Divine Vanille

I got a few different sample perfumes from Essential Parfums, this was the one that i was most excited to smell! Only other thing i can compare it to is TF Tobacco Vanille, Which i found a bit aggressive and offensive up-front when i first smelled it. Divine Vanille is definitely in the same family of smells but is much more palatable for me, a smoother experience overall but not as much staying power or sillage as TF. I sprayed it on a strip first and smelled it throughout the evening. It was quite sweet, a little warm, beautifully blended, even a little bit feminine. As it dried down and developed over the evening it got very sweet and musky, a bit powdery. Honestly it smelled really feminine, which i was surprised by since so many people rate it as a more masculine unisex. But then i sprayed it on the skin and WOW, whole new notes came through, and different on each wrist? On my left wrist that slightly smokey pipe tobacco note came in, i’ve seen several others mention it while others say it’s absent for them, and that musky powdery note was almost completely gone, while my right arm had a little more straightforward warm spiced vanilla to it. It was like i had my nose on two completely different fragrances. I’d heard about fragrances smelling different on skin vs a strip but i’ve never smelt quite such a difference with my own nose, and definitely not between wrists! Needless to say i think i’ve found my perfect vanilla, really beautifully blended with just enough other notes to keep it interesting, a smidge of booziness, warm and delicious but not too gourmandy, and honestly i think it’s kind of exciting to get different notes through at random times! Performance suits me perfectly. I really only want people to smell me when they’re at a more intimate distance, standing very close to me, leaning their head on my shoulder, hugging me. I got compliments on it when hugging to greet friends so it’s exactly what i’m looking for. Definitely not “Beast Mode,” more for people who like it understated or for more casual daily wear. Or for shyer people (like me,) “prey mode,” if you will. It was basically skin scent on me after a 9 hour hangout, just barely noticeable for goodbye hugs. Definitely not the longest lasting fragrance and will be completely gone the next day, but the great price point (100ml for £72 is insane for how beautiful this is) makes respraying a non issue to me. If i wanted a little boost mid-date i definitely wouldn’t feel too precious about it. Big Love for this fragrance and this perfume house, definitely getting a full bottle, a travel bottle, and then a 150ml refill in the future!

This one was a rollercoaster for me. I bought Maison Alhambra Hercules which is a clone of Herod and absolutely loved the DNA but that one didn't project at all. I didn't want to buy Herod because it's too expensive and I got Divine Vanille because many YouTubers claimed that it is herod with the tobacco swapped for incense to give the same vibe. When I first tried Divine Vanille, I could barely smell it, I only smelled a chemical opening and then it was very faint, the atomizer is really good and sprays a lot but even with 5 sprays that made my arm so oily, I still couldn't smell it that much. I was disappointed because I already had 2 herod "clones" and felt that I should have spent that money on the OG. I tried it in the summer (28-32c) and I was hoping that if I let it sit for a while, it would change by fall. Fast forward a couple of months later, now that it is fall, I absolutely love this fragrance. I can smell it now, the chemical opening is still there but it doesn't linger for more than 2 minutes so it's not something that bothers me anymore. The scent is so beautiful and cozy, it doesn't feel heavy or powerful up close but somehow projects really well, I keep getting whiffs that smell stunning. From what I read online, the latest reformulations of Herod are also not strong and sit close to the skin. I'm a huge tobacco fan and I seriously don't understand how some people smell tobacco here, I don't get any tobacco but I don't even care because the incense vanilla here is so amazing and does whatever tobacco is supposed to do. For the price, I will absolutely keep buying divine vanille till it is discontinued which I hope never happens. Because it is priced at less than half of Herod's price while having an option for a 150ml refill, I feel better spraying many sprays or just keeping it in my bag to reapply whenever I want. This scent is so lovely, sexy, and intoxicating while not being offensive at all. I will be using it a lot this fall and winter over many amazing tobacco fragrances I own like CH mystery tobacco and TF TV.

Divine Vanille is nearly identical to Tom Ford Vanille Fatale, except Vanille Fatale relies on tobacco for its spicy note, where Divine Vanille uses incense. I am not a big fan of vanilla on me -- partly because I'm not that into gourmand fragrances, partly because vanilla smells feminine on me. But DIvine Vanille is one of the few exceptions. This fragrance is for sure vanilla forward, but it's like an effervescent, bubbly vanilla instead of a creamy, vanilla extract type scent. In the mid, the scent profile isn't so much "vanilla with minor notes for variety," it's a very, very well-executed blend of cinnamon, incense and vanilla, in equal parts. It works so, so well. In the dry down, it vacillates between incense and vanilla. What an evolution of a fragrance's lifespan. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd want to add another vanilla fragrance to my collection (I do own the aforementioned Vanille Fatale), but this one just broke down the barriers. I love it. Pro Tip: If you're in the market for any Essential Parfums fragrance, it's cheaper to buy your first bottle directly from Essential Parfums. Buy the discovery set from Essential Parfums and the price of the set becomes a credit towards the purchase of a full bottle (so you essentially get the discovery set for free).

So I bought a discovery set from the brand, primarily to try Divine Vanille, but also everything else. Besides Divine Vanille which resembles the golden shine of divinity (I'm a sucker for spicy pipe tobacco vanilla scents), Patchouli Mania and Bois Imperial came behind, but way way behind so they are not really worth thinking about. The others are simply not for me. You can get a discount on the full bottle if you order it in the 30 days since you ordered your discovery set (in the amount you paid for it), but get this...... Even though not stated anywhere, except at the checkout, the discount doesn't apply to Divine Vanille. Never had vanilla that tasted of such bitterness, and, since this is now a matter of principles, I will not be buying anything from this brand, ever. (edit: ordered it since they rectified the problem) Speaking of the scent, it is reminiscent of Herod, but lighter on the tobacco. Still, it is a divine pipe-tobacco vanilla scent. Performance seems lackluster, but that might be due to the samples squirting like they're afraid the liquid will hurt you. Edit: They rectified the problem in a day since I contacted them, so perhaps it was just a technical glitch and my mind jumped the gun.

I wanted to try this perfume because I am a vanilla lover and I wanted a more grown up vanilla, something sophisticated and feminine rather than girly (if you know what I mean). Initially I didn't like this perfume because of the opening so I left it aside for a month. But I recently decided to try it again, and what a great decision! I am still unsure about the opening, but honestly it doesn't last more than a few minutes and the drydown is GLORIOUS. It is the most gorgeous warm, alluring, spicy vanilla that screams sensuality and coziness. The way it reacts with my skin creates a very particular scent that I would describe as the scent of a vanilla liqueur (I don't know if such a thing exists but if it does I'm pretty sure it smells like this!). The longevity is decent on the skin, but it does not project much (which is a shame). I'll try to overspray it to see if I can make it project more. However, on my clothes I can still smell it the day after. It is supposed to be unisex and I agree with that even though I would see it more on a woman.

Essential Parfums Divine Vanille is a warm vanilla scent with spices and resins that yields a cozy result that’s somewhat gourmand-leaning but still has a bit of a vanilla candle vibe, also. In fact, it has enough spice that it smells a lot like Parfums de Marly Herod, a celebrated sweet and spicy tobacco blend with vanilla and honey. Divine Vanille smells quite close, achieving a similar result without a listed tobacco note, pivoting the emphasis slightly to the vanilla, so the fragrance is similarly outstanding to Herod, with quite strong performance and more modest pricing. As with the rest of the house, this is EDP concentration and priced at $96 for 100ml, sold in the US via boutiques like Ministry of Scent, from which I bought my discovery set. For anyone looking for something quite comparable to Herod at a more modest price, this is a great alternative of similar quality. 8 out of 10

So this has been upvoted to be similar to Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain, and dare I say I like this better. SDV was short lived on my skin, but Divine Vanille has all around better performance. Combined with one of the best deals in niche—$75 for 100 ml this is a no brainer for fans of boozy, herbal vanilla. Far from sweet, Divine Vanille is a lovely, easy to wear fragrance. I can even wear it in warmer weather. There’s a little smoke in the profile but it never takes over. Maybe not a masterpiece, but pretty close. I blind bought the 10 ml in order to qualify for free shipping. It’s not unique but it is wearable and carefree. Edit 11.13.22 Finally bought a big bottle because I love it. One of the best niche deals around for a unique, approachable vanilla.

Man, the reviews are all over the place with this one. What I get is straight up Herod....but slightly more effervescent. The vanilla/cherry/powder/tobacco/spices are there but there's something in it that opens my nose. Someone posted below there was mint in the dry down which might be what is making my nose pop....but I'm not picking up mint to my nose. Olivier Pescheux is the perfumer for Divine Vanille and Herod which makes sense why DV smells relatively the same as Herod. 100% love for me. It's not a "beast" or "nuclear". I get roughly 6-8 hours of longevity and sits close to the skin after the 1-2 hour mark. Fall/Winter are the perfect seasons to wear and have worn to the office a time or two. Cheers!

I had never heard of this house, or of the perfumer Olivier Pescheux, until I happened across the article that Fragrantica published when he passed away. Divine Vanille is really something special as the herb, pepper wood and incense notes all bring out different facets of the intense, almost liqueur-like Madagascar Vanilla, holding each one up to the light. A lovely thing, totally non-gourmand and truly the best vanilla fragrance I have ever tried. EDIT: and full bottle worthy, obviously - it arrived today, just as my travel size was running out. The packaging is quite annoying, hard to get the bottle out without tearing it, but that is a small thing in light of so much beauty.

I adore this type of vanilla perfume. Rather than being obnoxiously sugary-sweet, Divine Vanille is truly divine: warm, cozy, snuggly, ever so slightly musky, and with just the right amount of spices, incense and tonka beans to make it perfect for winter. The scent is not particularly strong, but it lingers on my skin for several hours and remains pleasant throughout. There is obviously some patchouli in the base, but it is not strong and certainly not 'masculine'. The only objection to this fragrance is that it is not particularly original; yet, considering that it is much cheaper than many other products of this type, then this familiarity should be regarded as an advantage.

this is literally a 1:1 to herod in scent, longevity, and projection. they both smell amazing, they both do not last at all (maybe 3 hours max on skin), and they both do not project past like 6 inches. after about 90 minutes it becomes a skin scent. i hate this. i want a version of herod that is beast mode! i love this scent profile so much and i dont understand why there cant be a loud version of this. typically scent profiles like this are very beast mode, but this and herod are not. if you have herod, do NOT get this. and vice versa.

Divine Vanille by Essential Parfums is a unisex masterpiece. It begins with a spicy sweet blast that quickly evolves into a supremely blended concoction of cinnamon, sage, and vanilla swirling over the whisper of a soft cedar base. It is incredibly sexy and easy to wear, elegant enough for day with enough interest for evening. I find I can wear Divine Vanille in even the hottest of days as it never turns cloying and the incense and patchouli hover so delicately they’re hardly perceived. This fragrance is absolutely stunning!

I've Divine Vanille for quite a while and wore it a few times. It's a very nice Ambery vanilla bit incensey scent that's not overly loud so it suits wearing anywhere from. Day to night and all occasions. Not really unisex since the dna suits a man and I can hardly see a female wearing this but they'll probably like how you smell with this. There may be similarities to some popular scents around but on its own it works well and fine and don't need comparisons as a dupe or whatever. Nice enough wear as it's not sweet for me.

This is so beautiful. A better name for it might have been Divine Spicy Tobacco with a shot of Vanille. The vanilla isn’t the main attraction, or the only main attraction, of this fragrance. The spices are in the top, tobacco comes in the heart with some vanilla but it’s moderate, and a deeper vanilla is the base. It’s not too sweet or gourmand, it has almost a masculine feel and I find it very appealing. I wish this lasted a little longer and projected more after the first hour, but aside from that it’s perfection.

like herod, but remove the harsh pepper + tobacco from it. if you're a fan of the vanilla + iso e-super dry-down of herod, with added booze/rum like that in jazz club you'll most likely enjoy this Will update as I get more wears from the sample in Update:the longevity isn't that bad if you spray it on clothes, overall 8h+ on clothes with 1-2 hours of moderate-intimate projection, was able to catch whiffs of it for a fair while as it dries down it becomes much sweeter and the vanilla becomes much stronger to me.

Honestly I am surprised, such a budget and amazing quality.The aroma opened as a non gourmand vanilla tonka, with such an amazing undertone of cherry pit. It stood for about 6 months, and now is the winter is a time for it.It is not loud, but sits on the skin for about 6 hours amazingly polite and gorgeous.The entire line is pretty good with just few exceptions (rose,neroli,figs)are not interesting in my opinion.But for the money it’s a great quality,much better than lots of more expensive fragrances.

I purchased a sample of this after already owning a full bottle of Herod just to smell how close these two fragrances are to each other. Indeed, these two are exceptionally close which showcases what a great value Divine Vanille is; comparisons aside this is a fantastic scent for the price bracket this retails at. Comparing it to Herod, this seems a bit more aromatic where Herod is darker, richer. If I had to put a number on it though, I'd say it's definitely about 80% similar.

I love vanilla scents in general, but most of the ones I have (and most that I test in general) have a sweet, powdery, or cookie flair to them. This vanilla is different and I LOVE it. It’s boozy. It smells like a woman dressed in a mink fur coat, at a Christmas party. It’s warm, sweet but has a little kick to it, a bit of character. It’s absolutely delicious, and a favourite of mine for the cold season, for day as well as evening wear.

Chuckling at all the 'super masculine,' 'male only' comments in here. If this is too masculine, then you need to get your nose in check or try to smell some truly edgy scents. This is one of the most subdued scents in my collection. Or maybe you're used to all women smelling like pink sugary marshmallow clouds and non-offensive florals. This is 100% unisex, ladies don't sleep on this scent. Wear what you like.

Beautiful. As someone who hates artificial, overly gourmand, cloying vanillas, I’m always on a quest for vanillas that are natural, balanced, and not too sweet with added depth from woods or spice, perhaps brightened by citrus or florals. To the exception of citrus/florals, Divine Vanille is a perfect vanilla for me. I’m actually not sure citrus/florals would improve it, either. Cannot stop sniffing.

The best sweet gourmand smell I have faced ever so far. A tasty skin should smell like this one right here. I can tell that the nose behind this loves women. They adore women so much that they have come up with this one. I absolutely became a fan of this. I’d wear this daily, but preferably not nightly. Because there are better night vanilla scents. This is a soft pick for a day.

This is not Herod. This is the introverted poet cousin of SDV + Ambre Narguille crossed with Crabtree and Evelyn's Lavender Verbena. It's not yelling like Angel's Share and isn't as peppery and dry as Eau Duelle either. Simply a quiet, contemplative vanilla incense sipping cinnamon tea. This goes next to Tea for Two on my shelf; it gives the same vibe. Beautiful on a rainy day.

Very beautiful! I disagree it’s masculine... it’s not in the room with us. It is spicy similar to Angels Share except this is more airy. The dry down especially smells so classy and feminine and understated I can’t stop smelling my wrist. This is more of an “elevated basic” if you will but it’s also unique, not a common vanilla perfume which I think makes it alluring.

If only it projected or lasted longer!! Divine Vanille is very beautifully composed and grounded, ingredients feel and are absolutely natural and high quality. I adore the fresh + warm spiciness with an abundant vanilla base, it is truly all year round for me, but now that spring is coming, I definitely see this working perfectly in the spring.

I don't know why but candied fruits come into my mind whenever I try to describe this perfume. Like you're eating candied fruits while a stick of incense burns beside you. It makes no sense but that's the image that conjures in my mind. It's sweet but not overwhelmingly so. I quite like it especially spraying a bit on my wrist before bedtime.

I really like this one! The vanilla is there but is not that sweet to my nose which make it very unisex. This is a great plus as I often find vanilla fragrances heavy to wear and I get tired of being under a thick sweet scent. To my liking this is one of their best fragrances in the line atm and It Is really worth to check it out.

I love fragrances with faint sillages, but with so much character when you smell them up close, and that is this fragrance for me. Sexy, boozy, non conventional vanilla that would allure you on a dark fall night out. So much mystery, but only if you get close enough. Obsessed (+ pairs REALLY well with the Saltair Driftwood line)

I’m not sure where people are getting that this is too masculine because it’s very unisex to me. I love this for an everyday kind of vanilla. It’s soft enough to please most noses, though I wouldn’t consider it a blind buy. Not being sweet might throw some people off but I loved it. It’s spicy but not in a screechy way.

It’s the smell of the cinnamon apple pie my mother used to make. The sweetness is balanced, there isn’t too much cinnamon, I also get incense in the background. Osmanthus gives it a little freshness, like a drop of lemon in the apple filling of said apple pie. It is so comforting (and inobtrusive), I love it!

This is a stunning, unsweet, almost herbal vanilla. It’s soft without being weak. There’s a glorious smokiness to it. I am on a perfume No Buy for 2026 but I will get my hands on this in 2027. Edit: I made it to March 2026 before buying it. I’m only human. The perfume No Buy year is going incredibly poorly...

One word: divine. This is lovely, cozy, soft, beautiful scent. Pure love! I am surprised, that there are no Shalimar mentions at all. When I first sprayed this, it instantly reminded me of my dear grandmother, Shalimar was her signature scent. Because of this image, I do not know if I can wear this.

In the initial stages the florals are really strong, also the powdery note is definitely there, it is also pleasant..But the dry-down in five-six hours... Man, that IS divine... Beautiful idea, classy, interesting and original. IMO office friendly and actually great for many occasions.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. It pulls very spicy on me as opposed to overly gourmand, which I definitely prefer. It reminds me of Besamé’s discontinued 1930 fragrance, but with less spice and more present vanilla. A very warm scent that reminds me of a candlelit winter night.

Gorgeous vanilla in this one, really really beautiful. Opens up strong and slightly boozy for a couple seconds, then turns into this deep, rich and balsamic vanilla with the osmanthus. Beautiful blend going on between the vanilla, the osmanthus and the benzoin. Love it.

This is gorgeous! A not overly sweet vanilla, with a very lightly floral background which in combination with the incense and cinnamon makes me think of opening a package of completely fresh tobacco. I really love this, but it fades a little too quickly.

I think this is a very nice Vanilla. Reminded me immediately of Herod, though it’s definitely not the same. For the price I think it’s a great buy. Personally I think it’s a little more unisex than Herod, I could see a woman wearing this in the office.

So good. Its super light and weak, but thats okay thats why i bought it. easy to wear to school or in the car with family because its not strong to choke anyone out but enough for people to notice that you smell good. easy and cheap its great

Oh, this is truly divine! So warm, addictive vanilla without being overly sweet or gourmandish in a cloying way. Absolutely unisex. As for all Essential Parfums - really, really price worthy! High quality scents that are afforable. I love it!

YES. This is perfect. I love Herod but I think I like this even better. It's definitely warm and spicy and theres that distinct sort of medicinal, camphorous aspect that makes it really addictive. Smells like a sexy cherry cough drop.

Oh this is good. Spice, amber and vanilla that leans smoky and isn’t sweet at all. Def a unisex scent intimate and seductive. Unexpected favourite from the Essential Parfums Discovery Set. Def a contender for a full size bottle

Dolce, caldo, speziato, note legnose (o è il tabacco?) con un pizzico di incenso. Una vaniglia matura e sofisticata, non gourmand, molto sensuale. Molto bello anche stratificato con Patchouli Mania

Really high-quality vanilla in the same family as Herod by pdm. Great for anyone looking for a warm and creamy vanilla fragrance which isn't overly sweet and sugary. 10/10 imo

The black pepper and sage makes it smell like a burnt match in the opening. But the scent overall smells like pdm Oajan and spicebomb mixed. 9/10.

I love PDM Herod, one of my all times! This is very close and a fantastic alternative. Smooth vanilla, smoke and tobacco. A masterpiece.

Good for bedtime. Sits close to the skin, vanilla, tonka, a little wood, hints of cinnamon, and something almost like creamy coconut.

Excellent, however Herod is superior and they're like 90% similar, very redundant if you own Herod like I do.

Amazing! This smells like mix of Herod PDM and TF Tobacco Vanille... very cozy and sensual. I love it!
