Espirit de Versailles: The first and only review I am aware of that exists for this fragrance on the Internet. Recently I traveled for the first time in my life to the city of Paris. I am an American by birth (but not by culture). And the last 8 years of my life I’ve been living in New York City. Which for my temperament and interests is the greatest city in the United States. My journey with fragrance collection began about 5-6 years ago, and now I have well over 80 fragrances in my personal collection. I am by all means a complete amateur in the world of fragrance, but I find the hobby endlessly fascinating, along with reading, writing, screenwriting, filmmaking, classic cinema, chess, collecting classical and cool jazz/bossa nova on vinyl, and being a whiskey enthusiast. I’m a man endlessly interested in “deep diving” into various hobbies that allow you to focus and discover new nuances about the world around you. All of this to say one of the lifelong passions I have had was to visit Paris. And the trip was everything I could have hoped for. I will leave it at that. For me it is the city I would choose to live the rest of my life in without the slightest hesitation. Specifically Saint-Germain. Breathtaking. With this new found excitement for Paris and all things French. I recently noticed a cologne selling at a ridiculously inexpensive price on eBay. The a fore mentioned Espirit de Versailles for Him. To my inexperienced nose, it feels like an innovative take on Bleu de Chanel. Not a clone or a rip-off, but rather an homage. If you love Bleu, you will love this. Longevity for me is about 6 hours, and then it becomes a skin scent for another 2-3. Although it is never overpowering even when first applied. It has a soft aromatic quality, which feels like putting on something masculine, classy, and universally enjoyed. In a word it smells...amazing. I will say for me I have to go 5 sprays (one being on the hair) to get the perfect scent bubble. Normally I’m a 2-3 sprays max on any fragrance, as my skin fortunately holds and projects them quite well. And many of my classic powerhouse scents (I’m looking at you Quorum) need only one spray to the chest before I put on my suit. This one needs application with a heavier hand to get proper performance. But once done, you will catch yourself smelling the wonderful aroma all day. How can I describe it? Specific notes can be found above. But the adjectives I would use are, woody, classy, classic yet light and modern. It’s a "navy blue suit and tie" kind of fragrance. I could wear it nearly anywhere, any time of day, and it immediately makes me smell like my bank account tops out in the multi-millions. It has the ambiance, and grace of a niche fragrance, but is ridiculously inexpensive. This fragrance provides a soft bubble of sweet, gentle, refined manly aroma. It smells like a man who has such refined taste, he buys fragrances no one has heard of because he is so well traveled he of his own volition has found yet undiscovered aromatic gems the masses of humanity are unfamiliar with. It is not a challenging fragrance; it simply smells, soft, beautiful, and refined. It’s the image every man (comfortable wearing a suit), wants to leave in his wake with the fairer sex. Personally, it started as a blind buy that has now become one of my two signature scents. As I said if you love Chanel Bleu, you would not be disappoint in this variation on the theme. Again it is nearly impossible to overspray this. But that being said you would probably need 2-3 additional sprays to whatever your standard is, to enjoy it all day. And definitely one in the hair. But at the price it’s being sold at, spray way. FRANGANCE:8.5 LONGEVITY:7 SILLAGE:6.5

the entrance is a bit strange it smells like a wall paint but the drying is good and it surprised me, as it says the first comment is Bleu de Chanel style, not a copy or a clone, it is fresh and offers elegance, it is manly, with a retro and modern touch. It is aromatic musky and creamy

I agree with tonybarloe, in that the first couple minutes are nasty, like a combination of saliva and varnish, but that quickly dissipates and you are left with a very soft and nicely-blended scent. I used three sprays to the chest and I can barely smell anything, so I don't know how anyone would think it smells liike BdC (or anything else). Next time I'll use more sprays, but what I can smell is definitely nice.
