Mon Vetiver

On Essential parfums: Every now and again a brand comes along that really hits on every level. Essential parfums is one those brands. Superb perfumes, nothing superfluous or irrelevant in the lineup, a nice number of releases, Frederic Malle style focus on perfumers (all of which are fantastic master perfumers) with their name (and picture) pride of place on the bottle and marketing materials. A commitment to sustainability, in terms of perfume materials and packaging, transparency about natural naturals used and their source, and the really important thing to most consumers an pledge to keep prices affordably low without sacrificing quality. So a brand that truly adds value and brings a lot to the table. I have huge admiration and respect for them and they should be applauded for the whole concept of the brand. Mon Vetiver is really great. I can't fault it's themes, might put some on the back foot as there's a controlled jibe of woody amber in the opening (moreso on a strip) but when applied to skin the vetiver aspect comes alive!!! It's fresh top notes, effervesce with juniper and quinine vibes, so the G&T association is there as is the classic pairing of grapefruit and vetiver, sharing that bitter edge. I think it's great, it's a minimal piece but considering Bruno does a few for Malle, he's not phoning it in here. I'm picky about vetivers and this although really decent doesn't fully do the job for me, as in recent years I've started to prize (Vintage) Guerlain vetiver as my favourite vetiver as it has a little more grit than something like this. however if I was ever was in the market for a functional, synthy, vetiver I'd get this over many others as I love the brand and feel that the value on offer here is just too hard to pass on. This is a must for vetiver lovers to at least check it out, because you will be seriously impressed I'd say.

Lots of reviewers correctly identify the bright lime, grassy vetiver, juniper/gin sparkle and woody drydown. Several identify "something" that they either like or really dislike. When I smelled this blind, I was struck by what I thought was a prominent artemesia/rhubarb scent, a bitter earthy element that I love when blended properly. When I later read the notes and didn't find either of those, I was dumbfounded. But what I smelled was gentian! It is the primary flavoring ingredient in things like amaro and Campari. It is beautifully done in this one, and it sets this apart from those you might think would be similar (lime & gin of Guerlain L'Homme and Eau Boisee). The bitter earthiness contrasts with the lime, vetiver and juniper in a way that adds about 15 years to the target demographic and several layers of class. I have never smelled gentian this prominent, so consider this to be something of a reference scent. I have many vetiver fragrances in my collection, as it is one of my favorite notes. This does not smell like any of the others. Vetiver lovers should have a bottle of this on their shelf. For the rest, this is probably close enough in a vague sense to Guerlain Vetiver, TF Grey Vetiver, etc. that you don't NEED it, but since samples seem easy to get from the House, it is worth a try. I get better performance than most of those below, spraying 8 shots to the chest and shirt, and I think anosmia plays a bigger role than you might expect. But like most vetivers, this doesn't shout. You could wear this to a Broadway show and with an hour of drydown your neighbor would get hints of something very evocative without any risk of being overwhelmed. Easily worth the $65 I paid.

I got this as a free sample with another order and it’s been a wonderful surprise that’s led me on a journey of discovery to explore more from Essential Parfums. A delightfully clean and refreshing opening - a burst of lime, laced with gin and some light lavender on a fresh green vetiver, which is so much more than the sum of its parts. Brings to mind a cleansing, purifying light shower of cool rain settling on lush, damp, verdant foliage on a fresh summer morning. It’s bright and airy, there are no heavy woods or dark notes to weigh this composition down, even the vetiver seems particularly light and delicate. The notes are very pure and naturalistic and the blending is masterful. If I had to compare it to Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver; it’s deceptively simpler, minus the nutmeg, more green, vibrant and luminous but most importantly it’s every bit as good at a fraction of the price. I actually prefer it to Grey Vetiver. Projection is fairly good, around 4 feet, longevity is ample, several hours. Ideal for daytime wear in spring and summer, it’s both office safe and a little unusual, I really like it and have ordered a travel spray. Strongly recommended to Vetiver lovers and all fans of good perfumery. It’s fantastically good value for a niche level fragrance, which has got me interested to try more of the house’s offerings. They’re definitely a house worth exploring.

Man this stuff is criminally under-rated and slept on. It’s actually crazy. A beautiful Lime and Gin opening that smells super diffusive and high quality, that settles to a woody Lavandin and Vetiver mix and down to a smooth woody Vetiver in the base. Nothing here smells sharp or synthetic or cheap, the quality of these ingredients and the blending is second to none. It smells beautiful. Personally I don’t see the similarities to Grey Vetiver at all besides them sharing the one note (which is done in a different way in each) - I don’t really like Grey Vetiver whereas I LOVE this. I think that if people are getting put off this stuff thinking it’s just like Grey Vetiver they’ll be seriously missing out. I also don’t think it’s similar to Roja Vetiver or Guerlain Vetiver... I know that some people will always vote for the same things with literally every Vetiver scent but as a Vetiver fanboy myself, I have never smelled anything that smells quite like this. It goes in its own direction. As has been pointed out, the performance is pretty light, which of course will be make-or-break for many people, but for me the trade off is worth it for the quality, naturalness and beauty of the composition. This stuff is a masterpiece imo, and for the price an absolute steal. If you love Vetiver and/or Gin/Juniper scents, you owe it to yourself to at least try it.

Essential Parfums Mon Vetiver is a balanced fresh-meets-dark blend in which vetiver mixes with a gin/lime/juniper cocktail and patchouli. It matches a dark, earthy, ashy vetiver note accord against a bright, green, citrus ensemble that makes for a vetiver scent that’s neither remarkably fresh nor dark, a great crossroads between fresh vetiver scents (i.e. Vetiver Original, Trefle Pur) and darker vetiver scents (i.e. Encre Noire), quite impressive at that intersection, with very good performance. Like the rest of the line, Mon Vetiver is EDP concentration and priced at $96 for 100ml, very reasonable in the current market, sold in the US by boutiques Ministry of Scent, from which I bought my discovery set. I’m not generally a huge fan of vetiver scents but this one is frankly very easy appreciate and versatile in that it’s neither strictly fresh nor earthy/ashy, somewhere in between. Very nice stuff. 8 out of 10

I really wanted to like it and blind bought a full bottle as I love Bois Impérial, however it is very bland. Usually I love Vetiver and mixed with juniper and lavender my expectations were high! Especially since it’s from Bruno Jovanovic one of the rising stars of French perfumery. There is nothing that really stands out, it doesn’t showcase vetiver well, nor juniper nor lavender. It’s just a generic citrus cologne. What’s worse is that based on my experience with Bois, I was expecting great performance, but this lasts 1-2 hours max and is gone. Really disappointed, zero effort here from the brand and perfumer. There is no reason at all to buy this, if you like vetiver there are tons of choices and if you just want a generic cologne for the summer just buy Acqua di Parma or a clone. No one will be able to tell the difference between this and any other generic cologne.

I really like this and the more I wear it the better it gets. There are some notes that my nose amplifies like crazy, and vetiver is one of them. So for me this is definitely a vetiver fragrance and I love it. Fresh citrus burst in the opening, but not harsh. It’s smooth, and a bit soapy, a bit green. It softens and warms up after 10-15 mins. Citrus fades over the next and the vetiver comes forward, supported by lavender. Clean, earthy, smooth, slightly floral. Wearing in winter, and the performance is good. 5 sprays (two on each wrist and one of the back of the neck) produces a pleasant scent bubble with a few feet of projection. The atomizer is a BEAST; probably will only need 2 in warmer months. This one got an unsolicited compliment from my partner (rare) so that’s also a bonus.

Gin & tonic/ mojito (almost like the citric acid from carbonated drinks you can think of) & with aquatic-clean vetiver, Juniper and a very faint lavender. I like it. Pretty weak but scent is just amazing. Best of the ep line. I hate vetiver and lavender. This made me change my mind. Probably nicest vetiver and a hint of just enough lavender I have had a taste of. Godsent blend of notes. Fresh/Spring. Edit: i wore it to bed and when i wake up i couldn't smell it on me anymore, and my nose is extremely sensitive in the morning so this concludes it's weakness in one go, it's extremely weak for it to completely vanish within 8 hours. So this is a 2 - 4 hrs max fragrance. Very disappointing longitivity.

Mon Vetiver by Essential Parfums is a true joy for my senses! This is a quality blend - it's green, fresh, cold and easy to wear. The vetiver note is modern and well put. I think it got kind of Atelier Cologne vibe - harmonious and natural mix of fresh and green-earthy accords. It's elegant and versatile as well - anyone at any age could wear it at any occasion. It got lovely sparkling and uplifting aroma, like a fresh glass of Mojito :) Performance is somewhere between bad and mediocre, but this is not so important. The scent itself is very well composed! So far, Mon Vetiver and Nice Bergamote are my favorites from Essential Parfums.

Probably my favorite in the line. It's a clean, somewhat understated vetiver that's soapy not earthy. Soapy, green vetiver that's similar to Original vetiver from Creed, very nice, not too formal and quite versatile. I personally don't get the comparison to guerlain's homme EDP, which I own but I can see why people would say that as it shares some of the notes. I would say this is excellent for spring and maybe summer. It's slightly masculine but I think a woman can also pull this off. Bottle worthy for me.

I can see why some would say this has some similarity with grey vetiver but this is much more fresher and citrus (lime?) forward. This is the casual version while grey vetiver is more formal. IMO this resembles Original vetiver (pre 2024) from creed much more closely than grey vetiver. This is a good fragrance, one of my favorite from the line up and has decent performance, personally I can't see why it has a sub 4 rating on this site, for me it's a solid 4.25 - 4.5.

Hidden gem. Airy, slightly smoky, sweet, light. It's probably the cashmere/juniper-lime combo. The Vetiver itself smells clean, soapy, but almost gritty (this is just my nose—from its earthy facets) in a good way. I keep coming back to it. One of the best from the house. Longevity is OK. Projection is good while it lasts. Will get you through half a work day.

I really like Mon Vetiver. The citrus-vetiver combination is appealing to me. Unfortunately, it too closely resembles Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, which I own, but doesn't perform as well as Grey Vetiver, so there's no point to buying this fragrance. If I didn't own GV, I'd for sure grab a Mon Vetiver bottle. Good bang for the buck.

Mon Vetiver comes across as a fresh, effervescent lime soda/gin, there's a dark/smoky aspect to it probably from the juniper, which to my nose makes it different from most vetiver scents I've sampled. Pleasant and bright, an underrated gem.

This is amazing. The best Vetiver fragrence after Artisan Parfumeur vétiver écarlate, even better than Frédéric Malle. Juicy green fresh. This is an instant love for me. The gin tonic/lemonade vibe is there and it is amazing.

Very nice vetiver leading fragrance, bolstered by the lime. Very clean, and a little beautiful. It's fresh, subtle and modern. It has a light soapiness to it, but in the nicest way. I'm really enjoying it.

Grown up clean and gentle vetiver scent. For those who think that Hermés and other famous vetiver scents are to harsh. Last a few hours sadly. Something to wear for events and business meetings maybe.

So far this is one of the more enjoyable masculine scents in the discovery set, clean but with a slight earthy, smoky undertone, neither takes over too much. Very approachable Vetiver.

Love love love! Bring the best parts from Guerlain Vetiver and Homme EDP. Modern, smooth but with a good projection, a good option if you like lime and vetiver.

For me this is similar to Guerlain's Vetiver. This one is maybe simpler, perhaps having less green. But I like this kind of vetiver so it is very enjoyable.

One of the easiest wearing, freshest vetivers on the market. scent breakdown - Opens with bright, bubbly, and intensely citric with a lime gin and tonic accord. As it begins to dry, the juniper becomes woody and and leads the way for the earthy vetiver to come and a provide backbone and depth to the freshness of the opening. In the deep dry down the vetiver almost completely takes over. personal thoughts - A true mood boosting, Swiss Army knife vetiver fragrance for the warm weather. Love that gin and tonic accord transition to the woody and earthy vetiver. Easily, the most underrated fragrance from Essential Parfums, and I’m 98% sure it’s cause people are disappointed with the performance. However, this fragrance was designed to be worn under extreme heat or when you’ll be working outside in the warm weather and liberally spritzed. And for the price per mL, I’ll lather in it. performance - Moderate performance of 6-8 hours with moderate to intimate projection for the entirety. rating - 8.5/10. Signature scent worthy. when to wear - summertime picnic dates; Spring/Summer yard work; Business Brunch by the sea. song vibe - Every Morning by Sugar Ray TLDR - Like Gin and Tonic + earthy vetiver + woody juniper. Super classy, crisp, and refreshing take on vetiver. Easily the most underrated from the house, and a must try if a fan of juniper or vetiver, but also easy going enough for ppl new to the note. Side note - Layer this with The Musc or Orange X Santal from the house. The Musc has really helped last it a lot longer on my skin as the musk and earthy vetiver mix surprisingly well, and the Orange provides such a beautiful citric sweetness

Mon Vetiver caught me off-guard, the way a glint of light sometimes catches the eye in a place you were certain would stay dim forever. Vetiver and I, we don’t usually dance. It's more like we side-eye each other at parties. Rooty, smoky, with a dusty mineral tang that always felt a little too serious for my bloodstream. But here. Here it fizzes. A surge of lime. Sharp, crystalline, a cocktail sparkle of citral and aldehydes, it slices through the dense green mass, setting it aglow from the inside out. Fresh spearmint and sage sweep in, alive, on a breeze, breathing life into what could have been just damp earth and grave seriousness. There’s a strange effervescence to the whole thing, like crushed herbs fizzing at the bottom of a tall, sweating glass of tonic water. You know that soft-bitter sparkle? It's just that. Ahhhh. The vetiver itself stays classic at heart: grassy yet woody, laced with its innate sharpness. But somehow! It’s been taught to laugh, it's been lightened. Tilted skyward. Mon Vetiver the miracle of reframing a bitter truth into a bright one. Of finding the first sweet green blade growing through a crack in the asphalt. And honestly. I didn’t know vetiver could feel playful, and I LOVE being wrong like this. Vetiver? Maybe we will dance after all.

Underrated in my opinion, judging by the ratings. It's no Bois Imperial in terms of the best this house has to offer, but it's still a lovely scent. Probably the cleanest vetiver I've smelt. It's very bright, grassy and clean. Not the earthy/pungent type at all. The lime in particular does a really nice job of adding/enhancing to the brightness of the scent, and the gin/juniper gives it a nice subtle fizzy quality. Easiest vetiver of all to wear in my opinion. Doesn't come off as old fashioned or mature as some of the other vetiver greats which I love such as the ones from Creed, Guerlain, and even Hermes' TdH Eau Intense Vetiver. Performance leaves something to be desired, this stays very close to skin, but the scent itself is great and perfect for the office or any close encounter situations were you need to smell clean and well put together. It's a your skin but better type of fragrance. I will say however it's a bit too safe and not the most innovative or creative scent in the world. For that reason I still prefer TF's Grey Vetiver if I had to choose one vetiver scent for the rest of my life.

I understand why people think this has poor longevity; the top notes fade fast, and the middle notes don’t stick around for much longer. This opens with a wonderful, bright, citrusy gin and tonic note, which is also a bit minty to my nose. The next stage is all juniper and vetiver: woodsy and fresh. After that is where most people might feel as though the fragrance has betrayed them in terms of longevity, but I think it’s the best part. The fragrance turns into a soft, masculine, soapy scent, perfect for literally any setting, and it lasts on my skin for at least 8 hours with a soft projection. It gives me vibes of the drydown of Prada Amber pour Homme without the myrrh: clean, close, and office-safe. It’s also geared towards spring and summer, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this could be for you. It’s worth noting again that it leans masculine. Regardless, try it out! Your skin might like it.

Unfortunately not the strongest from the house imo, but also not bad, a testament to the consistency of this house, yet nothing to write home about. Bright sweet opening, very Sprite-like with a touch of juniper, the nicest phase of the scent imo. Then comes the expected vetiver drydown, nice and tangy at first, quickly becoming a bit thin and hollow with a weaker cedary musky note staying as a residual skin scent. Once again, doesn't smell bad by any means, the opening is actually quite good. Best enjoyed as an ultra-light warm weather freshie. To me it feels like the budget was stretched a bit too thin with this one without a solid enough idea behind it. If you enjoy this I highly recommend checking out Guerlain Homme l'Eau Boisee before buying a full bottle, much more vivid and robust lime and vetiver, and costs like 45$ on discounters right now because it is getting discontinued.

After sampling all of Essential Parfums' offering, this is the one I got a full-size bottle of. Mon Vetiver prickles you. It's barbed and thorny, yet at the same cool and breezy. My visual oscillates between a crown of thorns and steel barbed wire. Steel and silver breeze remind me of Gentle Fluidity Silver, the brown vetiver of the one in TdH. It's really quite unique. Burst of energy. While techically an EdP, I think of this as a cologne, an after shave, an after shower pick me up - or just an easy reach summer/sports scent. The performance is 4-5 hours, enough for this kind of perfume. It leaves a pleasant ambroxanlike smell on your clothes (yes, pleasant this time). As always with EP, the price to quality ratio is outstanding.

Very very nice. I just received my bottle today. The glas is heavy and the edges are lean. It is a bit too big to hold in my hand, but hey, it is 100 ml. The opening is zesty, the vetiver has this grapefruit/citrus take on, the scent is cold - which brings this mojito/gin vibe - thanks to juniper berry I Would assume. It would be very crispy in summer I suppose If you like vetiver but find some of them being too masculine (I am looking at you, TF Grey vetyver or Guerlain Vetiver), this might be for you. It is very soft, like Armani Privee Vetiver, so suitable for everyday office wear or lazy Sunday. Longevity is so-so, quite Weak. But I don’t mind of re-applying. I love the concept having a chance to buy 10 ml travel sizes.

Surely a safe and sound swig of gin and lime spilling on a Haitian vetiver stalk, seamlessly shaken and stirred in lavender, encian, juniper and casherman essences that as a collective whiff treads on familiarity yet tonic pleasantry; one that is freshly light and sharply clean with typical limited performance lasting a warm weather picnic. Here the vetiver is nuanced and in the guise of a likable soda, one that is an easy breezy sip at a favourable premium and comparable to other 7-UP spritzes on the perfume menu. Remarkable? Unique? No... Simply nice to a fault and one that neither waxes the olfactory or wanes it, only fizzes as most cocktails generally do.

This? From the same guy that brought us Fierce?? Yep. This quiet, unisex fragrance is about as unlike Fierce in every way you can imagine. It's a subtle and natural scent that speaks in measured tones, while it remains close to the skin. It's important to note that despite the name, vetiver is part of the choir here ... not the soloist. As with anything from this house, performance is not what you'd expect from an EDP (although it lasts much longer than you may think it does). That must be where they cut the cost in order to make their offerings affordable, though; the quality of the ingredients is unquestionably there. Recommended.

Vetiver that strats fresh and dries down soft and a tiny bit sweet. Absolutely inoffensive, great for office, works amazing on my skin in hot weather. If you dislike vetiver, well, as you can guess from its name, it's not an option for you, as this note is prominent and dominant from the first spray till about 5 hours on If you spray it on your clothes you'll get more of its citrucy side 7,5 / 10 Honestly priced, works wonders in hot weather, no one will hate you for this smell, unisex Not groundbreaking, but not everything should be

I bought this bottle as part of TPG's clearance, so far under retail, and at that price I'm really happy with it. The vetiver-wood combo works really well, and it has an earth undertone that makes this more masculine than unisex. It gives me 6-8 hours of longevity, arms-length projection for an hour or so before settling into a skin scent. The fresh-wood combo makes it great for 3 spring through fall, being able to be worn day and night on warmer days. If you can find this on a reasonable discount, it makes a great value.

this smelled familiar right from the start, and i realized when I compared them side by side that it smells like the dry down of Coriander by D.S. & Durga. Sure enough, they both have lime, lavender, and juniper notes. Coriander is brighter and more citrusy in the beginning, but dries down to what Mon Vetiver smells like when you first spray it. After two hours, they smell nearly identical to me on my skin. And I'm not complaining -- might be nice to layer them to enhance the longevity of both.

Love the opening: a juniper, lime (bergamot) swirling around a gin cocktail. Vetiver comes out in the drydown, it’s earthy and realistic. Mon Vetiver leans masculine on my skin, as many vetiver based scents do, but I think a woman can still pull it off. Everything I’ve tested from Essential Parfums has been pleasant and natural, a good entry point for anyone looking to explore beyond designer fragrances. None of them are big performers, the only downside.

Smells very nice and pleasant. To anyone reading , yes it absolutely resembles realistic lime/ gin smell at first. However, it’s blended into other ingredients that develops to become a great, gentle , clean *Man* vibe. However, as others have stated, the longevity is.... Weak. Very much so. Same with projection. So if you are into the market for smelling clean and refreshed (your nose only) for approximately 2 hours, then this is the fragrance for you!

Vetiver for me is something with a very masculine scent and is usually something for colder weather. This is kind of the opposite, but i like it: the gin and lime notes are giving the perfume a very freshie vibe. It’s for warmer seasons, but not for hot summers. In the drydown you really have that masculine note of the vetiver, along with patchouli and lavander. It’s a very easy fragrance, that still carries a bit of elegance.

A fine vetiver fragrance. It amazes me how many things people can do with this note--it is one of the most versatile of all. The opening is like a vetiver gin and tonic and is intoxicating. Those top notes of gin, juniper, lime and vetiver mostly vanish in the drydown, where you can smell more distinctly the lavender and cashmeran. Those notes are less powerful than the opening ones, but this is elegant all the way through.

Mon Vetiver is fresh, clean, with prominent vetiver, citrus, and juniper notes, drying down to a subtle sweet lavender; however, its longevity is not the best. All in all, this is a simple, clean, and fresh perfume, suitable for everyday wear, but lacks longevity. I like it, but would not buy it (testing from a sample). Edit: after wearing Mon Vetiver a couple of times, it has grown on me.

Uncomplicated, bright scent. Vetiver develops into many shades here but it is always soothing and clean. Juniperus adds fresh, resinous hint, bit masculine in combination with gin. Lavender continues in purity and makes a soapy impression, melted in cashmeran. This perfume is cozy, pleasant and presents vetiver in the best way. --- Unfortunately, sillage and longevity fades after 3 hours.

Essential Parfums. Mon Vetiver. Simple and nice. Not much of a juniper note. Overpowered by the lime. Clean Vetiver. Duplicative of other Vetiver. Light and pleasant. You could do much worse and the price is right. I’ll stick to the Hermes, Terre d’Hermes line. Better performance and more complex but this works for a cleaner and lighter Vetiver. Good summer hot day fragrance.

The opening reminds me of Gentle Fluidity Silver; the greenery in it of Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee. The base vetiver note is closer to the earthy brown in TdH Eau Intense Vetiver. Like in Gentle Fluidity Silver, there's a light ambroxan type smell here, might be the cashmeran. Good stuff. This and Orange X Santal were my favorites in the Essential Parfums discovery set.

100% gin and tonic on the opening that gets woodsier and manlier throughout the dry down. Attractive and confident scent if not the most complex or unique vetiver out there—it really can’t be by virtue of this line focusing on highlighting single ingredients in each fragrance. But the quality and refined blending in each is evident.

For vetiver lovers, for sure! I can smell vetiver with a lemon gin touch. Very fresh scent, perfect for hot day (spring and summer). More for men to my opinion, but do what you want! Classic and chic, office compatible, very versatile. Not original but very good quality of ingredient. 8/10 for my husband

I bought this a year ago and at first I was not that into it! Now that spring is starting to show I am loving this! It’s very fresh and clean with citrus and Vetiver which is so fresh smelling. This is a genderless fragrance with longevity lasting about 4 to 6 hours on me. Excellent for spring 9/10

Bizarre how clean this is. At the beginning, I got a spritz of citrus, followed by an urgent vetiver that took its place beautifully. I caught a whiff of something close to lavender, but as time passed, all that was left is a gorgeous vetiver with a hint of piney elements. Collectable, 7/10

It's interesting how differently people experience this. This doesn't smell like vetiver to me, nor do I smell lime or gin/juniper. All I smell is a warm, rich woody smell (probably from the cashmeran), which projects pretty strongly. It's simple but pleasant and lasts a long time.
