Bois Impérial Extrait

Bois Impérial Extrait Essential Parfums The og is one of my favorites. Signature scent worthy for any mature man. Many ladies loved it too and don't mind wearing it. I don't think the notes are quite Right for the Extrait here. There are notes from the og which should be in this and not reflected. The Extrait did not lost those notes. This Extrait is much richer, darker and very much more intense. While it retains it's signature dna, it went from very wearable to only special occasions for the Extrait. After all, it's just a 30ml, unlike the og that is 100ml and has a 150ml refill for you to happily spray it all over. This Extrait starts with a heavy blast of strong deep pepper and you'll definitely get the strong aromatic sweet green balsamic and a strong heavy leather, dark strong amber. The rose is there but I think it's pretty balanced with the rest of the notes but is a welcomed addition. It's concentration is seen by a shiny layer of oils from just one spray on the skin and stays for a while. It gets better and easier on the nose after 10 minutes or so. Do stay patient with the heavy strong opening. Definitely not as versatile as the og as daily driver. Being an Extrait, don't expect it to project and have Silage like the og, however it does still projects and leaves silage a feet or two away. Expect it to be stay strongly for much longer hours on your skin. What does this Extrait reminds me of? Quentin's creation for some of the Amouage scents But in Extrait version with the og dna. But to put it simple to understand, it's the og Bois Imperial with leather, strong Amber, and balsamic green aromatic fir and added rose to balance it with all the other notes from the og, so it's a darker, bolder, richer and more intense Bois Imperial. I'll probably try layering 1-2 Extrait sprays with the og for added effects and longetivity. Is it worth the retail price in Euros? Yes if you really love the og. No and wait for a better priced bottle from the reseller and buy it as a collector piece for occasion use. Yes if you like what I described in terms of the Extrait scent developments. Yes if you are a fan of Amouage. Yes if you like most creations from Quentin.

I was able to test Bois Impérial Extrait prior to its official release in Paris and gave it a full wearing. Even though I would like to spend more time with it, I can already say that I am quite taken with it. The Extrait retains all of Bois Impérial's spicy, sparkly fizz, while being decisively deeper and richer. Apart from it being naturally more woody due to its concentration, a beautifully smooth leather accord has been added to the composition. The leather note brings a certain edge to the fragrance, a touch of darkness that makes the Extrait more serious and hefty. The original Bois Impérial was already heavily projecting and had intense longevity, the Extrait does a very similar thing while being more dense. If you've been immersing yourself in perfumery you might know that having a higher concentration of perfume oil in a perfume doesn't necessarily mean that it will project more. With that being said, it easily lasted more than 12 hours on me, and is still heavily noticeable on the clothing I was wearing a few days ago. Somewhat off-topic, but reading the comments here I briefly wanted to tackle the price point. The Extrait will most likely be sold at 130EUR for 30ml. For most people the original Bois Impérial will be more than sufficient, the price is truly unbeatable and the composition is beautiful. The Extrait, as far as I see it, is for connoisseurs that like their fragrances to be richer, deeper and with more nuances. Personally I still think the price is absolutely justified, especially taking into consideration that it's a company that is not owned by any major conglomerate. I am happy to support a business that creates beautiful fragrances, pays attention to details and acts ecologically responsible. Kudos to Essential Parfums and excited to see what they have in store for us in the future. :)

Have owned Ganymede and Bois Imperial for several years now and loving them both, getting the Bois Imperial Extrait was, for me, a no-brainer. How does it stack up vs the EDP? Ok, so overall, the Extrait and EDP do indeed share a very close DNA, and the similarities are obvious ( Basil / Akigalawood with a light citrus feel ) But where the EDP is built simply around these notes and accords, the Extrait does add extra subtle pepperiness and a thread of incense in the opening, and after a couple of hours I do notice a soft rose too. Later in the fragrance life I also feel an unlisted clean musk with the other more woody/ambers. The Extrait is touted as a "Deeper, Darker" iteration, where the former statement seems to be true due to the extra notes, but Darker? Not particularly. One big take from owning all three; Ganymede and Bois Imperial EDP project OK but have top notch sillage. Like, "noticable with frequent comments from other people" good. The Extrait inevitably ( Higher perfume concentration ) flattens both projection and sillage by a fair degree. It's longevity on skin is great, but VERY skin scent VERY quickly! So the question is; do you want to own a flanker that performs less well than the original and It's excellent Cousin, for the sake of a few note and accord additions but a way higher price per ml? I really enjoy this personally, but I don't feel I NEEDED it other than just to round out the collection. Rank will remain GANYMEDE >>> BOIS IMPERIAL EDP >> BOIS IMPERIAL EXTRAIT.

I love the OG Bois. Adore it actually. Great price, long lasting, clean, beautifully crafted masterpiece in my opinion. So this comes along and asks 100 bucks for 30ml. Me being on the stingy side, snubbed this. Every spray is gonna hurt my stingy little soul. But the Frag demon side demanded at least a 1ml sample. The Stinge relented when a discounted sample finally popped up. 2 sprays of my sample(that hurt too) Here's how it went for me....The opening is unmistakable Bois Imperial. The notes are misleading, as it retains the signature Akigalawood and Vetiver. BUT, the Amber is ramped up here(labdanum) as it dries down. I don't pick out Rose, but it is definitely sweeter and that is likely from the rose and amber injections. A sweeter take on Bois, without losing the quintessential elements of Bois. Embracing, cosseting, confident, powerful and now with added sweetness. Frag Demon laughed Performance is no joke. 30ml will last you TIME if you 3 spray this. Any more is a waste. 12 hours I can smell this with no effort at all. Sillage and Projection is Perfect. Any more and this would not be the classy scent it is. Frag Demon chuckled. Should you get it if you have Bois Imperial? I did. Frag Demon Slayed Stinge with 2 sprays of Extrait on it's sword. I raise my 30ml Bottle of Bois Imperial Extrait as homage to Stinge's valiant efforts in battle but this stuff is a majestic 10/10. Get a sample if you love the OG, and let battle commence.

Two sprays on my neck and I could smell this beast jumping off me immediately though after some wear I found you do get accustomed to it more easily. The scent is so clean, fresh and yet becoming more sophisticated and woody in the mid though not as close to oud wood as some reviews say, definitely more a slight reminder style. The OG Bois imperial keeps the freshness around for longer I would say and probably better for summer daytime, this version definitely smells heavier on the opening with a warmer spicy profile kicking in a lot sooner, definitely making it feel a bit more suit and tie event. A 30ml bottle is kind of mean as it makes this alot more expensive per spray as I paid over 100 euro for it. The OG is 100ml yet similar priced but this one has a much higher oil concentration to give it more strength and power. A couple of the big frag heads took a pop at this saying its inferior to the OG which is bullshit to be honest, it comes down to your preference, if you want Bois Imperial as a daily signature go with the OG or if you just need a very strong performing version tweaked to grab attention for evenings/dates now and again pick this one.

After sitting in Harry’s Bar with old friends, breezing through Diptyque, and spending too much in Le Labo, we landed in Ministry of Scent. I was presented with Chinese Calligraphy and Falling Trees but nothing was hitting. I wandered around smelling an array of heavily regarded niche perfumes, becoming nose blind and olfactory overloaded. I could barely differentiate anything anymore except this gem, Bois Imperial Extrait. To my nose this is a pink pepper and woody rose bomb. I’m not a huge fan of a rose note, tbh but this is so beautifully crafted I bought it knowing nothing about its notes and absolutely love it. I do have an affinity with masculine leaning fragrances but I find this to be unisex. I was happy to see it so loved on Fragrantica as I did no research. What landed on my coat from last night is still there, what landed on my arm in the morning was a soft rose, not sharp nor sweet. A classically elegant fall, winter scent. If you’re tired of gourmands that smell like marshmallows, ouds, that go sharp, woods that smell like pickle juice or rubber, give this one a try. I do agree with another poster, the packaging is difficult

This is very strong stuff. The opening has a megablast of pepper which was a rough first impression, but has calmed down plenty in the drydown; it's the same phenomenon as how the EDT can come across as "screechy" before it airs out a bit. The rose is prominent in the middle - but more importantly, the rose is balanced out by the cedar and fir which pushes the blend more towards sweet spicy amber with aromatics rather than floral. That being said, the labdanum pulls it back again towards floral. There is a lot going on here. There is another note, something animalic and smokey mixed with leather or tar, very interesting, feels good man. The fragrance remains very masculine. I think this is quite different from the EDT - it has the same DNA, sure, but the extrait is not a dumb-reach for me as the EDT is. The extrait is much more intense, much darker, much less versatile, its sweeter, sharper, and less fresh. That being said I love it. It has changed my perspective of the EDT a lot smelling them side by side. Essential ships using DHL, which is a nightmare. Overpriced at 130 EUR + CAD 60 duties and taxes.

This is just beautiful 👍🏻 Update 1: I decided to purchase the full bottle two weeks ago after testing it in-store and being captivated by its beautiful scent. I’ll share a second update once I’ve given it proper wear. For now, it’s waiting its turn in my rotation, as I’m currently exploring several other new fragrances on a daily basis. Update 2 (22.10.25): Today I’m wearing this perfume. It opens with a slightly sharp, spicy, and floral scent that smells wonderful. As it dries down, it becomes even better, the sharpness fades away, revealing a more foresty, woody character. I received multiple compliments today; my colleagues even mentioned they could smell the sillage in the hallway, which is impressive considering it’s been seven and a half hours since I applied it. This extrait version leans more masculine to my nose due to its spicy nature. It’s a versatile fragrance that works well for both daytime and evening wear, whether it’s a regular day or a special occasion. It can easily be worn in both summer and winter. I’m really glad I committed to a full bottle right from the start. A good one.

The original amped up X 3. Pleasant huge Pepper onslaught bodied out with an ambery balsam smoothering everything. After an hour or two its softens a bit letting the woods come out a bit. Beyond that it turns slightly sweaty (which happens often when you have high oil content) and the dark base comes in turning this back into a bit more of a freshy like the original. Whilst the opening is strong dont let peoples comments scare you, two to three hours in and its more sedate (definitely not the strongest perfume sillage Ive ever tried but it tries). This is the winter version - the OG is for summer but they are different - again dont let peoples comments mislead you - the original is fresh and brisk, this is warming and statement seeking but after a few hours will evolve into something slightly fresher. I loathe the comments about the price. Its still great but rather I find the technical performance whilst nice to be over hyped.

I am absolutely obsessed with this fragrance. It smells so good, I cannot get enough of it. When I don't wear it, I long for it. I cannot really describe it, it's a work of art. It's deep and rich, smooth and refined, fresh yet warm. Before I tried it, I thought the price was unfair, considering the EdP is more than three times the juice for the same price. But when I tried it I knew I had to have it. I've never in my life smelled something this good. The longevity is eternal, lasting an entire day on skin and until the next wash on clothes. The sillage and projection are monstrous, easily filling a room. Quentin Bisch is a genius, what a masterpiece he and his team created. The EdP is a 9/10, the Extrait is a 10/10 and I could make a case for it going beyond that scale. It's on another level.

This fragrance will need some time with me for another review later. First impressions: what a masterpiece! So crisp, beautiful, striking. And yes, the longevity is bold, without feeling 'beast mode' at all. Bois Impérial Extrait stays beautiful, crisp, and clear the entire time. I'm reminded of something medicinal, like a very clean dentist clinic from a 1960s movie - but in the most beautiful and stylish way - this film is noir. I first smelled a sample months ago and could not stop thinking about it - had to have the bottle! So glad it's now in my collection. So clean, crisp, gorgeous. I need more time to think about specific notes etc. 100% love this. Sample first, this is not a safe blind buy, but it is a masterpiece (and I'm in love).

Be warned if ordering direct. I ordered this direct from Essential in France for UK delivery. First it was held up in customs for 7 days due to missing delivery information from Essential and then Essential only provided part of the delivery address omitting my street name and number. Now the parcel has gone missing and Essential aren’t responding to any of my mails. The courier says I need to speak to Essential. Chance would be a fine thing if they answered any of my mails. I should have looked at Trustpilot first as their score is very poor with other people having similar experiences and getting no response from the company either. I thought I’d be safe buying direct. Worst customer service ever.

I have seen lots of people complain of the price however I got this in the UK for £75 for 30ml which I don't think is a bad price given the quality of this extrait perfume. This is more complex and rounded than the EDP, deeper, darker and more rich. It could be described as the night version of the scent. I found the original a bit too screechy and sharp but still enjoyed it, this however is the perfect take on this scent profile. You still get the OG smell but it's just tidied up and made more elegant and mature. Longevity is 10 plus hours on my skin with a heavy projection for 2-3 hours. Don't overspray this as it is very strong 10/10 in my book

I smell like a lumberjack wearing leather chaps. This is up there with TF Oud Wood Intense. If you are looking for a woody fragrance, look no further than this beast right here. And it is a BEAST! Three sprays is intoxicating masculine delite. It pairs well with a flannel, jeans, some chest hair, big muscles, and a larger than average package. My quest for a magnificent woody fragrance that is still in production ends right here. There is no fruity top notes, the rose is buried, there is a little green fir, a whole lot of cedar, and a tiny bit of sweetness to balance it out. Strap in for a 12 hour ride with this bad boy. 8.75/10

Simply incredible. I have 2 back up bottles. Fresh, invigorating, modern, gentlemanly and stunning. Extremely versatile, for me can work in any scenario except maybe in a romantic setting, less sprays in warmer weather, maybe only 3 but ither than that is a work horse. I have too many bottles for it to be my signature but it’s the closest. Its knocked reflection and cedrat boise down and gone straight up to my number 1 all round fresh fragrance. I gate keep this one whenever people ask me what im wearing, and they ask often, I tell them a random fragrance. 10/10, cheap in comparison to others must have. But don’t buy it.

Retains a lot of the main accords of the original, particularly the Basil and pepper opening. The main difference is that the woody undertones are sharper and darker, which is expected with the introduction of cedar. There is also, at least to my nose, a slightly animalic touch that complements the new balsamic accord and gives the fragrance a sophisticated edge that distinguishes it from the original. I feel that if you already have the original EDP, then this might not be too exciting, but if you have tried the EDP and you like it but don't have it, then this is certainly worth a try.

absolutely in love with this.. unfortunately it kind of ruined my 100ml Bois Imperial bottle, because I'd much rather spray this. from a distance it keeps the same scent profile as Bois Imperial, but up close its just so much richer and adds a leathery "base" that the standard one is missing, while the peppers add addicting sparkle. for me it has incredible lasting power and sillage, so even one spray is enough to achieve what three or four of the standard one would. Choose the standard one for the day, wear this at night. And don't overdo it.

Smells like freshly cut wood that's being sunbaked in the center of a garden full of rosebushes. It has a great sense of warmth and masculine floral-ness while retaining its woody attributes. if i had to break it down into how strong these smells are in percentages, it would be 50% wood, 20% floral, 30% warm spice. Very nice, could smell even before i took it out of the package. Didnt see many reviews that pointed out how prominent the floral note is, but it is definitely there, not overwhelming or anything, i honestly prefer its presence.

I liked the original, but would never wear it myself as a female. This is denser, darker, more resinous, warmer, heavier with a prominent rose note mixed with peppers - I like wearing it! Agree it shares smth part of dna with Ganymede Extrait which I also loved. Actually I think it’s even worth the price point, it feels expensive in comparison with the original but this is in another league UPD: can’t stop wearing it can’t stop sniffing my wrist I’m a bit obsessed 😳 I need a full bottle

Smokier and just a tad leathery (tar-ish) darker woodier version of the original. The original was reformulated in the latest patches from being a perfect scent to be more green sharp basil opening and less woody and weaker ( that’s in the later refillable bottles) . But now this extrait version is even a way more woody and darker than the OG. I wish if they could bring back the OG early formula which was great performance wise and smell wise. However this version is good one.

Fragrantly almost identical to OG Bois Imperial, they've rounded it out a bit and it's more leathery and maybe a little more suited to colder weather. Its durability is definitely better, but the original is also durable. The question is why they made such an expensive liquid (30ml/135 euros) which is almost the same... It's probably a trick to attract lovers... to spend extra money, but they overdid it. In my opinion, it would be fair if 50ml was -120 euros.

I love the original Bois Imperial and when I saw that there would be Extrait, I had to try it out. I only got a sample, as the price really surprised me. 130 Euros for 30 ml??? That ́s ridiculous. Especially when the smelll is exactly the same as original and the price of the original is much, much better. I don ́t get any rose or pink pepper. It ́s basically the same smell. I am so happy because it means I don ́t have to have it, LOL!!!

To me, this must be one of the best smelling perfumes I have owned. It starts with an almost leathery note, comforting and warm. Then in the heart it slowly evolves into a rounded rose / woody smell. As someone has stated earlier, it may compare to Tom Ford Oud Wood in this stage. Next stages gives you a warm, rounded, embracing Woody note with balsamic fir and labdanum. And it lasts until the next day on my skin. Magnificent!

It’s already released on the website. Will hit European retailers on the 26th of October. I’m a bit skeptical about this one, the EDT has basil and akigala in the mix. This new one has rose, labdadum and pink pepper. It could smell like anything, Ganymede Extrait smells faintly of the EDT and is just a curry overload. This could also be rose/oud type smell. I will try before buying and will stick with the one I like most.

This sure is a funky one, as if Bisch took the OG, gave it a leather opening, one reminiscent of Ombre Leather edp, a Bois original mid notes, still relying on Akigalawood (just amped up as appropriate for an extrait) and for grand finale, the dry down of PDM Perseus. To me, this is something worth sampling, but not something I would wear (due to the leather). Great performance though.

Bisch with another masterpiece. Typing this out very impulsively, but I keep catching whiffs of this, nearly 40 hours, a long, warm shower and many hand-washings after applying a single spray to test it out and I'm deeply in love. People throw "nuclear" around a lot, but I genuinely believe my neighbours would choke to death if I dropped the bottle I'm getting of this.

Bois Impérial Extrait is a fragrance I appreciate, much like the original version. Even though they share a very similar scent profile, I don't find it redundant. The extrait is slightly darker and deeper. I particularly enjoy the light, leathery sensation emerging during the dry down stage. Additionally, this is quite potent; just a little goes a long way.

If you like Ganymede and BI, then you’re going to love it. It’s an absolutely beautiful fragrance. People are compelled to give compliments 😁 It’s woody, floral, spicy, and fresh. The performance on this is outstanding. I never owned Ganymede because it’s too spicy for my liking, but this one has mastered the balance for me, and I love it.

Nuclear woody amber with a hint of rose scent on my skin. Reminds me more of B683 than Ganeymede, maybe because that metalic/mineral MAB note is not so prominent here. Longevity is massive, silage not as strong as it is in Ganey/other MAB perfumes. The price is ok, considering the concentration. No need to overspray this one, for sure.

I have also tried this fragrance in the Paris store on St Germaine and can tell you it's stronger and has better projection than the original. I tried both and about 5 hours later the extrait was still performing. I'm personally waiting for the extrait to be released; the store rep said it would be about a month before it was released.

Beast mode fragrance . Its much better than the original much darker and higher quality. Although synthetically smelling its very good. My only complaint is the size of it . If this was 50 ml instead at the same price this would be a no brainer. 9/10!!

I love this perfume.Smells woody,spicy and has a little bit sweetness. This is very addictive fragrance and may be one of the best of all my perfumes! Can be used at any time of the year but in the summer time in the nights. The performance is great.

It’s definitely very similar to the OG, with the freshness toned way down and woods/fir balsam amped up. The feeling I get, is you will get a very similar result if you overspray the OG.

Pure seduction in a bottle. Excellent projection. If I have to describe it in a pure GenZ style then I would say," man in finance, 6 5, blue eyes" would be wearing this. :)

Nothing groundbreaking compared to the OG, but it is definitely smoother, more leathery, and less green/spicy. Probably not worth it if you already have it.

A great refined and powerful add on to the collection I have bois edp and ganymede and this Definitely bois extrait is the best and the finest

Amazing perfume with the same dna but on steroids which is most similar to the first batches. Only downside is the size of the bottle.

Great fragrance, very potent and woodsy. The only downside is that it comes in 30ml. We need 100ml of this gorgeous liquid!

Not unisex. Incredibly masculine- one of my favorites. Eternal longevity and breathtaking performance as well.

This is my new favorite perfume. Truly love from first sniff. Reminds me old good Bowhanti by The Body Shop.

Essential Parfums Bois Imperial Extrait is an extrait version successor from 2024 to the original EDP version from 2020. It has some overlap with the EDP in its fresh/spicy/classy/woody blend but it definitely has a bit more depth and provocation. It has similar notes of balsam, cedar, and black pepper, but adds rose and, a note I’m unfamiliar with, timut berry, which to me strikes me as somewhere in the vicinity of cade and juniper, a mix of green, sharp, and sweet aspects, which certainly add to the overall diversity of the scent and make it a departure from the safer yet still very sophisticated EDP. Overall, I think it’s very good, with the tradeoff from the agreeability of the EDP to some of the edginess / uniqueness of the extrait being reasonable. Unlike most of the house, which is EDP concentration and priced at $96 for 100ml, Bois Imperial Extrait is extrait concentration and priced at $145 for 30ml, more than quadrupling the cost per ml of the EDP. As with the rest of the line, this is sold in the US via great boutiques like Ministry of Scent and Luckyscent, along with the house’s own site. The much higher price point of the extrait is a slight barrier to entry, given how modestly-priced most of the line is, but I like it and anyone that likes Bois Imperial EDP should surely try out the Extrait, as they might find it more rewarding. I still like the Extrait, though. 7 out of 10
