind of like my middle school woodshop classroom with a hint of vanilla? Wife chimed in that she smelled root beer. After a few days of regular wear, I now smell pepper in there... but also a "clean" scent. The sillage is either non-existent or, at seemingly random moments, almost irreverent. One of those smells that you get nothing from for a long while and then pleasurable whiffs of out of nowhere.

Ok, so this is new to me. Blind bought this as I wanted to use it for layering after reading a lot of reviews. But it kinda stands out great alone. Very unique and a head turner for some people apparently. Had a few compliments the first time wearing this as a tester from the store. It appears to come in waves. Sometimes I smell it and sometimes I don't. It's a pleasant low-key floral, woody fragrance that I can use all day and night for all occasions.

For me, Molecule 01 is an eternal cloud of freshness, like the crisp air high up on a mountain peak. It is warm and comforting, yet carries that distinct, pristine scent of the very first snow. Slowly becoming one of my favorites as the weather gets warmer...one spray projects a lot and others will notice, but you won't be able to really smell it on yourself. I get wafts of a clean, cedar smell here and there throughout the day which I enjoy. Unisex and ideal if you don't want anything loud and you're going to be near people at work/school/etc. and it layers well with other fragrances!

Leans masculine. Clean white pepper and wood on me. Doesn’t not smell anything like Molecule 01. And I do not think it functions at all like Molecule 01 does, not a pheromone giving scent, nor a customized skin scent like Molecule 01, nor did I feel like it amplified any of my other fragrances like M01. Total different fragrances. I’m actually not into the Escentric Numbers at all.

In love with this scent. It's so mesmerising how I can't smell it on my skin when I spray it on my arm, but if I then spray it on my chest and go about my day, every now and then I get these bursts of the scent. On me it's mainly a clean green and slightly powdery scent, the woody tones are verrrrry faint. It lasts quite nicely, but it's a shame that not everyone can smell it.

Ohh how do times change, my last review of this was so different. I can’t believe I said it stank of mould? Wtf. I still agree that it smells like a very fancy brand new clean wooden drawer, more specifically cedar. This is top 5 for life, this is addictive, clean, pure and refreshing. Its the perfect balance and perfectly unisex. It’s simplicity means I never get sick of it

Wow, this was love at first sniff. I guess I am one of those who really loves ISO e super. This fragrance brought back a woosh of unrecognizable but comforting memories from childhood, and it kept happening all throughout the day. The best one I've smelled so far, it's definitely on my to-buy list.

something about molecule 01. i absolutely detested it at first and wondered why i even got it. but i kept giving it chances and ended up being addicted to it. something about the woody chemical musky old drawer smell! a very intimate skin scent. a tad bit overpriced for a single note edt.

People often tell me I smell clean. It has a woody, powdery scent on my skin. It's the only perfume I can wear even when I feel sick or bad. I wear this at the office or when I don't feel like wearing anything but I want to smell good. Unfortunately it only lasts about 2~4 hours,

REALLY cozy. Few sprays only, it welcomes you right away with some warm, musky, bit woody scent, then it disappear for some time and throughout the day it gives you reminders "hey, i'm still here and i'm doing great" in a more powdery way. I love that one with all my heart.

To me, this smells like cypress with a little touch of powder. It's not a strong perfume. Bad part of it is that reminds me of graveyard. In my country, a lot of graveyards are surrounded with cypress trees. I love the smell, but I don't enjoy the association 😁.

Been living off a small size of this forever, need to buy a full bottle very soon. Cliche but I love her. Get stopped over this one surprisingly often, given I feel it is quite close to the skin. Have been told I smell like wet cardboard (in a good way I hope)

I really like the fragrance itself. It's fresh, cool, woody, a little powdery, gentle. That being said, Molecule 01 is just so so elusive it's infuriating. I want to be able to smell my fragrance often. Not randomly every now and again.

This scent evokes warmth and comfort to me, like sitting in your bed in the morning, you showered the night before, your hair is tousled and you’re watching the morning sun stream through the window onto your pothos and monstera.

The recent batches in the new bottle design are extremely weak. It's my 4th bottle but I won't be buying it again. Even people that gave me compliments constantly can't smell it anymore. It's very faint and it used to be nuclear.

I can smell it all the time after applying, tho sometimes I suddenly get a stronger whiff for time to time, and it reminds me a bit of pencil shavings, or a pencil case. I personally love it. It smells warm and comforting imo.

I love this one, sharp yet subtle, I do get the light woodsy note on occasion, but mostly its a subtle skin scent that adds a hint of excitement and spice. I'm out but want to restock soon!

A fresh , woody skin scent that those around me can smell. One of my favorite molecular style perfumes. Good value and completely unisex. I do repurchase this one.

Loved it but wish it would last longer and would be stronger but still amazing,you just have to reapply after 3 hours.

Do you hear that? That clickity-clack wooden knocking sound in the distance? That's Escentric Molecules being clever cloggs. Imagine the scene; the company director is doing a presentation to the board. "Right, we've got a new blend coming out. It's called Molecule 1. I say blend, but what I really mean is a full bottle of Iso E Super, which is normally used to lock down flighty scent notes. What do you think about that then?" and the members of the board whoop and holler, and clap until their hands go red. Bizarre scenarios aside, this "trendy fad" of a "perfume" is actually pretty good! Sometimes, the most simplistic approach is the best, and Molecule 1 is as simple as it fucking gets. It's more simple than Mick Hucknall's Simply Red. It's also more simple than Simple shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It makes a fool out of Simple Simon. Surprisingly, the complete overload of Iso E Super gives a beautifully soft, warm woody scent, which is also a little bit powdery. It won't fill a room with it's scent, but it does leave a pretty decent trail when you wander down a corridor wearing it. I'll admit, I thought it was a bit of a joke when I first heard of it, like joke sweets that have cooked fish in them instead of a sugary treat. Something for upper class idiots to spunk their mummy and daddy's money on. But after finally getting my hands on it, I can confirm that it's quite impressive! There's a lot of dupes of this "perfume", but you can't beat the quality of the Iso E Super in Escentric Molecules. It's the mack daddy. It's the real deal. Don't bother with the dupes; don't settle for second best. Buy the original (and the best) Escentric Molecules Molecule 1. 8/10. It just can't go higher as it's not really a perfume. But it does what it says it does!
