Oh, I'm going to love you my beautiful 03!! The smell of vetiver is completely characteristic. balanced green; In my opinion, it isn't too much green that bothers you (like as Good Life by Davidoff), and not too much weak that it doesn't show the greenness of the fragrance. It has a deep and warm smell. It is not earthy and moistury like other types of vetiver, so I think that the type of vetiver is indonisian.(not Haitian or Indian) From the beginning, it smells like the last note of Amouge Opus 7. with this difference that it doesn't have the strong spicy smell in the opening notes of Opus 7 at all, and from the beginning it's smells like the drydown of Opus 7 It is only suitable for winter and autumn, because overall it is a warm fragrance. It has a smell similar to Encre Noir by Lalique in base note that oudy smell is added to Molecule 03. آخه من قربونت برم 03 قشنگم!! بوی وتیور کاملا تویش مشخصه. یه مقدار سبز؛ به نظر من نه زیاد که آدم رو کلافه کنه (مثل گود لایف داویدوف) ودر واقع مثل بوی چمن تازه اصلاح شده رو بده و نه هم اونقدر کم که سبز بودن عطر رو نشون نده. بوی عمیق و گرمی داره. خاکی و مرطوب مثل گونه های دیگر وتیور نیست. بویش از اولش مثل بوی نت میانی و نت آخری آمواژ اپوس 7 هستش. با این تفاوت که اون بوی ادویه ای شدید در نتهای ابتدایی اپوس 7 رو اصلا نداره واز همون اول بوی درای داون اپوس 7 رو میده از نظر من فقط برای زمستان و پاییز مناسبه؛‌ چون در مجموع عطر گرمیه بویی شبیه به انکره نواق هم داره. ولی فقط در نتهای انتهایی که بوی عودی به ۰۳ اضافه میشه.

The confusing thing with Escentric Molecules fragrances is the names. People confuse the Molecule fragrances with the Escentric fragrances, they confuse the numbers, and so about half the reviews on any Escentric Molecules fragrance page are for the wrong fragrance. I've often wondered how people could smell celery in Molecule 02 or Escentric 02. There's lots of mentions of celery on those pages, and I really couldn't wrap my head around how ambroxan could smell like celery to some. So yesterday I was sampling around, and Molecule 03 is the only EM fragrance I hadn't actually sampled, so I tried it, and it all makes sense now. All those people complaining about a celery note were talking about Molecule 03! They're getting the numbers and names mixed up. Molecule 03 definitely smells of celery and I love it! At the same time it's a grassy vetiver smell. It's really not a clean vetiver, but it's not extremely dirty either, it is definitely vegetal and green though. Not as fresh or citrusy as I had expected. In fact it's not fresh or citrusy at all. Makes me wonder how this wears in hot weather. Not sure if this could hold up as a fragrance on its own, I should give it a full wear first. It's probably great for layering though.

When I smelled Molecule 03 (MO3) for the first time, after becoming much more acquainted with it's more popular and trendy older brothers Molecule 01 & 02, I was shocked that this was a part of the same family! It's NOTHING like M01 and M02, it's a completely, totally different creature!!! Surely M03 was adopted into this family, because it stands so far apart from anything else (except for Kinski it is definitely brothers with Kinski) Molecule 03 is purely stunning. - it's all the best parts of vetiver. If you are into vetiver after falling in love with the likes of Encre Noir, Sycamore or Route du vetiver this will be totally up your alley. It's rooty, shroomy, acidic, earthy, dirty and SHARP. 10/10 -- Great silliage

This whole range is strange to me, why would you go for slightly green or other skin scents ? Does the science entertain or allure people ? For me Mugler cologne, Serge Luten friode, and TDH Tres Fraiche all are light ,lovely and become skin scents. That being said, this is my favorite of all the molecule or escentric molecules available. I can smell this one and it smells like a transparent and slightly green vetiver that is rounded, thus not sharp. It is nice and I will look for it discounted for a casual fall night and spring day fragrance. Overall pretty good, but I personally do not care for the rest.

Not sure how people don't like this. Even more curious how someone called it a "mess". It's just one note. one. Vetiver acetate. that's it. What is vetiver known for: warm, sharp, earthy, and very very green. If you've ever wanted to take the woods and ink out of Encre Noir and just see the vetiver, this is it. Smells exactly the same for like 12 hours. Not huge projection to offend anyone, but you'll enjoy it for yourself.

Here you have it, vetiveryl acetate...what is so special about it? Well, enough for Chanel to feature it in their Exclusives line as a dominant compound. It can be used as stand-alone perfume. Make a guess game when you come to Amsterdam’s De Bijenkorf where you have these two brands on the same floor. A little perfume discovery challenge for rainy weekend.

In the "molecule" series, together with Molecule 4, it's the most interesting of the 4. Still, it doesn't come very close to real vetiver oil, and it's very green, hardly wearable. I'd go for the Escentric series instead. Edit: layer this with Escentric03, and you'll get a great vetiver scent!

Not awful at all. Smells like vetiver. Not dirty or even clean. just an easy vetiver. Its linear and last about 6 hours on my skin. Still testing but so far i dont see why people hate this. Maybe just boring. But I really like it. Good all year round vetiver fragrance.

All Molecule fragrances are simple in design but meant to be layered. I find it that layering it with any citrus fragrance adds a layer of depth to the combination. My recommendation is to layer it with L'Eau d'Issey (2:1). Its good from melowing out rindy scents.

Well it's a linear vetiverish scent from start to finish. Very light. Would be awesome for layering to add a little extra to a juice lacking in vetiver. Overall it's good and for the right price (100 ml for $40.00 US) it was a safe blind buy. Enjoy!

Grassy vetiver under an unexpectedly prominent grapefruityness. My favourite of the Molecules and second only to Escentric 05 across the brand.

Molecule 03 is a very dry vetiver, peppery grapefruit. Understated and classy.

Escentric Molecules Molecule 03 EDT opens with a moderate projection of green notes, in this case, vetiver. The vetiver in this fragrance is grassy, lemony, with a slight hay-like and herbaceous touch, very good, fresh, and bright. The opening is aromatic, the vetiver is sharp but short-lived. In just a few minutes after the opening, the fragrance loses most of the initial greatness becoming a faint blurry green accord. Once Escentric Molecules Molecule 03 EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a faint, vetiver fragrance. The fragrance feels casual, classy, delicate, diluted, disappointing, dry, earthy, elegant, faint, fresh, gentle, grassy, green, low-quality, masculine, mature, natural, poorly-blended, short-lived, weak, and pleasant. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020. WOW RATING: 2/10. A nice opening, short-lived, leading to an unimpressive and faint dry-down. DISLIKE RATING: 2/10. The fragrance contains vetiver. UNIQUENESS: 1/10. Vetiver is a very common note; good vetiver fragrances are also very common. MASS APPEAL: 5/10. Vetiver is a classier note, more suited for mature wearers. PROJECTION: 2/10. Low, under 2 feet around the wearer. A personal space fragrance. SILLAGE: 2/10. Low, almost none. APPLICATION: 7 atomizations. LONGEVITY: 3/10. Moderate to low, about 3 hours, it projects for just a few minutes. SEASONS: Spring, summer, fall. OCCASIONS: Formal events, outdoor gatherings, office, business, casual. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but consider its poor performance. SIMILAR: These are examples of fragrances in the same genre. Bentley Infinity Rush is a great sweet orange, vetiver, spicy, woody, and soft musky fragrance; Cartier Declaration Essence is a great natural vetiver fragrance, soft woody, citrus, floral, and spicy fragrance; Chanel Pour Monsieur is a musky, vetiver, and citrus fragrance, classy, old-school, ideal for work environments; Montale Red Vetiver is a great, vetiver, and cedar fragrance; Montale Vetiver Patchouli is a fantastic, cedar-like, vetiver, patchouli, and spicy fragrance; Terre D’Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver is a vetiver fragrance with a strong classy or school-vibe; Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is very good vetiver, citrus, and musky fragrance; Escentric Molecules Molecule 03 EDT is a faint, and simple, vetiver fragrance. SUMMARY: A faint, vetiver fragrance. The fragrance feels casual, classy, delicate, diluted, disappointing, dry, earthy, elegant, faint, fresh, gentle, grassy, green, low-quality, masculine, mature, natural, poorly-blended, short-lived, weak, and pleasant.

My first thought was "blagh"! I don't know what vetiver is supposed to smell like, but the smell of this is earth, something like tea tree (minty-crisp), wet, old, and possibly burnt leaves, moss and sandalwood. If you like smelling like someone living in the woods, go on and buy it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, loooooves this because it smells like a forest :P He usually is pretty neutral to perfumes; most often I ask him to smell, and the best I get out is "it's nice" (which is quite rare). When I wore this, he began smelling the air to find the source of the smell and said he really likes this! I dislike the consistency of this perfume - vetiver oil is thick... so is this: it's a thick, yellow, oily fluid that comes out yellow when you spray it. I would suggest being careful not to spray this on clothes - or you might also begin to look like someone living out in the woods This just looks like something an amateur could mix up... which is nothing like the price point. It's not a bad, as in tasteless, messy, scent, it's just not quite the type of scent I like to wear - it's too much freshness + natural smoke. As strange as that sounds - I'm just not much into such an "outdorse-y" scent. It's not even a "dirty" smell - in fact, it smells pretty clean - as clean as a swamp can be, but still, it's not quite me. The most bothersome part to me is the smoke - it's like from a camp-fire, nothing synthetic here, but it feels a little like it gets into my mouth all the time! I like the woods, but this is a little too deep into the woods for me and I begin longing home after a shirt time. I do imagine that people around might love this though - especially if they miss being out in untouched nature. What I usually like is the longevity - all of the Escentric molecules scents are quite long lasting, especially is sprayed on clothes. This one seems to not last as long, but I only put it on my skin though. If I buy this again, it will, most likely be for my boyfriend's money - these are pretty damn expensive, and although I would never sell my sample (8 mL) of this - it's just too unique, I don't think I would willingly repurchase either. I think I would like this better on a man, actually.

Molecule 03 composes the third pair of fragrances created by Geza Schoen that were worked on a certain synthetic molecule that is already used in perfumery. For the duo released in 2010, the perfumer used Vetiveryl Acetate, used to impart the smell of vetiver. The vetiver essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of its roots, usually after drying in the sun. Being a natural raw material that is difficult to synthesize, industry professionals have been able to create bases that reproduce the smell of their oil, as is the case of Vetyrisia, created by Firmenich. There is also the so-called Vertofix as well as Veticol Acetate. In the case of Vetiveryl Acetate, the perfumer explains that such a molecule can be described as a hybrid. It would be a fraction of vetiver oil, distilled from the roots of an Indian grass, then crossed with acetic acid to remove the bitter and leathery aspects of the root. On my skin, Molecule 03 is the most noticeable among the three homonymous fragrances, which bring only molecules in pure form. While the previous two had a very strong smell of alcohol when sprayed, this one brings the nuances of vetiver right off the bat, ingredient worshiped by some and hated by others. Its most recognizable scent is the one full of woody and dry facets, which carry green and mossy traces in some cases, but also light and grassy in others. However, in the case of this fragrance, the result is somewhat different, as we have several bitter nuances that insist on going back and forth during evolution. Molecule 03 is self-sufficient and although it has the concept of layering proposed by the brand, does not require coadjuvants and works very well on its own. It is a perfume for fans of vetiver and for those who seek to unravel their evolution in a dismembered way. Particularly, I have nothing to complain about, for the fragrance exhales for hours, without bothering those around, and the lasting is astonishing, like in those cases you still feel the smell in the next day, even after showering. In terms of cost-benefit and, above all, meeting expectations, Molecule 03 is the most complete in my opinion.

Molecule 03 is the first Molecule that I am not anosmic to. Molecule 03 is the same concept - a single-note scent centred on a synthetic aromachemical - but is much less abstract than Molecule 01 or 02 by its nature. Vetiveryl acetate is the chemical in question here. A strong lab-rendered note that resembles purified vetiver, it stands in stark contrast to 01 and 02's synthetic amber-esque aromachemicals that are perceived differently by different people. M03 is very pleasant and simple. The vetiveryl acetate is a successful replication of the scent of high-quality vetiver. It is woody, grassy and plant-like, and would work well as a vetiver note in perfumes composed in a more traditional sense. I like vetiver in general, and while I wouldn't choose a vetiver-dominant scent personally (too masculine and sometimes too astringent for my taste), I appreciate its inclusion in woody, earthy bases of perfumes. In the case of M03, the vetiver effect is surprisingly realistic. I get a prominent grapefruit note up top - I'm not sure if this is how the vetiveryl acetate develops on my skin, or if there is grapefruit included, but it adds tart freshness up top. I also think that grapefruit and vetiver marry beautifully in general. I get some Iso-E-Super in the background, adding a slightly synthetic musky haze. The vetiver here is multifaceted - it is in turn grapefruit-like, chamomile-like, tea-like, herbal, woody, grassy, earthy - the list goes on. It is not an unchallenging vetiver - it is on the pungent side of earthy, which won't appeal to everyone. As is the nature with these scents, it doesn't develop much - it remains like so on my skin until it fades. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. M03 can be summed up as synthetic vetiver that mostly succeeds in masquerading as the real thing. This is a warm-weather, unisex scent. Pretty decent in my opinion, it won't appeal to everyone, given its pungent edge and/or Iso-E-Super base. A must-try for vetiver lovers. 3/5.

The development of Molecule 03 on my skin seems going in a backward direction. The first 30 minutes is deep, woody, earthy vetiver, even kind of nutty at times. It's less grassy, less robuste, cleaner, and therefore more "modern" and more streamlined than natural vetiver oil, but still quite complex in itself and very recognisable as a vetiver note. Interestingly, Molecule 03 then proceeds to turn fresher and brighter, as a grassy note and a tart, aromatic grapefruit rind note start to dominate, until it becomes entirely a citrus cologne type of scent than a vetiver-centric fragrance. The sillage is close to the skin, and the longevity can reach to 10 hours. Analysing the evolution of Molecule 03 is an interesting experience, as it really does behave like Geza Schoen noted in an interview conducted by CaFleureBon, that the difference between vetiveryle acetate (the molecule in Molecule 03) and vetiverol (the one prominent in vetiver oil) is that the former is sort of cleaner and has a grapefruit nuance. Although I personally prefer more complex, rawer vetiver, I still think Molecule 03 worths a try as an interesting point of reference for vetiver fans.

"Molecule 03" by Escentric Molecules is ... unique ... and minimalist, probably the most "non-people pleasing" of the Molecules. It, of course, focuses on a single aroma-molecule, in this case, vetiver. This is woody, earthy, clean, green, a very "naked" vetiver. Molecule 03 lingers on my skin throughout the day, gradually revealing its nuances. The sillage is moderate, projecting softly without overwhelming the surroundings. I love vetiver, and do like Molecule 03, but the first 15 min or so, might be overwhelming for some. Definitely try before you buy (even if you like/love others in the Molecule series).

It's an interesting experience to smell this chemical once, and see what it does on the skin, but it's pretty horrible. There's a reason it's blended with other things to make proper perfume. This is industrial, plasticky, glue-like vetiver, with car interior and a dash of something you'd use to clean your oven. Immediate scrubber, never again. (showering) And of course it's impossible to remove, although after a thorough scouring it's less repulsiv at least.

Smells like wet forest floor, TdH without the orange, a Lush soap I used to have ages ago called 'Middle Earth turns to Rock' and the color green with a brownish undertone. It doesn't project like the other Molecule fragrances, it stays rather soft and doesn't play hide and seek like Molecule 01 and 04 tend to do with their sillage.

There are so much better vetiver fragrances out there... It smells indeet like a pomelo fruit. But it is a very poor vetiver fragrance, I don`t find anything special about it. I think only the first fragrance from the line worth the try and the money. The rest is nothing special.

I am a hardcode vetiver lover, and this is no exception. Very green, vegetal. That being said, to my nose this is almost indistinguishable from Green Man from Fat in the Moon. If you're looking for a more affordable or "natural" option, it's one of my favorites.

When I first sprayed this I was immediately sorry - a very strong sour alcoholic blast with some vetiver somewhere there. Then, a few hours later, I actually started loving it. It's a great take on the dark green vibe if you can get past the initial hour.

Pure vetiver, although I rarely buy mono perfumes, but this is something really delicate and fresh, ideal for hot summer days. I'd love to have it. And I also think it must be so good on men's skin too. Elegant.

Unlike Molecule 01, which I couldn't smell at all, Molecule 03 develops nicely. It's intoxicating and warm, but mellow. Molecule 03 was my favorite of the Escentric Molecules Discovery Set.

Is it only me that get's mostly citrus zest. I'd love to use it with another fragrance that's sweeter and more uplifting. edit: ended up buying 30ml for 30 euro.

Simply put, it's just ELDO Fat Electrician without whipped cream and vanilla. The best vetiver fragrance on the market, imo.

Grassy, dry, vegetal. I'm starting to think that EM's stand-alone molecules, just aren't really for me. I know some will think I'm missing the point. Vetiver is fine, but it just has so much more potential as an ingredient in a larger picture. I'm not much of a fragrance layer-er. I believe a good fragrance should be able to satisfy on it's own. And therefor, I think I probably just fundamentally disagree with the whole ethos of EMs. The novelty of EMs isn't enough to make them good. VERDICT: I also dislike paintings that are painted with a single colour.

Hmmm! First sniff was almost like opening the bottle of whisky: very sharp, alcohol-like, dry and sweet. Then the aroma becomes crispy green and warm. Vetiver in very interesting chord. It is really celery, vegetabe. Then base turns parfume into earthy, dark. It is not encouraging, warming vetiver. This last shape of it is more sad and shady. Personally I don't mind, but definitely it is not wearable for casual. With a layering could be purposeful... Sillage moderate, longevity 3-5 hours.

I love green fragrances and vetiver, and loved molecule 01 soI ordered a sample. It's crispy and crackly, like stepping on a stick in the forest, or the sound of elecricity crackling, the sound of dried juniper berries popping when thrown in the fire, but without the smoke. Would be good to enhance fragrances, but on its own it's lacking depth. Interesting and arresting, but probably wouldn't purchase more.

I love Vetiver. Clean and dirty. I own over a dozen. Found this to be very generic and woody without a strong rooty Vetiver essence. Decent projection in first 3-4 hours then a skin scent. About 6-7 hours total. Escentric 03 was better for me. Glad it has worked better for some others than me. I don’t even get the funk some get, which I at least could appreciate.

Smells mostly grassy and i get a small amount of spices in there too, slightly woody as well. Not my cup of tea, but would still rather wear this than most designer frags xd

It smells like a laundry detergent upon initial spray. Definitely some green scents, almost forest like. It's probably better suited for the colder months.

It's an interesting smell. However, vetiver alone is not something I want to smell for several hours.

Bought this while somewhat noseblind, confident it smelled different. Went in for another sniff and the buyers remorse kicked in. I wanted something woody/earthy/green, and I do pick up on a sort of wheatgrass/damp wood smell. But to my nose there's also sickly sweet, spicy/peppery, and tea tree oil smells that I'm having trouble looking past. The "rotting produce" smell people have mentioned peeks through for me too unfortunately. The synthetic nature of the smell had a novelty that wore off fast and eventually I just felt like a cheap car freshener. Might give this one more time to see if it grows on me or figure out a way to layer it, but for a one-note perfume it has a lot going on. Not sure I enjoy it and others I've shown it to didn't like it at all.

No! No! No! When i got this i had an open mind, but was disappointed. I wanted to like this because i liked my first purchase from this house (Molecule 01) but this was a total let down. It really reminds me of rotten grapefruit rinds. There's nothing pleasing or intriguing about this. I have many fragrances that have vetiver and this doesn't reminds me of anything in my collection. It's strong, linear, pungent, earthy, citrusy. I don't know who would this appeal to? Not a safe blind buy. I don't even care about performance because why would I want to wear it for so long? Be wary.

very horrible smell. smells of an asian shops spice rack, which is a smell i dislike outside of cooking a meal. only one note in it. definitely try before you buy. it could definitely mistake on someone for a really bad bo smell. maybe i got a bad sample. but given the huge number of negative reviews i doubt it. not sure what vetiver smells like, but if this is it. i hate it. molecule 01 much nicer cleaner smell.

I usually love vetiver, which is why I wanted to try this fragrance, but this is not what I expected. There's absolutely nothing fresh about this scent on my skin. I smelled like I'd been rolling around in wet grass and dirt, and not in a good way. I'm sure it's just my body chemistry, but I will not be wearing this alone. Maybe I'll try layering it with a fresher citrus scent.

Of the 3 Molecule scents, this one (on me) is the most peppery. In fact, that's all I smell. I purchased a sample because of previous reviewers that mentioned that it smelled like pomelo or leafy or fresh-earthy. Sadly, on me, Molecule 03 just smells like dry, old peppercorns :( It's very dry, a bit woody, and very black peppery. A definite no for me.

A vetiver fragrance. I guess only a vetiver collector would feel the urge to buy this. Considering the wonderful fact that Encre Noire, Fat Electrician, Givenchy Vetyver, Sel de Vetiver, Etro Vetiver, Timbuktu (to name just a few) exist, this does not bring anything new to warrant a place among the vetiver greats. **(***)

I got a generous sample of this, but there was no need - I'm never wearing it again. It was really sharp and green on me, and made me nauseous quite quickly. I washed it off but could still smell it (my skin does hold scent very well tho). Might be fine for layering if your skin chemistry likes it, but for me it's a no.

This is pungent, not in a pleasant way. I've learned I truly cannot stand the singular scent of vetiver, nor do I enjoy the scent of escentric 03. Both are extremely off-putting to me and I had to scrub them off. Other than those I've liked all the other Molecules and Escentric Molecules.

Boy, I love that box. Those metal travel-size boxes look really cool. I wish I had something to put in them that didn't smell like I was eating lemon chicken piccata at a picnic table next to one of those green spiral mosquito repellent things.

It smells like ruh khus. It stays light and close to the skin. Useful in layering, to be used sparingly together with roses, leather, citrus fruits for a wild touch. With this I have hints of green, earth and... onion. Raw.

Smells like I have stuffed grapefruit skin in all my pockets. Too strong by far, no nuance, no way to 'fix' it with layering.. no good as a room fragrance; smells like school bins. Don't buy it, there is no good reason

Does not really smell like real vetiver. Not pleasant. Limit acrid, actually. It smells like a concoction of bitter herbs. Hard pass, even for a Vetiver fan.
