Nice Bergamote is absolutely the latter. One spray and I went, “Oh. Ohhh. This is it.” Some scents take their time - this one kicks the door open with a grin. Antoine Maisondieu set out to create “a vibrant tribute to the aristocratic beauty of Calabrian bergamot,” and honestly, he nailed it. The opening is juicy, glowing, almost round bergamot - no harsh edges, no lemon-cleaner sharpness. Just sunshine: bright, fresh, a little sparkly, with a soft floral heartbeat running through it. And then the rose and jasmine petals... not “petals” you can point to, more like a soft-focus filter. A dewy blur that smooths everything out and lifts it. No floral bomb, just this tiny breath of prettiness that makes the citrus feel elegant, effortless, fluid. Totally unisex - radiant without being sweet, fresh without ever slipping into generic. Give it a little time, and the woods start peeking through. Sandalwood, cedar, tonka - warm, creamy, quietly confident. They don’t pull the brightness down; they give it something solid to lean on. It dries down into this warm, serene skin scent that somehow still radiates optimism. And the longevity? Shockingly good for a citrus: easily 5–7 hours on me. In the end, Nice Bergamote just works. Everywhere. Office, weekend, spring walks, grey days when you need a lift. It smells like pure optimism caught in a rainbow beam. One of the most captivating scents I came across recently, this one truly drew me in. I was close to reselling it due to its modest performance, yet the scent itself kept calling me back. Over time, I refined the way I wore it, carrying a small decant and reapplying with intent, which subtly transformed the experience. There’s an artisanal elegance to it: effortlessly uplifting, natural in character, and quietly refined in its niche aura. The composition may appear simple on paper, but it’s blended with a finesse that feels almost handcrafted, each note placed with restraint, allowing the scent to breathe and evolve gently on skin. It wears close, personal, and intimate, perfectly office-safe, yet equally suited for moments of calm, even as a bedtime companion when you seek a soft lift in mood. Reminds me a lot of Moschino Funny! and Seaside Infusion by Massimo Dutti that same breezy, citrus-floral brightness with an easygoing, feel-good character. About the scent: It opens with a luminous burst of bergamot, bright, zesty, and sunlit, before gracefully settling into a delicate white floral heart. The citrus lingers like a soft halo, intertwined with ylang-ylang and a whisper of woody undertones. Remains relatively linear through the mid, eventually drying down into a crisp woody accord. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 4/10 Sillage: 5/10 Natural smelling: 9/10 Value: 7/10 Versatility: 10/10

Opens with a relatively gentle burst of bergamot, it’s abrasive edge tempered with white florals. The sharp, citric freshness of bergamot can sometimes be a bit assertively in-your-face, for example in countless men’s freshies but here it has been toned down and made more gentle, delicate even. The base is a soft bed of warm cedar and tonka, handled quite sparingly to keep the floral bergamot accord front and centre as much as possibly throughout the life of the fragrance. Projects very well, but longevity is in line with most citrus frags, however the dry down stays a skin scent for a very long time. It’s a lovely unisex perfume ideally suited to warm weather. EP’s perfumes all have the hallmark of high quality, deftly blended, deceptively simple naturalistic fragrances, which give a starring role to one single ingredient, with a small cast of subtle supporting notes. The straightforward names of many of their fragrances reflect the no-frills simplicity inherent in their composition and to some extent their whole ideology. I’ve been very impressed and not found any fault whatsoever in any of their line, having tried all but one of them. My favourites are The Musc, Divine Vanille and Mon Vetiver but they are all very good. What really sets EP apart from other niche houses is the great affordability and that alone makes them well worth exploring for most fragrance fans.

First impression: Well, normally I am not a fan of citrusy&fresh perfumes at all. It might be caused by the fact that during my not-so-happy teenage years, Light Blue was very popular and everyone including me wore its cheaper drugstore dupe. I didn't know anything about perfumes back then. However, only today I got a full bottle of Bois Imperial and a Nice Bergamote sample by Essential perfumes. Both with prominent citrusy freshie vibe to it. And I am in love with both of them. Nice Bergamote is, at least how I perceive it, not that typical citrusy, almost air freshener type of scent. It's sweetish, innocent, almost baby like citrus with something sunny and very enjoyable to it. So pure...Very clean, with a little hint of yellow flowers, though what should be ylang ylang supposedly smells like mimosa to me... all the way, I'm impressed, and it's difficult to impress me with a citrusy fragrance. This is going to be my next FB purchase from this brand. I know this may seem light and airy, but it's perfect for summer. I am about to test its longevity and sillage but I think I already made my decision...Such a simple scent, yet so addictive, just like I experienced with Bois Imperial before.

I fell in complete love with Divine Vanilla and found they had 10ml bottles available. I love strong citrus so this was a no brainer for me. Possibly the best simple Bergamot I’ve ever tried/had. Super strong natural bergamot with rind to start softens to reveal a nice subtle tea in the background (wood and jasmine). Above average in longevity which is always a problem for scents of this style and very generous scent bubble - possibly again one of the strongest though it can be anasomic. A gentle movement easily provides a substantial reminder that it’s there powering away whilst you’re otherwise immune to it even a few hours later. Absolute killer and very much reinforcing the brand ethos for me. At the moment this brand feels like my little secret and whilst I wish to see them in department stores everywhere as a sign of success I worry this will alter their DNA. If you like high performance simple citrus a la Arancia Di Capri or Atlier Cologne this is blind worthy as a purchase.

This whole line is criminally underrated. Nice Bergamot is my first FB purchase for this brand. As a Bergamot lover, I had to have it immediately. I think I went through my sample in 2 days? Good thing I ordered the FB right away! Something I hardly do. I tend to think over buying a fragrance for some time before purchasing. So to me, it says something that I bought it so fast. The scent is so lively, clean, fresh. The ylang and jasmine come in quickly and are blended nicely. I don't sense a lot of tonka but it's there holding it all down. If you love bergamot or even citruses in general. I recommend giving this a go. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

I really liked Nice Bergamot. Although, honestly, I would call it “Nice Jasmine” since the jasmine note dominates the composition, at least for me. Either way, I was impressed by how beautiful it smells. The note structure is minimalistic, yet the overall smell feels premium and luxurious. It’s truly unisex, with a slight lean toward the feminine side. It’s very crowd-safe, but still interesting enough to stand out. The performance is quite good for this kind of formula. I especially appreciated that it didn’t cause nose-blindness, so I was able to enjoy it for a long time. Overall, I really like it. It works well as an office scent or as a gift.

Nice Bergamot is a gorgeous combination of juicy bergamot and white florals. It's become such an easy everyday reach for me this past spring and now into the summer. It's effortlessly chic, mature without feeling dated, and makes me feel both fresh and pretty when I'm wearing it. It's definitely feminine leaning IMO. The longevity is moderate - I get about 4 hours until it becomes a skin scent (the drydown is sweet and aromatic). I agree with the recent reviewer that there is a hidden tea note in here that emerges in the mid-base, and it lends itself really well to layering with other tea-centric or citrus forward fragrances. I give it a 9/10!

My favorite in the line along with Orange x Santal. Somehow the overarching serious theme in all of the Essential Parfums scents I've tried is not that present here, this is definitely joyful yet only slightly restrained. Jasmine and ylang ylang are so pristine and bright, far from the expected heady fruity accords that are used so commonly in florals. This also layers exceptionally well with Molecule 01. Antoine Maisondieu is one of my favorite perfumers and he does jasmine so well. Nice Bergamote is just as good as his other work. This would shine in summertime.

When I tried Nice Bergamotte in the store, it just seemed like a pleasant scent, and I was looking for a light, easygoing everyday fragrance for the summer. I picked it up, and I completely fell in love with it. It brings to mind an Italian villa with a citrus garden outside the window—life is good and carefree. To my nose, it smells super natural: a bright bergamot that smoothly transitions into jasmine, wrapping you in a soft, subtle scent bubble. Absolute masterpiece. I'd even call it a safe blind buy if you're looking for a smooth, attractive summer vibe.

Had the opportunity to try this a few days back and fell in love with it instantly. I've been on the lookout for a proper Bergamot based fragrance for a while and had narrowed down to either AdP's Bergamotto di Calabria OR Guerlain's Bergamote Calabria. And then at the Perfume store - the owner introduced me to Nice Bergamote. What a beautiful scent this is... Fresh Clean Crisp Uplifting Sensual Joyous Will be getting this very very soon. Summer is here now so will be a wonderful addition to my collection. :)

I love this perfume so much. It is such a pretty feminine scent that's more of a "my skin but better" as opposed to something that smells like a good perfume. I really appreciate that the jasmine is very restrained on my skin but the tonka shines through more than I anticipated. Personally, after a few hours it is a touch sweeter on my skin than I'd prefer in a perfect world but gosh this is a pretty bergamot. To me it is very smooth and inoffensive. If you like bergamot I think it would be hard to dislike.

Would it be redundant to say that this bergamot is nice? Nice Bergamote is just that, very nice and easy to wear. Feels like a weekend in the summer kicking back on a lounge chair writing a review....ooh wait.... that’s me. Anyway, what’s left to say. Completely unisex, long lasting Bergamot forward with a dollop of jasmine. Smells fresh. Smells nice. Did I say that already? Best bang for your buck award goes to Essential Parfums. Looking forward to sampling the others in this niche budget line.

A very easy to wear, smooth and fresh white floral scent. Bergamot on its own is neither long lasting nor strong in its odour impact. However it can play a supporting role in uplifting other materials, and that is precisely what happens here. The white floral portion seems to be heavy on Hedione, which is a-ok from me for the final impression. A smidge of coumarin sweetens and smoothes over the citruses and flowers. Improves one's mood and smells amazing on the right person.

If sunshine had a smell it would be this! It's fresh, juicy, uplifting, slightly sweet but also clean. It makes me think of drinking lemonade on a warm spring day in a beautiful garden filled with flowers. It somehow makes me nostalgic but I can't put my finger on what exactly it reminds me of. It also does last quite long on me, I can often still smell it on my skin after coming home after an 8 hour work day (but I will have to put my nose to my wrist)

This smells very good, but so much lighter than the perfumes I am used to wearing. The bergamot is, of course, the strongest of the notes and it is beautiful! I also smell lime, in kind of a gin and tonic way...but don't get the florals listed at all. The Tonka and cedar come in late and are nice but faint. I like to just keep spraying because the bright, clear opening is so lovely and vibrant. A very nice Bergamot!

On me this is the strongest, longest lasting bergamot. It is beautiful. I can smell it days after on the clothes I wore when I spayed this on my skin. It is my go to when I feel sick or sad, it is makes me happy. It is the ultimate citrus fragrance. I had a sample that was weak and then I bought a decant that is just amazing. Besides bergamot I also get very little jasmine and woods. Love it

I have done a lot of sampling lately and this sample was worth digging through the "already tried" pile twice to try it again. It made an impression on me. It is beautiful. I will definitely buy it. It lasts, unlike most other bergamot scents I have tried. And the tea note is a great compliment. I'm excited to see they have a 10 ml size, as well as a sample set of their other offerings.

Nice bergamote is such a pleasant fragrance. Very soft and not harsh or overpowering. To me this is a perfect summer morning scent, this just eases your mind and is so calm and tranquil. The longevity is not perfect like its scent, I get around 3-4 hours wearing this I wish they made a parfum of this. But overall I love this fragrance and is very inoffensive.

something very tea-y about this fragrance to me—perhaps reminding me of molecule 01 + black tea? i do think this is in fact a very nice bergamot, and i find it to be a very different profile than my other bergamot perfumes. just so pleasant, mixed a sample of this with a sample of molecule 01 and cannot stop sniffing my wrist.

On paper, this opens with beautiful bright citrus. On my skin, it smells almost exactly like brewed jasmine tea. Not jasmine flowers, but strongly brewed tea. With, perhaps, a squeeze of citrus. I am not at all upset by this result—it’s a lovely, uplifting, fresh summer smell that makes me feel like I’m at a garden party.

A fabulous, clean, elegant summer/spring perfume. Not clogging and just overall classy. Could be unisex but for me because of the jasmine, leans a bit more on the femenine side. Citrusy but not your classic bergamote perfume. It looks like another win for Essential Perfumes, all their perfumes are fantastic.

Very good citrus. Fresh and happy, you can almost taste the bergamot. I can see some comments that this is not long lasting, but on my skin it just goes on forever (now almost 7 hours and still going strong). Essential Parfums is an excellent house, I also like Divine Vanille and The Musc very much.

After a month of wearing this perfume I absolutely love it. At first I thought it was OK, pleasant and simple but nothing special. But now I appreciate it so much more. Clean, elegant, inoffensive, beautiful scent! Gives me uplifting, summer morning mood. One of my faves for sure!

EASY daily wear for me. Nice, clean, fresh uplifting bergamot. There are light florals. I'm in a hot climate so it gets a lot of use and I decanted some to carry around with me. I'll layer with ozonic, watery and tea scents : wulong cha, 11 11, etc

Nice Bergamote smells like summer in a bottle. Bergamot laced with ylang-ylang and tonka bean. Bergamot of course is the main ingredient. The ylang-ylang and tonka bean are soft, not strong like in other perfumes. Very bright and cheerful.

I really like this one. Opens up really bright and fresh from the bergamote, almost sparkling. Dry down is a mix of bergamote and little jasmine and this creates almost like a neroli accord. Really nice warm weather unisex fragrance.

Wearing this brightens my day and mood. One of my favorite spring/summer scent. It leans fresh and clean on my skin and has pretty good longevity as well. Overall a beautiful, fresh, simple, and uplifting fragrance for me.

Well, I can say it was love from the first sniff. beautifully blinded, very clean, airy, fresh and reviving. enjoyed warning it in the evening. loved the projection of the perfume. perfect for summer.

A no brainer for summer. Fresh and pleasant, office appropriate. Wish it would last longer but hey, it is a citrus fragrance. Will buy another bottle to switch up with mandarine basilic. 9/10

A really nice everyday summer and spring scent. Nothing too complex, but also not boring. I wear this to the office and think it really freshens up the space around me.

This is a bright beautiful citrus floral that is made for high heat. Even after the citrus fades, the florals stay bright and fresh. My only complaint is longevity.

For me this is light & bright. Unisex but leans more feminine. Fresh, clean, and simple in the best way. Can't wait to put this in the rotation for hot weather!

Bright, fresh, and uplifting. Lasts and projects well for bergamot, so barely arm's length and about an hour, but so good I wanted to reapply.

This tea scent is incredible !! It's really hard to mimic tea and they did it without even intending to do so. It's a light white tea.

On Essential parfums: Every now and again a brand comes along that really hits on every level. Essential parfums is one those brands. Superb perfumes, nothing superfluous or irrelevant in the lineup, a nice number of releases, Frederic Malle style focus on perfumers (all of which are fantastic master perfumers) with their name (and picture) pride of place on the bottle and marketing materials. A commitment to sustainability, in terms of perfume materials and packaging, transparency about natural naturals used and their source, and the really important thing to most consumers an pledge to keep prices affordably low without sacrificing quality. So a brand that truly adds value and brings a lot to the table. I have huge admiration and respect for them and they should be applauded for the whole concept of the brand. Nice Bergamot? Nice? What like Nice the place in France? or just like.... Nice? Either way it works. This is a pleasant, citrus floral, very well blended and lovely and all that. However, it's not quite what I like in a bergamot, I like a touch more zing and bite, This feel a touch muted, which is fine it's a lovely thing and a subsequent wear might have me loving it, and I'm not one of these people who finds it impossible to get up for a simple citrus scent because getting them to behave like this take a lot of skill from a perfume, more than moronic so called critique, gives them credit for. I think my ultimate citrus scents, well the best Bergamot lets say is Le Labo for me which is simulatiously sweeter, sharper and perhaps more musky or something? However, AGAIN, Look at the price and what you're getting here, if you love citrus don't pass this by! Despite how obsequious and what an arselicky shill type I've seemed over this brand (yes it makes me sick too!!!) I don't secretly work for or have any affiliation with them whatsoever. I paid for my discovery set and bottles, & gladly to be honest. I'm bigging them up so much because I genuinely want folks to get the scoop on perfume which isn't reinventing any wheels or breaking new ground in terms of the smell of the perfume itself but I want to pass on to you the value for money on the good (and sometimes great) perfumery and products on offer here.

Wow who would have thought the fragrance with the name 'nice' in it out of all possible adjectives, would be a top contender from this line. Not the most realistic bergamot by any means, none of that slightly herbal sparkle, more of a robust grapefruit note blended with a creamy floral apricot undertone, an osmanthus accord almost a touch of woods and musk in there too. Particularly on clothes, the longevity is unbelievable for a citrus scent, I sprayed it on my shirt sleeve about 4 hours ago and I can still smell it projecting strongly around me. It actually reminds me a lot of the much more expensive Atelier Cologne Bohemian Orange Blossom where they go for a similar tart citrus floral orange blossom accord, very similar to what I get here, that just imparts this long lasting freshness, but, believe it or not, I slightly prefer Nice Bergamote, as it comes off less screechy and aggressive. Instead of how the citrus top note just dissipates in most citrus offerings and you are left smelling the skin scent you actually get the chance to keep on experiencing the tart top and heart which are essential one and the same. My only gripe is that it is just a touch on the feminine side due to the creaminess, otherwise it would have been a Summer staple for me.

Breaking this sample out after having forgotten about it in my drawer. This is bright, clean, fresh, but not soapy. I am not a huge fan of bright citrus scents but this one is very pretty. I agree with another poster that you can almost sense an osmanthus/apricot accord which reminds me of my FB of Divine Vanille from the same brand, which I love. Often when there's Ylang Ylang in a scent it tends to be heavier (looking at you, Nosy Be!) but it is nicely subtle here. All the flowers in this are supporting the bergamot and not dominating it. I think it also achieves what Byredo Pulp tried to do with its grapefruit note, but ended up smelling like scented candle wax, while this one is somehow bright and creamy at the same time. It also reminds me of Nicolai Parfumeur Createur's Fig-Tea, but that one has a weird bitter note in it that made it a little stinky so I threw it away. This is much better and more softly blended. It's nice but not for me. But I do really appreciate it! It's a beautiful scent.
